Lovely friendly staff. Busy little shop and I can see why...the food is amazing! Lovely bakery and fresh deli salads. We found this bakery on our 3th day of our holiday and it became a regular stop! Wish we had the chain in Devon!

Been visiting for years, always on my list to visit the best bakery/deli in the country! It has to be more than once too! Service is 100% excellent, food and drinks 100% excellent! Best bacon and egg baguette and I love the Rock Buns! St.Merryn would not be the same without this little gem!

The best around. Nothing compares to Barnecutt's. We have been going for years as a family and wouldn't go anywhere else for pasties! Keep up the good work James & Co

Luxury Fish pie ….. this is anything but basically a mash potato pie with unappetising small pies of fish and egg. No prawns, dry, bland, very expensive and basically fed to the dog! I have always been an advocate of Barnecutts pasties but even this seemed to be lack lustre, with less beef

Smart and very busy deli/bakery situated in the main town. Bakery orders can be placed for local pickup. Offer cakes, pastries, savoury goods and drinks. Very popular as queue was long, staff were great and quick to serve.

Nice pasties but dreadful service with a snarl. Both female staff members looked depressed and were very unhelpful. Won’t be going back. No manners and gave the impression we were getting in their way while they cleaned glass counter front. Rude to my 16 year old son asking for a chicken pastie. Apparently you don’t do them in contrast to the advert in the window ‘try out new chicken pastie’. Not a nice start to our beach day out on our hols. They could at least pretend to be civil!

As a child I remember Barnecutts doughnuts as the best ever. I am now in my 60s and they are still the best ever! ❤️

Visited the deli today for a spot of lunch as a family of 5. We are regular visitors to Cornwall, staying at Treyarnon Bay and have sampled Malcolm Barnecutt pastries many times from the Treyarnon Bay Stores shop. Unfortunately, the pasties we’ve had have always been cold as no oven there so we visited the deli to sample their offerings. Our children had a mixture of sandwhiches and sausage rolls. My husband and I had a salad pot and shared a cheese & onion pastie. Absolutely delicious!!!! Top marks. We had a coffee & a flapjack too. We will be back ! Excellent 👌🏼

Very disappointing, paid £5 for a "steak" pasty to find no steak in the steak pasty, be warned, I won't be buying a steak pasty from here again.

This place is amazing.will definitely be recommending.The pastys and donuts are delicious as were the cheese and bacon twists,tiffin,iced Chelsea buns and sausage rolls.

Steak pasties were the best! Gorgeous pastry and lovely moist tasty filling. Also had a bowl of mixed salads from the deli, there's a big selection, delicious. Family size treacle tart and cheese pastry bites. All good!

Absolutely yummy! Quality flavoursome food. I wish it was on my doorstep! The pasties were the very best I have ever sampled, bread was a mix of staple and artisan, and don't get me started on the cakes!

Stopped off to buy some real Cornish pasties from this bakery whilst caravanning locally. Best I've ever tasted. Bought 6 to take home for my daughter, but my wife and I were forced to consume 2 for lunch, the waffing smell was too much. Lovely.

First rate pasties and wonderful coffee and breakfast rolls. We’ve been coming here for about 20 years. The Cornish pasties are the best we’ve had (and we’ve tried a lot!). Great coffee and breakfast rolls. Lovely selection of sandwiches and build your own salads. Cold drinks too. Good selection of cakes and lots for the little ones. Stop off here every day that we head to the beach. It’s become a welcome tradition. Recently learned we can order pasties by post so guess what’s next! Staff always quick to serve you and they get VERY busy. They work damned hard so thank you ladies.

Another visit whilst on holiday in Cornwall. Always a great choice of pastries, cakes and of course pasties. I have tried lots of pasties but have to say these are the best. Go for the large if you are feeling hungry.

When you're far away from home and can't make your own pasties, Barnecutt's are as good a substitute as you'll get. On a cold, rainy October day, the only thing wrong with our pasties was that we ate them too quickly!

Their freshly baked foods are a real treat and are very popular with both locals and visitors. Pasties are my favourite.

This place is amazing, great break, pasties, croissants and the deli counter serves some delicious salads. Wish I lived locally, although it may not do my waistline much good!

Popped in early in the morning and knew it would be good because of the queue including many local tradesmen. Had breakfast baps and some doughnuts ....all fantastic and really lovely. Covid19 precautions all in place. I just wish there was a sign outside so...

What a joy to find a decent pasty place open! Didnt expect to see Barnecutts open as we passed after visiting the beach, so immediately we pulled in for a tasty treat! Nice and hot and fresh, really hit the spot, proper job!

Always a queue and for good reason , the quality of baking and produce is first class especially the traditional steak pasties which in my humble opinion are the best on the world !

We chose a made to order tuna sandwich, sausage roll and a bowl of salad. It was all very tasty and filling. The staff were all friendly and it is obviously very popular with the locals

At the price pasties are nowadays they should be perfect every time, but it’s so random. Sometimes burnt sometimes the spuds undercooked. Malcolm Barnecutts was my favourite being a Wadebridge boy but just average now

Always a queue means fantastic food for sale. The cakes and pastries look amazing and the savouries give a great variety as well as the usual pasty options. We ordered a birthday cake which was fabulous and tasted superb.

If every cheese and onion pasty tasted like this I'd probably not have gone decades without eating one! Absolutely top draw. Family all enjoyed their food, nice selection and friendly staff. Limited parking outside the shop or else go for nearby street parking.

Does it all, and superbly well. Great staff, lovely coffee, and superb produce. Still haven’t found a tastier pasty in all of Cornwall, despite everyone claiming to have won a ton of awards!!🤣

We always Barnecutt’s when we holiday for 3 weeks in cornwall, and always have their pasties, but this year their skimping on their steak!! All of our pasties that we have bought have been lacking steak, we thought it might of been a batch, but unfortunately not, we bought pasties from Padstow during the week and they were filled with superb steak and lots of it. Big shame as we love buying from Barnecutts....!

Visited to grab some lunch when staying nearby.Place looked clean and tidy and we were pleasantly surprised with the vast selection, although nothing had been labelled correctly so it was quite hard to understand what each thing was.The staff seemed efficient, but not particularly friendly - we felt a little rushed as we were all unsure what we wanted.Some of us had pasties - steak and Stilton being a favourite. Another had a baguette which was monstrous and great value for money. Someone also had salad which was very expensive for the size and quality.Good for grabbing food on-the-go, but not quite like a traditional Cornish bakery you’d find in the harbours.

We stopped by to purchase breakfast and a lunch pack up for the beach. With drinks, ham, cheese, gorgeous Cornish butter, cakes, salad, bread and pastries we managed to spend £26 which probably sounds a lot but we all really enjoyed everything and would definitely return. We had the tiger bread, ring donut, peanut butter bar, cupcake and a selection of salads from the deli. Service was great too! Would definitely return.

We were staying in Trevone and this is the nearest bakery, we found it to be very good for all items and the staff are very patient and friendly. This is a busy place so go early if you want a specific item as they sell out.

We popped in for breakfast and it was just what we were after, something quick it really good quality. We could have bought so much though, everything looked great!!

The pasties are to die for . Once tasted you will be back for more . We were in ST Merryn in May 2019 and visited this place 8 times . Our favourite ones were the medium cheese and onion ones . Just a tip , dinner times are the busiest time so get there early so your not disappointed . My partner also loved their doughnuts , she loved that they were freshly made

Consumed a number of pasties on holiday in the St Merryn / Padstow area and the one from Malcolm Barnecutt's Deli was easily the best. Highly recommended.

We went 4 times whilst on a weeks holiday at Treyarnon Bay. The pasties were the best we had and reasonable too. Cakes were good and lots of choice. Saffron buns were excellent. Very busy and parking a bit of a nightmare. I went in twice - my husband went the other times - and found the staff to be efficient but definitely not friendly. It felt like I wasn't really welcome.

We used this bakers a few times whilst on holiday and the quality of the sandwiches and cakes was very high.

Wonderful saffron cake sold here. Worth making a detour but there are a whole range of bakery products too. Nice to be able to support a local business

Tried this Baker recently whilst using the local shop across the road.Wow, really are the best pasties we have eaten in a long time!Full of meat and veg.Seriously good.Also had a couple of cakes which were also delicious.Keep up the good work.Does not help our waist lines but definately helps our hungry tummies.See you again.

All produce fresh and super tasty! They do a good coffee and a range of fresh daily specials. The staff friendly.

Don't go in here if you're on a diet! Lovely bread, scrumptious pasties, cakes & pastries to die for, not to mention the delicious looking deli delights. Barnecutt's is a standard visit every time we're in St Merryn.

Probably the best seeded loaf I have ever tasted. Freshly baked, had it cut thick, and it was delicious. The whole bakery was full of wonderful looking breads, pastries and cakes and smelt divine. A few stools in the window to eat filled hot and cold rolls etc seemed to be very popular. A gem.

We have always been supporters of this deli and bakery, but this year upon visiting the deli in St Merryn we were surprised in the changes, whilst everything was of a good standard it was missing the unusual items that you would often find. We collected pasties to bring home to Yorkshire, which went down a storm.

Freshly made sandwiches, great pasties and a good looking Bakewell Tart still to taste later. Shops all round North Cornwall so no excuse to not visiting one of the shops.

It is quite an experience! Arrived to buy pasties for a healthy lunch and the queue was outside the door! Plenty of staff so it moved quickly, but you need to know what you want!

My husband, 80-year-old father and I visited this bakery to buy some lunch one afternoon during week commencing June 4 2018 while staying in nearby Harlyn Bay. Having been to other Malcolm Barnecutt shops in Newquay and Rock on previous occasions, we were really looking forward to trying some delicious pasties and cakes and receiving a warm welcome as we have received previously. Unfortunately, the two women working in this bakery were unsmiling and unhelpful from the start. They were clearly irritated by our polite questions about availability of pasties and sandwiches etc and barked answers at us even though there were no other customers in the shop so they had plenty of time to help us. They made us feel so unwelcome and such an inconvenience that we considered leaving without buying anything but my elderly father was hungry so we quickly made our purchases and left. It comes to something when we would recommend visiting the bakery in Tesco in nearby Padstow - where the staff are friendly and don't hate tourists - than ever return to this bakery. What a disappointment.

We visited this bakery on the way to Harlyn bay, and picked up a few pasties. They were really good - good filling, flavour, and the pastry was just right!

Just home from 10 days in St Merryn and can say that this local bakers has had a very modern refit and continues to make the best tasting Cornish pasty I've yet to taste!

For the best pasties and saffron cake s must visit. Parking is bit of a nightmare though, I used the side streets. Only open 730 till 3.

I find that a lot of pasties can taste quite peppery and this often is too much for the kids. The pasties from Malcolm Barnecutt are really good, full of meat in a crisp pastry and the kids loved them too which is always a good sign. The adults thought they were pretty good too! Definitely worth a visit.

We got some bread rolls from here a few times whilst staying in Harlyn and they were some of the tastiest we've ever had! Great scones too. Didn't try the variety of cakes, but they looked lovely. Friendly staff, lots of good food available and well priced (for a tourist spot).

Definitely THE best bakers we've ever been in. Not just for their Cornish Pasties, but the whole range of stuff. If you can catch a time when it's available, you MUST try the Ham & Egg pie - makes a perfect bkfst. Our last stop before leaving for the drive home; pasties for the journey and some for the home freezer too!

Not artisan, but of a pretty good quality. The filled rolls are fresh, the deli food is also nice. Coffee is good. Pasties also good. Friendly staff.

We were staying in the local area and popped in to buy lunch. Was suprised at the amount of choice of cakes and pastries. Everything looked lovely and was very well presented. Our only complaint is that when we came back another day at 4pm they had already closed. Would defintely recommend

Just love this place! Love the malted bread, nice and chewy as toast. The pastries are lovely. We also came for lunch and sat outside watching the world go by. The falafel panini and cheese and ham panini were lovely very tasty. The coffees are top class! I left my phone here and didn’t realise and the assistant recognised me and came running over with it! So lucky!

Staff are amazing, sandwiches, cakes and deli are really good. Only downside is the pasty's are always cold whenever we visit.

There is a good selection of cakes, bread, sandwiches, etc. The pasties and doughnuts are delicious and well worth it. It was very busy, which was a good sign but I do think the staff could have been friendlier.

We love Barnecotts and visit daily to collect tiger rolls, croissants and pasties when on holiday. Friendly staff and great value prices keep repeat business flowing. Miles better than the many chain pasty shops in North Cornwall.

We've always rated this bakery when we visit Cornwall, great selection of fresh pasties, sandwiches and a decent salad bar/deli only a stones throw away from Padstow.

Sat outside had brie,bacon and red currant sauce baguette. Coffee was nice. Sausage rolls excellent. Pies smelled wonderful!

Lovely food, you can make a more nutritional choice by going for a salad from the deli bar- made up of pastas, roasted vegetables, olives etc or there's always the pastys, pizzas, paninis and also hot breakfast baguettes.

The ladies that serve in the bakers are friendly and welcoming and very patient too. We visit this bakery every summer when we are on holiday and stock up on sausage, bacon and egg rolls for breakfast, coffee, smoothies and then pasties and cakes. Everything is fresh, tasty and truly adds a massive part to our holiday!

This bakery is simply the best. Great produce that sells out on a daily basis. When the hoards arrive in August you need to get there early or be disappointed

Found this little gem in St Merryn a bit late on our first morning where unfortunately for us all the crossiants had sold out. The lady offered to put some by the following morning however we declined as we hadn't made plans for the following day. We popped in again on the Friday before starting our journey home and ordered coffee and crossiants as well as cakes and well stuffed rolls to take with us. My wife doesn't like butter and this wasn't a problem as they offered to a fresh roll there and then. This is a busy little place that serves good fresh food (but get there early to avoid disappointment).

Awesome bakery offering take our sandwiches, cobs, salads and cakes etc. We had some cobs made up while we waited and ordered cakes too. The food was all very fresh and excellent. A superb choice - and the cakes - omg the cakes were amazing. This bakery was recommended to us and so glad we went in. Will definitely use again. The shop assistants are all very friendly and can't do enough for you.

As the son of a Cornishman I have been coming here for 55 years. I love pasties ( meat only!) and to me despite other makers claims these are the best. In addition I have just discovered their doughnuts and othe produce are just as good. The shop is always busy filled with local workers and the staff, I think, have noted the previous comments about customer service

Best home made rolls we have ever had and the Steak Pasty was just sublime - why make a picnic for the beach when you get sandwiches, rolls, pasty, fruit, cakes etc of this quality from this Deli

Stopped whilst in St Austell whilst on short break, for some lunch. I had a jacket potato with beans, cheese and bacon and a water, and my husband had a tuna mayo sandwich which came with crisps and an Elderflower Pressé.My hubby enjoyed his lunch and loved the pressé.My jacket was really lovely and tasty and piping hot. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Thanks all would definitely go back.

When down in Cornwall always make an effort to pop in. Popped in for a bacon and egg sandwich and have to say it was one of the best ever. On our last day made sure we got our supplies for tea at home that night. A large Steak pasty for me, love the fact they are not peppery! Perfect flavour. And my wife had the vegetable pasty which is basically a normal pasty without the meat, she loved it. Lots to choose from in the cake department too!

Barnecutt's really have established themselves as the premier bakery on Cornwall's north coast. Superb tasting and generously filled pasties, great pastry crust.Lots of other delicacies on offer.

Twice now have been here asked for egg mayo, to be told they had none. Why would you not have egg made up in a bakery at lunchtime. Then twice asked for prawn and marie rose sandwich and rudely asked "isn't there any in the cooler". If I wanted a soggy sandwich i would of looked, but seeing as I wanted a fresh sandwich, as it's a bakery I thought I'd ask. Also, the prawn and Marie rose was extremely dry and had little sauce. I had to add my own mayo and paprika to it. I will say the cakes are extremely nice but when asked to make fresh sandwiches they don't seem to like that.
