The white horse in New Forest

Very nice premises, and the staff were very lovely and helpful! We tried the beef burger, fish and chips and a brie tart. The food was quite good bar the fish, hence the loss of one star.

We were staying nearby to The White Horse and decided to have their Sunday Roast dinner. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. There were other choices on offer, which change frequently, but we elected to have the Roast Beef. We can honestly say that this was THE best pub roast that we have had, and we’ve sampled many. Presentation was spot on, food was hot and the cauliflower cheese (included) was delicious and cheesy. The beef was thick cut and tender. Added touches were crispy onions in the Yorkshire pudding and pea shoots garnish. All in all a lovely meal and a pub that we will make a beeline for next time we visit the area. Well done team 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Superp food (as always) as we've been here a few times the good lady and I. The staff are always so pleasant, and helpful, and the surroundings are lovely and homely. Such a great way to chill out and enjoy a meal and a drink. Brilliant. Say no more!!

We had a gorgeous three course Christmas 🎄 lunch last Saturday; a wonderful selection & ample portions 😁 Friendly and warm staff that don't rush you through courses. The mulled wine is like a hug in a glass 😋 A free bottle of prosecco to enjoy with our meal too 🍾 🥂 Laura and Sophie are the perfect hosts 💕 Highly recommended A really lovely atmosphere 😍

Kitchen closed at 8pm on a Friday night so couldn’t try the food. Bar staff seemed unmotivated and not particularly friendly - it was almost like we were an inconvenience to them. Won’t go back wouldn’t recommend.

Mid week lunch with family. Lovely meals enjoyed by all. Very friendly, helpful and prompt service. Too hot to sit outside, so we sat inside. Lovely and cool with a relaxed atmosphere 😊

Food was great, however table service was the let down. We wanted dessert after our main meal and no-one was coming over to clear our plates, so ended up not having dessert and just going to the bar to pay.

Great local New Forest pub. Friendly staff, nice outdoor seating area which is well lit up at night. Good for watching sports as well.

Booked a Sunday carvery for 5.30pm, food average. Tried to order desserts to be told kitchen was closed! Why not tell us when we booked, we would've booked our desserts then! Young waitress was polite and looked after us as best she could. Certainly not the warmest of welcomes and ignored us when we left, no goodbye or thanks for coming!! Would we go again......in a word No!! 👎

Always hearty homecooked style pub food, nice flavours and good portion sizes. Usually a good selection of beers on tap, always worth a visit. Dogs welcome inside as long as you're sat in front of the bar.

Had a lovely meal here, very welcome with our 12 year old son. Had one of the best burgers in a long time. Nice place, good atmosphere, good food.

Lunchtime visit.Very cold inside pub. Stopped serving food at 2pm. Didn't tell us that or we'd have ordered food at same time as main course. So no pudd. Not even an offer of ice cream. Hot chocolate with all the trimmings then? No cream. But the hot chocolate was nice.Not too sweet & it did have marshmallows on the side. HOWEVER the main meal food was delicious. A very varied menu. Not the usual bar food.I had Tuna steak with sweet potato mash. The Tuna was cooked to perfection. Meal was nice n hot & very tasty. Compliments to the Chef. Staff very friendly. I'd certainly recommend the food. Remember if you're going for lunch- kitchen closes at 2pm on the dot.

Very nice self contained bed sit. Plenty of room with good facilities and a very nice shower room. Drive way off the main road needs care. Wonderful stay.

Popped in for impromptu light lunch with my friend after a visit to vets with her dog in Bournemouth. We were greeted by Ange,who was lovely. A great member of staff and real asset to the team! Really lovely pub, homely atmosphere and food was great! Will definitely be back! Absolutely recommend 👌

Great little pub just a short walk from our campsite. Lovely outside seating area a lot of it under cover should the weather turn. Great beer lovely staff and the food looked great too.

£15 for "Hand battered bistro cod"... definitely a pop-in-the-oven bit of frozen Birds Eye cod. Will definitely not be eating here again. Rip off.

Food was tasty but small portions. Food on silly wooden boards. Asked for salad just got a bowl of rocket. Friend had a small tuna steak and cup of chips £16 ! Gin & Tonic £6.10p. Dissapointing.

Used to love this place, there was a fantastic variety of food which was always delicious. Today's trip really wasn't great. Disappointed there was no Sunday roast, and the menu had really changed from how it was before. Gone were the beautiful home-cooked meals, in their place was overpriced, run of the mill food, which tasted microwaved. Sad to be saying goodbye to this place.

We were welcomed by the owner who told us where we could sit which was fine, no covid check in QR code that we could find and when asking about it we were met with no response. We’re very benefit of the doubt people - so knowing we had a new girl who’s first shift was today we were fine with ☺️ She seemed lovely! I don’t think she had really been shown what to do, or given the opportunity to shadow someone, but I could tell she was confused/nervous. Which we were fine with and fully understand and support after all everyone has to start somewhere! Our first round of drinks came out in decent time. We then asked for one more drink later on, it took a while (before receiving our food) so I went in just to chase it up, I then saw the man who welcomed us behind the bar trying to chase up our tables food (he’s been sat down having a few pints with a regular/friend, so it was nice of him to still show concern) to which I overheard the kitchen did not have a ticket for our food. The new waitress didn’t know she had to take the ticket out, which is fair enough if no one had told her!! That’s not her fault at all. We would’ve liked the owner to have touched table and just apologise for the wait on food and explain or maybe even offer something to show an apology, but we didn’t get that, just multiple sorry’s from the same waitress bless her, it’s not their fault! It just would’ve been nice to have that owner interaction. Another Waitress told us our food wouldn’t be long (I felt bad for the girl who originally served us and I genuinely hope she’s ok!). We asked for another couple of drinks from a different waitress and she seemed puzzled and like she didn’t want to deal with us as we weren’t “her table” but still took our drinks anyway. The food... AMAZING!!! As always - chefs always outdo themselves here! After the food I did have a conversation with Sophie about our experience, and she is a complete asset to the pub! So so lovey so understanding and has sorted us out something for when we return - which we still definitely will! Thank you to all the chefs and particularly Sophie, honestly you are all a credit to this team! ⭐️ I always feel bad and anxious for making a complaint or just sharing an “off” experience with a staff member but Sophie didn’t make me feel like an inconvenience or a trouble whatsoever and genuinely hoped we’d return which don’t worry Sophie, we definitely will!

We were very dissapointed with our meal and also the service we had.Our food took almost an hour to arrive,when it did arrive it was of poor quality. When we also had to wait to pay for the bill,the girl had lost the payment card,after waiting for ages they finally found it with no apology at all,we will not be returning.

Spent a lovely evening with friends sitting outside under the fairy lights and beside a heater at the weekend. Great atmosphere and the food was delicious 😋. The menu, tho small, is varied and each dish very tasty. The desserts too didn't disappoint 😋. We enjoyed it so much we went back again this evening for more!🤪. Can highly recommend a visit. Lived locally to this pub for over 50 years and had never visited until last week. The food was so good that we returned today. Lovely atmosphere, cosy under the outside seating area canopy and food DELICIOUS! Highly recommend this establishment and will be returning.....probably even before this review has even been published!! Thank you to all involved!!

In these difficult times cannot fault at all. Had to be outside because of restrictions. Great sheltered outside area with heaters. Fantastic food and very good prices. Staff were so attentive & helpful.

Eaten here a few times and never had a bad meal. Staff are always happy to help.
