Blue Cap in Cheshire West and Chester

I had a wonderful meal at The Blue Cap, particularly the steak, which was cooked to perfection. The cozy atmosphere and attentive staff made for a great dining experience. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love the Blue Cap! We go almost every week and still can’t get enough. The food is amazing - the burger is the best burger I’ve ever had and everything else on the menu is delicious too. The staff are super friendly and always happy to help, thanks Harry and Ella for looking after us every Saturday!

Had a lovely breakfast there last week, food was amazing and the waitress told me of all the changes made to the kitchen and menus recently that seem to be working …. and the ladies who served me were very very helpful …. Excellent all round. Served by Emma who was the consummate host. Nothing was too much trouble and was very chatty and pleasant. The food itself to mix, grills, garlic, bread, and belly pork we're all cooked to perfection, so no complaints whatsoever.

Superb Sunday Dinner …..came with the wife , I had the traditional turkey and my wife had pork, the food was quite excellent, the meat was cooked to perfection the vegetables delicious and we ordered the sides (cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets) which topped the meal off to perfection. Harry, Emma and Sammy looked after us all afternoon and we had to thank the chefs Chris , Simon and Charlotte as it was the best Sunday dinner we have enjoyed in a long long time

The menu offers more imaginative food than is usually found in pubs. It was well cooked and well presented. The service from Emily was efficient and friendly.

I have rated food, service & atmosphere as 5 stars. However I could only give 3 stars overall as I can't see how you can charge £7-40 for a regular Coke -definitely a rip off. This will definitely affect my thoughts on returnig

Been in here a few times for food and drinks,called in today Saturday afternoon for a quick drink,stood at the bar for almost 10 minutes in an almost empty pub,no bar staff appeared 😳 used the loo and my wife did as well still no bar staff,decided to leave as not what you expect when you call in for a drink 🤦‍♂️

Used for breakfast with Premier Inn. Many buffet items missing. Quite expensive for what was on offer for continental breakfast.

Absolutely loved Blue Cap, from the first pint, to the last crumb, nothing could have gone better. Staff who are pleasant and jovial to entrees, mains and sweets that tantalise the taste buds, the experience was enjoyed by all of us... well except the bill payer " me".... 😂

A lovely meal here on Sunday - food was delicious and the service was great. Jake and Harry went over and above and recommended fantastic dishes (especially desserts!) Will definitely be back!

I came with a friend for a meal, I had the Salmon my friend had the streak median rare. The meal took a bit longer than I had waited, but wel, worth waiting for. It was delicious. I used to go to the Blue Cap in 1976. When Mr Cook and his wife had it. It was a great pub back then, but now it's amazing and I wil. Be back. The staff can not do enough to accommodate customers , warm and friendly. We were on our way to The White Barn in Cuddington but the car park was full and we could not park, so you were the next option, your car park was a little full., but your over all services was excellent. We will be back. Bye Bye White Barn !

Just been for a fabulous visit, the staff could not do enough for our table. From activities for my little one, to jugs of water for the table. Food was fantastic and I was spoiled for choice from the menu. All in all a really amazing visit. Not sure of new lady managers name but she was fantastic. We will definitely be back again soon.

Nice pub full of character we had breakfast there for 2 mornings it was ok convientent because we stayed in the hotel next door. Most of the staff were really nice and helpful, on our 2nd day the lady brought out a small jug of (oat milk) milk for my grandson who is dairy intolerant, she'd remembered from the previous day. One if the other servers was a bit rude she brought the breakfast out told us it was fried eggs we quiered it and she said well they may be poached put one plate down and dumped the other in front of my (13 year old) stepdaughter with the comment and attitude this must be yours. Very rude lady

Hi visited the pub with 2 friends who haven’t been before Knew it would be good food as usual Surprised it was as quiet as it was but it was all good and food exceeds expectations taste wise !

The food and service was brilliant, the actual building is looking tired.

Superb meal here, Sunday beef on the bone, wow! Didn't expect what I got, but boy was it nice, superb, well done guy's, we will be back.

Sunday Lunch. Really happy with the place. Classic modernised but old coaching Inn. Full of charm. Very welcoming friendly staff. The slow roasted rib of beef was tender and delicious, but the veg was under cooked and too al-dented for my taste. The roast potatoes were disappointing as they had been kept warm and somewhat dried out. The salted caramel sundae was delicious. My companion had the trio of Eton Mess, roll poly and trifle (substituted ice cream for trifle), which looked equally delicious. Overall...I would return.

Dog friendly pub with delicious food, family friendly, absolutely love this place. I ordered the rosemary chicken burger which was delicious, the kids meals are very reasonably priced, mine had the pizza which they all enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Can't complain! reasonably priced, food was nice, especially the chicken starter Korean BBQ chicken strips partner would love this as a main, staff friendly, went on a Sunday and didn't have the roast but still plenty on the menu and the roasts did look good too!

We did valentines night 4 of us as our friend and partner came. Food was amazing had a problem with cherry bread and butter pudding was sorted straight away even though was ate until realised. Stunning pub staff lovely thank you for a lovely evening.

It was not nice at all the turkey was like water it was horrible I will not be going going back and the beef was that hard you can’t not chew it

Still a fantastic place. The staff were great and very friendly we felt very welcome here. The food was still as expected for a chef and brewer. Good selection of drinks. Very highly recommended. Aslo good to see the blue cap dog still has a home but now inside the pub.

We went on Sunday. The pub was freezing. The lunch was terrible. The meat really fatty, the roast potatoes was cooked in old oil,the veg was just thrown on the plate. I think it needs a revamp and updating 🤔

3 out of our meals we're great however the Mushroom Bourgignon Wellington no little to no filling which was incredibly disappointing. Pub was very quiet yet a couple was placed right next to us and in a very quiet pub it was overbearing. If the pub had been busy it would not have impacted but felt very overheard.

Emma was fantastic, incredibly welcoming and friendly. Service with a smile! Thank you it was just what we needed after our travels. Cheesy garlic bread and halloumi fries were great as a starter… the ribeye steak was really delicious. Good portions for the price!

Went for a meal for my sons 40th. Have to say we all really enjoyed it. There was plenty on your plate and 10 options on the main course childrens menu and all reasonably priced.

1st time visiting the blue cap and I can't recommend it highly enough the food was superb and the staff were excellent especially Emma& Harry who looked after our table absolutely great job. Will definitely visit again.

Very good fish and chips, there were a lot of people eating midweek. Worth a visit for the fish and chips, looking around the restaurant the other meals looked good but we have not sampled any yet.

I asked for and paid just under £10 for a Sunday morning breakfast, I told them I was gluten free and was assure it was fine, turns out I couldn't have sausages, hash browns or black pudding ! The bread that came with it was absolutely awful too, once cooled twisted and as I tried to butter it it snapped in half, I do wish chefs asked which was the best bread because their choice certainly isn't. Altho I did have bacon and it was thick cut it was very fatty I spent ages cutting it all off ! I had bubble and squeak it was totally tasteless. The table next to mine had a full plate of everything and had paid thd exact same as I had which u thought very unfair

Always a pleasant welcome at theBlue Cap which is my local. Good selection of real ales & food usually good but last nights mixed grill was exceptional - best ever! Good portion of meats perfectly cooked & succulent plus nice crisp but fluffy chips. Well done!

1st time here and I will not return the staff were rude and standoffish especially the young lad with the long hair tied up and the food was appalling asked for a medium steak and it came rare not bairly cooked at all I would avoid at all costs

Overall very average. Not all of our order came on time, we had to chase up the missing veg order, I think they had forgotten. The drinks service was pretty prompt however the table clearing was very poor. We didn't get offered any deserts 🤔

Food and place are normally fantastic. Disappointed on last visit, female behind the bar just complained about being on her own to everyone who would listen. Did really care about us. More interested in complaining to regulars. I wasn't told that the no longer except cash until I went to pay after eating lunch, really awkward as only had cash 😳

A disgraceful place, don't take cash ! And don't reply with nonsense saying it's signed off in wrong name, it certainly is not !

Great place to eat and drink. I particularly recommend the wild boar bangers and mash. Although they're a special I hope they're regularly rotated in. The blue cap has a great atmosphere and the staff are friendly and attentive without being pushy which is a difficult line to navigate. A fantastic alcohol and non alcohol selection too. Well worth a visit.

We enjoyed a lovely lunchtime meal at The Blue Cap recently. It was quiet and we could have our choice of table . All staff were friendly, helpful and super polite. They were efficient and quick to serve drinks, take orders and bring food. It's hard to judge prices as some people prefer a larger/smaller portion. We were hungry and celebrating, so although the sea bass fillets and scallops were lovely they were tiny and each scallop portion numbered 2. There was a gorgeous pea, mint and courgette risotto, but we also shared chips, as risotto formed the bed for the two tiny sea bass fillet, so was small in portion. It would normally be fine, but it was a celebration. £17.29 for this main course it was good value. Soft drinks are something else in this day and age £4+ for a coke and you have to eke it out for the length of the meal. The special dessert was lovely, but overly sweet for me...personal preference . Would we eat at The Blue Cap again? Yes....and that's the measure of a good venue for us.
