The best restaurants serving Default food in South Hams South West

I had the roast beef dinner at 6.45 pm. It was awful. Possibly it had been OK when cooked at lunchtime, but about 6 hours later the beef was tough, the vegetables plated with it were lukewarm and the separate dish of possibly broccoli (it was hard to tell), was extremely hot and almost as tough as the beef. If you can't cook a dinner at the right time, you shouldn't be offering it. The serving staff were delightful, they deserve better. Not to mention the poor customer.

Good spot for an enroute lunch. Food was fresh and well cooked, that was good value for money. A lovely lunch, will return.

Check out the Council hygiene status of this establishment. The window shows a 5. The real hygiene status is 1, as quoted on the Environmental Agency website. Today, the BBC have published a report about the number of establishments that lie about thier hygiene status. It's better to check their website than rely on the stickers in the window. 23/4/25 Good to see that they have made an effort to improve thier standards. It's now a hygiene status of 3.

Over £9 for two single scoop ice creams!!!Both in their chocolate cones - which really are not worth it. Not only that but rum and raisin ice cream was pretty bad, had bits of ice through it and was crunchy like it had been defrosted and refrozen. Would not recommend this place.

I have never been to a place which such a mix of reviews, but the gamble was worth it I think!!! Yes its small (half the charm if you ask me!) and it only has 5 (i think) big bench tables. Yes its not cheap but its FRESH fish, cooked right in front of you. The waitress was friendly, polite, and approachable. No-one minded our huge hairy dog, the food was amazing (scallops a particular highlight) and I was met with a free glass of prosecco for Mothers Day. Its a very cool little beach shack, with great atmosphere and great food. Book in advance! We loved it....thank you Beach House for a very memorable Mothers Day lunch! I did notice there was a VERY large queue for takeaway coffee etc outside which i can imagine is frustrating but as there is no where else serving coffee on a popular beach, i guess you have to expect a queue!

Came over today and it was just what I loved, the music, the decor and most definitely the views!

Thursday is steak night and we had rump steak with all the trimmings for two with a bottle of wine for £40! Delicious - what’s not to like! Very friendly and welcoming staff too.

Gorgeous outdoor seating area with separate bar! Excellent selection of beers, ciders, real ales and spirits. Super dog friendly, every single member of staff made such a fuss of my dog! Cask ales are kept beautifully! Have eaten here several times and the food has always been fantastic. Steak night on a Wednesday is awesome, you have to try the Tomahawk! Had the moules-frites today which were delicious! Well worth a visit if you happen to be in Dartmouth!

What a lovely spot. Beautiful garden on a beautiful day but I’m sure it’s a great bar when it’s chilly or wintery. I gather this has just changed hands but what good hands they passed to. We all had a different pint. Every one was immaculate. This is a pub of the highest order. We didn’t eat, so I can’t vouch for that. A great place to start or finish a walk. Thoroughly recommend.

Food is not so good sometimes ! They could step up and do better!

Ordered and paid for coffee and then was forgotten until reminded that we had been waiting for nearly 15 minutes. It wasn’t even very busy. We did receive a curt apology.

Visited in September with our 1 year old. Ordered a variety of cakes and drinks, all of which were excellent. Staff went to extra trouble to find an ice cream flavour that our daughter liked. Have visited before for cream tea, and also for lunch, excellent both times. Convenient little cafe when in Totnes

The Sunday Roast is profoundly flavoursome. Absolutely the best roast dinner dining out I have ever had. Even the brocoli was delicious! Hands down, an amazing experience, such a dreamy and delightful plate of food. Yummy!

Visited this establishment in the early evening for take away pizzas. We were given a very warm welcome to this small bustling restaurant. It was clean and tidy as were the staff serving. Easy to order from a very varied menu. We ordered 6 x 12” pizzas of different types and paid for them. We were given an approximate time to return to collect pizzas. We went for a stroll to get the car. Returning at allotted time to pick up our order. Order was ready and easy to collect. Pizzas were well packaged and piping hot. Very generous toppings which were delicious and fresh. Our family enjoyed these pizzas immensely. We can highly recommend this pizzeria and would buy from it again. Many Thanks

Excellent food and service, and beautiful ice cream. I had the chicken quesadilla and it was excellent. We also had beef chilli nachos, also delicious 😋
