Taylor at Reggie’s was very helpful, as I am unable to eat chillies. She suggested dosa Cheese and onion dosa. We also ordered onion bhaji. They were fantastic - in fact the best I have had in the UK. We also took two portions to take away. The other dish, green chicken curry with rice was also very tasty. I recommend Reggie’s. Eaten too quickly to take photos!!! ☺️

We got a takeaway. The food was delicious and authentic. We ordered 2 x Karahi Lamb, 1 x Goan Fish, 3 x Naans, 2 x Bahjis and 2 x Pappadoms. Although this cost £71, it was not enough food for 3-4 people. They were very stingy with the amount of fish in the Goan Fish curry, I probably got 3-4 very small chunks of fish which was insane for a £16 dish. The lamb curries were absolutely delicious, but again several very small cubes of lamb were served which just didn’t suffice - we were all still hungry! Please increase your portion sizes, including rice with the curry didn’t make much sense, I’d rather pay more for bigger portions and a separate rice as a side dish. Hence the 3 * review. Hope they improve their portion sizes as Padstow is really lacking a good Indian restaurant.

Visited this evening. We've walked past numerous times over the years but didn't realise its dog friendly. Welcoming, friendly & comfortable. The food is outstanding - everything was so tasty. We had poppadums, pani puri & onion bhaji followed by chicken tikka masala & the smoky chicken curry plus naan bread. Everything was cooked to perfection, so tasty, the chicken fell apart, so delicious. Really wish we lived local - we would eat here every week. A real gem.

Myself and my wife had a delicious meal, the mains were very tasty, the rice flavoured perfectly and the pupadoms and naan were fabulous. My wife had the afghani chicken and said it was one of the best Indian takeaway meals she’s ever had! I had the gobi chana, which I very much enjoyed, although I would say that as a vegan, another more interesting option would be great as it’s quite safe as meals go. There are some very different sounding meat based meals, I would appreciate something equally different and interesting! Still a fantastic meal regardless, thank you all so much!

Visited two years ago when it was called the Mussel Box, then the food was 5 star and the service 3. Now the reverse, good service and OK food. Fish goujions overcooked and dry. Crab tacos not bad. They offer a variety of curries and other dishes. Seems popular so maybe not to our taste. Not sure about the 80s anthems, not quite in keeping hence the 3 star rating.

Chose the tapas selection - everyone in the party was happy with their choices, especially the crab tacos...Could have had a few more chips for £4 though. The takeaway menu is very limited and extremely overpriced for what it is, both in quality and how generic the menu items are. You cant seperately choose a sauce, meat etc like at a proper curry house. They come with hard rice that is the same as you'd get in a supermarket curry box. There's just one generic naan bread, no option for garlic/pershwari/plain etc. The portions are quite small, my chicken curry had 6 chicken pieces in total but cost £15. In short, the offer is a generic catering meal sold at a price above what most restaurants would charge. I cant comment on the dining-in experience but there are way better places to go for a good takeaway

Tourist trap!! Everything we got tasted like school cafeteria food; I could've got a better takeaway from Tescos. Would give 0 stars if I could. The takeaway Chicken Tikka we got was almost definitely microwaved, and wasn't really a Tikka, but more of a generic supermarket curry (and orange, not red like a Tikka should be, the rice was also hard like it was microwaved), and looked nothing like the photos. The fish curry was also absolutely covered in oil. The naans claimed to be "clay-fired" i.e. tandoori naans, but were clearly not: they were soggy, not crispy anywhere. We payed £57 for 2 tikkas, the fish curry, and 2 naans - an absolute waste.

All in all a great place and experience but a bit of a shame that the crab salad was spoilt by not being able to taste the crab due to the amount of coriander in the dressing. I had the Ox curry at £18 as it sounded interesting. The sauce was very tasty and had some heat in it. The Ox came as two lumps of meat which appeared tender. One lacked flavour and was bland to taste and the other was inedible as it was full of fat. I sent it back and was offered some cuts of lamb instead whuch I did not want. When it came to the bill I was charged the full price for the meal which I questioned. The owner would only take off £3.50 for the poppadoms which was insulting. I will not be going there again which is sad as other people were really enjoying their food. All it takes is a bit of customer appreciation and at least offer a free drink and halve the price of the dish I had but he refused.

Like some other reviews on here seemingly, what looked and sounded like a menu and concept full of variety ended up being underwhelming sadly The staff were friendly but looked stretched and it all felt a bit chaotic at times - very often 10 covers in the restaurant itself were left with not one member of staff present. Some dishes were very nice e.g. the pork belly but the dosa was overcooked bordering on the chewy and the Nan was crispier than the popadoms. I agree that some of the meals lacked taste for sure i.e the masala which was supermarket in quality at best. The worst though was the glass bought alongside my canned drink which smelt inside that it has just been washed up and sent back out again. Therefore all a bit haphazard and I wouldn’t recommend Reggie’s I’m afraid

This used to be the Mussel Box, so please ignore reviews to do with what it was. Reggie's has only been open 1 Month from this review (April 2024). The owner has now changed it to Reggie's (Indian Street Food), and what a positive change for a place in Cornwall that already has far too many grills and fish restaurants! This Indian Food is absolutely top notch, and really really affordable too, and this is coming from someone from the Midlands where good authentic Indian Food is plenty available. The owner imports most of his food ingredients from family and friends in Mumbai, so the name of the restaurant is not just for show. I'm a little stunned with some negative reviews, but I guess for some people if Indian food isn't a fireball then they just think it's a microwave meal. Such a shame for them, as Indian food is much more delicate and delicious than that, and this place definitely hits those notes. The food has proper depth in taste from delicate spices, and you can get all the notes of texture too. It's not like so many Indian Restaurants which are just a ton of Sugar, Butter and Salt. The meats particularly are well prepared too. Great views of the Harbour, and friendly staff. The only thing that took some getting used to was ordering via the Online Menu from the QR Code within the menu, so person-less ordering and payment. The service of food is dead fast though! Let's hope they start delivery for their take-away service! As it's easily the best tasting Indian food in North Mid Cornwall! Lamb Karahi, Afghan Chicken both with Rice, Clay Oven Naan, Bombay Potato and x2 Half Pint of Lager for £46. Well done to the Reggie's team for spicing up Cornwall!

Reggie’s Mumbai Street Food in Padstow promised an authentic street food experience but unfortunately fell short of expectations. The ambience was quite promising, giving the impression that one might be about to indulge in a culinary adventure. However, the reality of the food served was far from the bustling streets of Mumbai. The menu seemed diverse at first glance, with a variety of dishes that you’d expect to find in a vibrant Indian street food setting. But the dishes themselves were underwhelming. The flavors lacked the depth and punch typically associated with Indian cuisine. Instead of vibrant, freshly-prepared plates of food, the offerings more closely resembled the kind of ready meals one might hurriedly pick up from a supermarket. For instance, one of the dishes was inexplicably served with a burger bun – a confusing choice that did not complement the meal in any way. The naan bread, while adequate, were nothing to write home about. Popadoms were slightly greasy and disappointingly thin, leading to them tearing too easily when picked up. This did nothing to enhance the overall dining experience, which already felt subpar. As for the service, the staff were visibly hard-working and did their best under the circumstances. However, they seemed overwhelmed despite the restaurant being only half full. This might point to either an understaffing issue or perhaps a mismanagement of resources, but either way, it impacted the dining experience negatively. The pricing at Reggie’s also did not match the quality of the meal provided. A modest meal for two, including a bottle of wine, came to nearly £80. While this price point isn’t unusual for a high-quality dining experience, it felt steep given the average quality of the food. In a town like Padstow, which boasts numerous dining options, Reggie’s Mumbai Street Food unfortunately does not stand out. The value just isn’t there. For those craving a curry or any type of Indian cuisine in Padstow, my recommendation would be to explore other local options or even visit a supermarket for a ready meal, which may paradoxically offer a more authentic taste and better value. It’s a disappointing conclusion, especially when one had hoped to enjoy a slice of Mumbai’s vibrant street food scene in the heart of Cornwall. My advice would be to seek out other establishments in the area where the food might live up to the expectations set by the prices and menu descriptions.

I have been here many times over the years but since it has been the “mussel box” I fear it’s a bit hit and miss. The food is “good” and service “good” but it’s not much more than that. I’ve experienced that if you come at off peak times, as we have in October this time, the menu options are a bit lacklustre and the outside glass dining space was freezing. My partner had a whole hake which was very skinny, and hard to find much to actually eat on the plate. The starters however were gorgeous! I don’t doubt this place has good food and service, i just don’t think it’s one I will return to as there are definitely better option in Padstow .

We returned to the Musselbox this week full of excitement after a fantastic roast last October. We we sadly disappointed with mussels that promised so much (juicy and succulent) but which delivered little flavour from the marinere sauce. The food looked great but was lacking in the flavour sensation we experienced previously. The speed of service was fast but this in self meant out main courses arrived when we’d just finished our starters, plates hadn’t been cleared and we were in for less than 52 minutes before we’d had 2 courses and decided to go elsewhere for dessert

If I could judge this restaurant based on location, service and starters alone it would have a six out of five. We dined as a party of three on a lovely summer evening in the conservatory area, with views of the harbour and a warm welcome for our two dogs. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was good. A great start to a meal all round. We then ordered a portion of mussels as a starter, which were gorgeous and plentiful and served with delicious bread for dipping. We also had a mixed seafood starter with garlic and chilli and that too was also delish. So far so great! Everything was going wonderfully until we had our main courses... My sister and I ordered the Reggies fish curry and the spiced aubergine curry mains. My partner ordered a pork belly main. The mains did not come with rice/chips etc, these were additionally priced. My partner really enjoyed the pork belly main but thought this should automatically come with a side of potatoes of his choice as it was essentially a piece of meat on the plate. The fish curry and the spiced aubergine mains were in effect the same meal in fish and vegetarian versions. Sadly, they were not enjoyable for us at all. The curry 'sauce' was mostly hot oil with dried curry powders which had turned bitter, and not a true curry sauce at all. There was no depth or complexity of flavour you'd imagine from a home made curry sauce which had been lovingly prepared over many hours, no feeling of eating anything other than curry powdered oil. There was so much clear oil on the plate that the "curry" within it floated in little slivers of fluffy brown within the oil. Neither of us could finish our meals and I was very sorry I had tipped my side of rice into the plate where the oil took hold of it completely. I don't know whether this dish is always prepared this way or whether there was an off day in the kitchen... I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars as there were many positives to the dining experience but two of the mains were poor. We would return, but I would definitely not order this main meal again.

We ate here twice on our recent visit to Padstow. Dinner was lovely, although the mussels weren’t as great as I would expect given the name. The service was a bit slow and lacklustre at times. We then returned for breakfast on a wet morning and it was absolute carnage - it was clearly understaffed, which meant service was slow and coffees were rubbish. Our main issue however was that kids completely took over the place - they were stood on the furniture in their wet shoes, running up and down the narrow walkway and parents spread out their wet coats and belongings as though they own the place which made it very unpleasant for other diners - we finished our food and left asap. I understand the staff were young and may not have wanted to say anything to the other diners, but it was really unpleasant for everyone else and meant I wouldn’t go back there for fear of it happening again.

As a regular visitor to Padstow the Mussel Box is part of our arrival routine. Leave home early [05.15] and then head for The Mussel Box on arrival. Fab, full Cornish breakfast is my go to and they also have great coffee. Always a great start to our Cornish break, whether short or long, with quick and efficient service.

Friendly staff Order the mussels, but not the best considering the name of the restaurant.they where Very gritty. As for the crab we ordered, it was very oily. And they had no oysters at the time which was a slight disappointment

Although tasty Sunday roast was cold! Meat and yorkshire brought out first then waited 5 mins for veg! Extra gravy was also cold and served in a ramekin so could not pour it properly. Pigs in blankets were undercooked and unappatising. Disappointing meal as have previously had good experiences here.

Disappointing flavours at a very high price point. Lovely service and ambient glass fronting by the harbour.

Had 2 course Sunday lunch here for £25. Roast beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and lots of vegetables. Only slight criticism was the beef not too hot, but everything else was and very nice. Service very good too.

Great staff pleasant atmosphere but small portion starters (and desserts) especially the whitebait.. where 12 for £12+ seems steep

This is an odd restaurant. If they get it right it great, if not it's average. You order prawns in shells but don't get finger dips or a side plate for the shells but the pork belly is great. Service is haphazard sometimes v quick othertimes v slow. Sunday roasts are iffy, go later rather than earlier. Its a matter of chance but don't dismiss it.

Disgraceful over priced food. Watery curry and overcooked noodles. Beef tasteless. All of itvwas bland - Would certainly not return for takeaway and would not recommend. Waste of hard earned money.

Spent a couple of nights in two of the cosy well appointed rooms Excellent food/service/welcome. The log fire in the lounge is very cosy and inviting, especially as it snowed whilst we were there. Good selection of wines and beers. Will definitely be revisiting. Thank you.
