Probably my most favourite pub in Hampshire. Another wonderful evening. The steak was cooked to perfection. Delicious. No wonder so many of my friends rate this pub so highly!

Had a fantastic breakfast baguette and a couple of cups of very nice coffee for £11, this is what you call value for money. Cannot grumble at that. Very friendly staff and patrons. Thankyou

Visited with a friend early on a Saturday morning for the first time. Lovely gifts and interesting Christmas bits. Had brunch in the cafe. A short wait but was worth it. Lovely food and coffee at a good price. Staff very helpful and friendly. Will definitely return.

Excellent service, good freshly cooked food and friendly staff. The dining experience was unique, in so far as the food ordered is served on the table to share amongst the customer group. Something similar to ‘tapas’ restaurants where dishes are shared, but in this case larger dishes of typical British food (and other varieties). We had Lamb. Pleasant, clean surroundings. Will visit again.

On entering, I asked the waitress if they could give us tea and cream scones. She replied yes enthusiastically, so I asked for tea and scones for two and we found a table. We waited a full 20 minutes and were just about to leave and go elsewhere when the waitress brought a tray with two teacups and saucers and a pot of tea. No milk or sugar. One of the teacups had not been washed and was dirty with the residue of the previous users tea. I pointed this out to the waitress and she replaced it with a clean cup - no apologies were offered. Ten minutes later she returned with a tray containing a plate with two brown savoury cakes. I objected that they were not what we had ordered, which was cream scones. She walked away with no explanation and that was the last we saw of her. We left the tea and savoury cakes untouched and went across the road to the hotel, where we were served real cream scones, jam and tea.

Stopped for a walk & lunch on way to catch ferry in Portsmouth. Friendly welcome & great service throughout. Sunny day so sat outside next to the pond, which had lots of birds, swans, ducks, red kite, to watch. Food was excellent- highly recommend the smoked trout starter & the pie of the day hit the spot. All good, fresh & reasonably priced. Well done.

Sunday roast with the family. 6 adults, 2 children, 2 vegans. Every one of us left knowing we’d had the best roast we’d had in ages. Possibly the best roast potatoes I’ve had in a pub. Puddings to die for. Great choice of beers and ales. Will be going back very soon.

My wife and I found ourselves at the Cricketers Inn having tried a couple of closer pubs which had stopped serving food at 3pm (totally understandable but we had a lot on and we're running late and hungry!). We're glad we did. We received a warm welcome and a great lunch. 2 courses and some drinks came to just under £50 which I'm not going complain about. The food came out nice and quick, fresh and roasting hot. It was delicious, hats off to the chef. My wife had a chicken burger and I had a stir fry, both went down well. I'd recommend a visit, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't have the kids with us as the play area looked like it would have kept them occupied! Well done.
