The staff where amazing the food was nice and the chef was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I would come again the bar attendant was amazing they where really nice. I would recxomend you to go

After many enquiries about this pub reopening in relation to serving food, my wife and I hearing it was back open, and on checking the website, we were very pleased to see the Hare and Houds in Crowton Cheshire back open and serving food. We were fairly regular customers for some time so were very pleased after so long away and so much uncertainty to try for a late lunch today 24 August, only when we got there to realise we had made a completely wasted journey, because a sign outside said no food being served fo the foreseeable future confirmed by the staff inside. What an utter unprofessional way to treat customers, both past and prospective in allowing the website to make us believe the pub is serving food again. Many times in the past we have tried to make a booking only to be ignored, but we percivered because we like the place and the food, at the time. Up until the recent closure we were so disappointed by the treatment we suffered when trying to book, and calling in off the cuff when passing, only to be turned away when the place was mostly empty. After twice being turned away under those circumstances then, that was enough is enough for us, and stopped going. Today was our umpteenth time of trying again since reopening, what an absolute shambles the Hare and Houds is now, compared with past reputation. Do not go

This is an authentic English pub… Just has the right feel the moment you walk through the door. The landlord is very helpful and welcoming…. It was our first visit today and we will be back Beer was kept well and pulled to perfection…we had two different meals and both were really good. Give it a try it will not disappoint.

Avoid, terrible slow service 1 hour wait in empty pub, food average but the chips yuk horrible small frozen rubbish NOT chunky as stated on menu, certainly our last visit.

Disgusted by the staff in here. After queuing for 45 minutes to get some drinks we proceeded outside. The duck race was on and as newcomers we were unsure where to buy the ducks. Advised to buy them at the bar. We went back to the bar to ask to be told "get in the queue and buy some drinks whilst you're at it" Well we left. Two families with upset grandchildren. Clearly profit before people. Disgusting when meant to be a charitable event.

Awesome atmosphere, great service and the bar maids were great fun. I sat outside with friends and even though I was in the smoking area it wasn't that bad. Everyone was on good form and in great humour.

We tried the Christmas menu this week and we’re not disappointed. We both chose different things for all 3 courses, and each one was delicious. The service is always great and the staff are super friendly.

I like this pub and have been there to eat before. We expected an excellent Sunday lunch but sadly the meals were quite poor. The beef was not pink as billed specifically on the menu and a watery gravy was added like a soup making the Yorkshire pudding soggy - goodness knows if it was stuffing. I told the bar staff that the meal was disappointing to get "oh" and no other response. The beer is good, but there is a lot of competition out there and we'll go elsewhere.

Attended on a Wednesday afternoon and it was extremely quiet, felt like we had our own private pub to ourselves! It was great!! Met by a lovely and very attentive gentleman who took our drinks, opened up a tab and let us sit where we wanted, he came over took our food choices and we ordered a sharing platter, well it was amazing! Plentiful and delightful. We struggled to eat it all but it was lovely! He asked if we would like a bit of time before our mains came out, which to me was great as you don’t want a main straight after! So appreciated this brief break. We also ordered the fish and chips and again it was plentiful and cooked well and ordered the chicken Ballantine this was delicious, fresh and flavoursome. Overall this was a perfect impromptu meal out and if I lived local I would 110% return! Highly recommend Thank you!!

What an amazing club sandwich - all ingredients freshly cooked. Giant chips on the side! Sitting in the sun by the babbling brook. What’s not to love?

Have visited the Hare and Hounds twice and been very pleased, hence a visit today, Sunday 8th May. We ordered the Sunday lunch which was nothing like as good as the previous meals we had had. The roast potatoes were not fully cooked and the yorkshire pudding was soft and soggy. When the waitress asked us about our meal we told her of the above but she seemed to think that the potatoes were ok ! Perhaps she hadn't tried to eat them.

Visited for lunch, friendly and helpful service, along with an array of tasty food and drinks . Will visit again in the future.

Fantastic pub run by Ross and the gang welcomes locals and non locals alike come and see for yourself great beer and good selection of wine at good prices and food is always delicious. Lovely fires when it's cold outside you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely love this place the food is fantastic the service the atmosphere and the ambience are out of this world if you want to sit by an open fire on a cold winters night with a glass of wine in your hand in a friendly atmosphere this is the Place to be Andrew who left the previous comment has never step foot in this establishment He was part of a group of protesters that didn’t like what was going on you cannot blame the pub for the tradition that has been going on for years If people want to go and spend their money while this was going on they’re not going to turn them away with the current climate the way it is every penny counts

Such a shame because this had always been a good place when I lived close by. We was served cold food and flat beer at extortionate prices. Plenty of better choices in the area.

We visited today for a Sunday lunch and were not disappointed! The pub is so cosy, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely. We will definitely be back very soon!

We’re staying in a little cottage up the road. Decided to go for a quick walk & lunch not expecting much but it was honestly amazing. Can’t fault it from the second we walked in. Really friendly welcome and we had 2 dogs with us....

Went to eat here last Sunday afternoon.. the service was great and the food was excellent! Special mention to the girl who had only just started but was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make sure the guests were satisfied!

Went for dinner with my boyfriend last week. We sat outside under the marquee, which was beautiful! Such a good idea. The food and drink were good, the staff were efficient as a whole, however the service was a bit slow but I understand this could be due to alterations cos of Covid-19.

The Hare and Hounds is definitely open for business! It’s under new management and you’ll get a warm reception and tasty food.

well what can i say apart from the food was fantastic called in after a walk round delamere forest ordered lunch beef roast it was amazing hot to the table no long wait staff were polite and chatty wish we had room for dessert totaly satisfied and will be calling again would recommend to all cant wait for our next visit dogs are welcomed as well

We called in at the Hare and Hounds for a late lunch after visiting the Anderton Boat Lift and what a good choice it was. We were all made very welcome in this dog friendly establishment and enjoyed a refreshing pint of draught Pravha. The food was good and is all home made and cooked to order like the Steak pie I had and the missus`s Haddock and Chips. The service was good and it was very reasonable. The Hare and Hounds serves good homely pub grub and It is a good stop off with a good car park if you are in the area.

Thursday night my partner and visested and had pizza. Amazing and great value. Handmade base and great topping couldn't ask for better. Fantastic service. Be coming again soon

5 of us came for lunch on Sunday and the service and food were both great. We had starters and mains...no room for a dessert which was a shame. The menu gets better and better with daily specials too.

What a lovely place we stumbled across. The pub looked inviting from the outside so we parked up and went for lunch. On arrival we were agknowledged straight away and made to feel welcome. The food arrived in good time, looked and tasted beautiful. Great pub food great service. Soon to be returning with friends. Thankyou

Visited twice within last 10 days.Food was good on both occasions and plates cleared!! The waitresses were both delightful and helpful.My only criticism would involve the Ladies toilet.On both occasions the toilet roll wasn’t in the holder, meaning it was handled by everyone...On the second occasion, it was on the floor, with no alternative!I would have thought, a public toilet has enclosed holders, to ensure hygiene standards are maintained...I’m hoping next time, I can give H&H 5 stars.

We went to the pub last night for a few drinks and noticed that they were advertising take away food. We were tempted as we eat at the pub and know the quality is excellent. I had the fish and chips and my husband had a meat feast pizza. All home made, very generous portions, and restaurant quality so absolutely delicious. Lovely touch that the packaging is recyclable. We are very lucky to have this pub as our local and we will be back for more. Sorry no photos, just ate it all up without thinking about that!

6 of us went to the Hare and Hounds for Saturday lunch. We all had a variety of meals, all of which were excellent as was the service. We will be returning and would recommend.

We visited this pub recently, as it had been in difficulty some time ago. We thought we'd have a meal in there at lunchtime. The meal was ok, the atmosphere could have been a lot friendlier. A fire lit on the dismal day would have cheered the place up.

I had the pizza with the free glass of wine, both of which were lovely and well presented. The staff were hospitable and friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit to this establishment.

Went for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. Absolutly awful, avoid at all costs. Potatoes were hard, beef was full of fat, coliflower undercooked and hard. Yorkshire pudding was disgusting. All food was lukewarm. Pub was so cold we had to keep our coats on, toilets were dirty. Defiantly some tension between Landlady/Landlord which made people feel awkward. Certainly will not be going back!!

Me and my hubby came here on Saturday night I had fish chips & mushy peas and coleslaw and he had steak & ale pie (he said it’s the best one he has ever had it was delicious) I would certainly recommend this place the food is lovely and the staff are great to

My first visit to this establishment and it won’t be the last!. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by friendly bar staff. Very pleasant decor offering a modern on trend feel yet relaxing and cosy.

Been meaning to come to eat for a while as we drop in for a drink quite a bit. Beer is always fantastic and having now eaten here the food is just as brilliant. Great atmosphere. The land lady and and landlord are very attentive and charming and is a proper country pub. Certainly one for anyone near or far it’s worth a visit.

We hadn't been to the Hare and Hounds for a while, what a pleasant evening. We arrived at 7.30 for 8, it was quite busy, a nice atmosphere and we were greeted by attentive staff, the Landlord being very witty.

great meal-I had rump steak which was perfect, my friend had sausages with horseradish mash, she said that was just right. The waiter was polite ,welcoming and attentive.

Only popped in for a quick drink as we were in the area, we saw a few Sunday lunches being served and thought why not?

Thought we’d try the new menu and we weren’t disappointed. It was all very nice and cooked well. Just think the owners need to practise being ‘mine host’ a bit more. People need a warm welcome and a bit of chat to make it an all round experience.

After hearing this place was serving food again, I decided to give it a try; I was not disappointed. I chose a sirloin steak (med rare) and that is how it came. Well presented and hot too and so tender! The country pub atmosphere was nice and a fire place ready for the cooler months. There is a choice of 3 or 4 'real ales', served by pleasant, polite staff who give the impression that nothing is too much trouble.

We tried out the new menu which has just been launched, it is much more comprehensive than the previous menu, so we had concerns that the previous high quality might have dipped. We were delighted to find that our meals were absolutely lovely, so we look forward to trying other meals over the coming weeks. Service is excellent and as friendly as ever, highly recommended.

This pub which by the way is in CROWTON, which is 20-30 mins from Northwich, serves the best home cooked food in the area. Helena and Mark provide warm and welcoming surroundings. The menu is home cooked with ingredients locally sourced.

yesterday i saccompanied my friend to the Hsre and Hounds to see how the recent refurbishments have gone. the improved restaurant and table ordering service by very pleasant friendly staff made the evening very enjoyable. this coupled with the venue's unique features make an imminent return likely.

My husband and I were child free for a couple of hours so decided to pop back to the hare and hounds . The service was good. I had the vegetarian chilli and my husband had kebab. They were both delicious. We will be back with the kids.

Called in for lunch with friends a few days ago.It's a nice, comfortable pub, good beer and excellent service. Two of us had the steak pie, which was really good, packed with plenty of good meat. Very nice real chips came with both meals

We used to visit regularly years ago for lunch on a Saturday but ceased visiting as the food quality gradually diminished.

What a little beauty of a pub! Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Food is gorgeous and just felt very comfortable throughout our visit. Great chilled atmosphere with attentive and courteous staff. Well worth the visit.

We moved to the area 18 months ago and have since been travelling around eating at different venues. Happy to say this is one of the good ones. Excellent polite service, good tasty food, we are both vegetarians and the chilli beans dish was very nice and my partner had the pasta dish which she is usually very fussy about and said it was cooked perfectly and home made. Pale ale was spot on and the wine was a generous portion. Mark the owner took time out to chat with us and we left feeling full, money well spent and comfortable surrounds. Will be back again.

My friends and I ate Sunday lunch here a couple of weeks ago, fantastic home cooking and good portions of lovely fresh vegetables. Can’t be faulted. The service was excellent too.

I visited my local pub to enjoy a drink after work Our intentions was to dine there as well We went to the bar to purchase a drink and asked for a tab to be opened and was told we had to leave the card behind the bar!!! I questioned this and was told that this was the new policy I have never felt so annoyed and distressed, I felt that I couldn't be trusted to pay the bill The landlord told me that it was new policy as people had left without paying the bill Why assume that everyone is the same I am a regular at the pub and feel extremely annoyed to be treated in this way I have eaten in far superior establishments and have not been treated like this I work in finance and am trusted to deal in large amounts of money yet I can't get a tab in my local pub !!!!!!

How nice to have a local real pub that is welcoming, provides good beer, excellent food and friendly service. Cannot wait to bring our Australian friends !

We have been coming to this pub for 8 years, and during this time we have seen 3 different sets of owners and a temporary manager. The refurbishment about 2 years ago is still looking fresh and the pub is cosy, clean and tidy. The current team is doing a great job and I hope they stay for many years to come. The menu offers good choice and everything we have tried has been very tasty. Great choice of drinks too.

Helena & Mark deserve every success in their new venture. We received a very warm welcome, with a good selection of beers and excellent menu. The Black Pudding Scotch Egg starter is my favourite, along with the homemade Steak & Ale Pie and Chunky Chips.

We went as a group to join in with the Wednesday night Quizz. Lovely venue that seems to be very popular. Nicely decorated and really friendly atmosphere. Great staff and good selection of drinks. We will definitely be back. I’ve heard the food is good too.

Food was nice with a warm friendly welcome . Service was prompt . Vegetales were well prepared especially the cauliflower cheese.

The pub has been closed for sometime, so the new guys have had to almost start from scratch and quite recently. We found the atmosphere welcoming and warm. It caters for families as well as foot weary walkers with dogs! Serves a great pint of proper local beer - Weetwood - and has a good, selection of decent food. Also, it was nice to see an appreciation for the local community. All in all, we'd recommend and will be visiting again soon.

Was told this was a pub to visit for a family meal, yet sadly it turned out to be a nightmare. I normally do not write a poor review rather liking to support good businesses but this time it was sadly poor. Food took a long time and was far from hot, potions were small. Prices were higher than could be justified.

Metimos en viernes a mediodía para comer algo rápido. Pedimos el Curry, la hamburguesa de pollo, dulce y amarga y una chaqueta de patatas. Todo llegó rápidamente, caliente y sabrosa. Gran relación calidad-precio por 30 libras. A pesar de otras críticas, servicio del chico joven detrás del bar era bueno.

Planeamos nuestro día a incluir el almuerzo en este pub que nos recomendaron. Un maleducado y poco servicial camarera nos informó de que la cocina estaba a punto de cerrar. Fue 2. 15 Un sábado por la tarde se dice claramente que en los tablones de anuncio y página web en la que se sirve comida hasta las 2. 30:00 h. No es el caso.

Went here for a pub lunch at 2:15, and was told light bites only as kitchen was closing, it clearly said food served till 2:30, sadly we were not able to try the food, went elsewhere.possibly change the times to 2pm to avoid turning people away.

Cada vez que visite este pub/restaurante nunca estoy decepcionado. Hoy mi amigo y yo tuvimos una ensalada con patatas fritas, sándwiches y nos sentamos. Fue todo muy sabroso en un ambiente relajado y un entorno encantador. £10 para el almuerzo con bebidas incluidas. Mi 4ª visita y volveré!

Cuatro de nosotros fuimos para un almuerzo familiar hoy aquí y la comida era excelente, fresca mezcla de vegetales y con un servicio amable. Agradable y pequeño pub y me alegra ver que está abierto de nuevo sobre una base regular diaria. El único inconveniente era que nos informaron de que cinco platos no estaban disponibles en el menú, es bastante inusual y la primera vez para nosotros.
