The best restaurants serving Default food in Lyndhurst New Forest South East

I went to the Greenwood Tree cafe for the first time a few days ago and the Tuna melt pannis tasted delicious

Friendly service, coffee could had been tastier, it was more like a coffee from a machine rather than freshly made. Ordered mashed avocado with piached eggs on sourdough bread, the bread lacked taste, avocado was very plain. The piached eggs were cooked to the right point. Suggestion, nuts and more flavour to it.

We live locally and were staying near Lyndhurst for the weekend as we were going to an event. We decided to get a takeaway on the way through in Lyndhurst. We ordered it online on the way there and went in to collect it and took it onto our accommodation which was 10 minutes away. I don't like to complain but this was the worst food looking Indian food I have ever had and tasted. We had a chicken korma and a chicken passanda. It was watery, and tasteless and the chicken was definitely not fresh. It was discoloured, brown, crusty and chewy. The sauce was tasteless liquid. We also had a peshwari naan bread that had very little coconut in it and tasteless and part of it was still doughy. The pilau rice was also tasteless. None of the food had any taste at all and it was so disappointing. The food was inedible and I hadn't eaten that day either! My husband just ate his because he was so hungry. He's not one to complain as he will eat anything but he said it was awful. We don't get away very much and could have chosen to eat anywhere in Lyndhurst. We wish we had got a pizza from the forage. The only positive thing was the poppadoms... That was tasty and fresh and ironically it was free as we didn't order it! I did email the restaurant the next day asking for them to get back to me and requesting a refund but so far have had no response. I can't believe anyone can give this place a good rating and how it has 4.5 stars out of 5. I want my money back as we spent £25 on inedible food. I was worried my husband was going to be really unwell the next day from the chicken. Do not recommend at all. Please get in touch with me to resolve this. Then I can at least put in a good review about your customer service and you show you do care about what the customers are saying, and make changes.

Honestly food was amazing, can’t fault that at all! But the customer service was appalling, we turned up to an empty restaurant at 5pm asking for a table for 2, and was initially told there were no tables. After saying we wanted to eat right away, we got a table and sat down. Starters were lovely, mains came and I ordered a burger with chips, and it felt like I was asking for the world when I requested some Mayo. They didn’t check whether the food was okay half way through, when we asked for the bill, they came over to collect the mains and didn’t ask whether we enjoyed the food. Service charge added straight away, so we removed as I didn’t feel it was deserved. Weird atmosphere, but couldn’t fault the food!

Excellent food very fresh & the best Thai we have had for a long time great flavours. Lovely staff served with a smile & not too long a wait even though they were busy.

Not the prettiest from the outside, but come inside and you’ll discover a great choice of food and huge portions. Friendly staff, and it’s also dog friendly.

We received a welcome with which we were very pleased as we haven't been there for a few years as have moved, etc and the Manager, Andrew, recognised us at once and remembered our name. We enjoyed a scrumptious meal, cooked to our liking and served by friendly staff. Still well impressed and we will be going back there very soon.

Excellent service and great food. Surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be coming back.

Tried to go last Saturday evening, No phone attendance, booking system did not work, just turned up to find it closed.

This was our second visit. The venue is beautiful, the bar is splendid it. Food: The starter - the sauce was over powering and salty for my taste. Main meal, the pigeon was beautifully cooked, still pink inside 😋, however again the sauce was over powering and slightly too salty, still managed to enjoy it. The tiramisu was pure alcohol, well over soaked and a massive splodged portion. The staff were pleasant. Would I come again? ...Possibly, Would I recommend it? Yes, it is a wonderful place with a sense of occasion.

This was our second visit to this wonderful pub and both times have been excellent! The food, drink and atmosphere are all exceptional, we would highly recommend this fantastic pub!

After passing this place numerous times over the years, I had the opportunity to visit today, I had a milkshake and pancakes with peanut butter and banana, absolutely delicious, I was the only diner and unfortunately today was their last day of trading, I'm so glad I finally got a visit in, such a shame it's closing tbh, very good food/service at a reasonable price

Honestly the best Indian we’ve ever had. Absolutely loved eating in (two adults, two children) so we had take takeaway later in our stay! If/when we’re back in lyndhurst this will be our first port of call! Lovely mains, sides, breads and poppadoms!

Room was large, clean and bright, the staff was super friendly, service was first class, Bunny in particular went out of her way to make sure we had a very comfortable stay.
