The Filling Station in Amber Valley

Our trip to the filling station was an action packed visit to say the least! Think Sarah got a little carried away when writing her review 🤣 but nonetheless the food was a solid 7! I had eggs royale which i would recommend, my colleague however started eating his breakfast outside and nearly ended up in the Methodist church across the road! All in all I will be recommending the Filling station to peers and friends a far for an enthralling visit and very lovely and accommodating staff! Kudos to the chef!

Delicious breakfast ! Great prices , friendly staff … it’s next to the bus station so not a glamorous cafe but very clean and good food ! We will be back !

I had the pleasure of ordering breakfast with my daughter at The Filling Station quite early on Bank Holiday Monday. I looked for somewhere on the way to Matlock from Derby that had a highly rated breakfast. It did not disappoint! Great, friendly welcome. Lovely coffee whilst we waited for our food which was cooked to order. We both ordered on the basis that our eyes were bigger than our bellies and couldn't finish. What we did manage was quality ingredients, cooked really well and served with a smile. We have already organised the next time that mum is dropping daughter off at work with a cheeky stop at The Filling Station. thanks for a lovely welcome...

Exceptionally delicious breakfast, the brown sauce is the best I've ever had, proper sausages! Good portion size, good price, friendly and pleasant staff

Previous reviews were spot on, a cheerful decor, very friendly staff and excellent food freshly prepared. Only had breakfast there a couple of times but looks like a good lunch menu as well.

Small but perfectly formed eatery just by Belper bus station. A handful of tables inside with more outside. Nice decor, a comfortable feel straight away. This was our first visit, certainly won't be our last! Delicious omelettes served quickly and with a smile. Good value and portion sizes were also very good. Breakfast prices were high which nearly put us off (I would rethink those if I were the owner) but other dishes were far more reasonable. Cakes looked very tempting and also very good prices, no room in our tummies this time though....Next time!

Always come here for vanilla latte and big breakfast always nice and friendly and the staff are great and always smiling

Called for breakfast very busy, lucky to get a table. We both had a small full English ,really well cooked. And service with a smile ,which in these days is sometimes hard to come by

If it wasn’t for Tripadvisor I would never have found this place. It’s deff a case of don’t judge a book by it’s cover, it may not look as fancy as other cafes but the food is delicious and generous portions the staff are friendly and it’s very reasonably priced. It’s a very small cafe with limited table room. I don’t know if they take bookings but we went around 11.30am it wasn’t busy when we first went in but it started to fill up and whilst we would have liked to linger we felt it wasn’t fair with more customers arriving. This is deff worth a visit if you are in the area they cater for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Spotlessly clean little cafe providing an efficient and quick service so fill up your tank here and it will not cost the earth.

Despite having lived in Belper for 4 years and driven passed this place numerous times, my work colleague and I were in the mood for a JP/Chilli/Cheeses. We decided to give this place a try and were not disappointed. The JP was great, lots of homemade Chilli con carne, topped with cheese and a lovely side salad with coleslaw , it was just the BEST ! Next day my other 2 work colleagues tried the cheese bacon burger and fries as a takeaway, and again it was sop notch food. Can't wait to try more things on the menu !!!

I came to the Filling Station for lunch today with my Dad, having a some time in Belper before getting the bus home, which I’d told the staff was leaving in 45 minutes and she said if we hadn’t finished our food in time we could take it home in boxes! I explained when I was ordering that I was vegetarian and all the options were told to me. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and the food was very tasty, filling and piping hot. I order a wholemeal toastie with onions, tomatoes and cheese with salad and my Dad had Welsh rarebit, leek and potato soup and we shared a portion of chips. They were good portion sizes and very affordable. I will 100% come again. Keep doing great, such an excellent place!

Great place for a breakfast , awesome eggs benedict and catered for my girlfriends allergy with kindness. Fab sausage sandwich too so got the Mrs seal of approval !

You may pass this little cafe by but it’s definitely worth popping in for a tasty hot breakfast with great service and lots of tea ! No silly sachets of milk and sugar either 👍 Have been a few times now and would make it my go to place for breakfast. Maybe I might pop in for lunch too. Thanks to you all

A real gem of a place that serves nicely presented great tasting food & drinks. Visited today with a friend & we were both really impressed with the food & our cappuccinos. We’ll definitely be paying it another visit soon to try more from the menu.

When you think about food at transport hubs: train, airport, bus, you generally think very pricey, perhaps factory made, stingy portions. Not so with The Filling Station. It's next to the bus station, has outdoor seats, a good menu and generous portions of food for the price. You also get proper cutlery and plates.

The breakfast are best around and done by Matt who is a brilliant chef and I have the big breakfast and vanilla latte are nice aswell nice clean cafe and chloe is on front making drinks I don’t have breakfast much but when I do...

Had lunch here today. Food was excellent, freshly prepared, plentiful and most important for me, it was piping hot. The place was very clean and fully covid compliant. The atmosphere was very good and the staff friendly and efficient.

We had the best cappuccino and blt sandwich we have ever had .Matt is the best always helpful and makes time to greet everyone. The filling station is a really great place , the takeaway meals during lockdown have been fabulous.

Matt’s specials are amazing and provide a wide range of choice. He still serves the best breakfast that I have ever had. I just wish that I lived in Belper...if you do, then do drop in, you won’t regret it.

Topped up here with a small breakfast cob which had ample filling and a decent cup of coffee. Busy, well laid out and spotlessly clean little place with customers eating in and orders being taken away with excellent service from the staff.

the food is amazing along with the custom, all food is freshly cooked and the service is out of this world, would rate 6* if possible. Must try the bacon and egg cobs.

Staff were very friendly and the owner has time for all his customers I had the big breakfast which was excellent value you get free drinks with it.The bacon and sausage tasted excellent no cheap products used I would highly recommend this cafe 5 stars

The atmosphere is lovely and the food is really good. On my second visit I had Eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was perfect as with the rest of the ingredients.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Only stopped for a coffee (which was very nice) but would have had food if had the time. So impressed to see vegan options on the menu. Hopefully be back at some point.

A fantastic place to have something to eat. Friendly, clean, delicious food. Anything you could want from a cafe.

The food was excellent, the breakfast lovely but the place was quite dirty. We had to wipe down the table first and send cutlery back, plus the floor needed a good sweep. However the service was excellent and very friendly.

Seem like nice folk who run it and the food I’ve had is good. Please don’t park on the driveway opposite the venue though. It’s a private road and as an urgent care doctor I don’t really want my driveway blocked while you wait on your breakfast. It may be your relative/friend one day. Thanks.

Friendly service... accommodates waiting for the bus! Midway between Belper's Orangerie and its main shopping street. Happy to return.

Been coming here on and off for my breakfast cob for awhile now. Often speak to chloe and matt when I go in and they are always nice. Food here is good aswell and fairly priced. Will keep on coming here for sure

Although its not in a usual setting being joined to the bus station,it is a fab breakfast! Service is really good an the chef is very friendly.would def.reccomend a visit.only gripe is that i dont like dogs inside a cafe where people are eating an it slightly put me off.however food is yummy

Breakfast out with the hubby. First time we’ve been here and we will definitely be back. Started with a very warm welcome and chatted through my various dietary needs, nothing was too much trouble, I had a small breakfast (which was huge) it was vegetarian, gluten and lactose free. Hubby had a large breakfast which he says was really good. We are both now stuffed finishing off our coffees (free refills) letting our stomachs settle before moving on. Visited with my fiance and 4 month old baby. We were expecting a standard breakfast cafe and were pleasantly surprised with this lovely home cooked, family friendly cafe. Food was devine and very reasonably priced. It has baby changing too which was a god send! Would highly recommend a visit and will certainly be back if in the area.

We declare this unassuming cafe, absolutely first class. It’s great that they serve breakfasts all day, as well as providing lots of other great options. The food is superb, beautifully presented and served with a smile. We had a large breakfast and Eggs Royale (poached eggs with smoked salmon on a muffin) truly divine! This is a great find and we will be definitely be back.

The Filling Station is always our number one choice for breakfast or lunch in Belper. It’s incredibly friendly, the food is excellent and is always beautifully presented. When our food is served, it’s always over and above what you would expect for the price.

The food is so tasty,especially their homemade broccoli and stilton soup! The prices are great and service is amazing. Chef is so accommodating! Couldn't be better really enjoy coming here!

This amazing little cafe serves the best breakfast which they are happy to adapt to your own tastes, fried or poached eggs, fried bread or toast, nothing is too much trouble. We all tweeked our breakfast a little and the lovely waitress got all our orders right. Excellent coffee and teas. Lovely atmosphere and very freiendly staff. Well worth a visit.

A friendly little cafe with a simple but tasty menu . Nothings too much trouble . The kids had chilli , chips and cheese ( not on the menu / 1 portion shared between 2 kids ) and we had breakfast which comes with a drink refill ( this can even be a latte or hot chocolatee ) x

Visited 15th March 2019 for breakfast with my wife and two friends and to say we were happy and impressed is a lm understatement. Lovely family run business and the welcome, service and food were all impeccable. We will return again and it’s highly recommended

Unreal! I've been in a few times for both Breakfast and takeaway Lunch and every time the quality has been superb! The Lunches are very good but the full English breakfast with a mug of tea is by far the best full English in the area and the portions are massive!! Always great service and the chef is always up for a chat and a laugh (although his name always escapes me)! Can't recommend highly enough!

My 7 year old passes the cafe most days going to school. She's been asking to go inside since it was taken over and renovated about a year ago.

Met up with two members of my ward ( I am the local Councillor) to talk about Belper’s campaign to increase the Town’s plastics recycling. The owner of this great cafe joined us to tell us about his use of reusable mugs and biodegradable packaging for takeaway food. You can take in your own reusable mug and get it filled up with a hot drink and pay a discounted price. If we are going to save the planet we need forward thinking cafe owners like this to do their bit. The food and service in the Filling Station is very good to.

My wife had been raving about The Filling Station for some time. Today the opportunity arose for us to stop and have a spot of lunch together. I have to report the service, food and ambience is top-draw! We’ll deffo be back 👍🏻

Theres nothing like supporting a small independent bussiness. The food is top notch, the prices are fair and nothing is too much trouble. They are more than Happy to accommodate your needs whatever they are.(even when your a fussy eater) Theres Always a warm welcome with a smile.

Popped in for breakfast and had the most amazing eggs benedict beautifully presented!

Came in there yesterday and had the full English with a couple of extras. The bacon was so meaty, the sausage was really juicy with a nice herby flavour, the mushrooms were cut nice and thick and tasted very fresh and the fried bread was a triumph. Often fried bread can taste too oily and fatty but this still tasted great and not too greasy. Will be back again very soon. Also, the service was fantastic and very friendly and they even gave biscuits to our dog. :)

We go here for breakfast mainly but also had lunch. It’s so fresh and yummy. Nothing to much trouble and happy to accommodate a change in menu to your liking . Vegetarian vegan catered for . It’s a bright cheerful place and very clean . Matt the owner and Chloe are always cheerful. Great location near the bus station.

In need a breakfast stop ahead of walking with old friends, Tripadvisor directed us here and we where well served. Great service, warned nicely not to ask for food we won’t eat! Which given the high quality of the fare there was no chances of anything being left. It was cooked to perfection including the extra black pudding. Coffee setting and service just super.

It is always good to get a warm and friendly greeting when entering a place and you certainly get that here. Well laid out with excellent decor, with a small but good breakfast menu. Full breakfast was tasty, good portion size and I washed it down with a decent pot of tea.

I had a sausage cob at the filling station and it was the best I’ve ever had, hot, tasty and plentiful. Extremely friendly and helpful staff too!! Will be coming back soon. Best breakfast in Belper

Early to catch my bus I decided to go for a coffee at The newly refurbished Filling Station. A warm welcome and good service although I only had a coffee on this occasion I shall make sure to be early for my bus again and take advantage of a cooked breakfast !

Two lovely people running this cafe, so friendly and cheerful. Only been twice but very impressed by the quality of the food. Shall definitely return to sample more of this delicious menu. The cafe was spotless and no horrible, greasy smells. Everything prepared to order and lovely coffee. Support this little business.

Enjoyed a nice cup of coffee at The Filling Station - Belper this morning in the entrance to Belper Bus Station.

This little cafe is the best around for many reasons, no greasy smells no grease on plates. Nothing is too much trouble. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Wont go anywhere else!

Just called in for the first time this morning. Very polite and pleasant, greeted with a cheery hello from both members of staff as soon as I entered. Allowed me to look at the breakfast menu without harassment. Ordered a coffee, a lemon drink and 2 bacon & sausage cobs to take out. Well under £10 and an excellent latte in a disposable cup! A very pleasant environment decorated tastefully in black and orange with decor to match and comfortable wooden chairs, a couple of tables outside too. Very clean and tidy and no kitchen smells. Totally gobsmacked when the cobs arrived. Huge, well wrapped in foil and serviettes as well. Couldn't wait to get back to the car. My wife's eyes nearly popped out at the size of the cobs and they tasted as good as they looked. Still very warm (parked about 100m away). The cobs were soft and very tasty, as was the bacon & sausage, cooked perfectly! Will definitely return and try some different menu items, especially the lunch menu. Come and support an excellent local business, they really are worth it!!

Have had lunch several times since it changed from “The Good Old Days” cafe,friendly staff,food nicely presented. Will continue to use this place.

This cafe has had many owners. The latest one has made the place quite bright and more inviting. We called for coffee and cake ,it was nice to see the sugar in a closed container,just in case anyone decides to sneeze 🤧
