Came here for teas and cakes between Xmas and New Year after a long walk to Hurst Castle with friends and our very large Labradoodle Heston. We were made so welcome, as was all the other clients, including a young lad who was given a pirates headscarf from the owners dad who does a very good impression of a pirate. Top marks to a very quaint and friendly village cafe.

We arrived with 4 adults and 5 children. Seats available and were told there wouldn't be any hot food - no issue as we only wanted drinks and cakes. We then discovered we'd arrived just before closing however Richard served us and entertained the children brilliantly. We all had different drinks, some hot some cold and cakes and ice creams. Not an easy order and not ideal at closing time however Richard didn't complain once. The cakes were superb and all homemade. The kids said the milkshakes were amazing too! If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be visiting!!

Walked out after being ignored for over 20 minutes. Real shame as we were hungry and the food looked good, but after being directed to a recently vacated table that we were told would be cleared we sat for over 20 minutes with no contact from staff who were busy faffing around behind the table making drinks or serving cakes etc. The table wasn't cleared and we were totally ignored. Even a 'sorry we are busy - will be with you shortly' would have done. But nothing. After over 20 minutes waiting with no indication of when we would be served we just got up and walked out. Really need to learn how to make customers feel welcome. Had to walk over to the CO OP and make do with a meal deal. Really spoiled a day out.

Wanting to take the mother-in-law for a afternoon tea we made numerous phone calls only to receive a poor response or ridiculous prices until we contacted Pollys, from the moment the phone was answered we got positivity, a booking for 3 was made for the Luxury Tea, when we arrived we received a warm welcome and shown to our table in the window, when the Tea arrived I couldn’t believe how much there was, the other customers looked on in amazement the sandwiches were so tasty and fresh, the cakes were obviously freshly made and fantastic, Scones were huge with lovely jam and lots of cream, we ended up taking a lot of it home with us. Polly’sFantastic is well worth the visit as is the beautiful village.

Used to live nearby and popped down at the wknd to see family so thought would take a little trip to Milford first for breakfast having set off from our place at 7am. Must admit, we weren't planning on coming here as we intended to eat in what used to be a lovely cafe down the road. However, when we got there it now only does takeaway. The lady suggested we went to Polly's Pantry. We said no, we've been there before and it wasn't for us but she said it's got different owners and is much nicer now, you should try it. So we did and she wasn't wrong! We went for a Malcolm's cowboy breakfast each and a pot of tea for two. Food came out in good time and was piping hot. I often have to ask for extra butter but there was plenty for my two slices of toast. We both agreed it was a very tasty breakfast with lovely bacon too. Pot of tea came out with the food as requested which was a bonus. Often find despite requesting this that people forget and send it prior to the food so was pleased with that. It's the little things that make the difference. Richard who served us was very welcoming and friendly and we had a good little chat with him whilst he took our orders although we never did discover who Malcolm is! Dog friendly cafe and the dog biscuits were pointed out to me when I arrived which was another nice touch. Reasonably priced too. Only disappointment is that we live 100 miles away. Will we come back? Most definitely.

We wanted somewhere for a morning coffee and a snack, in lieu of breakfast. Looking in through the window, we were impressed that we could see that efforts had been made for good separation of tables, in such a small place, by hanging transparent screens. So in we went.We were initially very impressed with the Covid arrangements. In addition to the screens, the waitress was masked and there was hand sanitiser, as one would expect, and our temperatures were taken also. (Although we late realised that no-one had taken our contact details for track and trace purposes.) So we sat and gave our order of two Cappuccinos, a bacon bap and a toasted tea cake. There was only one other table in the café occupied at this time, with a family of four. So whilst it seemed to take a little while to get our coffees, we were even more surprised that it took so long for our snacks to be served. So long, in fact, that my wife had long finished her coffee and I had to ask whether they would be much longer. And when they were served, the man from the kitchen who brought my bap, was wearing neither a mask nor a visor! My wife's tea cake was Ok, although we do wish that more cafes would put a bit more butter with them; two small portions is really not enough. But my bacon bap was rather strange. I was warned that the plate was very hot, and it was, but so also was both the bap and the bacon in it. To the extent that the bacon would burn your mouth! It was far hotter than one would expect just from being freshly fried or grilled, and I can only think that the whole thing was probably zapped in the microwave on the plate. Not at all impressed!

Firstly ALL the trimmings were unavailable (cream/marshmallows/flake) The hot chocolate itself was made with water (yes water) and it was extremely weak with a little frothy milk spooned on the top to try and make it look good. Wasn’t welcoming - people ahead of me had to ask if they were serving to which the response was “if you let me do this I’ll be with you” (did not seem bothered that there was a line of customers) baring in mind they had 2 people sitting down and eating so wasn’t exactly busy. I was told that it would take 15 mins for 2 tuna baguettes, went back after 15 mins and food still wasn’t ready. Had to wait another 10 mins for it to be done. There was way too much mayo in the baguette so you couldn’t even taste the tuna. Won’t be going back there.

Terrible, order was taken only to be then told food would be a 30 minute wait. We were with a 3 year old and a 3 month so this wasn’t ideal but we figured it would be quicker to wait than go elsewhere. We asked if the meal for our 3 year old could be done quicker and they managed to prepare this in 5 minutes.40 minutes later our food arrived, ham, eggs and chips which was extremely basic, the bottom of the egg wasn’t edible and a jacket potato. When we complained about the wait the owner said it was busy and lots of orders had come in at the same time but it wasn’t even that busy and it was lunchtime so I would have thought you would expect that. The standard of food certainly didn’t warrant the wait time.We were offered some free cake but based on our experience of the food asked for a discount which we were reluctantly given. On a positive the girl who served us was really nice, she explained it was only her second day and the delay in the kitchen obviously wasn’t her fault. Unfortunately it seemed no time had really been spent given her any training, she hadn’t even been shown of to take a card payment.

Victoria sponge wasn't very good. Also wasn't serving any hot foods at the time of day we went, disappointing!

Arrived at 3:15pm the menus stated afternoon tea served until 3:30, afternoon tea state's it contains any sandwich, any 2 cakes 2 scones etc... , asked for several different sandwiches and everything I asked for I was told no, prawn, BLT, Brie and bacon, or any toasted sandwich we don't cook after 2:30, how is that classed as any sandwich?Ended up with coffee and a cake, not exactly what I was expecting, only to find that the cake was quite dry.Just before we left someone came in and asked for hot crumpets and that was OK? What happened to no hot food.?Won't be going back there.

Friendly owner. Very small coffee cups though. You don't get a cafetiere, and had run out of cream.

Popped in for coffee and a scone, was busy when I came in, however the lady greeted me and said she would be with me ASAP , which was no problem as I wasn’t in a hurry. She was smiley and very friendly in fact, was lovely ( a bonus for this cafe owner) The scone was good as was the service, I received , however what I didn’t like was the way the owner spoke to his staff. As a customer I don’t want to hear that from your kitchen. I work in the catering industry, I know when I see good staff, front of house is important, she is an asset to your business, I hope you appreciate her.
