The Wishing Well in West Lindsey

Returned for drinks thinking the wishing well was under new management. We were greeted,or not should I say by the same unenthusiastic Barman of previous. With the same clientele outside, loud vile men and woman rushing back and forth to there cars consuming various drug paraphernalia. All the optics empty and no syrup drinks available. Me my wife and my daughter ended up going home and sitting in the garden. We live over the road after moving to the village last year. We heard grown men woman and children until close and heard them all leaving in the cars they arrived in. The same cars Friday and Saturday occupy the car park. We only fear the inevitable accident that will happen. With so many people present while drunk driving happens. 2 weeks ago we were in the fish and chip shop when 2 of these pulled up on the pavement outside to greet there friends in the public house. These are grown men acting like children.

Awesome, proper local, and obviously for anyone one else who visits. Good venue for bands and brilliant atmosphere.

Terrible this place used too be amazing. The hub of the village. Previous 2 owners not landlords have been disastrous. Never stocking a pub with beer sky sports on and off food on and off. This pub desperately needs someone with a passion for the local area too take over. From outside it looks derelict inside smells of cannabis and the toilets have cocaine on the floors. (That’s when it’s open) please someone take over and run it correctly. The hanging baskets outside now have been in place with dead plants for 9 months. The current landlord is there at the minute but making no effort too keep it tidy. I was in one Sunday 2 months ago and the landlord was sanding the bar inside during opening hours. Give it a rest mate and clean up the front the picture added is 3 years old nothing updated just more fallen apart

Amazing Sunday lunch lovely people

Went for Sunday lunch and to celebrate my 77th Birthday with 3 generations of my family. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended. Host was charming. Food was fab. Hot when it is meant to be. Cold when it is meant to be. Didn’t feel overcharged. Highly recommended. Is now our usual. Thank you. They need to do something about the outside visual appeal though!

Often go for lunch menu, very good. Prices good for the food but a little ott on the drinks. Staff always helpful.

We have been looking for a good Sunday lunch in the area and this was by far the best. Amazing value for money, the pork was incredible… so tender with great crackling and the desserts were also brilliant. All in all a great quality Sunday lunch.

Double vodka and tonic £9.50 wishing well Cherry Willingham I thought I would give local pub some custom but when they charge that price you would think you were in soho lol no wonder pub was empty rob dogs ! I can easily drink 10 in a night but it’s Cherry not the Savoy won’t return

Very disappointed. Went with a friend one Sunday after a nice walk. We fancied a snack, chips, sandwiches or something like that. We were asked for our reservation which we didn't have (there was only one table in use, it was dead in the restaurant), he said he would find us a table, until we said what we wanted to eat... "Oh no, we can't do that... We only do Sunday dinners today!" .... Lol, it was empty in there! Well, we sat outside & had our drinks with a bag of crisps instead. To be honest, from what I saw of the menus, it looked very over priced anyway.... We won't be going back!

Booked at last minute for Sunday roast. Roast pork (plenty) roast & mashed potatoes, yorkie, cabbage carrots & broccoli all with lashings of tasty gravy, plus amazing crispy crackling...yum!! All this for £13.95. Lovely friendly ambient surroundings & very wi I service. A must to eat there

Booked at the last minute for a Sunday lunch, it was amazing. Roast pork, yorkie, roast & mashed potatoes, carrots cabbage & broccoli with lashings of yummy gravy, oh not forgetting the tasty crunchy crackling. £13.95 for all this. Very swift service & nice ambient surroundings. It would be a shame to miss out on such a brilliant food experience.

Lovely food, great staff, well worth a visit. New chef is great. Keep it up guys you are doing amazing. We will be returning with friends. See you soon.

Came here today after going to another of this company pubs (the chequers at Potterhanworth) and I was very pleased beautiful village pub with a restaurant area and seperate bar area. Absolutely beautiful relaxing decor, staff so friendly and cheerful. We went for a Sunday lunch and it was beautiful very prompt fresh and very tasty. Would highly recommend this place will definitely be going again. 5 stars from me

A wonderful Sunday dinner - all of it was brilliant - served on hot plates - homemade Yorkshire pudding yum yum - stuffing was very tasty definitely a return visit on the cards

4 of us visited recently for a meal, The Wishing Well hasn't done food for quite some time and we were so impressed by the service and the food, we'll definitely be back for more. The bar area now has a good vibe with great staff and a good drinks selection. The new owner, and staff, are creating an establishment to be proud of!

Had a meal for five, prompt service, excellent food will be going again nice surroundings.

The bitter was off, they had no ice or lemon, and no food, but we are hopeful it will improve!! We visited on Sunday

Last time I was in it it was horrible

If I could give any less than 1 star I would have! Staff are absolutely vile and make accusations against paying customers, they then take drinks which we have paid for and throw them on the floor.

Only bar snacks at the weekend apparently. Chips, chicken wings, chicken nuggets. No choice at all. Not to mention, not a single thing was gluten free.

We moved nearby and we're hoping for a nice local pub. Very happy to say we have one. Staff are very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Seperate dining area and bar, with service prompt in both areas. We went on a Friday evening and it was much quieter in the dining area than expect (very popular in the bar area without being overcrowded) Service was quick and very friendly, with the food absolutely lovely. We had the cauli bites and the chicken wings, followed by two of the burgers. Well presented and fresh tasting. Very happy to have a 'local' that is one we want to spend time in. Dog friendly as far as we believe, but we've never tried with ours as she's very moody in her old age.

I won a meal for 2 in a raffle that the owners donated and the Xmas menu was amazing lovely atmosphere

This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is cooked to perfection. Quality ingredients and the staff are so helpful. Lovely decor and very good prices including food and drinks. Great place will be going back very soon. The quality and cooking of the steaks are better than those Steakhouse's best steakhouse

Always a warm welcome. Happy to serve non alcoholic drinks Fish and chips very good and took no time at all to be served.

Sunday lunch was delicious, with great portion sizes and quick service. Nice variety and well priced. Sadly let down by serving staff who were moody and miserable which created an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Went here with my wife and two children. A slight mix up with our booking was quickly rectified and we were served promptly. The menu was good and priced about right. The children’s meals were £4.50 each and they got a main and an ice cream. The mains were just enough for our 6 year old but wouldn’t have thought there would be enough for children a year or two older. My wife had the scampi and I had steak. Both were standard pub grub. They didn’t blow us away nor leave us disappointed. The steak was slightly over cooked - I asked for medium rare and received more medium well-done. With the eat out half price scheme it was excellent value at £25 which included a beer and glass of prosecco. Not sure I would have wanted to pay full price without a step up in standard.

Went in during eat out to help out and was quite impressed. Nice beers, friendly staff, nice decor and tasty food. Can't really ask for more.

Beautiful menu I've being simple, but all homemade. I had home made burger, coleslaw and chip. Partner had hunters chicken, was lovely. Good price great service. Defo be going to try Sunday dinner.

What a brilliant meal we had for valentines. The starters were to die for I had king prawns and the partner had buffalo wings . The steaks were cooked to perfection and accompanied by fantastic side dishes and the chocolate fudge cake just topped it off! Stacey our server was particularly helpful and nothing was to much trouble! Thankyou for a wonderful valentines night !

Fantastic!!!! Me and my husband came for Sunday lunch and we pigged our on a 3 course meal. My starter was basic but the main meal and pudding was to die for 😍. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. This is the second time we have had a Sunday dinner here and it is the best one in Lincoln by far.

Well worth a visit, lovely roast beef Sunday lunch excellent value, other meats and a tasty steak and ale pie on offer, with a good selection of vegetables. Nice atmosphere, other large parties in, but service was quick and staff friendly.

A repeat visit to hold a staff reunion with partners but has changed owners since last time. On arrival the table well set out for twelve. Allowing for the variety of choices the service was reasonably fast since we were not in a hurry. The menu is not as wide as before but quite a good choice of starters and mains and the prices very reasonable. I had brie wedges and my wife went for prawn cocktail. The wedges were a bit small with a large portion of cranberry sauce but the prawns were only ok although well presented. For main I chose Lincolnshire sausages and mash and my wife decided on haddock and chips. The sausages (only two!) were well presented and nicely spiced but not overly so and the mash nice and creamy. The haddock surprised my wife (and one of the other diners) by being smoked! We had never encountered battered smoked haddock before. It was just as white as usual but my wife was put off by the taste. She commented to the waiter and the meal was not charged for bthe chips on the other hand were very nice and crispy. There was a very limited sweet menu written on a small piece of paper and neither of us felt tempted. We were offered tea or coffee for no extra charge but the cups came without saucers and only one teaspoon between three! Overall it was a nice experience and the staff attentive. There was no rush and we enjoyed socialising with old colleagues. I got the impression that they are still developing the business but they do need to refine things somewhat. If the group decide on a repeat visit we will go again but don’t feel inclined to choose the venue over our other haunts for just the two of us. Hopefully things will develop as it has great potential.

Just had the biggest piece of fish I have ever had, no skin or bones just pure white fish in a nice crispy batter. The wife had the mixed grill.

Fantastic meal tonight in this friendly family pub with separate restaurant area from the bar.The food was brilliant, plenty to choose from but we decided on halloumi fries, two mixed grills with great quality meat cooked to our order and liking and fish and chips that would put any ‘chippy’ to shame!Drinks selection plentiful and a nice pint served by friendly and helpful staff.I would highly recommend anyone to go sample this lovely place with excellent portions and prices, for any type of meal from couples, families and larger groups!!!!

Booked in last minute on a Sunday lunchtime on the way back from Skegness. Staff were very welcoming and even though there was only 1 waiter he worked really hard and we didn't have to wait long to be asked what we wanted. Food was really nice and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend the Steak and Guinness pie.

Went here midweek to sample the bar food tapas menu 3 for £10. 3 small portions between 2 was perfect. We had halloumi fries, potato skins and chicken strips. They were all really tasty. The potato skins were very small but overall a good option. The service was good along with the atmosphere.

Lovely meal and attentive staff, steak pie mmmm lively to meet the new owner and best of luck to her. We will be back. Iced water a fab touch.

It was my first visit to the wishing well, they had live music. They made us feel very welcome. We had a lovely evening, I'll definitely visit again.

Only stopped for a quick drink but was lovely. . My dog was brought out fresh water with out asking and the staff and customers were all great. . Will go there for a meal next time

The pub is located in the heart of the village with a lovely, friendly feel about. It is highly recommended for the food it serves and also has music nights and other various entertainment during the week. There is an outside seating area too. The staff are very friendly and offer a brilliant service in the dining area. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area for either a drink or a bite to eat.

A smart and comfortable pub serving the local community and beyond. I enjoyed looking at the old prints of Lincoln through the decades. The toilets are modern, spotlessly clean and the fresh flowers were a lovely touch.

Portion sizes are not very big starters very small main meals sizes were small did not have 3 things listed on the menu will not go there again

After hearing about the great food I have to say we were all disappointed with the portion sizes except the 5 year old who had ample. It was cooked very well and tasted great. Just some of the mains on the Sunday menu (Not Sunday lunch) are like starters and at £10.50 overpriced for meal size.

We had a beautiful Sunday roast today, cooked to perfection, red cabbage to die for, as was the lovely crunchy roast potatoes, the mash done perfectly, and the rest of the veg just right. Topped with perfectly cooked roast beef with beautiful Yorkshire pudding. Leaving just enough room for a perfect raspberry crem brûlée with shortbread on the side, obviously home made and not bought in, one word. “Superb”

Nice atmosphere but there were s few of us and wanted to eat but because they had a table of 9 and a table of 10 booked in they refused our request. We weren't bothered about sitting together or if our food came out at the same time, so would have expected they could cope? Obviously not enough staff. Shame because between us we would have spent at least another couple of hundred quid just on food. We left at 8pm and went elsewhere

Visitado hoy como un grupo de 12 personas, el pub estuvo particularmente tranquilo durante un domingo a la hora del té con solo otra pareja sentada para comer. Había escuchado muy buenas críticas y estaba deseando que llegara nuestra comida, menú limitado pero todos encontramos algo para nuestra fantasía. Una espera razonable para la comida y luego, cuando salió, todos miramos nuestros platos en shock por el tamaño de las porciones, ¡extremadamente pequeño, apenas lleno, la mitad del plato de un plato de comida de tamaño promedio! Dos de las comidas fueron devueltas porque eran muy pobres y faltaban alimentos y regresaron 5 minutos más tarde. De los doce, dos estaban contentos con su comida. Nuestra primera visita a este pub y desafortunadamente nuestra última! !

6 of us visited today for Sunday lunch. Food and service was excellent. The addition of the board games is a great little touch to keep the kids (and daddy) entertained!

We have had nothing but excellent experiences at The Wishing Well, went two weeks ago for an Anniversary meal. The food and service were excellent. The jerk chicken was the highlight of the visit for me it was delicious! We are lucky to have this in pub/restaurant in the village and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Lunchtime visit .... beer was good as was the service. We were a group of three..one had the 5oz Rump Steak which looked OK.two of us ordered the thick cut ham and chips which was Not thick cut as advertised on the menu...it was thin sliced and not what we were expecting..,disappointing.

We booked and had a great Sunday lunch in the Wishing Well, service was good, food tasty, it's a lovely pub to eat at.

Myself and my partner came to the menu relaunch night. We arrived 30mins before our table was booked so we had a drink in the bar area. We both thought ‘What an amazing place’ even the dog bowls are a great touch (we have also been back with our dog too)

So we opted to try the wishing well again a few months after the old head chef had been let go, fair to say our second visit we were excited as we had seen reviews had been brilliant we were greeted by a young girl with black hair who was not really very friendly we were sat at the table and a drinks order was taken.

Had an enjoyable lunch , the food was great and the service very good. They have recently got new tables and chairs and they are much more comfortable than the previous ones. I know since going they have new menus so there is even more choice now . The only negative was that the music was too loud ...I know I could have asked to have it turned down but maybe everyone else liked it loud and it was just me.

We’re frequent visitors and see the wishing well as a hidden gem. Whether it’s a romantic meal or treating the kids they’re fantastic. We visited for our anniversary this week and the new menu was amazing. The staff were polite and attentive & the food is unbeatable. The cocktail menu adds that something extra and the prices are all reasonable we can’t complain. Forever recommending this place to all people we know and meet. You will not be disappointed :)

Popped in here with my wife for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. It was a quiet weekday afternoon but we were treated by a friendly bartender/manager who was excellent. We both opted for the steak and Stilton baguette which were delightful. The steak cooked perfectly to our liking and extremely good quality. A side of triple cooked chips also went down nicely. All for under £25 including two soft drinks.

Really lovely, first class food and absolutely excellent service - Chef Corey consistently produces delicious meals from an imaginative, beautifully balanced menu. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly, smart front of house staff; unobstrusively attentive, they respond quickly to requests. Great to be offered water without having to ask - it's these small touches that make the difference between good and great. Lovely atmosphere and interior design; and a manager who clearly cares that every guest has the best possible experience. And no-one, but no-one serves a better sticky toffee pud!
