We had lunch here after a walk with the dog around Shoreham. Opted for seniors menu. Chicken chips and salad, steak and ale pie, followed by chocolate fudge cake and lemon tart. Food of good quality and generous portions. A very acceptable pint of Green King IPA to wash it down. At 13 quid for two courses, very reasonably priced. Friendly and helpful staff and dog friendly. Recommended and would definitely return.

We were immediately informed of what they no longer on menu. This even included the lack of brown bread! Was told there was no shortage of the specials on the board, so l chose caramelised onion & brie quiche special but was then told it was to be replaced by a different quiche!!. My salad arrived smothered in dressing l hadn't asked for so left salad. The individual quiche pastry was so hard l merely scraped out the tasteless filling. I had some chips which were OK. Told waitress when she collected plate but received no apology. Will not be returning.

We happened upon this pub from a day hike we did around Lullingstone. We had dinner on our way back and it was a delight! The staff were warm & polite, the pub was accessible as it was only a few minutes away from Shoreham station. The food exceeded our expectations, especially the chicken in the specials menu. It tasted heartwarming like a home cooked meal ♥️

DO NOT COME HERE. Awful experience, this is the kind of place that aims to only receives tourist customers only once. The entire meal was definitely cooked from frozen. Its pub food, I can accept that not every pub will cook properly now but the drinks were just as bad! I had a pint of bitta moretti and it was so foul I thought it was a bottom of barrel fosters! Furthermore, something I only realised in reflection was when we came in they offered my group a table with a stool. The kind of stool one would use to reach the top shelf, not a proper chair. The apathy towards customers is so powerful that they couldn’t even realise this would bother the most willing of yes-men.

Not fantastically impressed - the pub itself seemed nice enough and the staff pleasant when we popped in for a drink and a meal last Friday lunchtime (12th April 2024). We placed our orders for food, took our drinks outside to one of the tables and waited to be served. A number of other people's meals were brought out and after a while we started to think 'surely the next one must be ours?', we then lost track of time a bit and when we checked our receipt we realised that it had been almost an hour since we'd placed our order. I went inside to check on how things were going, only to find that somehow we'd been forgotten, despite having paid up front for our meal - at least we were refunded without any quibbling, but I would imagine that there must be slightly more reliable pubs in the Shoreham area, if you actually want to eat what you've ordered...

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch and passed the Kings Arms. Friends had previously dined there and been pleased, so in we went - at just 12.00 when the kitchen opened. We were warmly welcomed and, being the first in to dine, offered a table where we wanted. Tempted by the blazing fire, we thought that would be too warm, so sat round the corner. The Kings Arms is quite small and made up of a number of seating areas and corners, plus benches outside. By the time we left, many tables were occupied, mostly by diners. We had sandwiches - fish fingers for me, cheese and pickle for my partner. The “fish fingers” were actually breaded cod goujons- very nice but I prefer good old fish fingers in a sandwich - and the amount of very good cheddar was impressive. Both served on our choice of white bloomer or granary bread (we chose white), they came with skinny chips and a green leaf garnish. Very good value at £22.60, which included one large and one regular Diet Coke. On our way out we noticed a Specials board above the fireplace. Worth checking out next time - and there will be a next time.

What a great little find today. We visited Shoreham for a couple of hours this afternoon and ended up in the Kings Arms. Very welcoming and attentive staff who seated the three of us without a booking. I had the roast lamb and my wife and step daughter shared a roast chicken. Food was lovely and very sensibly priced (12.95) per roast, which is very hard to find these days. Possibly the best salted caramel ice cream ever and a bonus freebie scoop of vanilla as this was bought out in error and tasted before we realised! All in all a perfect little traditional pub. Great staff and great food at very affordable prices. Other venues should certainly take note. Thank you all for a pleasant couple of hours.

We received a warm welcome, drinks came quickly, the hot punch was delicious. Our starters were a disappointment, straight out of a freezer packet. The main course roasts were served on cold plates, the meat sliced very thinly and I suspect microwaved and tasteless. We skipped sweets as all had a very high sugar content. This could be a lovely restaurant as warm and homely, spoilt by poor quality food.

Wishing to visit the delightful village of Shoreham in the Darenth Valley, my friend and I booked a table for two at The King’s Arms, one of three pubs in the village. Parking in the village is very competitive, so I would recommend using the nearby free car park, which is five to ten minutes away on foot. Upon arrival, we were quickly shown to a small table in the centre of the restaurant area. There was a decent choice of dishes on the menu, and added specials on a board, although we were only interested in the Sunday roast. Service was admirably speedy as within twenty minutes we had ordered and received our drinks and food. It was nice to have the condiments brought pre-emptively and the waiting staff were efficient and attentive, twice checking that everything was in order. The roast lamb and beef was fine, not spectacular, but excellent value at between £11-13. We also had a £5.95 dessert, which similarly hit the mark. The only possible drawback was that our table was very tightly packed in, literally within breathing distance of our neighbours. The overall hubbub could be a bit off putting to some diners. Having said that, it didn’t bother us, and there are more secluded parts of the restaurant, as well as the opportunity to eat outside. We immediately booked for a return visit, and would happily recommend the King’s Arms to anyone visiting wonderful Shoreham.

What a brilliant and charming place to have lunch. We took my parents, my Scottish/German cousin and her son to Shoreham for a walk, and decided to stop for lunch at the Kings Arms (6 persons in the group). The staff were welcoming, attentive and quick to serve us. The food was delicious, generously sized portions, which was great for those of us with good appetites (basically the whole family). I had the fish cakes, which were homemade and very tasty. The chips were crispy and not greasy,i.e. very good indeed. All the dishes we ordered came with either salad or peas, which was good. We will definitely book again soon, and bring more guests to this well run pub.

Nice service, nice pub. Fish finger sandwich was excellent, the fish fingers themselves incredibly tender. The tartar source was of a high quality and in plentiful supply, as was the Heinz mayo. The scampi was tasty but should be called ‘scipmi’ because the fish content was minimal. Lime and soda was perfect though a bit cold due to unnecessary ice. Filter coffee, not my usual cup, was perfectly acceptable! On a real though, very decent pub :)

Visited this place for the Sunday roast. Well worth the drive - to Shoreham, which is a pretty little village. I had lamb and all the trimmings, which was superb. The wife had steak and ale pie, which she also enjoyed. Food prices are very reasonable. I don't like writing bad reviews about small business but although the food is pretty ok here (simple pubby food done fairly well I'd say), they have a problem with ALLERGIES that makes me worry about broader issues with management etc. My LO has an allergy and this is one of only two places I've been to where the response has been one of "don't know don't care" about whether the food contains allergens. Waiting staff asked chef about 4 items that at first glance we thought we might go for, came back with information about 2 only, and unsure about the other 2. There are laws about this, they should have an allergens book. We were given a very vague report back on another item we asked about which is almost always ok for a dairy allergy, fish fingers (described imaginatively on the menu as gujons). Luckily the allergy isn't severe or I wouldn't have had the confidence to stay in the restaurant. We did get a second report back from the kitchen on an item that staff had been vague about the first time round, but we had kind of lost confidence. We were the only people in the place when we asked about allergies, so staff had the time to deal with this. Not impressed, I'm afraid, will be trying the Samuel Palmer next time I'm in Shoreham!
