Chiang Mai Thai in New Forest

Absolutely amazing!!! Cannot describe how authentic and delicious this Thai is. The best. The staff are lovely and every meal I’ve ever had has been 10/10.excellent value for lunch at £9.99 including a drink

We booked this restaurant during our stay at the Crown Manor. It appeals because of the name of the hotel, and without fail, it promised northern Thai food. It is a big place despite the small entrance way. We sat upstairs with limited Thai decor but downstairs looks good on the way up. The menu offered dishes not listed but you can’t make requests on a busy Saturday night! This could be stipulated so that guests aren’t disappointed. As a Thai person, I made a specific request! Instead, I had beef salad which was Thai hot. It was delicious and I can eat that all day long. The meals were reasonably priced. It is worth a visit if you’re in Lyndhurst.

We spent an amazing time there. Everything was delicious : homemade drinks, starters, main meals and desserts ! The place was not crowded at all but it really deserves to be well known in the area !

This is situated on the high street in what looks like an old pub, it is not particularly big so I would suggest booking in advance, as we saw a few people turned away. We were impressed by the menu on offer and the quality of the food, the service was friendly too. This place turned out to be a bit of a hidden jewel as we weren't expecting such quality from what looked like a small, unassuming place. We would definitely go back.

Passed by for dinner with family while visiting the region. Food was delicious and in the right proportions (not too much , not too little). Service was friendly and the menu gives you a rather ample choice. Definitely a good restaurant.

We went for our wedding anniversary lunch, and we’re pleased to find this place open. The staff were lovely, and very friendly, Chantelle and the waiter (I should have asked his name) both remembered me from previous visits to their lovely restaurant in Chandler’s Ford, which, unfortunately, isn’t open for lunch. They made us feel most welcome. It’s a lovely restaurant, nicely decorated, could do with the cleaner looking upwards though, as there was a lot of dust and cobwebs on the light above our table, and along the ceiling edges too. We ordered our drinks, and were really thirsty after walking around the town in 24 degrees heat. We then placed our food order some time afterwards. It was quite quiet, as only a regular Wednesday, so just a couple of other people having lunch there when we visited, definitely not busy. We eagerly waited for our drinks. Our starters were brought to us, but still no drinks unfortunately. I mentioned we were desperate for a drink, then they were quickly brought to us, I think they had just forgotten about them, pity. The Tom Yum soup was delicious, and the chicken satay starter was scrumptious, great satay sauce. Would have been better if the salad wasn’t floating on water, that was odd, it was rather soggy. For main course we had chilli chicken, which had a perfect heat and taste to it, and prawns with cashews, absolutely gorgeous food. Unfortunately, we had also ordered a Chicken Pad Thai to accompany our dishes, we we’re told it would be with us shortly. It wasn’t. I asked again for the Pad Thai, was told it was on its way. By the time it arrived hubby had eaten 3/4 of his dish and I had eaten half of mine, most disappointing. If we had waited for the Pad Thai to be served our main course dishes would have been cold. We ended up just taking it home with us. Better than eat at home anyway, as the beansprouts on top of it were raw, and cold. In all honesty, if it hadn’t been because staff remembered us, and we visit their other restaurant, I would have just sent it back and said it was too late. No reason all three dishes couldn’t have been brought to us at the same time. My dish arrived a couple of minutes after hubby’s did as well. All in all we did enjoy our visit, and would eat here again if visiting Lyndhurst, because the quality of the food is excellent . I hope they get their cleaner to do the job properly, and every meal ordered will come out at the same time going forward.

Delicious food, and lovely staff. Also very good value for money. The food arrived quickly. I've been to Chiang Mai, Thailand and I've been to Chiang Mai Thai, Lyndhurst. I would recommend either for a visit, but Chiang Mai Thai is closer if you are in the UK so is more convenient and economical on a per visit basis. 11/10 would go again.

The BEST, most authentic thai- cannot fault it! Chiang Mai Thai is honestly my favourite restaurant ever. I’ve lived in Lyndhurst my entire life and I would love everyone who visits to try this place! Reasonable prices and flavoursome food no matter what you order! The Penang curry and weeping tiger steak are personal favourites- not to mention how lovely the staff are. A very cosy while spacious interior! Can’t speak nightly enough of this thai- thank you again for a great lunch and dinners x

Visited in July as staying overnight in Lyndhurst. Called and reserved a table 20 minutes before and so glad we chose this place for dinner. Not knowing the area at all we didn’t know where to eat. Food was delicious and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Good prices and lots to choose from!

This is a local thai restaurant to us but our first visit for a while. I think it's under new ownership since our last visit. The food was absolutely delicious, some of the best we recently had, and the service fantastic, friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend and we will be returning.

We had a number of European meals during our week’s stay in Lyndhurst. I wish we’d gone to Chiang Mai first. We eat out at Thai restaurants regularly, but this restaurant is in a different league. Really authentic and simply superb. If only we didn’t live more than a hundred lies away!

Wow! Really great tastes. This is authentic Thai, and excellent value. Food arrived quickly, service cheerful and efficient. Small, cosy, unpretentious. Easy parking next to Lyndhurst centre car park..We will return..

Nice small restaurant but could do with some background music when there aren’t many people in it, ambience improved as it filled up. Starters were a bit greasy and dips were tiny Mains were nice (average)

Lovely Thai restaurant. Friendly staff, reasonable price and the food was amazing! We had mixed starters, chicken penang, lamb massaman and jasmine rice. For dessert a pandan crepe with sweet coconut filling! Delightful! Definitely recommend!

Was working away from home. Walked into this restaurant, not expecting anything. Had a wonderful meal. All courses cooked with care and attention. Very flavoursome, freshly made. No additives, nor msg. Will definitely come back next time I’m in the neighbourhood. Many thanks!
