Lovely Padstow pub, been there for ages. Frequented by tourists and locals alike. Always friendly service. Had the small plates and they were very tasty (shout out to chef, who I think is called Archie).

I went in today just to have a drink and was made to feel very welcome by Chris and Paulina they made my stay a pleasure, thank you

Fantastic service and views of Padstow harbour, Great variety of food (cooked to perfection) and a good selection of drinks. Our kids and dogs were made very welcome. Very Highly Recommended!! We will definitely be coming back in August.

Came to Cornwall on a girls trip. The Shipwrights was the perfect place for a few drinks and dinner. Our sever, Rhiannon was very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone visiting.

Been here a few times as live fairly close. Normally just a drink after a local visit or walk to padstow. Decent beer and good atmosphere with friendly staff. This Sunday had a roast and it was really good. Had a beef brisket. Veg was great and perfect portion size. Will defo be back for a Sunday roast again and sometime through the week to check out the rest of the menu!! (Was a precious 5 star score) Update 09 Feb 2025 (Down to 2 stars) Disappointed with the change in menu. Came for a Sunday roast but disappointed in the very limited new options available. Not sure why the changes had been made? Guess it's a management decision. The Brie and Canberry tart was a favourite and for some reason no longer available. Service and food that we had was good but didn't get what we wanted.

Just came for a pint after a seafood cookery course at Steins. Had a warm and friendly welcome by staff and the Moretti was great as always by St Austell pubs. Even better we met our fabulous manager at Haveners in Fowey who looked after us impeccably Thoroughly recommend. And the music is good too!

We had a cracking Sunday lunch in the Shipwrights, slow cooked brisket, and it was probably the best bit of beef we have ever had.

I popped in for fish and chips on a cold December night. Everything was lovely.

Had a nice meal here with the family, and got 25% off with St Austell's new year scratchcard which was a bonus!

We had a lovely dinner on NYE. They were extremely busy but the copped amazingly and the food/ service was superb.

7 of us turned up in the restaurant unannounced the immediate welcome from the lovely lady was warm and friendly together with her colleague. I’m writing this review to recommend the ‘Fish & Chips’ a beautiful fillet of fabulous fresh Hake crispy battered and arrived at the table hot off the pass. If you like F&C this is a stunner hard to beat by any Celeb Chef in Town. 😎👍

Fantastic Christmas menu from Reece, head chef, coupled with a bucket of bottled Korev and Tribute, an absolute bargain!

Been here before for drinks, and sat outside. Cold and windy on this late November day, so sat inside, good atmosphere and food, in a good setting (fish finger sandwich and fries)

Excellent food it was the best vegetarian food I had eaten all week. Very welcoming.

We had 2 beef sunday lunches, which were very nice. The staff were great and the restaurant is dog friendly.

Lovely pub atmosphere, friendly service, even patient with my grumpy border collie, giving him a peace offering. The hake had the crispiest batter ever experienced (perfect), and the fish was beautiful to eat. Can't recommend it enough. It is a little costly, but more than worth it. Chips also splendid. Nice choice of beers and ciders too. Great anniversary lunch. Thank you.

Stopped in for a pint. Great cider and a beautiful old pub. Quite understaffed but it was a busy Sunday lunchtime.

Great pub overlooking the harbour. Plenty of seating inside and out. We only had a drink but plenty of choice and quick service

Come to Padstow every couple of months and have never eaten here, so thought we'd give Sunday lunch a go. Restaurant upstairs was about half full, but only 1 waitress was on (Ellie) she was working so hard taking the orders, bringing out food and clearing plates... but did so with a smile on her face the whole time. The Sunday lunch was fairly good in value for the price. Roast Pork was really well cooked and tasty, and the potatoes /yorkshires were lovely, veg a bit underwhelming, but on the whole, we were happy with our meal and would eat here again.

A really pleasant pub with equally pleasant staff. Food was really nice, as a family of 4 we shared 2 starters, had a main each and shared 2 deserts. 3 pints and 1 pint of coke - £100. Pretty good value. Only gave a 4 for food as my burger had a bit of fat ooze when I was biting in to it but that said it happens in most places I’ve had a real meat beef burger - the meat itself tasted very nice indeed.

We only visited for a couple of drinks so I can't comment on the food but what was coming out of the kitchen looked decent enough. Great location right in the harbour with a decent selection of drinks to choose from.

I took my parents here for a Sunday roast, the food was excellent, succulent beef, crispy roast potatoes and plenty of veg too and the sticky toffee pudding was delicious! Staff were friendly and efficient and we all really enjoyed it.

We’ve just had our best meal of the week at the Shipwrights. Our steaks were perfectly cooked (and delicious) and Chris, who served us, recommended wine and could not have been more helpful! Thank you for a great evening, we will definitely come again when we return to Padstow

Pub with great views over the estuary and harbour.

I can't say exactly what it is, but I get drawn to this pub whenever I come into Padstow. I think it is because it is down to Earth and not pretentious. The place doesn't try to sell itself with silly gimmicks and attracts a relaxed customer.

A good pub with efficient service and a large restaurant area upstairs in case of British summer weather.

Popped in for coffee on a wet September Thursday lunchtime. Loved it - had a very tasty crab sandwich and fries and a relaxing glass of wine. Very dog friendly. Staff couldn’t be friendlier.

During our week long stay in July we visited a few times. Staff were always friendly and on the ball at busy times. If you can't get a table overlooking the harbour, there's a great garden out the back too. Didn't manage to try the food, but a really well run pub with lovely staff.

Absolutely no vegetarian options at all apart from a burger.. poor show for such a lovely pub. The food here used to be superb. We had to order 2 plates of fries ! . Disappointed

Was looking for somewhere to have a light lunch while exploring Padstow, and decided to try this historic pub on the busy harbourfront. There's a choice between outside tables on the quayside, a ground floor bar, an upstairs restaurant and a beer garden behind the pub. The outside tables were all occupied, so I took a seat in the bar with its wooden beams, old brick fireplace, and nautical decorations that included paddles and rope. There are TV screens if you want to watch sport. Great background music too. Family and dog friendly. The well stocked bar had a wide choice of Cornish beers and ales, and a chatty, friendly barman who suggested one of the Cornish lagers. Ordered half a pint, and it was really good! The lunch menu offered plenty of choice that included sandwiches and baguettes, light bites, dressed crab, and fish and chips. I opted for a crab sandwich. Definitely a cut above average! Thick slices of seeded bread that was very fresh, lots of crab meat in lemon mayo and creme fraiche, served with seasoned fries and a pot of brown crab mayonnaise. It was delicious, and very filling too, though pricey at £18. But overall an enjoyable lunch experience.

We only stopped in for a drink whilst visiting Padstow and were surprised by how charming the pub is. Lots of original features, beautiful old beams and very sympathetic decor. I was fascinated by the display of traditional knots! Drinks were reasonably priced and there were dog biscuits for your canine friend too!

Ordered 2 adults mains ( 2 lots of Crab linguine) and 2 kids meals. Unfortunately had to send all the food back as it was cold. Food came again and as nice as our mains were, my youngest was served hard, undercooked pasta. Staff were very accommodating and took it off the bill but wouldn't return for a meal.

Food was great, disappointed not to have the Lafage Rose wine available by the glass like the other pubs in the same chain, The Oystercatcher and The Custom House. The service started off great, but tailed off towards the end of our meal. We would return though.

Tried to sit outside in the sunshine with a beer, there was a free table but no chairs, upon using an unused chair from inside the pub I was promptly told `indoor chairs can't be used out doors' (who knew) now i understand if they were sumptuously cushioned or of an antique heritage but looking like they were long over due being used for firewood I'm not sure what the problem was, apparently those are the 'Rules', and the staff didn't like them either. Had every intention of returning the chair after use, anyway said member of staff then chose to blank me at the bar. I eventually transferred my drink to a plastic cup and left, was there early to meet friends for a weekend in padstow where we'd normally spend a fair few quid but the shipwrights won't be getting any more of my money, not that they need it but don't expect any kind of friendly welcome or anything you'd call hospitality, plenty of other options in town, avoid avoid avoid!

Had a dressed crab, it was delicious, although only two pieces of bread, with a meal which cost £24, was a bit mean.

We pre-booked dinner as Shipwrights is dog friendly and Padstow was very busy. Booking online was easy and a reminder was sent to us. Food was really good and shipwrights is very dog friendly. Definitely worth a visit if in Padstow

Visited this pub during a recent visit to Padstow. We sat in the restaurant upstairs overlooking the harbour and ordered food. Drinks and food were reasonably priced and arrived quickly.

Second time I’ve been back here for fish and chips and they didn't disappoint. Great service and helpful staff too even on a busy day. Really impressed with St Austell pubs, they are getting it right across the multiple pubs I’ve been too. Great value and service.

We had dinner at The Shipwrights while in Padstow with some friends and our dog. The pub is right on the harbour so in a fantastic location. The staff were very friendly and helpful! We ate upstairs in the restaurant. The food was really good, tasty and good value!

Best Caesar salad I have ever had. My husband's Fish and chips were done to perfection.

Holiday makers prices if you want the smallest bowl of fries and sticky tables for over 4 quid that quite frankly is embarrassing to serve go here!

Booked a table which we were taken to, waitress came over and asked if we wanted to move tables which we did, we then waited 10-15 minutes before drink order was taken and at same time was asked what we wanted to eat, only trouble was never had a menu to see what to order, drink then took another 10 minutes to turn up. Food was lovely when it turned up but service was poor, toilets had no toilet rolls and were dirty inside, nice food unpleasant experience.

Avoid, bad service, very average cuisine, unmotivated staff... Nothing is right here!

great local pub! value was good! £20 for 5 drinks (3 alcoholic and 2 soft) which i thought was reasonable compared to other prices in the area! would definitely recommend! great atmosphere and loads of helpful staff!

This was our third visit during our week away which says it all really. Sadly, it will be our last this year but we hope to be back. The food is great, our dogs were made so welcome and the staff are lovely. Special thanks go to Evie who is honestly the nicest person we have ever had the pleasure to be served by. Every pub needs an Evie. Thanks all. We hope to see you again one day x

I am gluten free I had battered hake and chips the best gluten free batter I have ever had amazing service reasonably priced beautiful view highly recommend 😁

We took our two retrievers here on Monday and now one of them keeps trying to pull us back in! Luckily for him, we loved it to! We'd already booked it twice while on holiday but we've added a third night as the food was excellent and the staff were lovely.

Stayed just outside Padstow this weekend just gone by and already knew I was going to go there for a roast and a pint. Roast ordered, and once it came out it was just as I'd hoped, it tasted bloody lovely. There's nothing worse than a bad/disappointing pub roast, but this was pretty close to perfect. What would have made it perfect (for me) would have been slightly crispier roasties, and please please please roast the carrots. I say that, because I will be back for one another day, which I think is the measure of any meal and restaurant/bar right? I will 100% be back, hopeful of a nice helping of roast carrots to match the perfectly roasted parsnips etc, then we're talking 5 star for the food ;) 5 star from me overall though because with the bar, the setting, the pint etc, I left happy.

Our goto place for lunch in Padstow. Still retains a pub vibe whilst providing great quality food. Like all of Padstow it can get busy so food isn't the quickest to arrive. But the beer is very well kept so a pleasant pace to while away the time.

Had a lunch booked …ordered a starter to come with the mains but it arrived too early but quickly rectified by Jordan …didn’t have one of the dessert on the menu thanks to Jordan he sorted out a lovely strawberry dessert for my 84 year old mum who was very happy ! Lovely staff very obliging …food tasty and hot
