The Tearoom @ Holne Holne, Newton Abbot TQ13 7SL, England
Stopped here along with the Community shop - This used to be Holne Community Shop and Tea Room and just opened under this new name. We’re kind enough to sell me a lovely gluten free lemon cake before opening as I was walking, really tasty!
The food was amazing steak cooked to perfection. Good choice on the menu. The whole evening was great. Staff nothing was to much trouble. Nice friendly atmosphere. Most of all amazing food.
We had the Fixed Price Menu which was very tasty. They accommodated a gluten free vegetarian diet with ease. The staff were friendly and explained the meals as they arrived. We will be returning.
One of our favourite local cafes. We love to walk over from Jennycliff and stop for a coffee and sometimes lunch. The food is always amazing and the staff are always super friendly and welcoming - even when rushed off their feet. Pleasing vegan options. Great to sit outside when the weather is nice but also lovely in the winter inside.
The best pistachio ice cream I’ve probably ever had, and I’ve tried many in Italy! I was disappointed that I had missed out on the tiramisu but not for too long because the creamy pistachio with a slight saltiness was heavenly
After much cajoling and bribery involving a bacon roll , I convinced my older wife we should head out on the coastal path.
She is not a big fan of such endeavours with knees that have befuddled the finest NHS consultants.
But after much moaning, groaning and gnashing of false teeth we made it to this farming idyll.
Lovely cake and cans of pop assuaged her whining.
We set back off recharged and although we stopped constantly for clothing alterations and nose blowing (honk honk ) we returned to the streets of salcombe in triumph.
I would encourage all of you with older partners to push them (not literally) to test themselves and rage against ageing. We are the proof it works and now she has earned her tea which I will pay for .
Such a great place for either a relaxing glass of wine or a fantastic Italian meal. Felt so well looked after, the service was amazing and the food was terrific.
This is a charming little cafe, tucked away behind the Old Market, well worth tracking down. Seats around ten inside and another handful outside, overlooking the little square. Excellent coffee, great bruschetta on sourdough, local cakes and toasted sandwiches. We tried the Gruyere, ham and Dijon mustard toastie, which was excellent. Fresh croissants and home-made cakes, too. Friendly, personal service.
Although I intended to eat fish for every meal whilst in Dartmouth, I was so pleased that I came across Yarn and decided to have a burger.
Yarn is a wonderful small place and the burger was one of the best I have ever had. Pity I was not staying for longer to go another day.
This lovely little coffee shop is full of charm. Staff are very friendly and the coffee is excellent. I've been going every morning since being on holiday here in Dartmouth. It's a must for any coffee lover.

Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, I've never had Japanese before, and I'm so glad we did. We had the three set menus, vegan, fish and meat. All arriving as a tray of Miso soup, four side dishes (from memory, orange & carrot, brussel sprout & bell pepper, cucumber & bean sprouts and potato salad), rice and the main. Some unique (to me) flavour combinations but each good in their own ways. I had nettle fizz to drink which cleverly balanced some of the other flavours. For dessert we had coconut panna cotta, and the Matcha sundae. The food is definitely the reason to come and the flavour experience is something I'd like more of. So why only two stars overall? As a pre-booked meal, we could have been advised at any point - including on arrival that there's no heating (so that we either come dressed for alfresco dining, or offer to provide the meal as take away), it was uncomfortably off puttingly cold. Such a shame
