We went to their teepee for some food and a drink today. Our first impressions what that it was a really cool spot, especially on our doorstep. Then the food arrived. We ordered 3 small pizzas and a side of triple-cooked chips. There is no word other than terrible to describe the quality of the food - chips were raw (never mind triple cooked), and the pizza bases tasted like half cooked cardboard. A coke and a beer cost me the best part of a tenner too - so for a £50, I feel well and truly ripped off. They’ve got the opportunity to do something mega here, it feels like such a waste. Next time I’ll go to the Hollie’s.

Four of us visited on Bank Holiday Monday having heard really good things about the restaurant. We were very disappointed. The toad in the hole was burnt all the way through. How any self respecting professional chef could allow inedible food the leave their kitchen is beyond me. We also ordered the mix grill but the steak we ordered medium rare was overcooked and tough as old boots. It was also missing the egg which arrived separately on a plate swimming in oil. The very small pieces of bream only came with a handful of chips. Service was poor - we were waiting for 10 minutes for our dessert menus while the staff were chatting behind the bar. It certainly didn't justify the £100+ bill.

I visited Dormouse Haven with a friend for the Savoury Afternoon Tea. What a hidden treasure and fabulous experience. The food was delicious and it just kept coming... the decor is unique, the hospitality friendly and attentive; especially by our server Billy. I will most certainly be back.

We have never been to The Hare and Hounds in Crowton before. What a find! A lovely country pub with well looked after cask ales, we decided to have some food, a delicious chilli and cheesy garlic bread, very tasty and reasonably priced. A lovely real fire, relaxed country surroundings, truly a gem! Definitely worth a visit!

We were staying nearby after travelling 4 hours. Went in at 6pm on a Sunday to be told there was no food available 'chef has said No More walk ins', nothing offered at all. Excuse was, 'We've had a busy Bank holiday'.... the one that we all knew was coming for years! What a joke. We actually spent money on drinks too, wished we hadn't. We left and went down to the Riverside Inn, who had plenty of lovely food, despite the bank holiday. Will never go back to the Hazel 'Hungry' Pear.

Very disappointing Crispy calamari soggy and rubbery Salt and pepper ribs lacked garnish, overcooked and rock hard. Tasted of coconut bizarrely Char sui… there was only overcooked chewy meat in the dish. Mushroom side ok Rice ok For £28 this expensive for a take away and is absolutely not good enough. Wish I had ordered on an app and id have my money back Terrible

Had another fabulous 3 night stay for business purposes. Sarah, Mary and Gwyneth were all once again friendly and extremely informative about the hotel. Could not fault them or the hotel in any way. It’s a budget hotel with excellent staff.

We have used Jenrics for years now and the food is generally quite good however tonight we decided to order dinner and once I collected and got home I found the rice was missing. I called them straight up and rather than apologise and offer some form of resolution they said the kitchen hadn’t been given the order and hence it wasn’t prepared. Not very customer focused or helpful. I then had to go out to another local Chinese to purchase rice to go with our meal which was cold by the time we got to eat it. Not happy

We brought six of our grandchildren plus their parents to a Breakfast with Santa on 23rd December. From start to finish the whole experience was excellent. I changed the booking twice to add more numbers and that wasn’t a problem. On the day the activity packs for the kids kept them quiet whilst the breakfasts were prepared. The menu had excellent variety and the food when it arrived was hot and plentiful. I liked that we could order individually rather than have a buffet type option which from experience in previous years and at different locations doesn’t work. Full marks to Santa who was great with the children and the cuddly toy each child received was of a good quality. The rest of the staff were polite and very helpful and efficient. We already have it in our diary for next year.

We had a wonderful visit to the hanging gate for Mothers Day. We were a large party at 13, with four children. One who required a highchair chair. This was no problem at all for the pub. The table was ready including highchair, as soon as we arrived. Our table was situated near to the doors to the garden area. Which is enclosed, so great for children to play. We pre-ordered from the set menu, all the food was delicious! Especially the roast dinners. Would highly recommend! The staff were so friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning soon. Thank you.

Both curries tasted exactly the same. When I told the lad this he made a non-committal noise but after the meal the manager behind the bar came over and explained that they’d run out of one of the “pastes”?! So - they were the same. Would have been better to have been advised beforehand as mine was far too hot for my personal taste. Nice people, nice surroundings, average food, poor communication. By the time you’ve added rice to your dishes, curries are becoming expensive. Let’s face it, we don’t have to add on £3-4 for potatoes and vegetables if we go to a pub. This needs to change.
