The service was great, as was the atmosphere. Sadly it was the food that was not up to the normal standard!

Great views in the early evening. Truly amazing location. The restaurant is a bit too 'canteen' for my tastes, but the food is good. The staff more than make up for any shortfalls in design. Very friendly and hospitable.

Update 26 9 23. Five stars returned, apparently Guinness will be returning! UPDATE 15 3 24. I have had to remark the Atlantic down to one star as they have cancelled Guinness and are offering some horrific dark brew that was fermented in a local bath tub. This is not on! I am on holiday near by and am horrified to lose the Guinness. Mr Manager if you read this PLEASE reinstate Guinness and I will restore the 5* rating. The Atlantic is a prime location overlooking Polzeath beach and has been refitted to a high level. It offers a wide choice of beers and a food pub menu. The young staff are very jolly. An ideal spot for a drink and a light meal.

Been going here for years, great food and drink, lovely staff, bit pricey but quality food and drink!

Food is delicious, in this case you get what you pay for. I had the rib eye steak, my husband had the cod, excellent. We both had sardines as starters.

Absolutely fabulous we had a wonderful time this evening the food was so tasty. Service was very friendly- I had the sardines to start which were delicious followed by the pork ragu - amazing! The table next to us had the biggest pizza I’ve ever seen! Fabulous!!! Honestly we’ve had such a lovely evening would highly recommend giving you a very firm 10/10 and will definitely return in the future! Sept 2024

We regularly eat at the Atlantic. Each time we've had different staff and they have all been so friendly and the service is quick. The best pizza too and excellent value

Remember this back in the day as the doom bar for a drink after the beach. Visited during our recent stay in Cornwall. Met up with family and had pizza! Pizza was delicious and great view from the terrace watching the sun set.

Service was extremely slow. Ww wanted a takeaway meal and waited a long time to be served, then told it would be 20 minutes. Unfortunately it was 50 minutes before the food arrived. Portion sizes were generous and the food was tasty, The low rating is based on the waiting time. Had the kitchen staff been more honest about the wait time, we might have gone elsewhere. Serving staff were doing their best, but were a bit chaotic.

Good range of beers. Fantastic views. Can be very busy at peek times.

If you like no calamari and you are also a massive fatty this place is good because you can get a honey pizza for 6 people. Lots of kids and the door blew open someyimes so my napkin blew away

We had breakfasts during our stay, and also had the Atlantic Fry Up (not pictured) one morning, to fuel us up for a day of walking the coastal paths. All the food was great, and the staff were really friendly and laidback. Thank you!

A great place with a fantastic view. The pizzas are great and the other dishes are excellent. I will judge a place entirely on the quality of its arancini. Atlantic's is great.

We had a lovely experience at The Atlantic. The huge pepperoni pizza was a massive (delicious!) hit with my kids and the view overlooking the bay as the sun was going down was wonderful. We had booked a table inside but the staff were very accommodating in finding us a table outside when one became available, seating us in the lobby while we waited. The staff were also very attentive. We will be back.

Had booked table - but waited 35 minutes to be seated. Were told we were waiting for a table by the window but after 35 minutes we were sat a a table at the back that had been empty all the time we were there. Took an age to then be served, and having been served - I had to go to the bar to chase drinks… starter had arrived long before our drinks did… similar lack of service for the rest of the meal. Food was quite nice, but not able to enjoy it because there was too much chaos going on around us. Have cancelled booking for next week.

Fantastic evening at the Atlantic - drinks on the terrace followed by dinner for 14 of us. Food was excellent (particularly the pizzas) and service too. We will definitely be back.

The hotel is in a superb location. The sea view outside over the bar over the beach is spectacular. We were recommended by someone who works in a Polzeath bar who said their pizzas were the best they'd ever had. A bold endorsement indeed! We arrived at 4.20pm unsure of when food was being served and were informed that it was not until 5pm. The Atlantic website had everything apart from the times that food is served. A basic website error! Our friends wanted to leave but I persuaded them to stay as the pizzas looked so good (I'm a pizza snob) Ollie the barman was superb. He even supplied me with a takeaway box to use as a hat for my head as it was burning in the sun! Ollie said that the pizzas would be served quickly which persuaded our impatient friends to stay and eat. We ordered three pizza at 5pm which were served within 15 minutes. I suffer from a condition called misophonia - which is basically a form of claustrophobia when you are next to people who are 'loud'. Ollie understood this and so when I asked if we could move to a quiet place he did so without hesitation and put us in the lounge area which was perfect. As well as Ollie, all staff at the Atlantic were excellent. Sadly the food was not quite up to the standard of the staff. The pizza was 'OK', but lacking in cheese and base overcooked. However, the skin on fry chips were excellent. Overall, the Atlantic is well worth a visit. Thank you Ollie and staff for a very enjoyable visit 👍

Takes forever to order something here.

We waited over 10 years for the re-opening of The Atlantic. Booked a table for dinner, had a couple of drinks at the bar, went to our table only to be told food would be 1 to 1.5 hours. Come on! You know how many tables you have. Staff up accordingly. We voted with our feet and got takeaway in town.

Hotel at fab location with great terrace for sunny, sea views. Didn't eat, but lots of happy folk tucking into meals

Great beach bar with a bit of a scene. Dog friendly, but the beach isn’t before 6pm, after Easter to end August. The restaurant was packed with dog owners and at the magic hour, it cleared 😂. I ate the Gorgonzola & mushroom pizza with a side of fries and a chicory salad: DELICIOUS. The service is professional and friendly. The cheapest red wine on the list is delicious too.

Good location. Basic pizza and pasta menu. Our food was pretty quick (quicker than the drinks....).

This is a great modern restaurant and bar - really lovely service, great food, varied menu, wonderful location and sea views, easy parking, friendly relaxed atmosphere, families welcome, tables inside and outside; one of the very best in Cornwall.

Pizza tasted like rubber no from me

Our second visit here and the food was just as good as last year. The portion sizes are very generous. My wife had a prawn Italian pasta dish which was excellent and plentiful. I had a beef ragu style pasta dish and again was excellent and plentiful. We shared a starter and desert and with a bottle of wine and a brandy aperitif the bill was around £90. My wife tipped £10 which for me was too generous as the table service was a bit slow and she was preoccupied with one specific table rather than be attentive to everyone.

What an incredible addition to Polzeath. This restaurant has the most stunning views with the most delicious food to match (the pizzas are out of this world) Highly recommend a visit here next time you are in Polzeath!

I’m giving 5 stars because I’ve been here a few time and I really like it - this time the food was very slow coming out and delivery was quite disjointed. Had to ask for cutlery a few times and the server - although she was really lovely - looked very confused when we asked about gluten free options, which made to ordering and food delivery a bit chaotic. (However this did give me time for another pint so not all bad!) This is intended as feedback and not a complaint at all & we’ll definitely be back next year if not before; with a bit more attention to service the Atlantic will nail it :-) See you next time Atlantic folks.

The food and location are all very good but the service we received wasn't. We had booked but when we turned up they didn't have our booking. From then on it was like they didn't want us there and couldn't be bothered. What should of been really good was let down, but yes the food. Is really good

Stunning view by the beach! Relaxing vibe in the cafe. Enjoyed coffee at this place more-so from the rainy weather. (It could have been better seated outside if it was sunny! A reason to return another time) Coffee was of great taste and served really hot which did an extra mile service. Staffs were very polite and happy to assist, amazing service!

What a fantastic place, amazing food, served by people who genuinely want you to have the best time, and with stunning coastal views.

We enjoyed our lunch very much. We had the set menu which I think is excellent value. And I had to add the tiramisu which was divine! The staff were friendly and helpful and our dog was very welcome. We will definitely return again. Bravo!

Lunch at the Atlantic. Had lunch for 11 at the restaurant, we had to book in advance and pay a deposit. The food was good, the harbour beers nice and the desserts great. Service was a bit slow even though we had to pre order our food a few weeks before. Views were great and the staff friendly and helpful.

Away on a work trip so was alone and was made to feel very welcome. Great service particularly from Laura who was really friendly. I had Cornish clam tagliolini which was delicious and then fancied something sweet but not dairy like sorbet. It wasn’t on the menu but I asked and was even offered 2 different flavours - nothing was too much trouble! Thanks I’ll definitely be returning 😃

Dinner menu a little limited but the pasta with beef shin very tasty. Would recommend the porridge with pear and walnuts for breakfast

A splendid dinner with fantastic views even in the rain we started off with the fantastic squid dish followed by the beef pasta, which was incredible. We have dined here before and never disappoints. Can’t wait to come back in June.

Very sorry to write this as this has been one of our favourite dinner destinations when we come to Rock every year. We went for dinner with three adults and our adult daughters, who love their pizzas! The two starters of giant prawns and calamari were excellent. Also worth mentioning that the young girl who served us was super efficient and delightful. So when the pizzas arrived, we were expecting the great pizzas we have been used to. However our pizzas had a triple layer of tomato base and just the tiniest amount of cheese. What a disappointment. We all commented after that we left totally underwhelmed and not somewhere we’d return to! Bizarre really. A pizza is pretty simple to make? But to add a double blow, I wanted to quietly write to The Atlantic and explain our concerns. Not wanting a freebie but thought genuine feedback would be appreciated. That was sent about 8 days ago and have heard nothing. So I’ve resorted to being more vocal on tripadvisor and suggest someone needs to look at their INFO email once in a while and respond.

Lovely place with beautiful view but unfortunately food was poor. My vegetarian pasta dish could have been delicious but was very bland. My husband’s pizza was also lacking flavour probably as it didn’t have enough toppings. Great chips though but £60 was a lot of money for just great chips!

5* for this funky transformation of the old hotel in new polzeath. Contemporary fayre, in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly and attentive front of house team. A new staple in our Cornwall repertoire…

Staff seemed overwhelmed. Lovely views and delicious food. If you’re dining with vegans be ready to wait a while whilst the waiter and chef draw up a menu. Seems like they are underprepared for how many guests they’ll have per night.

We usually love the Atlantic, we have been visiting for the last couple of years and the giant pizza and can of cloudy fizzy apple (sadly now changed to appletize) encourage my children to go in a good hearty walk with this treat at the end 🙌 it’s usually friendly, chilled, clean, good service and a great food. Food is great quality, pizzas always fab and mains superb. However on the latest occasion we stood waiting for more than ten minutes to even be spoken to, we were then met with a curt comment that we had to be out within 1hr 15 mins - fine but fairly rude and we had been waiting and booked a table. My children continuously asked me the time during dinner as they were worried. It was 45 mins from entering to getting a drink. To their credit they did take this off the bill when I went and asked if we could have our drinks. The food was faultless but the service was poor, one excellent girl was left to serve everyone eating. Another lady turned up half way through our service and she was also lovely. Nothing quite made up for the rude arrival. We will try again - the Atlantic was and could be amazing. Fingers crossed it finds it’s special feel again this summer.

Came here after visiting the area for the first time. Lovely restaurant, well spaced and welcoming interior. Lovely food. I had a generous portion of carbonara for lunch, which was great, but I have to say I was jealous of my husband choice of dishes. The pigeon breast was beautiful. We’ll be back in the summer as we explore the further. Notes: dog friendly, space to sit outside and in. Car parking in front and just up the road.

Great place for morning coffee, with or without wet dogs, staff very welcoming and helpful. But for busy lunchtime (delicious pizza!) noise levels uncomfortable for me and my friends

Unfortunately I can't give 5 stars. The only reason was that on this occasion we paid 10£ for a glass of wine and we needed to sit in messy surroundings. Tables outside where dirty, doggy poo bag under one, nobody came to clean old glasses. Disappointing. Nice view,but not worth the money.

Delicious Sunday roasts and fish

A little multi day tour in the old Jensen saw me walking some of the North Cornwall coast and resting my head in this hostelry. First impressions were good. The restaurant faces square out to the Atlantic. One can watch the full force of the ocean battering the headlands and spending itself relentlessly on the beach. Most impressive indeed. The restaurant is rather modern and informal with that slightly loud modern music the youngsters play these days. No Mantovani here I am afraid. I wasn’t quite sure if the music was being played for the staff or the patrons. Most of the staff were lovely. One or two dudes though couldn’t quite be bothered and just wanted to get back out in the surf cheeky blighters. Never mind. Can’t blame them. An interesting menu. Italian based for the most part. I had an interesting beef and horseradish ragu with a ribbon pasta on the first night. Pleasurable but not outstanding. Very warming upon my jowely chops. The ribbon pasta reminded me vaguely of tripe, which is no bad thing. This was followed by a chocolate mouse. The presentation could have been better. I wondered if the poodle at the neighbouring table had produced it. But it tasted good if a not quite dark and bitter enough for my seasoned tastes. The next night I had Cornish clams. As Mrs Haller knows Clams are one of very my favourite things but I was a little disappointed at this. More garlic and a bit more seasoning please. The old sod has a well seasoned pallete. Salty please, clams live in the sea. All however was rescued by the burnt sugar and boozy prune cheesecake that followed. A thing of wonder, I nearly climbed my portly frame upon the table and layed in it. It was utterly delicious. Bliss. Pruned up, all was forgiven. The food was good. The Atlantic has fine dining pretensions. It’s not far off fine dining prices either. Never mind you will have a nice meal. But do try the cheesecake. I would gladly sell the Jensen to eat nothing else for an entire week.

A group of us attended a pasta and pizza making lesson at Atlantic - it was brilliant! Really relaxed but we made some amazing pasta from scratch. Grant and Vicky were really supportive and talked us through each step. This was followed by a short break for drinks and some charcuterie before pizza dough making. We finished the session by cooking our own pizzas to eat.

Great atmosphere is a modern and fresh location. Friendly and welcoming staff and a great menu. I had pork belly which was superb! A great place that caters for couples and families, for a special dinner or walking in off the beach!

Amazing setting for a weekend away. Not just a superb hotel / restaurant but the staff team are brilliant - we did the “pasta and pizza making” experience while we were here with Grant and Victoria which was brilliant! Highly recommend it.

The very best Sunday lunch I have ever had in England. The staff were so pleasant and helpful We met the chef to congratulate him - he was charming telling us that they sourced their ingredients from within five miles. I will always go there! Totally loved everything about it.

Just had the most delicious Sunday lunch at The Atlantic. The food was absolutely phenomenal, and very good value. It’s a perfect venue, and the lovely staff couldn’t have been more charming and helpful. Hats off to the chef. Can absolutely recommend.

Great location, Great Food and Great Welcome. My Wife and I always try and have lunch at least once if we are on holiday in Cornwall, at this lovely location. Very friendly welcome from the staff who always make you feel valued. Very tasty food (we had the pizza, sardines and mushrooms). The location is one of the best in Cornwall. You must try if you can!.

Bit of a curate’s egg, but no reflection on the staff who were welcoming. However the restaurant itself has a refectory/canteen feel, not the sort of place that you would want to linger over a romantic dinner. Definite lack of atmosphere despite the fireplace. Food selections were decent and the location terrific.

Hasn't this changed it's name. To harbour inn. Anyway very nice guys there. Great service and very good drinks. And of course the sea to look at. What more do you want. Worth a visit.

We stayed at the hotel for a night and enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch. The Cornish beef was excellent with lashings of super vegetables included. The staff were incredibly helpful. We’ll come again

We have just returned home from a lovely night away at this beautifully modern hotel. We did Dinner, Bed & Breakfast for the night. The rooms were ultra clean and beds super comfy. The room had all the things you needed, TV, kettle with tea & coffee making facilities. Lovely walk in shower. The staff were all amazing, really friendly and helpful from start to finish. I can’t credit them enough for their exceptional service. Food! Wow! Our dinner was amazing, local produce & not out priced for the quality & quantity. Fresh made pizzas, pasta & local favourites. My husband had the Rib Eye Steak & it was amazing. Great selection of local beers, spirits and lovely cocktails. I recommend the Limoncello Spritz! Good non alcoholic selection too if you are driving but want to feel included. All in all it’s a 10 out 10 from us. We will be back.

We booked for Sunday lunch on 29th Oct. Last time we ate there was night time & dark. This time, albeit awful weather intermittently, what a great view. From the Roast Lunch menu, between us we chose the Roast Beef and a Cod & Mussels in a tomato based sauce. Roast potatoes & vegetables came separately & were fresh & tasty. The Roast beef was pink, as we like it, and just melted in your mouth. It was wonderful. The Panacotta was to die for. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was brilliant. Thank you 😊

Simply the tastiest Sunday Roast beef I have ever had. Most generously portioned with all the delicious trimmings, cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Couldn't recommend it more. Had the most wonderful meal in the beautiful restaurant looking over beautiful Polzeath - what a perfect Sunday!

Came to this restaurant for my birthday and we weren’t disappointed. We sat outside with an amazing view over the beach. The service was great and they really looked after us and nothing was too much trouble. Overall the food was superb with a varied men. I had the most authentic and delicious Italian pizza I’ve ever had outside of Italy . Thoroughly recommend.

Wow Wow Wow. I visited a couple of weeks ago and my gosh! I loved it. The etiquette, knowledge and passion of my bartender Laura made me feel so at ease with the service. My drink was made to perfection, Ian’s it was so sweet with a touch of zest. I have fallen in love with the Atlantic because of her service. It was a truly splendid experience and would highly recommend to anyone who would like sophisticated service x

Went over the weekend with my young family. Friendly atmosphere especially for families. Food was great, nice selection on the menu, the choice of starters we had were all very tasty and presented very well. The pizzas stole the show. They were amazing! Genuine ingredients...

Lovely table. Lovely crisp clean choices of interior decor - looks 5 star. Sunday lunch 3 star. A standout horror was smothering a somewhat dodgy Porchetta (stuffing was sausage meat!) with the dense unimpressive beef gravy. Yuk. Veg sides were okay. Presentation was good. So was the service. Prices reasonable. Beef was bigged up but wasn’t tender, or tasty. But wasn’t terrible. Some veggie arancini were delicious. Nice beer offer. So v mixed.

Complements to the chefs at the Atlantic! We had the Sunday roast dinner, which was absolutely Gorgeous ! All home-made, and the perfect amount. Seasoned beautifully, perfect crispy potatoes… one of Cornwalls hidden gems for sure! I would definitely recommend. The staff were all amazing...

Went for dinner for my sons 24th birthday as he loves pizza and all the food was delicious. For starters we had olives, sourdough, pork bruschetta, sardines and I had the arancini which were amazing, so rich and creamy. For mains we had the fish...

Loved visiting here with my family. It was super busy at the time, but that’s understandable with the great standard of food and atmosphere here. The kids loved the pizzas, will definitely return next time we come to Cornwall!

This place is v good. We’ve been here a few times. However, we visited tonight, nine-ish, and was told they stop serving food at 9p… since when?! So we decided to get drinks…. They was told last call for drinks at 10p. Okay, cool. The after 5 minutes, was told they’re closing. Online says, closes at 11p?!? And when we usually come, kitchen closes at 10p. I couldn’t bother arguing with the staff as I’ve just told off “Beach Box” lousy service.

We have had a couple of great meals here. Pizzas are fantastic - dough so fresh and light! Tapas amazing especially the crab and fish. Great atmosphere and sunset spot! Staff really friendly and helpful.
