Our usual coffee shop has closed but sometimes things work out better. We tried woodroast as we are huge fans of Curator coffee from Totnes which is coffee roasted over wood. Hubby adores good coffee so he's very particular. We had a lovely welcome from the lady serving and then had the most scrummy cakes that she has made. Omg the baked cheesecake was to die for. I got the last piece and hubby wasn't happy but he then had a friand which he said was the best ever. And he loved the coffee as did I. So we have now found our new fav coffee shop in Dartmouth. Amazing x

Lovely little coffee shop serving great coffee, Served by Chelsea who gave us such great service, very attentive. We are just visiting the area for the day and would defo come back for a good brew.

So superb we had to go back the following day. Young man the first time and Chelsea the following day, both brilliant, hospitality par excellence. The friands delicious. A social atmosphere to relish during your two coffees at least! Looking forward to holidaying to Dartmouth in the future.

We were visiting Dartmouth and thought we'd try this small coffee shop off the main street. There was a very friendly welcome and the barrista was very interested in his job! We had the best Cortado we have had for a very long time. And the toilet was very clean.

Absolutely fantastic coffee and carrot cake. Someone with talent made the carrot cake,, delicious. Our friend also thoroughly enjoyed the baked cheesecake. Very nice coffees too. The owner was very chatty and friendly. If I lived in Dartmouth I would be a regular customer.

We wanted to go on a Mon but they are closed. So pleased we went back to Dartmouth a few days later. This is a delightful place for a coffee. Easy to locate opposite a deli & off one of the main streets. There’s a small amount of seating inside & a bench for 3 outside. We had flat whites which were good quality & faultless & two orange & chocolate friands (small cup cake size) which were freshly baked in-house & absolutely delicious. The female barista was super friendly & chatty & made us feel really welcome. Jugs of water with oranges in was a nice touch too. We also tried the Persian cake which looked like a work of art & tasted lovely. The cakes are super delicious & we really enjoyed our visit here.

Had delicious coffee and cake here recently. 2 lattes and we shared 2 cakes (the friand and the foreign one). Both cakes were fab and so fresh. Barista was very chatty and friendly. He recommended we go on the river cruise which we did and thoroughly enjoyed - thanks for the tip!

Popped in today for coffee and cake, lovely coffee, and delicious blueberry muffin. Cafe spotlessly clean, very friendly guy served us, and was happy for our dog to come in too. Up a little back street, but worth hunting out!

Offers wonderful tasting coffees served with care by friendly staff. Also does a fab hot chocolate. Offers a small but tempting range of cakes too. The shop is small, however it does have one large table in the window that can seat six or another...

me and my family were walking around and stumbled across this gem by chance. honestly one of the best hot chocolate and cakes i’ve ever had. i would definitely recommend. very small and cute. quick service and the man working was lovely.

Popped in here by chance, glad we did. The coffee was great and served by a professional Barista. The Cappuccino had real chocolate bits added to it, not the usual sprinkled powder. The loo was clean as was the cafe. A real delight.

Best coffee and cakes in Dartmouth. Lots of places may claim they know how to make an oat milk flat white, but the team at Woodroast seriously know their craft. And the cakes are amazing......Syrian polenta and Basque Cheesecake were sublime.

Popped in to grab a take-away while exploring Dartmouth- welcomed by a friendly barrista, the cafe is very small but has a nice ambience, and serves very good coffee and biscotti!

I had the Clementine and cardoman cake. Just wow. Hubby had a blueberry muffin. Never had anything so good before. Extremely fresh and moist.

The coffee here is unreal. I am so happy to find a place to drink good coffee. They obviously grind and roast fresh coffee and it fills me with joy. It is undoubtedly the best coffee in Dartmouth. Everywhere else tastes cheap compared to this coffee shrine.

My friend and I stopped by to try the coffee. Don't be put off by how small this place is as the coffee was fabulous and the Siberian cake full of flavours. The best cake I've had in ages. Customer service was great and the guy serving us had a calm laid back manner. I would highly recommend and dog friendly also.

Visited Dartmouth and decided to check the Woodroast coffee place after a quick google of local places. Firstly, the place is tiny! Only a couple of small tables inside. But go in, definitely worth it!!The staff are lovely. They do some amazing looking cakes too! Coffee is fantastic, one of the best i've had. It's woodroasted apparently, either way it was really good! Definitely recommend, i'd be here everyday if i was local!

While on holiday in Dartmouth, we had seen that Woodroast came out top for coffee so thought we would give a try. We agreed that this was the best coffee we had ever had. The cappuccino's were astonishing. If you like coffee and are in Dartmouth - you must go!

One of the best coffees in the Dartmouth area and the gluten free cakes are simply delicious, and, not just the standard chocolate brownie. On top of this the staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely going back👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

See title. They do very good coffee and offer vegan milk alternatives if needed. Very friendly staff and cosy seating indoors. They also sell the coffee beans they use in their coffees, and will grind them up for you as well. Definitely worth a visit.

Superb coffee, full of flavour and not overly bitter. The cake we had, syrian, was equally good tasting and feeling homemade. The cafe is small, but it's a lovely setting and staff were friendly. Highly recommended

Amazing coffee, the best cappuccino I’ve tasted for ages!! The service is 1st class too. When I’m next in Dartmouth I will definitely go back.

If you're looking for more than a simple kick of caffeine, if your coffee is important to you, if you're looking for a fantastic taste, great texture at the perfect temperature, if you truly want to savour a pleasurable cup of coffee, this is the only place to go in Dartmouth. We've been coming to the town at least four times a year for sixteen years and thank the stars for Karis and his understanding of coffee. Until he opened this little shop, the coffee in town was all the usual standard fare, but Woodroast has changed all that. Apart from their understanding of the bean and the temperature of the milk, there's the added bonus of homemade cake - particularly recommend a slice of Syrian cake, soft, crumbly, syrupy, just perfect. As you can tell, I can't recommend this place highly enough. Same for all those who run it and work there.

We always try and support local businesses instead of the big chains. Again we were not disappointed, fabulous coffee and great service. What more do you need?! Amazing.

I googled decent coffee in Dartmouth and Woodroast came up, saw the great reviews and in we went. It was fabulous. Warm friendly service to welcome us in. The coffee was outstanding, the best oat milk flat white I have had for a very long time. And the cakes are homemade and amazing too. Vegan chocolate and orange cake to die for, the non vegans loved it too! Brilliant find. Oh and they are dog friendly too.

The reviews are not wrong. The coffee here is the best I ever had. I am always keen to frequent independent cafes rather than chains and this coffee shop is testament to that! Friendly welcome and the best coffee, what's not to like?? Oh and dog friendly too!

Late in the day so opted for a single espresso rather than my usual morning double. I won't make the same mistake if I get the opportunity to visit again! The coffee was fabulous and prepared by someone who wanted to provide a great service.

Best coffee in a long time! Very impressed at the non-dairy milk choices (oatly barista and bonsoy) - coffee itself was perfect and barista clearly knew his stuff! Real flaked dark chocolate on the cappuccinos, however I had an oatly flat white!

This is a tiny coffee shop and you could easily miss it, if you can get in and a get a seat its a lovely friendly coffee shop serving really nice coffee-i guess the take away is pretty good too.

Very small coffee shop, nothing fancy or decorated in a way to distract you from a poor drink. It doesn't need to as the coffee speaks for itself. This is one of only two coffee shops I've really enjoyed my drink and felt it was way above average and way better than your standard chain coffee houses. Definitely another visit in the future for me.

Sometimes you follow a sign to ‘Artisan coffee’ and find average coffee, other times you find fabulous coffee... this is definitely the latter!

Popped in for a coffee and ended up buying cake too. The coffee was fabulous, they cleared know their beans. The Brioche bread and butter pudding was to die for. If we had been staying in Dartmouth this would have become a daily pilgrimage!

Called in here by accident, as the deli across the road (which I also believe is excellent!) was closed for building work. What a fantastic find. Fantastic coffee, prepared by someone who knows coffee and how to make it. No "wait at the end of the counter whilst I push the button of an automated machine" here! Had a Mocha and I don't usually go for milky drinks, but quite simply the best Mocha I've ever had. Considering a drive back to Dartmouth just for another coffee!!

This is a place to get good strong coffee in Dartmouth and has a children's play room where you can watch your children and still enjoy a relaxing coffee. It's a minimal shop setting with plenty of space and serves a limited range of cakes. A perfect venue for families.

Although primarily aimed at a younger market, we enjoyed the coffee and the service was friendly, nothing much else to say really - certainly worth a try as long as you don't want a flashy venue.

Always come here when visiting Dartmouth, the coffee is superb & the polenta cakes are to die for, make sure you visit here if you love proper authentic coffee!

You guys make the best coffee we have ever tasted in the UK. Keep doing what you do best! I also have soy milk in my coffee and they use the best.

Other reviewers see things that we did not. The coffee was not a particularly good blend or roast. It was barely warm - I know about too much heat ruining the flavour and extracting the wrong essences - but this was careless. When I visit places like this I think of The Algerian Coffee Shop in Old Compton Street where you can by excellent generic and blended coffee roasted perfectly for the style you prefer. I wish people who run these types of establishment would order some decent coffee and see what they are missing. We customers would only benefit.

This has quickly become one of our favourite cafes since we've been coming to Dartmouth.Tasted many cappuccinos in the past 20 years, including quite a few in Italy, and this is easily one of the best I've tasted outside Italy. Hardly any froth, not boiling hot so able to drink instantly and a fern on top.My wife adores the hot chocolate and we had a strawberry cake which was delicious along with a square of hot margarita pizza just like you get on the street in Florence and friendly service as well.

Friendly service, large interior with plenty of seating, clean, average price point charged for the usual array of coffee drinks. I prefer the coffee served at the Curator in Totnes, (Woodroast's parent/partner cafe), but will happily visit Woodroast again when next in Dartmouth.
