Green Oak Farm in Cheshire West and Chester

Dined here a few times now, can get very busy at times, overall food is good and staff are friendly.

I ordered from this carvery a few weeks ago, and it was enjoyed so much, that I made an order today. I ordered 3 kids carveries, and I was really disappointed with this order. One meal contained 15 parsnips and loads of carrots, one meal had 4 parsnips, but overloaded with broccoli, and one meal had no potato, but all the meals had beef and turkey, which was overcooked and dried up, and wasn't really edible, even soaked in the gravy.

Visited around 4pm Saturday, ordered food via the app. Halloumi fries were overcooked and dry. Our drinks didn't arrive until after the starter had been finished. A lovely lady brought our meals and drinks over to us, and apologised for the long wait which was due to a lack of staff. Our mains arrived, my bean burger was practically burnt and so dried out it crumbled, could hardly get the knife through it. I don't like complaining and didn't want to send it back as we were heading to Wrexham for a show, so didn't have time. I made the most of it but it was probably the worst burger I have ever eaten. The only redeeming aspect of the experience was the lovely server who was very attentive. Will not be returning and won't be recommending the place to anybody else.

Green oaks is nice pud to eat in the food is similar to hungry horses. Food was good a d staff were ok 👍

Ok , so since changing company the food at breakfast has gone down hill rapidly, gave it a second chance today I can honestly say I will not be returning again.

Very helpful, got me a table at short notice. Generous with the meat at the carvery. Great value for money. Thats why it is busy.

A lovely place to go to for a meal. There is plenty of choices to choose from the menu. The staff are so nice and friendly and there is plenty of car parking available.

food is brilliant all you can eat breakfast staff need to be bit more helpful 5 people stood waiting to give tickets in for plates there was 3 staff members stood chatting while we were waiting then left 1 lady filling up breakfast food by her self had to ask for bread apart from that it's good

Very poor standard of service carvery dry and hard, meat if you are lucky to get any always none left and if you book in advance a table they always say you are not booked in though you have booked in advance tried repeatedly this place as it's local but after last night no more it's a miss from now on .

Kids had a lovely time in the play area and the staff were nice. Thank you to Harvey.

Just been tonight for a family meal and the service and food was absolutely fantastic would highly recommend 👌

We always come here for breakfast when visiting family. The customer service is great, really friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was lovely, as always. High quality food and for £7.49 you can eat as much as you want! We will be back

Good food & prices. Slightly let down as soap dispensers in men's toilets not working at the beginning of my meal, I let staff know and when I went again at the end of the meal they both were still were not working. Children's play area looking a little tired. Staff very friendly.

We often come here for food and the staff are always friendly and happy to help! Michael and Jen were warm and welcoming as always and the food was to a high standard! Looking forward to our next visit! Thank you team!

carvery was OK but the breakfast isn't all that not for me

Another nice chilled afternoon here. Always made to feel welcome by staff members. Steven, Jen and Michael were on today and they were pleasant, polite and helpful, as they always are.

Must have been a team member or two down that night. Service was slow and sparse to the extent we put all our plates from our 4 tables onto the next after that party had left. I wanted rump but was told there was none (at 6:00pm) so I had to upgrade to sirloin at my expense. And that (med to well) sirloin was tough and chewy. Rest of the plate was ok 👍 Visiting from Australia and was the second time there this month. Very disappointing 😞 on this occasion

Lovely staff and place but wow so stingy with the meat. I may only be tiny but one slice of turkey! We will not be eating there again, one piece is ridiculous.

The food was alright but the service was by far one of the best as Michael, was really friendly and helped with anything we needed. His charisma is unmatched and highly suggest coming.

Terrible service no one to greet you 2 staff behind the bar waited ages for food when we asked were it was its just being cooked was the answer ,30 seconds later we get food cold unappealing presentation terrible (obviouslybeen sat on the side).Manager apologised got some free deserts which was nice of him.Afraid will not be going back!

Michael (the manager?) was very welcoming and gave friendly service. The food was good value for money. Only slight downside is queue but that’s expected if you go on a Sunday - wasn’t necessary to book a table but would recommend for slightly bigger groups

From the start of our visit- to the very end- Kirsty was extremely warm and welcoming. Food was excellent, very tasty and enjoyed by all 😊 Would highly recommend to my friends and family. Thanks again Kirsty - for an enjoyable meal and great atmosphere. (And for the empty tub- for our travel sick child on our continued journey to the ice cream farm. It was very much appreciated ❤️)

3/5 for breakfast, it's nice to choose your own and have as much as you want but the food quality could be better. For the same money the breakfast at Chocks Away in Broughton is far better and freshly cooked.

Went in with my mates, had the English breakfast. It was fab! . Micheal was exceptional with his service and always did a couple of check backs.

We are regular customers for breakfast. There is always plenty on offer, but it's the staff that stand out for me, always welcoming and friendly and really helpful. That's why we keep coming back.

Horrendous. Waited 15 minutes for someone to cut the meat and then another 30 minutes for gravy, which came out like pudding. Don't waste your money.

Yorkshire puddings 5 days old ,cold rock hard , turkey still pink so un edible ,beef cold and very tough ,malibu and coke flat , person behind carvery with dirty rag , no clean cutlery , knives still had food stains on them , Obviously landlord is struggling financially so purchased cheap basic food from Booker and forgot to order any gas canni as ters , ie so gave food zero stars as made us both sick , Staff have no basic food handling training

Called in there sunday 29.12.24 .thought they couldn't get worse ,how wrong can you be , YORKSHIRE PUDDINGS MUST HAVE BEEN 4 DAYS OLD ,STONE COLD ,STALE ,PIGS IN BLANKETS COLD NOT EVE WARM , COKE ABSOLUTE FLAT , NO CLEAN CUTLERY , THEN HAVE TO PAY FOR STAFF TIPS WHICH IS ILLEGAL, OBVIOUSLY THE WORST PU B OUT Don't waste money here there is better option opp Cheshire oaks and cheaper

Pleasant welcome to begin with and told we had the table for 2 hours. Once seated we received our starters, we were slightly dissapointed as the soup looked like it had come out of a tin. We were asked how our food was which okay. We then had our main carvery Christmas dinner. Again we were asked how our food was whilst a mouth half full yet again! As soon as we finished our main, we were asked if we would like dessert. We replied we would like 5 minutes to let our food settle. No more than a minute later another waiter asked if he could please serve our dessert, again we replied no we would like five minutes. 30 seconda later for a third time we were then asked to either box up our dessert to take home or take the dessert now as another customer was waiting for our table. We hadn't even been at the table for 45minutes! After a discussion which became heated we reluctantly accepted our dessert just to be away from the restaurant. We barely finished our dessert as we were absolutely stuffed. Overall not an enjoyable experience we will not be spending Christmas dinner at the venue again!

All good nice breakfast for the price and good selection. The tea and coffee option was so bad in quality that I can only advise to avoid. Dish water coffee and chicken soup tea is the only way to describe it . Good service

Boxing day birthday. Staff went the extra mile to help make it a great day. Couldn't fault anything at all.

Very busy on both Christmas Eve with Santa and Boxing Day but overall a good experience family wise. About ten of us visiting in total and a 500 spend. Took the pressure off cooking and cleaning a home. Staff run off their feet but still festive and welcoming. Thanks to the staff. We will possibly do Christmas Day next year as proven now to do a good job.

Very polite and helpful staff, food was very well presented and the playarea for the children is a must have in any dining facility.

We ordered online for collection and was taken care of by a lovely lady called Paula, despite the busy conditions Paula was happy to help us and topped up the cranberry so that we could take a little pot home ( I had the apple sauce 😜) her lovely warm smile and service made us feel very welcome and looked after. It’s these little things that make us come back again and again. Thank you!.

Went to the green oak today and the men's toilets are a disgrace. All urinals are blocked and 1 of the toilets full of toilet paper. How can the manager let it happen and not have it sorted.

Ordered food online for around six, when food arrived it was someone else's order from one o'clock, tried to call to let them know and received no response

The food was great very big the only problem is it took 30 minutes for the pudding

Brilliant, Food was delicious, even the sprouts. Desserts OMG! 🤯 You could feed a family with one serving! Well worth the money. Staff really pleasant and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Food was nice. Good choices and a good portion of meat. Only complaint was drinks were expensive

Had the carvery and a special mention to the waiter called Murat who looked after us along with the other staff members who were all so very kind and welcome, service with a smile all the way through. Will definitely come again their cakes are to kill for. See you soon.

My experiance with Murat was nothing short of exceptional. Excellent singing voice coupled a fantastic work ethic makes him a valuble member of staff for the Green Oak Farm. Highly recomend - Rest of the team were pretty good too.

Michael was telling us about the quiz night on a Monday and how good it was. Food was really good.

We were greeted at the door by an extremely welcoming host. The selection of food was brilliant because my husband isn't a fan of carvery and was able to order from a good choice of meals. The service was fast, and nothing was too much trouble. I had a carvery and can highly recommend 👌 them. The meat melted in your mouth, and I am really fussy. We didn't have room for a dessert, but they looked incredible. We will definitely be back for a regular visit.

Three adults enjoyed a delicious carvery lunch here today. Staff very helpful and cheerful, food fresh and tasty. Variety of vegetables and meats was amazing, and the desserts huge! Will definitely be returning here, the sooner the better!

Went for my birthday had the mix grill it was the worse one I have had I will never get that again the carvery is nice I will say that better of on a sunday

This place let it self down. Roast potatoes were hard could not eat. The fries over done do hard. The cheese pie was un eatable

Food is good for the price. Kids play area is handy and always clean. There can be long queues at the till but overall good experience for the money.

Mike the assistant manager couldn’t be more welcoming and warm, lovely customer service and has a great sense of humour, he is an absolute credit to the pub… also the young girl Ellie was super lovely. Fantastic place! Can’t wait to visit again :) x

Not great, served a warm beer, when I asked for cold one the waitress said they didn't have any. Food wasn't great either, probably won't be going there again. Let's hope this review assist the management team to turn the place around.
