I visit once a month for a meeting and sometimes eat supper. The team is always friendly and helpful, the food is generally good.

The Steak & Ale pie was fantastic. We were served by Claire who was friendly, attentive and an all around nice person. She recommended us the Brownie for dessert and it was delicious. Will 100% be visiting again. Thankyou Claire and the rest of the team.

Went with a group of eight ladies at lunch time.Food lovely.Chips were the best I've ever eaten! £12 lunch menu included a drink! ( alcoholic or non alcoholic).Very slow service as only ONE person serving and same girl manning yhe bar as well.She did apologise.

Excellent food, venison and steak pie to die for, good selection of desserts,great staff and nice decor. Another visit today 15th August 2024. We both had the sea bass with rissoto rice. It was very good,great taste,well presented.

Just had dinner with my son and the whole experience was brilliant. The food was full of flavour and salad dressing was a highlight.

Food very nice. However had to wait very long time ( nearly an hour) for main course then another half hour for desserts . We rang ahead two days in advance to book as there were 7 of us for Sunday lunch . When we got there they’d lost our booking so had to squeeze us in the boot room down steps not good for my mums poor mobility as she has a walking aid. We were squashed on a too small a table and when we asked to be moved we were told there was no where else as they were busy. Very very disappointed as my son and I had travelled a long way to be with family for lunch and it was meant to be a special time for us.

Beautiful pub, service was excellent and the food was incredible. Four of us had food, steak n ale pie, rump steak and 2 smaller dishes fish and chips and gammon couldn't fault it, look forward to next visit. Staff even offered to help move elderly dad into his wheelchair.

A treat out during GCSEs. Family of four, tacos, mushrooms and 2 halloumi to start. All really good. 2 chicken burgers, a cheese burger and a BLT. BLT ordered based on it not being streaky bacon. Burgers all turn up, no BLT. Turns our Ticket machine isn't working so that bit of the order has not gone through. Okay fair.enough. So BLT arrives (after everybody else has nearly finished) and it's streaky bacon. Shouldn't be taking orders if they can't manage without the Ticket machine. Left without food. Bill was £103.

Don't cater at all for coeliac ( gluten free) very disappointing

Set in a quiet village, this pub serves good food at reasonable prices. Wide selection of drinks available. As we visited during the week for lunch it was quite quiet, but I think it will be much busier in the evening with live music and other events advertised. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

Clean and warm. Good food and service. I only wish they had a larger vegan menu.

Lovely pub with food, darts and a sunny beer garden. My only criticism is it was quite expensive £24 for 3 x cokes and 3 x chips, but otherwise absolutely lovely!

Amazing Sunday roast; it’s been a while since we were last here but we will be back soon. The portion size was good, making it great value for money and the quality of the ingredients is top notch. Fresh, flavoursome and all served in a lovely atmosphere dining room by pleasant, helpful staff. 10/10, excellent.

Friendly staff & the food was amazing. We had the Mother’s Day set menu at £30 a head. Starters, ham hock terrine, king prawn cocktail & garlic mushrooms all arrived well presented & were throughly enjoyed by all 3 of us. We all had one of the Sunday roasts & we paid extra for a portion of pigs & blankets & cauliflower cheese. Again, all our meals were great. The Yorkshire puddings were huge & the gravy, thick & meaty. The puddings also went down a treat. Couldn’t fault our visit & can’t wait to go back & sample the everyday menu.

We tried to eat here last Sunday and arrived at 7.53 only to be turned away and told they stop serving food at 8. What time would we have to have arrived in order to be able to eat? Well, they turned down £50 income so never mind. So we tried again this evening and I booked a table for 7.30 only to be told they'd have to check if that was ok with the kitchen (even though they stop serving food at 8!) When we arrived it was practically empty but it might as well have been hectic because we felt invisible. We were seated but then listened to the staff discussing shifts and other members of the team and it was an effort to get any attention. Even though the place was empty we just felt ignored and it was quite a depressing experience. To top it all when we paid they'd doubled up on the drinks! We had to tell them we'd only had one each. Unfortunately the whole experience was SO disappointing. The food was ok but the schnitzel wasn't a true schnitzel (it was two small breasts covered in crumbs) We felt like we were interrupting the staff's duties of shifting tables past ours and setting other tables ready for the non existent customers 😞 It's a shame but we won't be going back to this place.

A lovely place with lovely staff.

As we had dogs we were in the Tap Room which was very comfortable but sadly the locals were not so friendly when I tried to engage. However we enjoyed a drink and the bar lady was particularly friendly as was a man at the bar, when refilling our glasses. The interior looked most welcoming and the restaurant looked very inviting.

Lunch was excellent. Had the piri piri wrap which was wrapped in naan and was excellent. Chips were lovely. Wife had steak sandwich which was also very nice. Steak was cooked perfect as asked

It's a good restaurant because the food is excellent and decidedly top notch. The staff, thin on the ground but manage very well are extraordinary dedicated. Our only distraction is the allowance for dogs. I love dogs because they they are oft' more intelligent...

We called in to have a pint and check out the menus for an upcoming family meal. We called in at a quiet time, but the staff were friendly and the "snug" was lively. Clean, well kept pub and had a vibe of being a nice place if it were busier. Looking FWD to calling in for a Sunday roast soon

5/5 ‘Wandering Wednesday’ too both Neil and I on a mini road trip to Acton Bridge, to a lovely little pub called ‘Hazel Pear’…. All the food was truly beautiful…. You could tell everything was ‘Homemade’, piping hot and all flavours from each dish was faultless and bursting with flavours, there was a good varied menu and we were spoilt for choice on what to have! You could get ‘Bar snacks’, which are taster dishes…. We had this to share to start, with smalller 4 dishes of: *Crispy King prawns with garnish and tandoori mayonnaise. *Chicken wings in a sticky Asian sauce and garnish *Panko-coated Halloumi sticks with sweet chilli sauce and garnish *Southern fried chicken strips with garlic mayonnaise and garnish. All the coatings on each dish was homemade, fresh and crispy…so nice Entrée’s Neil had Steak and Ale pie, creamy mash, peas and rich creamy gravy….. Neil said the pie had thick chunks of steak that just melted when eaten. I couldn’t make my mind up so I had mix of different delights….. *peri peri in soft tacos with crisp slaw, this was a starter dish but then I added side dishes of: *sweet potato fries *Pot of ketchup *Crispy onion rings *Caesar, dressed green leaf salad…. The food was really, really gorgeous…. We will definitely be returning, the pub was spotless, loads of little snug areas inside and busy for 1:30 on a Wednesday, which is a good sign of great food….. and they were right!!! Our empty plates spoke for themselves!!….It’s a little cracker of a place….. We’ll be returning in the very near future…10/10 The young lady named Faye who was our waitress was extremely polite, full of smiles, courteous and very professional, also massive complements to the Chef (sorry I didn’t ask of their name) who prepared our lunches…. This is a lovely country pub. The food and the staff are amazing, Very reasonable prices. You must try the mixed grill. definitely a perfect restaurant to take your wif, girlfriend or family. Very good cocktails. This really is a must to visit. (and you know I don't say this very often) :)

Booked a family of 4 (2 kids) plus our dog for a festive meal. Loved the experience from beginning to end. Drinks/food arrived quickly and the staff were lovely too. A really nice atmosphere inside and the team there make you feel very welcome. Lots of choice on the food menu, selections of draught beers, wines and spirits. There’s a log burner centrally placed to keep to place cozy and some rooms off the main area, if you wanted a more private setting. Have visited a few times throughout the year and always had a good experience. A good pub, well managed with a friendly atmosphere. Can’t beat that these days.

We were out with family this evening we pre ordered a couple of days ago. When we arrived asked about drinks. which came quite quick. The only problem was from the lady asking were we ready for our meals it took along time to be served. And our afters were even longer. The staff were lovely but I dont think they would cope if the pub was full for meals.

Fantastic food but such disappointing service. Went for Sunday lunch as we know how good the food is. Quick to order but then absolutely nothing from the staff for the rest of the time! 2 girls behind the bar and one was busy doing her hair in the mirror and the other drinking a can of Red Bull. Food was delivered and no one asked if we wanted sauces or anything. We had to ask for horseradish and apple sauce etc. We had empty glasses for a long time whilst waiting for someone to take pudding orders. No one came as the 3 girls were now chatting at the bar to eachother. Eventually we had to go and ask for someone to take our pudding orders! Customer service needs some work!

Lovely warm atmosphere, polite service, nice tasty food. The dog being welcome is a must for us too.

We came here last Tuesday as we were passing to go to Warrington. The young lady explained it was a very busy day and there might be a slight wait on the food. We weren't in a rush as we sat by a lovely fire ,(log burner) our food came out in less 20 minutes. I ordered fish and chips which was amazing and Dan had a mixed grill cooked to perfection but was missing a free range egg which he didn't mind. We will definitely come back if were passing. 5 stars for this hidden gem

This has long been our local but we have been very disappointed with our visits over the last couple of years. Gave it another chance today after hearing the management had changed and we couldn’t have been more impressed. The staff were friendly and efficient and the menu had completely changed. Much more choice and far better value than previous offerings from this establishment. The food (chicken tikka) arrived quickly, was a good portion size and was very tasty. We did not have a dessert this time but were pleased to see a good selection of quality ice-creams on the menu instead of the usual strawberry/chocolate/vanilla - offered by so many other so-called restaurants. We will certainly be returning regularly in future.

Called in this afternoon for a late lunch and was welcomed by Matthew who was extremely polite and helpful from the minute we walked in to the minute we walked out. The meal was absolutely delicious, hot and fresh. I'd highly recommend the Hazel Pear and we will definitely return

Pub is decorated very nicely but my chair was very stained so I asked for a serviette to sit on. The food was ok and hot. Waiter was pleasant enough. My issue was really that you couldn’t buy any smaller portions of anything (not even fish and chips) as we were told they don’t do that anymore. So much food was wasted and at cost so we wouldn’t visit here again I’m afraid.

Fantastic afternoon/evening for a family reunion, food was amazing and the staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for them. Carl the landlord is a brilliant host. Will be back.

Just held a family reunion in the function room at the Hazel Pear. What a fabulous place. Carl and his team went above and beyond in every way. After a lovely walk we had an amazing lunch! I have allergies and asked about the menu, the staff were incredibly informative and made a custom dish for me. Speedy service and lovely food - highly recommend!

Lovely evening meal of fish and chips plus dessert - Elton Mess. Meal was cooked to perfection! Lovely atmosphere - really enjoyed the evening.

Lunch for three on my first visit to this hotel . Meals were mostly very good and the service was first class. The only criticism I have is that the chips with my scampi must have come from the bottom of the bag because I had a lot of chatty little bits of chips. They were a bit stingy with the mushy peas to as there was only about a spoonful. Did serve a lot of scampi though.

We tried 3 local pubs during our stay at a nearby B&B. This was our favourite. Nice pint of Timothy Taylors Boltmaker. Friendly staff. Light bites/bar snacks good value, well presented and tasty. Nice beer garden at the rear, with a large sheltered area under a canopy.

We've used this venue, off and on for ten years, during which time it has changed hands four or five times (if memory serves) to find that, today 09.07.23, it has the best of the bunch yet, managing it. Their website is quite clearly annotated with the menu and the corresponding prices; therefore, no misunderstandings...? My good lady and I celebrated our joint birthdays with our usual aperitif, excellent fare and a more-than-palatable wine. She followed up with a cherry sundae – ‘to die for’? As habitual complainers, the only complaint we had was that we had nothing about which to complain. The whole experience was a joy; not least of which included the excellent service from the staff including the kitchen personnel. To top it off: The restaurant has its own resident guard dog, a bedroom slipper with teeth - photo attached.

I revisited the Hazel Pear at Acton Bridge. The people and the welcome was excellent. This pub is little gem. It is close to Acton Bridge railway station with frequent trains to Runcorn. Liverpool Lime Street and Crewe.

We came to The Hazel Pear Saturday 17th June to celebrate a family birthday. We had a brilliant time! There was a lovely singer on during the evening, which was fantastic. We were spoilt for choice with the menu (especially as there were 2 vegetarians...

Stopped by on the off-chance late on a Sunday afternoon and had a vegetarian Sunday Roast. Fabulous food, beautifully cooked and service with a smile. Helped to turn around what until that point had been a bad day. Can't wait to eat there again.
