The Lyndhurst Teahouse in New Forest

We stopped for lunch during a busy summer weekday and had a pleasant lunch and which provided good value for money. Despite being busy the service was efficient and we didn't face too long a wait for our food. There is a good range of food options on the menu with an option to add extras onto some dishes and a good selection of deserts available.

Such a lovely gem in Lyndhurst. Came with my partner for my birthday and from the moment we walked in, greeted with a smile. We were a bit fussy, but they took care of everything. We had an Afternoon Tea for 2. It was delicious. Very fresh tasting, and high quality. Would definitely recommend if anyone is heading to visit Lyndhurst. ♥️

Sat at the outside seating on a sunny day as we were passing through Lyndhurst. Met by a man waiting out the front who showed us to our table. Service was quick and with a smile. Ordered the Angus burger and Tuna Melt. Food was tasty and got no faults. Burger could potentially be of better quality but chips were srar of the show. For the purpose of a quick bite it's enough. Coffee was good also. The service really made the experience here. Potentially a better quality burger would have given a 5th star.

Manly only a 4. Because getting our full English breakfast took quite a long time. When served no one came to ask if our meals were ok. ?? But on the whole was beautiful cooked and presented.

We stopped off for coffee and cake this afternoon. The service was quick and efficient, and the cake was delicious. I accidentally left my hat there, but a staff member came running out to the car park to hand it back to me.

This place seriously needs looking into. The prices are disgusting £24 for two small breakfasts and one diet coke.....

As a coeliac I am always happy when I spot a cafe which has made the effort to stock proper gluten free options and this was a great find - right by the village car park. Loads of GF options available for larger meals, lighter snacks, scones and cakes. I had a gluten free full english breakfast, my wife had a toasted tea cake (not GF btw). Excellent coffee too. Friendly service and at a reasonable price!

It was OK - not what I really expected ... but OK. I ordered a croque monsieur. Maybe I should have read the instructions a little better. It wasn't a sandwich, as i would expect .. but a piece of bread (which I don't think had even been toasted ?) with ham and melted cheese on top. Certainly, not really a croque monsieur ! If the bread had been toasted .... it wasn't (in my opinion) toasted enough. I wouldn't rush back.

sadly no longer would I recommend here. We had a wonderful meal the summer before last, gluten free menu was extensive, food tasted amazing, staff were friendly and cross contamination aware, and I had no hesitation in leaving a good recommendation as the whole atmosphere was great. We were in Lyndhurst again yesterday and went straight to Lyndhurst Tea House. I was slightly worried when there was no longer a gluten free menu - only a mention that they could adapt to anything with gluten free bread. I ordered a gluten free croque monsieur. What arrived was cheese that had been melted onto a slither of thin ham and then placed on gluten free bread ! It was not toasted, it was not fryed, it was not grilled, it was not even a sandwich ! It looked bizarre and in no way represented a croque monsieur. The waitress came over to check we were ok, I explained now and showed her the bread - and to her amaze she said thats not even been toasted ! she offered to replace it, but by this time I was upset and had not trust. As we left, the girl serving just asked for the money and we paid. No comment, no friendly comment, nothing. I had my back to the counter, but my husband was facing the counter and had said our waitress had gone straight away to the other staff and explained the problem with our meal. But no acknowledgment of our problem, or any attempt to mention it to us. I have since been looking at more recent posts and reviews and can see their previous delights of a croque monsieur, which look perfect and appetising, but I now see there have been new owners. Sadly I would therefore no longer recommend this tea house, and I have removed my previous recommendation as I would not like to mislead any one else. I have now learnt to stick with my first instinct - anyone who has taken the time to prepare a separate gluten free menu gives the confidence and knowledge that they understand the risks of cross contamination, and we're not being fussy eaters, we just have a dietary requirement to stay safe and well.

I chose The Lyndhurst Tea Room as I was given a deluxe afternoon tea for 2 with Prosecco and it wasn’t too far to travel. When we arrived our table was waiting for us. Nice and friendly staff as well as the owners being present. The food was very nice, worth every penny with a lovely atmosphere. Was lovely to see an establishment that wasn’t a big chain. After eating the sandwiches and scone, jam and cream we had no room for the piece of cake, so this was boxed up for us to take home. Was a lovely experience 😊

Just a lovely coffee (tea) shop. Staff were welcoming, friendly and really appeared to enjoy their work. Coffee was good and the Dorset Apple cake just superb.

Thought it looked good when I wheeled my disabled wife past. Ended up sitting outside as the young man’s made a half hearted attempt to consider any seating inside. So decided to stay outside even though it looked like it was going to bucket down. Told someone would be with us shortly. Waited and while we waiting table for 4 became available in the window. We were 6 feet away but no attempt to say anything like would you be better off there etc. Then a couple took that table and wee promptly seen by the same guy while we were still twiddling our thumbs outside. Gave them another min then decided the place wasn’t for us. Not what I would call disabled welcome. Perhaps we were too much trouble. Hope they get better.

I went here yesterday with my 2 kids and partner, on arrival we was greeted with miserable faces so immediately didn’t feel very welcome! We sat down and my 1 year old pushed the door slightly and the (manager I think) marched over opened the door back up but didn’t even give one bit of eye contact. I was on edge even if one of the kids made a noise that may have interrupted their day slightly….. cake was not the best and definitely would not return as many other better tea rooms on the same street!

Looked at several restaurants in Lyndhurst, settled on this one based on menu choice and prices. Greeted by a friendly young lady with a smile and given our choice of table. Once at our table we wasn't hurried into making our choices and, when we had decided what we wanted, it arrived within 10 minutes, was hot and delicious. We also liked that the same young lady enquired if everything was OK, sadly not something that happens much these days. The staff, including the manager, all seemed happy and mucked in together. Full up atm but coming back later on for afternoon tea

we had lunch (soup and the croque monsieur followed by millionaires shortbread) all of which were excellent! the staff were all brilliant and service was very quick, we will definitely be returning next time we visit

Excellent stop for coffee and brunch. Try the breakfast muffins with rarebit sauce bacon and egg - delicious. Great service - very attentive and polite. Clean and well kept - I would recommend a visit here if you're in town.
