I can't reccomend this pub enough. I am a regular drinker. I tried the food last week as a anniversary meal . The staff could not have been more accommodating. Marney, the in shift supervisor made sure our night went without a hitch .Table presentation a 10/10 The customer service from the staff was on point and the food fantastic As mentioned, I am a regular drinker at this pub. There is a great place to sink few. Good quality beer.

Visited with a friend early on a Saturday morning for the first time. Lovely gifts and interesting Christmas bits. Had brunch in the cafe. A short wait but was worth it. Lovely food and coffee at a good price. Staff very helpful and friendly. Will definitely return.

On entering, I asked the waitress if they could give us tea and cream scones. She replied yes enthusiastically, so I asked for tea and scones for two and we found a table. We waited a full 20 minutes and were just about to leave and go elsewhere when the waitress brought a tray with two teacups and saucers and a pot of tea. No milk or sugar. One of the teacups had not been washed and was dirty with the residue of the previous users tea. I pointed this out to the waitress and she replaced it with a clean cup - no apologies were offered. Ten minutes later she returned with a tray containing a plate with two brown savoury cakes. I objected that they were not what we had ordered, which was cream scones. She walked away with no explanation and that was the last we saw of her. We left the tea and savoury cakes untouched and went across the road to the hotel, where we were served real cream scones, jam and tea.

Another visit and yet again nothing to complain about. You have to accept that the restaurant is compact and tables are close together but that does encourage some interaction with other dinners. I note some negative reviews and quite frankly can't believe them. Service is friendly and prompt. Food is hot, tasty and well presented. This visit had the Calzone which was light and filled with spicey meats and sausage. Made the mistake of having a starter so no room for dessert. Will be visiting again.

Stopped for a walk & lunch on way to catch ferry in Portsmouth. Friendly welcome & great service throughout. Sunny day so sat outside next to the pond, which had lots of birds, swans, ducks, red kite, to watch. Food was excellent- highly recommend the smoked trout starter & the pie of the day hit the spot. All good, fresh & reasonably priced. Well done.

My wife and I found ourselves at the Cricketers Inn having tried a couple of closer pubs which had stopped serving food at 3pm (totally understandable but we had a lot on and we're running late and hungry!). We're glad we did. We received a warm welcome and a great lunch. 2 courses and some drinks came to just under £50 which I'm not going complain about. The food came out nice and quick, fresh and roasting hot. It was delicious, hats off to the chef. My wife had a chicken burger and I had a stir fry, both went down well. I'd recommend a visit, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't have the kids with us as the play area looked like it would have kept them occupied! Well done.

I was shocked when I returned home and read such bad reviews about this place. We went for a light lunch and coffee and thought it was great - especially being able to sit in the garden. I had the croque monsieur - it was very tasty and I also ordered an EXTRA HOT Latte. So many places don't make it hot even when you ask but full marks to this place - it was perfect. If you like your coffee extra hot - go here. I have no complaints and I am a very critical person. I would definitely return.

I love this place. Nice people, great range of produce. Dry goods, and fresh produce, an excellent deli. Good atmosphere and charming. Polite too.

Asked for a cup of tea. Presented with a mug of water and a diffuser. No milk - had to ask for it. No sugar - had to ask for it. No spoon - had to ask for it. Disappointing. See no reason to return any time soon.

An almost authentic step-back in time to 1960's station buffets right down to over-priced awful coffee. The only thing missing is the fog of tobacco smoke! If you want to relive your youth, or see what you parents endured, this is a must. The building and decor are almost all vintage or antique, and you can look out on the steam trains.
