Anissa's Thai Kitchen in New Forest

Fantastic food! We had a friendly welcome and there was a great menu choice. We chose chicken crackling and satay, a beef penang, pad thai and jasmine rice. It was some of the best thai food we have experienced. Meat was tender and the aromatic and spicy flavours really complimented each other. The decor was a little tired but I would thoroughly recommend a visit as we had great food which was reasonably priced.

We visited Lyndhurst for a few days and saw great reviews for Anissa’s Thai Kitchen. We had a friendly welcome and were handed a menu which had all the usual Thai dishes and a few I had not seen before. There was a great choice. I enquired about one dish and our server was helpful and knowledgeable. We chose chicken crackling and satay to share. Both very tasty. For main we shared a beef penang, pad thai and jasmine rice. It was some of the best thai food we have experienced. Meat was tender and the aromatic and spicy flavours really complimented each other. The decor was a little tired but service was excellent. I did overhear a customer mention that it has a planned makeover soon. I would thoroughly recommend a visit as we had great food which was reasonably priced.

we come every year when we visit the New Forest. Cannot fault the amazing food in this restaurant. Food is first class, the lady who serves us is always friendly and advises on authentic dishes. We always factor in a try here when we visit, wouldn't miss it

We made a large order for takeaway today for a family get together. The food was delicious. I can really recommend the Choo Chee with Jumbo Prawns. The curry itself was delicious and the prawns were very large and fantastic quality. There was a small mistake made with the order and when we called the restaurant they resolved this for us quickly and generously.

Very good Thai food at reasonable prices. Let down by inattentive service (just like a reviewer last month, I note that no one checked in on us during our meal and we had to go up to the bar to order and pay). Of particular note one of the servers appeared very new, dressed informally, and, when referring to the gaeng gati, pointed to it on the menu after I ordered it and said "Whatever that [dish] is, did you want chicken or pork?" which didn't inspire confidence

We’ve had a couple of takeaways from here when camping just outside Lyndhurst. It’s not cheap …: but it is very very good!! We couldn’t eat in as we have a dog. They don’t deliver but it was only a 10 minute cycle ride for me to collect it and the smell of the food propelled me back 😉 If you need a treat this is the place to go. The service was very efficient and friendly, and the food was very excellent.

I've always really enjoyed the food at Anissa's, and we tend to go here for the odd meal, bring family here when they come to stay and for special occasions. We've always found the service to be slow, but that's been outweighed by the nice food. We visited the restaurant on Saturday and I'm afraid on this occasion I wasn't impressed. We ordered the spicy crackers which I love, but the sweet chilli sauce was watered down and runny. We both ordered the satay chicken for starters which was tasty and well cooked, but they've reduced the number of skewers you get now. For the main, I ordered the massamun curry, which I'll say at this point was tasty. But.. all of the chicken meat in the dish was bone meat with all of the skin on every piece and I ended up with a plateful of chicken skin. There was also a piece of undercooked chicken in the dish as well. At no point did the waitress check in to ask how our food was. I even tried flagging them down. I also sat for half the meal without a drink. I might have been slightly more understanding if the restaurant was busy, but there were only two other tables being served at the time. When the waitress came to take our plates away, I did explain that I wasn't happy with the meal, and seeing so much skin gave me the ick! She apologised, and said that others had said the same. Then one of the owners came out and explained about the recipe. To me, I felt like it was an excuse and more of a way of cutting costs by using cheaper cuts of meat. What I will say is that they did take the cost of my main dish off the bill which was unexpected, but fair. This experience has unfortunately put me off going back, but if anything changes such as more attentive service and quality of ingredients, and perhaps better acoustics then please let me know.

Five stars only because I cannot give Six. One of the best Thai meals I have had. Family owned and good quality produce. Also one of the best menus I have seen for gluten free labelling. Can be dog friendly too, if you book in advance. Thanks again for a wonderful meal and reasonably priced too.

Good and service were great. We visited as part of a trip to the New Forest and we pre-booked via email. Service was excellent and we both loved the food - we had the panang curry with rice. Starters were excellent and all good was piping hot. Very reasonable prices and drinks good quality. Definitely visit again when we are in Lyndhurst.

Lovely traditional Thai food rather than tourist/western interpretation. The chef will adjust your food to suit your tastes and, where possible, will make a vegan or gluten free version.

We absolutely adore Anissa's Thai - having spent many months in Thailand over the years this is hands down the best Thai food outside of Thailand. As a fellow New Forest Marque member too - really great that they use local, top quality ingredients too. This is a regular haunt for us, so tasty, incredibly friendly and good value. Thank you!

We've been eating here since it opened and enjoyed takeaways through Covid. The owner is a likeable chap and I remember discussing the origin of the restaurant as a truly authentic dining experience with dishes direct from his home village cooked by Auntie on our first visit. A simple menu delivered what it promised. On our latest visit, the menu had changed to become a bit more mainstream and the furniture has gone from eclectic to uniform. I'm not saying the food's not good (it's great), but much has transformed the humble eatery. It's a nice place and I hope it continues to do well - somehow I miss the limited menu... Still, I recommend it.

Ate here this evening. Had Green Thai and massman and also Thai fishcakes and sour sausage. All the food was absolutely delightful. Really quick service too. 70 for starters mains and 3 beers so reasonable price. Everything was fresh and tatsy

The Garlic Salt Squid was one of the worst squid dishes I've ever eaten. Tiny circles of squid so dry that it was like trying to eat rubber bands - only less elastic. I'm used to eating chillies but one piece caused me significant distress. For nearly 10 minutes, I could hardly talk. A terrible dish but I didn't want to complain at the time because I didn't want to put a downer on the evening for my wife and friends. Very poor value for money.

The best Thai around Southampton in a very nice small village. Excellent fresh made curry with fish and lots of other dishes with good balanced flavors. Next time i'm back in the country, I will be eating here more.

We've eaten here twice now when holidaying in Lyndhurst and both times have been amazing. Both times we've ordered for collection and food was ready very promptly and tasted delicious. A happy reminder of our honeymoon in Thailand many years ago. Thank you.

Table for two for dinner. 1 x large Singha, water, soup, squid, panang, noodles - £50 so good value. Squid starter was rather disappointing, a little too dry possibly, sauce with it went well. Soup was good although quite a small portion, good prawns, mee gati noodles were a good choice, panang sauce very good and vegetables were crisp and not overcooked. Service was good, we had all items together and that took about 35 minutes which was fine as we were in no rush. Good experience, we will return. PS Gluten Free items well labelled.

What a wonderful find! This family run Thai restaurant serves beautiful authentic Thai food. Vegan options available too! Would really recommend the Tom Yum King prawn dish amongst others.

Staff were polite and friendly, food tasted fresh and authentic and very well priced. Atmosphere was a little flat and decor would benefit from a refresh.

Seriously, look no further. If you’re around here, this is the must-go places to eat! An unassuming little restaurant, with the most hospitable staff. I love how all age kids friendly they are (look at the presentation of the kids menu and hearty portion!). For adults, the menu is an absolute delight! Not your usual standard Thai options, but be adventurous. Take your pick. You won’t be disappointed!

The food here is exceptional! My wife and I have been to so many different lovely Thai restaurants, but this one is by far the best tasting restaurant by far. The dishes were fresh, the special mixed starter platter was fresh and not greasy in the slightest. This is the go to Thai place 100%

We were greeted and had a choice of tables, it was a quite wet week day evening in March. There was no faulting the food, it was served promptly maybe too prompt between starter and main. The food was hot, plentiful and very delicious. However, the service was poor. There was not the checks to see if we were ok or wanted anything else. Yes I know you can ask if you need anything but most places now check on their diners. It took several attempts to get the servers attention to get the bill. No thank yous or goodbyes upon leaving.

I took three friends here for dinner as I had been recommended the restaurant. They have a lovely menu with some less usual Thai dishes. We shared Vegetable Spring Rolls and Veggie Kanom Jeeb to start. To follow we enjoyed Pad Thai with Prawns, Vegetable Panang Curry and Fish Red Curry. All were delicious and authentic. For dessert two of shared Cherry Ice Cream. Service was good. Shame it was uncomfortably cold but we’ll visit again.

Hidden gem!!! Absolutely amazing, very authentic and friendly. We weren’t expecting to find an authentic Thai restaurant in the New Forest. Lots of gluten free options, including some excellent deep fried crispy chicken crackling and squid. Very light and not oily at all. They use cuttle fish, which has a better flavour and more delicate than the big squid most restaurants use for calamari. Thanks for the delicious curry and the rice dishes! Many thank for the coconut ice lolly too 😊 Now all I can think of is this Thai restaurant whenever I’m in the New Forest.

Amazing, authentic Northern Thai cuisine! I love this place. We love our Thai food and have eaten at many restaurants in the area. Anissa's hands down beats all of the rest. Sutti is an amazing business owner and host. Such a kind, friendly and accommodating person. He's always got a smile on his face and makes you feel special every time you go there. The food is just delicious! I love my Thai food as spicy as possible and instead of just having jungle curry as the extra-spicy option, there's more on offer here! If you like a spice challenge, give the Kua Gling a go. It's so packed with flavour and will test even the most hardened of fire eaters! The restaurant is priced fairly. Not the cheapest but you are paying for quality. Give Anissa's a go. You won't regret it.

Once again a fabulous evening with wonderful food. A family run business with authentic delicious Thai food, local ingredients and friendly staff. Sutti is very welcoming and we are so lucky to have this place in Lyndhurst. Check out their cooking classes too - they are great fun and easy to recreate the dishes at home.

went here the other day for my 40th wedding anniversary and was greeted by a lovely blonde waitress who took good care of me and my husband whose unfortunatly in a wheelchair right now due to falling down the stairs. the food was a bit naff but i enjoyed the company of the blonde waitress whose name i didnt catch. however i loved the kp louis kirk. will be coming back for my 70th birthday in a few week!!!

Came here for dinner with friends. Food was average. Not bad but nothing to get excited about. I wouldn't choose to come back but if my friends wanted to meet back here out of convenience then, yeah fine. One staff girl was very rude but that's just her. The other staff were OK. The atmosphere was pretty bland.

Food was ok. I had the calamari starter which although the flavour wasn’t too bad, the texture was dry and tough. Yup not rubbery, tough. It was quite a chew. Then I had the Fish Grapow which came with rice. It was a bit too salty I had to borrow a lime from my friends Pad Thai to break the saltiness. Even then I wish it had a slightly sweet flavour to lift it. But the one thing that could’ve really ruined our night was the service. We chose not to let it bother us then as we were out with friends we haven’t seen in awhile. The waitress that took our order really had an attitude. She pulled faces when my friend ordered, maybe she mispronounced something I don’t know. Then when she brought my mains she put it down whilst facing and talking to someone else whilst I watched the sauce dish on the plate slide towards me - could’ve been an accident. But just rude nonetheless. Thai restaurants are known for their warmth and incredible service, but this one let them down I think.

Loved it, tasty food with friendly service.

This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend who lives in the area. I booked a table for one as I was visiting the seaside on the day. Booking system is via texts/WhatsApp outside of opening hours (5pm it open on a weekday). The restaurant is right on the small high street so no parking available, however this spot is still a short walk from parking at the New Forest bit. First, I was asked leave as I walked in with my dog and was opting for the take away menu. As we were standing outside the owner popped out from the kitchen and greeted us and welcomed us in whilst choosing from the menu. Following this the waitress came back and offered us to stay in for a meal as that night (Wednesday) wasn't too busy. I sat with my dog by the window far from everyone else closed him in the corner with his treats and little rug. I was happy that I could stay with my dog in the end have a meal. I ended up having 2 starters and a soup as the duck dish I was after they didn't have. The crispy octopus was perfect, and the pork jerky wasn't too bad either. Tom kha was a bit too sweet to my liking, however the prawns were cooked well and had specialty mushrooms in it which was a great twist to the usual. All in all we had a great time after a long day at the beaches with the pup and just delighted that I didn't have to have a take away in plastic tubs in my car in the dark before driving back home.

A hidden gem that serves the best Thai food in the New Forest. The chicken skins were a revelation and absolutely delicious. Highly highly recommended.

Ordered a Takeaway for 2 Vegans and two non vegans! Goodness I don’t know if this restaurant has changed hands or lost their normal chef, but this wasn’t the Anissa food we were used too! Average at best! I hope this is just a blip!

I booked a table here whilst staying in the area for work purposes. Nicely set out restaurant and the staff were great. The food was spot on and very authentic. My dish was nice and spicy as requested. Prices were as expected.A really enjoyable meal.

Well we tried to order a takeaway. We were put on hold. Could hear a conversation in the back ground. When they came back I said hello and the phone was put down on me. We never got the takeaway and went to Brockenhurst instead.

Really fresh and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals 😋. Large portion sizes, so it is easy to over order. The restaurant was 3/4 full on a Wednesday evening whilst nearby venues were empty so it seems that we are not alone in our opinion.
