Portions and value are fantastic but the food lacked a little quality. The price paid was extremely good for value and the food and quantity was undervalued but the quality wasn't there to improve the rating. I had the mixed grill which was very large portion but the steak wasn't the best cut. I would definitely return as was great value for money.

Best carvery I've had. Such a good choice including pigs in blanket, stuffing balls (not frozen ones) roast parsnips, broccoli and cauliflower cheese. Lots of veg. Meat was lovel too. Only problem was so much choice we could not fit everything on the plate. Not a bad problem to have. Will be definitely be back

Been today for the carvery. Food was lovely and good value for money. Will go back again. Really enjoyed the Banana split for pudding!

Decent service, good quality ingredients and a huge area upstairs that was done out really well. Views across the river to West Stockwith from certain tables. I would definitely return and would highly recommend.

We have not been here for a while due to circumstances. Wish we had not returned!! My partner ordered his favorite here the Gammon with egg & pineapple, I ordered the steak & Ale pie The Gammon was well & truly over cooked, dry as a bone & tasteless, the egg was solid curled at the edges, my pie had been cremated the meat round the edges was dry & inedible, even with the gravy that was brought with it. We tried to catch some ones attention but with only 2 members of staff on this was impossible, both running around like headless chickens!! We waited 20minutes for our table to be cleared but no one came so we went to sit outside.....we could have quite easily left without paying as there was no one around. My partner went to the bar where he waited another 10 minutes before the young lady came for him to pay. She never asked if everything was ok/had we enjoyed our meal. My partner ended up telling her about both our meals & her reaction was oh sorry to hear that you should have told a member of staff. If we could have got hold of some one we would but all the time waiting meant dinner was cold. We took the gammon home for the dog & even she didn't want it!!!!! Overall very disappointed with our experience last night & will not be returning.

I asked for a sirloin steak and got i don't know what but it was not sirloin it was full of fat and grisle and it cost me £18. Something never add a sirloin like it it was horrible...

Visited for lunch. Haven't been since the refurb so was long overdue! The chilli with chips and rice was amazing! Great prices too!

I chose a liver & onion meal and was very disappointed with the food and presentation. There was only 4-5 mouth size pieces of liver lost in the gravy, four new potatoes halved, a spoonful of peas and cabbage. When i went to pay the man behind the bar, he asked if everything was ok, i told him it wasn`t and the reason, he just said, "oh, i`m sorry to hear that" and quoted what I owed him. I thought i would verbally highlight my disappointment instead of write a review, but his lack of response made me write this. The other meals around me, pie and roast looked lovely and they were on about £1 more!!

Our first visit, really good will go again.

Disappointing meal. Lots of choice on the menu and indoor and outdoor seating and was looking forward to having some good food. Chose the roast dinner as a vegetarian option as on the menu it specified they did that with a cranberry and something option. It arrived with two huge Yorkshire puddings that were cold, and potatoes and veg, also not hot. Gravy which was thick and gloopy and when we showed the waitress, even she pulled a face. That was it. Considering the amount of vegetarian options, to serve a roast dinner with no meat alternative was very poor. We did tell the waitress and she did say the ‘boss’ would sort something, but we sat outside and finished our drinks and he didn’t even come out to us. We also ordered a mixed grill which was okay, but nothing special. Wouldn’t go back

Me and my partner went for s Sunday Carvery. It was delicious, with a choice of meats and vegetables including leeks, carrots peas and parsnips. Will definately be returning

It was our 1st visit to the ferry house in a long time after hearing good things about it. I ordered the mixed grill which was excellent. My wife had the lasagne which she described as the best pub one she’d had. ( not quite as good as mine though). Good value for money with friendly and helpful staff.

Carvery was amazing, lovely choice of meats, the beef melted in the mouth,great vegetables too, and massive yorkies. Definitely will be going again xx😁😁

Great food and lovely refurbishments

Went for partners birthday, I booked a table via email, was quickly replied to and table was booked, we both had the carvery, which was absolutely delicious and hot and fresh, we then decided as it was a special birthday to have dessert, we had the cheesecake which was amazing, it was all served by helpful friendly staff. We will be going in the week as we want to try other things on the menu, so we are looking forward to returning very soon ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Very clean, very pleasant, delicious food 😋 👌

Had lunch today , family of 4, there were 2 haddock and chips which were beautiful, the haddock was really thick and tasty, the chips were plentiful and really nice. 2 had the combo meal- steak and ribs and steak and smothered chicken, again large portions and superb. The lady behind the bar was really friendly and welcoming and the young waitress did a great job. We’ve been quite a few times over the years but not for probably 12 months. The bar has moved around and been updated/decorated and is really smart. No doubt we’ll bff we back soon

The service here was shocking. We came for a family members birthday, and on our arrival we was presented with an ill-mannered lady. To which started moaning at us all for not booking a table, she then continued to complain about the short staff here, and made everyone who came feel really awkward and unwelcome. If that wasn't enough with the attitude and unpleasantness when it came to splitting the bill at the end of the meal we was told by not only the same lady but also the owner that we wasn't allowed to do this, (their was 3 families of us) wasn't a big ask to spilt it 3 ways. However an arrangement amongst family members managed to settle this situation at the end. Probably the worst experience I've had EVER with customer service and general politeness. Will safely say me nor me family will be attending this bar/restaurant again.

Wasn't impressed the starter for 2 for 12.99 was chucked on the plate I got bad stomach immediately after getting home and for nearly £40 pounds plus the drinks an expensive night out and my stomach was bad for hours after and someone's pie had no meat in it and service wasnt perfect I can't recommend the ferry house better quality and better price elsewhere also less chance of being poisoned ...avoid

Lovely home cooked food and a real relaxing atmosphere. Made our special get-together so perfect .

Been before for Carvery but this time was off the main menu. I had ham, egg and chips. There were 6 of us in total and not a crumb was wasted. Service couldn't be faulted. Total bill with drinks £72.00. Well worth it. Will be back soon. PS book in advance.

Quantity does not equal quality unfortunately! Generous portion sizes but very much let down by the quality of the product. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare and received a well done steak which was exceptionally tough and chewy. The onion rings were almost cremated they were that overcooked! We were asked if we wanted to add egg or pineapple to the gammon, which we chose to do, but we did not receive them. The only saving grace was the chips; they were luke warm but really tasty. I’m not sure what all the rave is about to be honest, I definitely won’t be returning.

We went last Friday and ate from the new lunch menu. We was a little sceptical about how big the portions sizes would be considering the price, we was pleasantly surprised! I had the meat and potato pie with chips. The pie was massive and the chips were so good! My partner had bbq chicken ciabatta with chips which was more than bid enough for lunch, excellent value at £6.95 a meal. We will be back

We have never had a bad meal here but tonight’s was awful as I couldn’t have a half rack of ribs fair enough so ordered the fish cake off the starter menu and asked for a portion of chips with it it came no chips my husbands chips were over cooked a lot burnt my chips were the same cold carrots on husband plate meat and potato pie over done totally unsatisfied we left spoke to staff and the reduced bill by one portion of chips no fever tree tonic either we have been put off returning

Roast dinners arrived cold,cabbage uncooked gammon was more like bacon and tough one of worse roast dinners had out on Sunday Chicken tikka with rice not great just a jar sauce Rhubarb crumble mixture powdery as though not even been cooked, when waitress everything OK we replied no roast dinners not great she just said oh... We will not be returning very disappointing this time

Came here with my husband, Mum and Dad. We've been before and in fact had our wedding reception here some 22 years ago. Thursday lunch, not overly busy. Room was a comfortable temperature. Attended to in good time. Excellent selection of menu. Proper home cooked food. My parents opted for lasagne on the "light bite" menu. Husband had steak pie and chips and I had a light bite roast. Plentiful portion size, amazing chips (please don't ever stop doing these), huge Yorkshire pudding and perfectly cooked vegetables. Light Bites are £6.95, absolutely fantastic value for money. Definitely recommend.

Best carvery, had 5 meats 1 being lamb ,and good number of vegetables, all good beautifully, even managed to save space for pudding, with also a good deserts board of hot and cold puds, also reasonably priced

Popped in on New Years Eve 2022 for lunch - havn't been here for a long time to eat - used to be great in the 90s. A rather large selection of meals to choose - which indicates not fresh produce, probably alot microwaved. We ordered rack of ribs and the chicken stuffed with brie and cranberry. The food came, I looked down and thought - oh no, what a mistake. Rack of ribs - were not on a rack, all cut into pieces, very solidified, just warmed up sloppy pork, with a tasteless sauce. Coleslaw was a large dollop of cream - no texture at all, awful. Chicken had no appearance from the brie or cranberry, just chicken sliced up. Not a pub for people who know how to cook and who like tasty fresh food - one for pensioners, with little appetite and tastebuds

You can't beat this place for delicious food at fantastic prices and has offer nights which are definitely worth a visit but must book first. Sunday carvery is first class.

We and my wife visited here Sunday and II’s was amazing! I had the chip shop platter which was huge and great value for £11! Avoid the turkey roll downstairs we thought it would be fresh turkey like upstairs carvey .it was horrible pre cooked turkey roll which had a horrible refrigerated tang the veg was hard to .you certainly let yourself down usually is very good .we will not be rushing back .

Excellent service and help from staff as wife is diabetic and was having the start of a hypo, definitely went the extra mile as arrived past 2pm . We still were able to order lunch , very nice meal, friendly attentive staff , and wife recovered well . Thank you to all, we will definitely visit again . Doug and Pat Gainsborough

Although we did not eat the menu looked very inviting and a massive selection. Reasonable price's. It's not what I'd call a pub just one ale available but that was pleasing. Pub times on website confusing they stop serving food in the afternoon but the bar remains open. Barmaid extremely friendly and very accommodating.

We were crammed in to what we were lead to believe was a private room which wasn’t and we were separated onto 2 tables (not ideal). The service was very poor the staff seemed very undertrained and not particularly friendly they clearly didn’t want to be there. The meals came out slowly (one by one) things missed off and meals arriving late which meant everyone had to start at different times. Unfortunately, the food once arrived wasn’t great it was cold, bland and over cooked. The roast dinner was dreadful to say the least small portions, mushy tasteless vegetables, dry meat and not to mention the Yorkshire pudding which felt like it had been made days ago and just reheated, one party member didn’t even get one but didn’t realise until they had nearly finished. The chicken was so dry it resembled something you’d forgotten about and left in the bottom of the oven for days, the sauce was all separated and lumpy the chips were like left over scraps, awful. The deserts although the best part of the meal by far they were half the portion size they previously were it was obvious corners were been cut to save money. Fortunately it didn’t spoil our family get together but we shall not be returning or recommending. Such a shame as it’s always been very high on our list of the best places to eat in the area.

Me and my partner have gone past this pub many times and always said we would stop and we did on Wednesday 13th July 2022 we had soup to start which was good and then I had a giant Yorkshire filled with slices of beef and gravey the Yorkshire was like trying to eat concrete very well done and very hard and beef was dry with only a tiny drop of gravey and the veg and mash was dry like it had been in th emicrowave my partner had spaghetti bolognaise which he said was good but there was a lot of juice in the bottom and also no cheese on it the staff was all very nice just a shame the food let it down very dissapointed

Booked the small room at Ferry house for a 90th birthday It was a last minute party and Matthew at the Ferry house made it all so easy Food was great, waitress were great. Would highly recommend for excellent home cooked meals (and we had 26 off us). A wonderful night for all and everyone commented on the food and hospitality 5 stars
