Dined here this evening (19 Aug) for the third time in as many months. It never fails to impress. Delicious food, beautifully presented, served by a happy and efficient team. I had the whitebait - great quality as opposed to quantity which tends to be the norm. My main was the linguine, which is stuffed full of delicious seafood. A very generous helping, but managed to finish it as it was SO good. I like to think I’m a chocolate mousse connoisseur, and this one was to die for! There are several restaurants nearby, badged under well known names, but I have to say the Constantine leaves them behind in terms of taste and value. The revamp of the restaurant has been a great success, improving the ambience, and providing a really enjoyable experience. Will be back soon.

Much improved since our last visit in 2019. Very good food and service. Glad I broke my don't order pizza unless in an Italian restaurant rule, as my pizza was excellent - just wish they did a seafood one. Covid-wise: excellent with tables well spaced and staff wearing facemasks.

This is an absolutely stunning place to dine, with breathtaking views across the headland to the sea. It’s wonderful to watch the sunset whilst enjoying a delicious meal and the food is of a high standard, which would be expected given this is relatively pricey. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Disappointing however, is the complete lack of vegan options. There is absolutely nothing on the menu for those who have chosen to eat a plant based diet. Vegetarian options are limited too consisting of just a single starter and mains option, both heavily laden with cheese. I did enquire about whether vegan options could be catered for but was told a polite ‘no’. It surprises me that in an era when the fastest growing food preference is plant based and an increasing number of the population are becoming vegan that this hasn’t been embraced. Sadly, this otherwise delightful restaurant risks losing a significant amount of trade unless it addresses this.

So we never got to dine there. We saw this place in September 2020 - and planned to return. Planned our itinerary well in advance and booked this restaurant for Sunday 13th June approximately 3 months ago. Just had an email from the restaurant cancelling our booking as they - no alternative date offered:- “I am emailing regarding your Restaurant booking with us on Sunday 13th June. Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances we are unable to offer evening service on this day. We apologise and hope to see you at Trevose some other time. Kind regards, Joe” “Some other time!” ? Don’t think so Joe! 😡 When I asked for an alternative date, was rudely directed to the online booking system - every evening of our stay now fully booked! Disgusted that we have been cast aside because they have a better offer - “European Legends”??? Doubt we will get a booking anywhere else decent now at such short notice. Meant to be a special meal after all this COVID stuff. Nice reward for my wife who has worked her socks off in the NHS. Please don’t give me the story about being short-staff - we have had our personal challenges too! Disappointed is an under-statement! 🤬

Played golf here with my 19 year old son, great venue 3 different courses and fantastic views out to sea. We had lunch here between our 2 nine hole rounds. £10.00 each for a day pass was great value I went for homemade carrot soup extremely tasty, with some chips as a filler, son went for scampi and chips, an excellent sized portion and wolfed down, we had a beer and a coke and the whole lot was aRound £30. Possibly a bit overpriced but worth it for the views. Staff were really friendly and the views are fantastic it is such a modern venue came back in for a 19th hole and joined by the ladies who had been in Newquay for the day, very enjoyable, so much so we are thinking of staying next time.

As we were staying in Constantine Bay, it seemed a good idea to try the golf club restaurant and its excellent sea view. Price-wise, no worse than many other restaurants in the area. A fairly standard menu. Service a little confused, and table not clean. Prawn and crab coctail starter excellent. Fish (sole) excellent. Belly pork nice and hot, though sitting on not so hot vedge. So not perfect, but we'd not rule out going again.

Nice locational setting to watch the sunset over the sea but unfortunately other factors let it down. The food is nice but very average and not particularly something to go home raving about. It’s all pretty standard and could be cooked at home. This is a shame considering the high price that is charged. The dishes don’t feel cooked fresh, rather made in the day in the ceramic dishes and reheated for dinner service. The service is very friendly but not exactly attentive. Vegetarian options are limited and the goats cheese tart that I ordered off the specials had very underdone puff pastry with large rubbery bits of cheese inside. The ‘warm lemon posset’ also turned out to just be a lemon tart. The restaurant attracts large groups after golf, but considering the price and food one might be better off just using the bar facilities. Would if going, go for lunch not dinner. It’s a shame as it’s evident they have tried with this restaurant but certain factors let it down.

This was probably one of the worst meals I have had in a long time which was most disappointing. Surely a fresh Sunday roast is not too difficult to provide instead of a very tired, tepid, colourless excuse for a meal. The restaurant was not at all busy- I wonder why? Such a wonderful location and in an area that is now very well known for the variety of culinary venues, most of which are a great experience to eat at, however the restaurant here at the golf club is a sad excuse for an eating establishment. What on earth is the problem?Several of those in our party will not be beating a path to this restaurant for quite a long time. A great shame.

We've eaten here many times over the years and this is the least enjoyable meal we've had. The welcome was cool if not non existent. We were given a lovely table by the window but the girls serving seemed to forget about us as soon as we sat down. We asked for several bottles of wine during the meal and each time it took too long to arrive. The food was warm not hot when it arrived and the chips must have been sitting around for ages as they were awful. I asked for broccoli spears with almonds and got a bowel of very overcooked broccoli heads with no almonds and no explanation. The other members of the group had very average meals. And not once did anyone come over to ask if everything was alright, the girls were untrained, uninterested and unhelpful. At a place like this you'd expect much better food and much better service.

We have eaten at Constantine Restaurant four or five times over the summer, as it's a short walk from where we stay and has gorgeous views over Constantine Bay. It's always been ok, nothing special but convenient. This last time was mid September and we arrived just before 6pm without a reservation but were fitted in if we gave the table back by 7.30pm - no problem. We were handed some menus and had a drink in the bar first. When we got up to take our table, there was nobody around, so we hung out for a bit. Finally a young lady turned up and said she wasn't sure which table we were at, but did we want to place our order right now. Standing up, at reception? That's a novel procedure. We said we'd rather take a seat first - we knew which table as her colleague had told us - and took a seat in the empty restaurant (the bar staff said they were fully booked but maybe they meant later. Ok, we are early birds!). Starters were Superfood Salad and Chicken Caesar salad. The superfood salad consisted mainly of a blob of cold, overcooked quinoa (and dried bacon on top. Not very superfoody?). We would suggest, in the nicest possible way, that the chef pays a couple of visits to London to see how superfood salads are prepared - ok, we're spoilt, but cooking quinoa is not difficult. The caesar salad contained a couple of unfortunate looking, undercooked pieces of chicken which I left to one side. Overall, it was ok, nothing special. Next up was lamb with vegetables and battered tiger prawns with fries, which arrived as soon as the starter plates had been cleared. Come on guys - it was only 6.40 at this point. Either accept walk-ins graciously or not at all. Again, it was all just ..... ok. In the midst of eating, the head waiter (I assume he was the head waiter by the level of cocky-ness) had a loud pitch phone conversation at reception. The whole experience was pretty disappointing. Aside from the food, the club house is looking tired and needs a refurb (especially the toilets). The bar staff are only interested in the golf punters (you don't exactly receive a warm welcome as an 'outsider'). You can't even use the wifi because 'all the campers come in and download their movies'. Beautiful setting, poor everything else. This visit will be our last - until such time that there is a management change, or change in chef - or both.

We had just been for a long walk along the coast and were looking for a place to grab a Sunday roast. Having previously stayed at trevose golf course I knew we were in for a great view whilst we ate but the food, service and value for money was absolutely superb. We had a 6mth old with us and had just been walking for a few hours so weren't in 'normal golf club attire' but we were made more than welcome and the service team were so attentive and friendly it was such a pleasant change compared to other more pricey and pretentious restaurants in the area!! A 3 course Sunday roast came in at £16 and the roast was just amazing, I initially was disappointed when roast beef (favourite) wasn't on the menu but the pork lion was out of the this world... The starters and desserts matched the quality also. Seriously.... Forget the Rick Stein and Paul ainsworth offerings down the road and get up to trevose golf course (on a Sunday anyway).. The whole team for the chefs to the waiters deserve some credit for what the offer and the value for money of what o they produce.

As reviews before paint the glory of the views, expected by us, we were pleased at quality of the meal.that said, going by past reviews and studying menu from outside it's very evident the menu remains a constant fixture like the views.internal decor plain and clinical, but windows view makes up for that.A pleasing side aspect was the staff, all knowledgeable in food to wine choice, cheerfully busy and responsive, not a foreign accent to be heard.Pricing to meal quality very reasonable, 3 course for 2, aperitif bottle of wine 100. Heartily recommend you give it a go, next year we will at least once. Let's hope menu does change (can't get much better though).

This was our first visit to Constantines having planned to go several time since it's opening. We have a holiday home nearby and are used to the wide range of excellent restaurants in the area.Let me start by saying the views are spectacular and worth the visit alone. The restaurant decor is a little bland and indeed the more casual restaurant (Colts) has a little more warmth. Clearly trying to be modern but just not pulled it off.We were given the Constantine menu which is fairly short and were confused by hearing other dishes being offered around us. Turns out we had only been given one of the two menus available.I had Tempura followed by Goan Fish curry. Tempura was tasty but on the small side. Curry was good. My wife had mussels followed by fish and chips which looked good but apparently the mushy peas were awful.Service was a little mixed.A bit disappointed overall. Will try the more casual option next time.

Our table had a superb view over the golf course and the service was first class. We both had the roast chicken main course and it was outstandingly good. Cauliflower cheese, superb roast potatoes, beautifully cooked carrots and green vegetables, yorkshire pudding and bread sauce and delicous gravy. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I took a group to Julian Lloyd's new venture recently on the recommendation from a friend who had eaten in Stein's Australian outlet that Julian helped set up and it was every bit as good as I had been told...infact it was better! The menu had something for everyone - from calves brains and ray wing for those feeling a little more adventurous, to the likes of pork belly terrine, Dover Sole and a delicious chicken dish for those less brave (like me!). Choice was extensive but with the emphasis on seafood...and every dish was made with equal imagination, attention to detail ...not to mention creativity and thought behind the presentation. With so many great places to eat in the area my guess is that Constantine will be spreading a mixture of fear and joy...fear to the other restauranteurs and joy to all gastronomic connoisseurs! My other half chooses scallops at every opportunity and the ones here - baked with bacon and Parmesan and beautifully presented - were rated as out of this world (which is a rare accolade as they're usually a big disappointment!). My confit belly pork on black pudding mousse was also excellent. There was a limited choice of mains - often a good sign - and my wife would have chosen lemon sole were it not for the fact that it didn't come with any vegetables. Instead she joined me with my customary choice (whenever available) of confit duck, served here on red cabbage with mashed potato and gravy. Well, that humble description doesn't do it justice, as all three elements were fantastic.I ordered a side of broccoli spears - the only additional veg on the menu - which in my view was as poor as the rest of the meal was good. It was seemingly cooked in olive oil - which if so was taking the confit idea too far - but it ill-behoved me to complain as the menu had said "(with olive oil)" and I hadn't queried the point when ordering. Sadly I can't comment on the desserts as nothing took our fancy on the similarly restricted menu.Apart from the broccoli the food was as good as it gets without becoming 'flashy', and we'd thoroughly recommend this restaurant.NB. You'll need a car...

Fancied a meal out of Padstow itself, so came here following a good couple of reviews and chef's reputation. We were warmly greeted but then left sat for ages waiting for someone to take our drinks order. Eventually someone arrived to take our food order, not realising we had no drinks, to his credit he sorted out both. I had smoked duck starter, Asian flavours followed by Goan fish curry. Both were well cooked and presented, a bit baffled though that the curry came with mango chutney and raita but no popadoms or naan to dip in them. Luckily I'd saved some bread. On that point, the bread that came was white, I asked if brown was available and was told it wasn't, odd as I could see brown coming out with salmon starters. The chocolate fondant pudding was divine and the Sauvignon Blanc was good and reasonably priced. My partner's dishes of scallops, steak and lemon posset were also well received. Throughout the evening, service was haphazard to say the least. Rob, was the only one who seemed to genuinely care. The other staff just seemed to disappear and other tables had food arriving for individuals at the table at all different times, with drink orders being forgotten. In short the food was very good, but room for improvement with little things (e.g. Bread choice, popadoms/naan with curry), vast improvement needed on the service. No one seemed to be in charge and tables weren't individually allocated. A bit of a shambles. A shame really as we expected better

Visited the new Julian Lloyd restaurant last night and if that wasn't worth the trip down from London alone I don't know what was.Amazing.Before my 1st course arrived there was a little amuse-bouche of half shelled mussels with pesto and tomato. Yum.Being by the coast it would be a crime not to have fish and the Langoustine Ravioli didn't disappoint. Lovely thin pasta with a soft creamy centre. Lovely big pieces of langoustine too.The main course was Goan Fish Curry with beautiful pieces of gurnard more than standing up to the spicy flavours. Perfectly cooked fluffy rice, cucumber raita and mango chutney. Wowser. I could have eaten it twice. It's a must try!Finishing off was a decadent chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream. Watching the perfectly cooked fondant release its oozing soft centre was a joy. Well balanced against the saltiness of the ice cream this was a plate licking finish to a fantastic meal. All washed down with a chilled Gewürztraminer, this was a joy from start to finish.A huge recommendation. The food is delicious and both the Goan Fish Curry and the Sea Bass mains were as good as anything we have enjoyed at Steins, Outlaws or No6. Service was warm and enthusiastic and there is a very reasonably priced wine list. In summer the view over Constantine Bay will combine to make this an unforgettable dining experience.
