We had a family celebration party nearby and first got to taste the pasties at Constantine Bay café the day before the party, then at the party itself ( several varieties, including vegetarian, chicken and meat) and then again the next day when we bought more to take home away from Cornwall. Superb tasting fillings, and pastry, just no comparison with supermarket offerings.

This was a perfect find. The menu is right up our alley - simple food done really well. Fish tacos were a treat, so good I had to drag the family back for a second round. I love places like this that focus on quality of food and service with no poncing around. Little comfort touches like blankets being provided for cooler nights (this is alfresco dining, some cover provided by tipis). If you’re in Padstow or even just within half an hour drive I’d recommend it. Great for kids - lovely setting. Try the tacos!

Sat out on the deck with great views out to the headland to have a late lunch. Staff very helpful and friendly. 'Dog friendly' outside on the deck (not inside, which is understandable). Service excellent, food quick and of good quality. Will definitely return! Absolutely no complaints!!!

Such lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. The majority of the food has a beautiful Spanish twist and is wonderful, the service is very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Some starters can be a little large so if you are aiming to get through to a sweet, be careful. Drinks are very reasonably priced.

We have visited The Venue countless times and it really is a “home from home” for us. The owners and staff couldn’t be more welcoming, they want you to enjoy your time here. We’ve only ever received the best customer service be it in the peak of Summer or depths of Winter. They serve really good pub grub at fair prices (a rarity round here). We’ve eaten here so many times and would especially recommend the fish and chips and the Sunday carvery. We’ve had numerous Sunday roasts around the area, but always book the Venue now, as it really can’t be beaten for quality and cost. There is regular entertainment on, but if that’s not your thing you’ll always get a warm welcome from Sam upstairs in the Sports Bar. Check out the Facebook page which is regularly updated with what’s going on as well as available offers on food/drink. I rarely write reviews, but this place really does deserve a good one!

It’s worth browsing the reviews of Embers before placing an order—not because they’re wildly inconsistent, but because a clear pattern emerges. And it’s not one the place seems eager to correct. There are, to be fair, plenty of people who’ve had a good experience. When it works, it works, artisan bases, decent toppings, the kind of pizza that scratches the right itch. But what stands out, time and again, is the front of house. Not rude exactly, but distinctly uninterested, as though they’re doing you a favour by taking your takeaway order. And the hour-long wait for three pizzas? Apparently fine. Normal, even. What tips that from forgivable to frustrating is what happens when something goes wrong. One of our pizzas was supposed to come with a soft-boiled egg. It arrived with no egg at all. After returning to point it out, the pizza was taken back, only to re-emerge minutes later with a refrigerated hard-boiled egg dumped on top. Stone cold. By that point, so was the pizza. When I mentioned it, the response was a casual “That’s the best we can do.” No apology, no fix, no sense that anyone cared. And that, really, is the issue. Not the mistake, but the indifference. So yes, plenty of people enjoy Embers when all goes to plan. But if it doesn’t, don’t expect much in the way of care or correction. Just a cold egg on a cold pizza—and a shrug.

Used to be a great cafe within a local garden centre where you could guarantee a well cooked, reasonably priced meal. Not anymore!. Just paid £15.00 for undercooked approx 4 ounce burger with a slice of cheddar cheese, 2 slices of tomato and 2 slices of gherkin plus 'chips'. All food lukewarm. This is Cornwall, not Fitzrovia, and even though Mr Ramsay lives here for some of the year no excuse for charging same amount as we pay for a decent burger in his latest restaurant venture. I did ask the waitress to mention my complaints to the 'chef' but this fell on deaf ears. Will not be returning. You have been warned!

The Sobrasada – Mafaldine pasta was one of; if not then best, vegan meal I've ever had. The perfect spot for dinner and a drink after a long day on the beach. Sam our sever was delightful and very attentive, especially towards our little boy. We will without doubt be back.

We stayed here for two nights over Easter. The hotel is well looked after and the design is really nice. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The location is fantastic. The only thing that I found a bit annoying is that they charge their hotel guests extra £10/night for parking.
