Used to be a great cafe within a local garden centre where you could guarantee a well cooked, reasonably priced meal. Not anymore!. Just paid £15.00 for undercooked approx 4 ounce burger with a slice of cheddar cheese, 2 slices of tomato and 2 slices of gherkin plus 'chips'. All food lukewarm. This is Cornwall, not Fitzrovia, and even though Mr Ramsay lives here for some of the year no excuse for charging same amount as we pay for a decent burger in his latest restaurant venture. I did ask the waitress to mention my complaints to the 'chef' but this fell on deaf ears. Will not be returning. You have been warned!

I have been here on numerous occasions and have always been moderately satisfied However on this occasion I was somewhat surprised at the prices. One bacon sandwich (on brown bread) and two cups of tea , £11 !!! It always our first stop on our frequent visits to Padstow, but at these prices we will not be stopping again.

Popped in for coffee and cake. Reasonably busy, probably 1/3 or so tables taken. Given menu and asked to take a seat, then our order would be taken. It took over 25 minutes for someone to approach us, as it appeared we had been forgotten. Many customers had left and the place was quiet by then. Other customers had arrived, had their order taken and had been served and still we sat. The server finally approached us, but was intercepted by a couple at the next table who had finished their breakfast, but wanted coffee. So, their order was taken, then ours. Theirs was served, but we then had to wait, as other diners approached the counter to pay. No apology for our wait, which would have made such a difference. Eventually our coffee and cake arrived, but we had to ask for the hot milk which we had ordered. When my husband paid the bill, the waitress had to ask which table we had sat at (the one in the middle if the room in full view of the counter, which you could not see!). It was all very odd and I put it down to staff shortages, but also, poor custoner services, as the waitress seemed unable to prioritise adequately (at one point she was putting g crockery away, whilst we waited for our order to be taken). I was very surprised by all this, as we have been here countless times in the past and never had a problem. We enjoyed Sunday lunch here last week. The food is always excellent too.

After a fairly long wait to be served, we ordered the cream tea for two. When it arrived, we noticed green/blue fuzzy mould on the top and sides of the plain scones. When I complained to the waitress, she told me that they were cooked two days ago so there shouldn't be mould?! Even though she could clearly see the mould! She then told me she could replace the plain scones but they would be from the same batch so may also have mould. I declined and opted for a different type of scone. The waitress then took the mouldy scones off my plate and put them back onto the serving plate with all the scones still for sale! Absolutely disgusting food hygiene! This waitress then avoided us for the rest of our visit after a half-arsed apology in which she insisted the 'fresh scones' we had bought we're only cooked 2 days ago and 'should be fine'. As we left, I could clearly see the mouldy batch of scones still out for sale... I just feel sorry for anyone else who had to eat them! Needless to say, we didn't enjoy our visit and won't be returning.

A very long wait for gluten free fish and chips while other people arrived, were seated, served fish and chips... then puddings. We had to ask for it to be boxed up in the end and wished we hadn't because it was undercooked and horrible. When I complained to the waitress about how long it had taken, she said it was because I had ordered a 'different' meal.

I found this place online - was thinking it would be a nice restaurant for a celebration dinner of my 25th year living in London (I’m from South Africa originally), and I love Italian food. Well, I should’ve stayed back in E14 and gone to our local Italian Il Bianco City Island which has better food and at half the price. Staff and ambience were lovely but the portions of food (5 ravioli as a main for £23!?) and a watery duck egg starter with ‘Parmesan foam’ (yep, one of THOSE places), were very disappointing. I’m no stranger to paying for excellent wine - remember I’m from SA and my sister is a wine master - but the eye watering prices on the wine list make it really inaccessible. It misses a trick; for an average neighbourhood restaurant it is trying to be too fancy for its own worth. I’d avoid this place and spend your £200 for two dinner at another place (we had 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 cocktails and a bottle of wine, one amaretto and a dessert for that). I’d recommend Caprici on the south bank or Fumo if you need to be more central. And of course if you’re in the docklands, go to Il Bianco City Island - you’ll have a better time and pay less.

We had passed the Garden Centre several times in the course of our week's holiday and when we arrived without booking on Thursday night we were the only couple in the restaurant which might have put us off ordinarily but we sat doen and so so glad that we did!! The Restaurant is really modern yet comfortable and the food was superb!! We were offred the most divine Homemade Foccacia with Herb butter for the table then we had one starter of Newlyn Haddock Goujons, freshly breaded and with Homemade Tartare Sauce followed with 10oz Ribeye and Pan Roasted Chicken with Potato Fondant, these were simply put excellent, my steak was served with Henk's famous chips and they are stars in their own right!! Then Pavlova and the RNLI award winning Sticky Toffee Pudding which was to die for.........there is apparently a fight to the death competition in the area about who has the best pudding recipe!! The service too was superb and judged just right. We went back for breakfast on Saturday too and this was so good and although a little more expensive than other places well worth it!! Do not miss out!!

The garden centre itself is an interesting place to look round and different from others with lots of different products. The restaurant is spacious and there is also some seating outside.I can't comment on the food because I haven't had a meal there yet just a coffee but the menu does look enticing. The staff are friendly in the shop but on the two occasions that I visited for a coffee the staff didn't seem to want to stop talking to each other to serve me which was a bit off putting.I will be visiting again when staying in Padstow.

I can’t rate this high enough, Sunday lunch was delicious. I had the beef and gammon it was cooked to perfection. A good and varied selection of vegetables again beautifully cooked. The staff were polite and informative, the setting informal and comfortable. It was very good value for money. The meat portions were extremely generous and vegetables were self service, which I must admit I find ideal. We were to full for deserts which look yummy. I am now in two minds if I rave to much might be more popular but I want them to know just how much we all enjoyed our meal.

This is about the fifth time we have visited, on this occasion it was for breakfast. It was early morning so not to busy, we sat at a table and I went to the counter to order. The assistant saw me but continued to talk to another member of staff for several minutes, she then proceeded to prepare pots of tea, turning round and asking want I wanted. I gave my order, after completing her task she then attended to me asking again what I wanted. She was unfriendly and non communicative. There was quite a wait for breakfast, it was OK but not the previous standard of food we have enjoyed here. The floor was dirty with indoor plants shedding everywhere, the toilets we not as clean as previous visits. This has been on previous visits a fantastic cafe/ restaurant unfortunately standards are slipping.

Lovely sausage & egg breakfast sarnie & nice coffee, toilets were clean & tidy. Staff were lovely. Only criticism was the dog roaming freely around the restaurant, it kept stopping & begging for food right at our table & to be honest it felt like we couldn’t shoo it away, I’m assuming it was the owners dog maybe as it seemed to have free run of the shop too. We called in for breakfast and my partner was going to have the full English but at £8.50 we would have liked to have seen what was on the plate as there was no menu and he's a bit on the fussy side... he wont eat hash browns, mushrooms, black pudding or fried egg and there was no way of knowing if any of these would appear on his plate. I suppose we could have asked but by the time we got to the counter we had decided to go for the bacon sandwich and we are very pleased we did as these were the best bacon sandwiches we've ever had. We visited Trevisker's Kitchen with our daughter, this was her first visit and our third. I can only say this is a hidden gem of a place. The food is excellent, it is so difficult to choose from the menu. Henk did me a special starter as I had tried the dish in the summer and was keen to have it again but it was not on the menu - warm salad of local mushrooms, chorizo and bacon. My main was Pork Belly to die for, my husband had scallops to start and sea bass on a bed of pea risotto for a main dish and a sticky toffee pud to finish, my daughter had squid to start, beef fillet with beef shin and potato rosti for a main and she finished with a Lemon Posset. Henk served us a complimentary desert wine and white chocolate fudge to end our experience in style. well done Henk and team, an amazing job well done. Can't wait for our next visit.

Two of us called in for tea and cake. It was about 3.30pm and they were in the process of replenishing the cakes- they all looked very inviting. The staff were busy chatting so we waited until they had finished. My teapot was half filled so I asked for more water. As we sat enjoying the tea and cakes we noticed several times customers were kept waiting while the staff chatted. We then saw a member of staff had very baggy sleeves that were dragging over the food- not good. However we then saw her using a slice to serve the cakes but actually picking up the cakes with her fingers and then handling money. It seems more staff training is needed to ensure customers are served promptly and that good hygiene standards are practiced. A real shame.

We ate (in the evening) in the main restaurant, which is spacious, airy and bright. There are more tables in a conservatory extension for use in warmer weather. Our food was very good: an avocado and salmon salad, a goat’s cheese salad, followed by roasted hake. We shared a dessert of 4 scoops of good ice cream, but it was served in a tall, narrow glass so one could only eat one flavour at a time – a wider dish would have been better. Very efficient and cheerful service. Good value - for example the hake dish was a very modest £14.

We tried the new Margot's at Trevisker and to be honest we were bit disappointed. The choices in the evening were a bit unexciting and safe, though well cooked and served with eagerness and enthusiasm by mainly young and inexperienced staff. The duck confit was delicious, the steak flavoursome, but there was no 'wow' factor.

After a very successful stint at the old mill Adrian Oliver is back and Margot's has been reborn at the Trevisker garden centre. Dont be fooled into thinking this is your average garden centre cafe, couldn't be further from the truth. They do breakfasts and light lunches but in the evening it comes alive with the cullinery skills that have been Adrians trade mark for many years. Please make the effort to visit if you are in the area you wont be dissapointed.

Tried the cafe for lunch. So good went back the next day. Looking forward to trying their evening menu. To find such an interesting menu and such well cooked food in a cafe is rare. A huge recommend.

This is a newly opened restaurant attached to the garden centre, everywhere is 'dog friendly '. We called in for breakfast, there was a warm welcome, great choice on the menu. We did not have to wait long for our food to arrive, it was well presented, tasty and good value. There is passion for food and service embedded in this new venture, long may it remain. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in here for a cream tea, deliciously warm scones with jam and clotted cream, a real treat. Very reasonably priced. The staff were lovely, very friendly, would definitely recommend.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
