Charm with a familiar twist Stepping into the George and Dragon feels like walking into a friend’s sitting room. The oak door creaks with character, brass lamps throw a soft glow across the old floorboards, and before you've even sat down, you feel at ease. Warm, instinctive service The staff here have nailed that rare mix of being welcoming without being overbearing. They greet you with a knowing smile, make thoughtful recommendations without a script, and somehow seem to intuit what you might enjoy before you even ask. It’s hospitality that feels personal, not polished. Drinks No pretension here, just a well-chosen, rotating lineup of local ales and a compact wine list that covers the essentials. Food 🤌 Genuinely one of the best burgers I’ve had in Kent. What sets the George and Dragon apart is that it doesn’t try too hard. The warmth feels earned, from the friendly team to the thoughtful details and great beer garden. It’s the kind of place that lingers with you afterwards, in the best possible way.

It was OK for the price, the staff all seem unhappy to have customers. We were told bar open until midnight, the told open while they had customers the were told, its closing that was about 11, but had us and another small group of customers. Went again thought it might improve, but it's worse the restaurant staff are not great, they see you and ignore your waiting to get a table, not all the breakfast food was on offer and when I asked for a cup, I was directed to paper cup. If it's a 4 star you don't expect a paper cup for teas and coffee. To cap it off some arrogant chap nick my toast on one of their self toasting machines.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Greyhound. Both Caroline and Steve are exceptional hosts, nothing being too much trouble and both going that extra mile to ensure your stay with them is a very pleasant experience. The breakfast and evening meals that we had were well very well presented and absolutely delicious. Great location for exploring the local historic sites.

Always very welcoming. Can be busy at times, mainly because it is so popular.

We verbleven in het Donnington Manor Hotel. Ontbijt: De eerste dag waren we vroeg en werd het Engelse ontbijt op bestelling klaar gemaakt. De tweede dag was het een ontbijtbuffet. Beide keren keurig verzorgt. Beide diner gehad in The Chartwell. Beide keren lekker van smaak en keurige porties.

Very nice place to eat, nice easy atmosphere, good selection on the menu, especially for vegetarians as they have a good selection, food is well cooked, well presented and are in plentiful portions, staff were particularly helpful and attentive, there is free parking opposite, but do book before you go as there was a good crowd in.we had a party of 6, all had 3 courses plus drinks came in at around £35 a head,so no worries there
