Worst chips I've ever had. Soggy, loads of hard bits and tasted foul. Threw them away. The fish was soggy and discoloured too. Again, in the bin! The only thing that was half decent was the curry sauce! It used to be a fantastic chippie but has been going downhill for past couple of years but I kept giving them the doubt. Yesterday was my last visit and last chance. Such a shame.

Genuinely the worst chippy meal we’ve ever tried to eat. The atmosphere when you walk in was relaxed and friendly however the staff member missed an item on our order which is understandable during busy periods but the shop had us two and 1 other customer present. The fish was dry and the batter was soggy and tasting of old oil which as a chef myself I can tell was more than a few days old. The chips were anemic and undercooked and for a chippy you have to get them spot on, the potatoes seemed like they were good quality and the oil in the chip fryer seemed fresh unlike the fish fryer however the issue was with the fry cook and the fat used in the fryer and not the food. Lastly even the curry sauce was just wrong. You can’t call that tub of liquid excrement a sauce of any kind. It tasted like someone had tried to make curry sauce and let it burn on the bottom of the pan before adding thickeners and filler ingredients into it. If you can’t get the main meal or the sides right then the place is not worthy to be running. Just because you’re the only local food establishment that does not give you the right to serve rubbish. Also it might seem like a harsh review but if you have tastebuds and common sense you will know it is not exaggerative. If I was to open a chippy of my own in weaverham you’d be forgotten in a matter of a few days. Your food is disgusting.

On my way back from attempting to review a different chippy for The Chippy Tour, which I discovered had shut down, I was thrilled to come across Theo's by chance. The staff were pleasant and smiling, and the shop was clean, tidy, and had a nice traditional chippy feel. There is parking directly outside and to the rear of the row of shops. The cod was delicious, with a very light batter that allowed the taste of the cod to come through. The staff make it clear that you can ask for a heavier batter if you wish, and chips cooked for longer or shorter. I opted for salt and pepper chips, which were a little too salty for my taste. The halloumi fritter was again in a nice light batter and was delicious. The potato scallops were okay, though just a little too dry for me. The gravy and mushy peas were nice. Overall, a nice chippy with pleasant and helpful staff. Not a very good experience called for fish and chips and a portion of curry sauce the chips were scrappy the batter was burnt on the fish & fish ended up dry because overcooked & the curry sauce was cold & lumpy not impressed we are at Sandiway so not close enough to return

Nice staff and burgers but the chips are really bad keep giving them a chance every few months and always bin them! The chips are inedible will stick to the burgers! everyone in village says same don’t get chips! surly an easy fix tho? X

Updated: waited a long time to see if it improved so as no to be unfair. The pace has gone from being a really good chippy, to quite shockingly bad under the new management. Service is poor. Don't go within 45mins of closing expecting them to cook anything. I won't go into further detail because the place seems to be staffed with kids out of thier depth, so not really thier fault. Fish with practically no batter and soggy under cooked chips, the 2 basics for any chippy to get right.

1st time there absolutely banging food definitely be going back when in the area.

It was my first time going to Theo’s this evening, i was absolutely appalled by the service we received. This particular staff member had zero manners and a vile attitude, she didn’t welcome us in at all, she did not say hello. she then parcelled up our food while i went to get cash out of the cash machine, did not ask us if we wanted salt, vinegar or anything else for that matter. When i then asked if our food had salt on she bluntly said “no because you didn’t say” how ever as she was working on the till its very clearly her job to ask these sorts of questions. it’s a very basic, simple thing to do. Even after this she didn’t offer to put any on for us i had to then ask again for her to do so in which she replied “well I’ll have to take it all out of the bag now”. She was rude and lacked very simple manners and should definitely not be customer facing. As we eventually got to eating our meal it had zero salt on so she failed to do the very simple task we had asked her to do. As someone who has previously worked customer facing in hospitality before this was digraceful. she should be absolutely embarrassed and ashamed at the way she spoke to paying customers this evening. Considering i payed £20 for two small fish and chips i would expect to be greeted with a smile and sent on my way, instead i was left with bland food and a bitter feeling because of this employee, i will not be returning and i wouldn’t encourage other to if im honest

Red Char Sui BBQ sauce is phenomenal. I've had better fish and chips though. Staff are friendly.

GAVE ME FOOD POISONING! Ordered burger and chips, fish cake and scampi and chips- chips were inedible and horrid, scampi barely cooked, fish cake I can only assume was frozen in the middle as it was hard but outer was cooked, and the burger?! Cardboard tasted better than that. Recently moved to the area and thought we’d give the local a try, will never be coming here again avoid at all costs unless you want to be off work with food poisoning!

Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere on walking in as always, but the quality of the food has really dropped in recent months. Three times now I've had issues, leading to this review - the first time, I was missing a portion of peas. I assumed it my fault for not checking, so didn't speak up. The next visit, however, we got home and there was no salt and vinegar on my chips and the peas were missing... Again! My partner had picked these up so I hadn't been there to check. We've just ordered again and this time all the food was there but the sausages were inedible. They were rock hard on one side, as if they'd been left on a hot plate way too long. My dad's pudding was only lukewarm and the peas were cold. This was a celebration dinner for my mum's birthday; what a shame. Theo's used to be the absolute best in the area, but this has really put me off going back now. The chips are still decent, though, albeit expensive.

Good chipie around. Can be busy at times . More hit than miss but on the very odd occasion it can be . Other wise spot on. Curry sauce is to die for

Been back today, and things were a load better, maybe just an off day. Food was good and everyone was happy :) Not sure if being from Wigan has spoiled me here as we have many good chippys, however the barm had mould spots on the bottom, only 1 barm out of the 2 so could just be unlucky there, easily done. But the fish batter was hard and not crispy, either too much of it and overcooked, or left out for a while and the fish was dry. My partner wasnt impressed with hers, and she goes here regular, and said today it wasnt so good, may be just an off day. Id still go back for another try :)

Normally love the place, but why they still sell that Donna meat is beyond me. Maybe the management needs to try a portion themselves. Literally had to throw more than half away as it was harder than the rocks in my garden. A company shouldn't be happy selling this to their customers. It's everytime

Chippy ten deep, ordered food but had no rice, went to pay and cash only. Didn’t have any cash. Old Women with a bad attitude said read the sign on the counter but I couldn’t see it as too many people in front & I was at the end of the shop!!! She should have said before I ordered!!! Waste of time and food, as I won’t be back to pay with cash.

Ordered a donner meat and chips donner meat came crumbled into small pieces and soggy as it’s its steamed and not fresh, tasted horrible, as it was over the top of all the chips they turned to mush, will not be eating food from there again

Came in as the shop was closing. Chips were cold and hard spam fritter was soggy and greasy. Sorry I didn’t read the reviews before hand. Waste of money

What a disappointment of a shop.bought a large fish,chips and curry and what i received was disgusting. You are a joke,taking advantage of people by them not seeing what small portions you put in them papers. Everything was small and we paid £10.50. If i could give it a zero i would. Please don't waste your hard working money with this shop.

Bought 2 cod,1 chips, 1 small curry and 1 small peas. £17. The cod was tiny and the batter was soggy. We would have given 0 stars if we could. We are Weaverham residents and this USED to be an amazing fish and chips shop.. Maybe they are trying to get their money back after covid. I'd recommend you try somewhere else if your looking for quality. r

Very disappointed with Theos tonight..service was great but the fish was only half the amount it was a week ago and the pudding was nearly cold.. we couldn't say anything at the time because until you get them home ( 5 minutes away) you don't know what you have got ...not impressed...come on Theos you are better than that.

Great place for fast takeaway food. You can make your own mind up how good it is, the staff are great no doubt about that. Update. Prices have gone through the roof, if they're charging this kind of money I expect excellence, and in my opinion it's an average chippy. I have and do get better chips for similar prices and cheaper!!!

Had a pie and chips x2 a few weeks ago and it was stone cold! We thought we’d give our trade locally and tried again tonight. At least it was hot but the chips were terrible, gritty as though they hadn’t been washed and soil was cooked with them. Gross, sorry won’t be trying again.

Probably the worst place in the village all the staff do is want to go home at 9 o'clock just slop and slush left

I have had fish and chips from here regularly but tonight’s fish was inedible and the peas had a strange taste to them, I Did call to see what they would say but unfortunately no answered will give them another chance but I will check the fish before it’s wrapped

Absolutely terrible. We ordered and didn't receive a few of the items. Didn't even eat the chips. Rotten to be honest.

I have been coming to Theos for 10 years and it has gone seriously downhill. Tonight (Sat 15th July) the server served someone behind me in the queue before me, asked an elderly lady to wait outside in the rain, gave me a "large" portion of chips which was smaller than what used to be a "medium" and then, once home, the food turned out to be stone cold. Prices have gone up a lot but I wouldn't mind if the food and service were to the old standard. Highly disappointed by what used to be the best in the area.

My dad came in today for fish, chips and peas and gravy and chips. When we got home, opened the chips and gravy to a smell of like off cheese. It's made me feel sick, couldn't eat them thrown straight in the bin. If we lived closer we would of brought them back to the shop for you to smell them yourselves. The smell was enough to make me nearly vomit! These were for my little boy, no chance was I giving them to him to eat. Won't be coming back again

My husband joined a queue at 20.40. He stood patiently as people were served. Finally he got to the front at 20.50, “Sorry, we’re not cooking any more Fish, we close soon!!” Despite shop being opened with a queue going out the door!! Perhaps mentioning that decision to those queuing or others joining a pointless wait in line, might have been useful…

Stayed in the local area for a few days and searched for local chippy and these came up. Recent reviews suggested that this may not be the best place but with lack of time ventured down to Weaverham. The queue was out the door, a good thing I would say...maybe the local fair being on helped. Anyway, queue soon went down as 3 girls were serving. Plenty of smiles and duly ordered. Decided to go for popcorn chicken n chips and what a good decision. A very good portion and extremely tasty, so couldn't fault them.

Delicious scampi, nuggets, chips and amazing curry sauce! Highly recommend. Generous portions and great service!

Just bought fish and chips from here. They were horrible. The fish was long and thin, so very dry and mostly batter. The chips were mostly like crisps, thin and scraps. Won’t be going here again. I spent £7 plus for rubbish, do not recommend going here. I will stick to lucky Pete’s from now on. Even the service was very poor.

Sorry to say I'm disappointed with Theos over the last few months. I've been going here to this Chippy since moving to Northwich in 2001. Theos has been best chippy around but the quality has gone down. The fish are always soggy because they are rushed and gone too small for the price. The chips are OK but have been better. The staff were always top class great bunch of girls but some have left and staff now are not as friendly or welcoming. They make me feel like I'm disturbing them when I go in . Not all of them just a couple which spoils it for me. It's a shame because food has always been good but quality has slipped as I said. Still recommend to see for yourself. Good choice of Menu .

Waited ages to be served and then they served someone who turned up far later than me first. Then I paid £2.50 for this "regular" portion of chips. It didn't even look like a small, their portions used to be so good, very disappointed.

This place is not what it used, sad but true.

Shop is much too small, so at busy times you wait outside in all weather's which is what happened to me on this visit. Food expensive but is just mediocre.

Soggy batter, chewy fish; chips barely cooked and insipid; peas a good consistency but incredibly salty! Cod (the only choice) needs salt to enhance what little flavour even the freshest has; I asked for loads of salt and vinegar! But by contrast to the peas, the fish and chips had little or no salt. I could have added more at home, of course, but the peas were so salty that I simply didn’t want more salt. A simple classic done poorly. I won’t be back, despite the staff being quite friendly.

Tried here 3 times now and it’s probably going to be the last. The food is nice but the fish in the fish and chips is the smallest portion I’ve ever seen. Same all 3 times I’ve been here. Very disappointing. You should change your supplier.

Extremely disappointed, left standing at the counter for ages before order was taken, £4.70 for about 2 scoops of chips and probably the worst, driest pie I've ever had. Some of the staff also were wearing jewellery which is a breach of health & safety when working with food. Won't be going again. Apparently it used to be a great chippy, it's not now

Theo's chippy in weaverham is a lovely chippy that offers just about everything you could think of for a chippy , it has plenty of offers across its menu to suit all tastes and appetites. The shop its self is very clean an things can be cooked frcool order if your prepared to wait . The staff are friendly and really quick at serving. I have had a few things from the menu an have to say I have been very pleased with quality of food and the high professional service highly recommend if you close by and hungry still as good as first post when your good your good no need to change

Great food, chips could have been a bit better but other than that it was great

Tiny battered fish and smaller chip portions which I get new potatoes cost more but they were very greasy too. And fish has not shot up in price so where is the reason for that, it was more like a fillet off a small flat fish than the cod we ordered. They went down hill a few years ago but brought it back up to standard, sadly it not anymore.

Under cooked anaemic looking chips, very soggy when curry sauce over them even when got that in a carton end poured myself. Small portion chips and small curry £3.60, not great value

Chips fresh and tasty, I wouldn't recommend the sausages, but the fish was enjoyed by all of us. Good customer service and I could pay with my card if over £9. Reasonably priced especially for the quality.

Very poor, I arrived at 9.02pm tonight, the door was open and customers inside, the lady manager was very direct and told me they were closed as it had passed 9pm. the other staff looked embarrassed. there was food to sell, which I assume will then go in the bin so you loose a sale. We live local and have been loyal customers for numerous year and will now never return, likewise our friends, we will all go to Cuddington instead. Perhaps a learning curve for your customer service. Perhaps close the door when you are closed. Also, I do not offer a single star rating, your website will not let me post this unless I click a star. Like I say very poor - In fact rubbish. R

Rude staff, arguing with customer over order when they they put in computer till incorrectly then as we left he shouted just wasted his time! Clearly he has no customer service skills!

The cod is really good, big flakes of fish, covered in a really tasty batter, probably the best I have ever had.

Local fish and chip shop but I usually go to the seafarers in Northwich. So I thought I'd give Theo's a try. Always busy but service is pretty quick. Usual range of food available. The fish and chips are very good, even after a 10 minute drive home. So if you're looking for a decent fish supper, give Theo's a try!

terrible chips they had been reheated, steak and pepper pie had to chuck in the bin it was hard and dried up. the chips also went in the bin could not eat dried up reheated chips. Theos was a good chippy but now its gone downhill what a shame, wont be going back

Really good chippy, food was really nice but compared to other chippy's maybe a bit too expensive compared to other chippy's i've been.Hence only 3 stars, on the other hand you pay for quality of food. So its upto the individual. Overall really good. 8/10 . 👍👍

It is with some regret that I write a less than positive review, as I have been a regular and loyal customer of Theos for over 30 years. It's not one star, purely out of sentiment, but the 'meal' sold to me tonight was not warranting even, one star. For the last year, or so, Theos Fish and Chips have been patchy from average to very good; and I have varied my time coming to the shop to try and hit the sweet spot in freshness. I gave up at evening opening time because the chips seemed old and reheated, this evening was near peak time, 5.45pm; and whilst the fish was okay, as a whole, the meal was barely edible - this is from a Gannet speaking, who can eat most things. I ate most of it, to really avoid embarassment at returning the food, but binned the rest. The staff at Theo's are lovely; and I'd give the staff five stars really, but they can only serve what is cooked; and after this evening, I will not return to Theo's. The price has gone up yet again to £6.70; and if it was fantastic I'd wear it, but it was awful, I mean, really awful. I have started to travel further distance and go to the Central Chippy in Rudheath, which was recommended to me by a garage I use over there. Phoning ahead means order ready on arrival as it is only cooked to order and presented in a box with Lemon and Tartare sauce, big portion, freshly cooked; and £1.75 change from going to Theo's. I have no connection to Central Chippy at all, other than liking Fish and Chips all my life; and other great Chippies are available, but Theo's has gone down hill over a period; and tonight hit such a low, I cannot consider returning. So, it is with regret I write this poor review, I didn't go to Theos tonight as my last visit, or to even consider not returning, nor even write a review, but it has got so poor, over a prolonged period, something needs to change - sadly, I won't be there to see it.

16:30 friday, prime time for fish and chips, unfortunately not at Theo's. Staff were very frendly and polite but our fish and chips ended up in the bin, we arrived home having driven from only a mile away they were freezing cold and unedable. The Codfather in Lostock Gralam next time.

It's ab-fab. Fantastic! It's a fnc shop , the staff work very well.

I like that tastes. Next thing is bad it so hard to eat the chicken nuggets but I'm bit disappointed with the food.
