I have visited this pub many times, it is fab for families as it has an outside area with climbing frame for the kids, which I feel i find most pubs that have a child's area serve poor food. The food here is excellent. iv never had a bad meal and would highly recommend the pie. it's made fresh on order! At weekends, they have a singer on which hearing a live singer while you eat is the best kind of vibe!! It's a country pub feel where you can dress casually for me heels, jeans and a nice top 😊 also the beer garden is suppurb plenty of tables and always in the sun, if you have your children they are in eye site in the kids area from any table!

Visited for a birthday party. Menu is quite limited so ended up with fish n chips again, however quite disappointed that my main came out 10 minutes after the rest of the party except 1 other which was late and think they forgot about mine ebbed though o was sat there waiting all the time everybody else was eating. The fish n chips was good though and a fair price for a large at £16.50. Would I go back?? The menu is just too limited and think they need a few more mains and starters to entice me back in.

Booked a table in advance for 5, 3 kids.. very uncomfortable in there, the staff are rushy and push drinks on you from the minute you sit down . got there sat down and to be told an adult and a child had to take there hats off or couldn’t eat there, so we walked out.. bit daft considering they we’re quite empty and there’s plenty nice pubs about the area

My name is majery and I took my friends out for light lunch. Good food, good company , what's not to like ! Our server Inaara was absolutely outstanding , she helped up with everything and I am very thankful.

I had a truly exquisite time at this fine, bougie establishment. The food was delectable, like being touched by a culinary god. The service was quick, efficient and a true joy to watch in all it’s fluid glory, particular mention to Lexi, who made me feel like the nobility of old, I would give her 10 out of 5 if that wasn’t a statistical impossibility.

This was a return to a place I had not eaten at for six years, due to an unpleasant experience. This visit proved to be the complete opposite. Positives Food, excellent presentation, great flavours, and beautifully cooked. Ambience, very good, very busy place, full of families and couples enjoying a great Sunday lunch. Negatives Staff, don't think there were enough, Service, hit and miss, next table to us who arrived after us, was served first. Which was a surprise. Drinks and food took a while to arrive. Generally more positives than negatives and I will come back

Went for Sunday lunch and the food was outstanding, best Sunday lunch we have had in a restaurant for a long time ! The roast and the fish & chips were excellent and I believe the home made steak + ale pie was out of this world! Staff were very friendly and efficient despite it being so busy. Pre booked a week in advance as we had been before and it was always brilliant. Needed to change our booking time short notice and they were able to do this for us no problem. We were still waiting on people to turn up and again we were told this wasnt a problem which put us at ease as the place was really busy. The service from the young staff was fantastic, always with a smile and were regularly over to check everything was ok. We were seated in a nice heated marquee, with some live music in the background that created a lovely mood. The food was great and the portions were big, no one went home hungry. There were 12 of us so plenty of different dishes and they all went down well, including the biggest fish ive ever seen on one persons fish and chips order. The kids food was top quality too, not just basic food you can make at home. Its great to have such a wonderful place nearby, ticks every box. Thank you to everyone involved

What a great pub. Arrived 15 minutes early, were welcomed and immediately taken to our choice of a table for four. The meals were excellent, as was the service. I recommend the steak and ale pie - l have never had such a large amount of beautiful lean beef in a pie! Another had the fish pie and thought it excellent, as were the fish (enormous) and chips and the cheese pasties. And the prices were very reasonable. The service was excellent, lots of staff and the manager should should be complimented on her skills. Would thoroughly recommend The Fax and Hounds.

The fox and hounds has never failed to impress.. we had the valentines sharing meal, Tapas starter, chateaubriand fillet steak with bernaise sauce and for PUD a selection of tarts with cream... everything was to a high standard.. The staff were lovely, very friendly and attentive without being over the top 😀 Also had live music in the background that was just at the right volume 👍

We had the best night in the marquee area of The Fox and Hounds in Sproston last night. We partook of the Valentines Day special three course dinner… A sharing tapas platter, chateaubriand with sides and Béarnaise sauce. All topped off with a sharing chocolate fondue. Every single morsel was delicious and all for a mere £70 per couple!!! The staff were very pleasant and attentive. We were entertained by a very talented guitar playing singer very subtly so we he had no trouble chatting to each other. Was so impressed that I have asked my children to take me back there for Mother’s Day !!!

We visited today for Sunday lunch. We all agreed the food was absolutely delicious, no complaints at all. However, there was a live singer, who we were sat right next to. It was far too loud and as a party of 9 we found it difficult to hold any meaningful conversation, with it impossible to hear from one end of the table to the other. It didn’t seem an appropriate time to have this live music, Sunday lunch is meant to be family time, this family couldn’t interact! Sadly a very disappointing visit.

We throughly enjoyed our evening both of our meals were very good our veg was a little cold. However, this did not spoil our evening. The staff offered us fresh vegetables. The act was brilliant. Our service was very good but we ate early at 7pm.

Booked the night before for a pre-event dinner. Not a good start when the front of house is too busy texting in her phone!! Ordered food and drink promptly - pre-informed waiting time for pies was met. Steak and Guinness pie, plus Fish Pie were tasty and plentiful. There were a lot of staff, but no real leadership in evidence - ourselves and few other tables often struggled to gain the staff attention to pay bill, etc. Will definitely be back as this is one of the best eateries in the area.

Great food again and great service

Food service very slow,meals were not very hot. Staff did not ask if any sauces were required,when I asked for sauces they took too long,my food was going cold whilst waiting. Ordered dessert,and this again was very slow to come. I would not return here for Sunday lunch again and will not recommend to friends/family. I worked in hotel & catering for many years and know my stuff, more Staff training needed and faster service!

We visited this pub before on a recommendation and loved it so much came for my birthday, sunday lunch. Food was amazing though I would have liked my gravy on the side. We were in a better table this time and were able to enjoy the atmosphere of the pub. We will be back if that there is no doubt. Thank you team

Don't be fooled by it's normal appearance from the road. What awaits you within is a terrifically warm atmosphere with great food, brilliant service and a really professional singer on a Sunday lunchtime which just served to add to the ambiance. 5 🌟

Visited Friday 22 December with a friend for lunch. We both had salmon off the main menu and it was delicious. Desserts also delicious and generous portions. Food, service and atmosphere all excellent. Highly recommended.

I went to the fox and hounds last weekend for the Christmas fayre menu with my parents and daughter. The atmosphere was amazing and the restaurant was full. The staff were so attentive, smiley, friendly. The service was outstanding! I had the salmon gravlax to start, it did exactly what a starter should do- tickled my tastebuds and made me super excited for my main. It was absolutely delicious! I had turkey for my main meal, it was so moist and there was plenty of it. The roasties were incredible, crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. The veg was cooked to perfection. The whole meal amd experience was outstanding and I have told everyone I've spoken to since about how fabulous it was! Well done team fox and hounds! I will definitely be coming back!!!

Such a lovely place but today was dreadful, half hour wait for drinks , gravalx was stunning , main course another hour wait & turned up cold & beef was so mashed & soggy ! To be fair staff were great & we only had to pay for our wine as beef wasn’t edible & they packaged a desert to take home, typical Christmas week being over run , but will go back

Very slow service, lots of staff but all didn’t seem to be doing anything. Waited an 1 hour for our main course (roast dinner) and when it did arrive it was all cold, the roast chicken was just a chicken breast and had no stuffing...

We have visited Fox & Hounds on 3 previous occasions so we booked again for a family “Christmas get together” We had a lovely afternoon meal in the Fox & Hounds. The waitress Maisie was so lovely, explained that we could mix and match the Christmas menu with the standard menu, which we thought was great. She was so friendly and you could tell she loves her job, a credit to the pub. The starters and main were amazing. My husband mentioned he loved mince pies and Maisie brought him a freebie mince pie, such a lovely touch. My only negative would be the sticky toffee pudding, there was a lack of “sticky & toffee” and just seemed to be a very dry cake. Apart from that, we had a lovely day, made even better by the lovely service from Maisie. Thank you to all the lovely attentive and friendly staff, we will definitely be back

Went to the pub for a meal last night. The meal was awful the coffee I ordered was cold. Drinks were not served at the correct price. The manager did not seem to care with managing our complaints. Cold no heating on. Very poor and shall not be going again or advising anyone to go there.

The pub was very busy when we arrived at our booked time. Considering how busy the place was, the food was served in a reasonable time. All the meals were excellent and there was a wide variety of menu offers to match our party's needs. Service was good (but sometime we needed to ask for forgotten items - small matter). My biggest issue was the noise, I just found the experience too audibly overwhelming .. tables were full of people shouting at each other (not in an angry way) and I could barely hear what was being said by people next to me. Perhaps Friday nights need to be avoided on my part!

This is a really lovely pub. Our first time and we will definitely be back. Most charming young lady greeted us and made us feel welcome. The decor is very tasteful and seating comfortable. Plenty of parking space and well manicured gardens.

Went for the miss winehouse and me tribute night. Food and entertainment were both excellent.

Ordered off the 2/3 course lunch menu...after a 45 minute wait the starters were nowhere to be seen but the mains turned up. The server went to then fetch the starters after we said that we would have the mains if they were to be sat under the warmer.. unfortunately that was the case. We sent them back. 5 mins later 2 more mains appeared. Again these were obviously not fresh and 1 was cold in the middle. Being told they were fleshly made.
