After passing this place numerous times over the years, I had the opportunity to visit today, I had a milkshake and pancakes with peanut butter and banana, absolutely delicious, I was the only diner and unfortunately today was their last day of trading, I'm so glad I finally got a visit in, such a shame it's closing tbh, very good food/service at a reasonable price

Visited after a long walk in the Forest; chose tea, coffee, biscoff cheesecake (x 2) and... a Pimms! Very peaceful on the roof garden - surprising given how busy the High Street was. Excellent fare and very good service. The cheesecake was very tasty and the Pimms, exceptional: loaded with summer fruits and just the right liquid mix. Very good value for money indeed; I could hardly believe the bill given how good the food and drink had been. The tea rooms are just above the traffic lights on the main drag but very well worth the extra couple of dozen steps. Highly recommend

The decor of the restaurant is cute and creative, a nice place to eat if you have children, but personally it is not where I'd go to eat again. The owner is lovely, the food is average and very affordable, but the toilets I'm afraid to say are quite ghastly.

We only popped in for a drink, so I can't comment on the food. This cafe is really quirky, the Alice in Wonderland theme is throughout the cafe, with teapot lights hanging from the ceiling. I would imagine this would be a wonderful venue for a child's party.

We popped in for coffee and cake yesterday (Saturday) and were greeted by a wonderful, creative cafe 'down the rabbit hole!' The two girls serving were so helpful when we requested their gluten free options. We had lemon drizzle cake, the flavour was devine but it was a little dry than expected. My daughter who is GF had the GF carrot cake and that was truly scrumptious. We really enjoyed the roof terrace, super quirky and full of character. The additional fancy dress hats added a laugh. The coffee all round was great (and the milkshakes too). Our table was cleaned as we arrived but we couldn't all help but agree that the toilets needed a good scrub. The tiles were filthy and it needed a good bleaching around and mop. This may have been a busy Saturday for them but regular checks might help. The dirt on the tiles was not fresh. Overall, our experience was a really good one and we don't want the criticism of the toilets to put anyone off, just helpful feedback. We didn't buy hot food, but the menu looked really good. The ladies beside us ordered food and it looked delicious!

I found this cafe while having a look around the area for places to eat. I’m a Disney fan so was drawn to this place. It is amazingly themed. The staff there were friendly, service with a smile. They offered us a table and took our order. Food came out pretty quick and tasted good. We ordered a jacket potato with beans which came with a salad and coleslaw. We also ordered a ham and cheese toasty which came with crisp, salad and coleslaw. The hot chocolate was really good! The tea came in an Alice in Wonderland themed style. Would love to visit again if I come back to the area.

Newly renovated and reopened. My wife and I visit lyndhurst regularly and have tried just about every place to eat in town. All we want is a refreshing drink and a light snack in pleasant surroundings at a reasonable price. Not much to ask you might think but not necessarily so easy to find in a tourist town. The Mad Hatter fits the bill perfectly. Simple food well prepared and presented by friendly people. The fact that the ladies that run the place are the ones who took on the business, renovated it and cook the food makes a real difference. They are in it because they live it and that positivity shines through. So, here’s to our new favourite place in lyndhurst.

I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten in and eaten in so many. The restaurant has a lovely, relaxed but special vibe. The staff are exceptional. The food was out of this world!!! Incredible ingredients, flavours and beautifully presented. We chose a red, an expensive red, but instead of taking our order, we were told it’s tanning and mix might not go with our dish. We were instead recommended a different wine that was so yummy we ordered a second. Super impressed. This is a destination restaurant and we’ll be back again and again

This review is based on my experience on the day and could be different for you, but I doubt it. Superb service from this F&C take away and excellent food to boot to. Called ahead and asked if they cooked Gluten Free on a Saturday - was advised it was cooked Tuesday to Saturday- as one member of our party had an eating disorder. Complied our order and called back a 2nd time and placed the order and was told it would be made immediately. Drove there and collected it after paying. Superb service. FYI- they do not deliver so collection is the only option. F&C was excellent and tasty all found, no complaints and empty plates as was the add on food expected within a fish and chip shop that we purchased. Have to say the Saveloys were superb and very tasty. So to summarise, superb helpful staff, fantastic food, good for people with food allergies, all sorted very quickly Try it you will be back Trudy me on this.

Just a quick shout out to the Cliff house. Usually put a review on every now and then for the Cliff house. Ate here last week and yet again exceptional service, great choice of drinks and good menu. Had a chateaubriand which was cooked perfectly. Price is ok for location. Thoroughly enjoyable

As usual we had a very enjoyable lunch here today. Despite having two vegetarians and one gluten free out of the five of us, nothing was too much trouble. We all had different very tasty roasts. Followed by some good desserts, the toffee roulade was great. The Ship’s Sunday roast is definitely the best around here.
