Had Sunday lunch . Fantastic food and fantastic staff.

I regularly call in to the Piper for a drink in a Friday, but this was a lunchtime treat with friends planning a Sunday lunch. What a great meal. Alan, Emma and the team are great. So accommodating and helpful. The food that we all selected was of great quality, served piping hot and very timely as we were a big (30+) party. Thanks so much for all your efforts.

A large group of us (30) came for Sunday roast, this is the second time we have come as a big group, we returned because we knew we would be very welcome, we knew Alan (the landlord) and his team would do all they could to make us happy, we knew they would take food preferences and allergies VERY seriously. Nothing is too much trouble and we are always met with kindness and consideration. We pre-order which roast we would like as there are so many ofus, it all arrives piping hot on hot plates, THANK YOU!!!

We popped in here to meet some family. Had a great lunch. They were really helpful to accommodate us with wheelchair access and dietary allergies. It was midweek lunchtime so it wasn’t very busy but we had a great time. Thanks

We went on Wednesday night , 4 adults over 60 We all had the 2 courses for 12.99 and it was exceptionally good Great portion sizes and fantastic food We had the prawns and the mushrooms starters Steak and hunters chicken for mains ( side of onion rings ) I cannot recommend it enough for value for money and quality

Called in 1st time in about 5 years. Pub was lovely and warm and staff welcoming and efficient. My husband had chicken tikka masala. Which he said was lovely and tasty. I had fish, chips and mushy peas. Frozen chips were tasteless. I enjoyed the peas though they weren't homemade they were tinned. The fish was awful. It wasn't cod or haddock. The batter was nice and crisp, but no matter how much salt and vinegar I put on there was no taste. I didn't eat it. My husband did though, because no matter how nice the curry was it was the meanest small portion I have ever encountered. The meal with 2 pints of beer came to about £36. Lovely warm welcoming pub, but need to sort the food out. I wouldn't pay for the food again.

I was really impressed with the non gluten ingredient range! The owner of the pub was really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Great range of drinks on offer. This was our first visit and we came specially for the non gluten range having seen an article about it. We came from Wrexham and will definitely be back! Thank you!

Came here today to complete some work... Alan (landlord) was very welcoming and accommodated my visit early morning even though the pub doesn't open till 12. Top bloke .... I Really appreciate the extra mile you've gone to for me today...👍 The piper is lovely and clean and really comfortable with multiple big screen TV's showing sporting events... Pool, darts and electric charging points Great family local with amazing food reviews.

Just had Christmas dinner there it was excellent. Would definitely recommend it for next year. As soon as we can book we will. For the price you will not find better. The owner and staff were so humble, they should be proud the service was excellent food was delicious. Thank you Ian and Nay .

Amazing coeliac friendly gluten free menu. Owner/manager of the pub has several family members who have coeliac so they have made a massive effort with their menu and they are really helpful and friendly when it comes to helping you choose your gluten free, coeliac friendly food. Staff went out of their way to get food to us quvk before out event booking after other places wait being too long so we kept leaving and looking for another one. Staff were super friendly we will be returning 😊

Called in at The Piper as a recommendation from our hotel on a Monday evening, the restaurant was trimmed up beautifully for Christmas and had a great welcoming atmosphere. We had a two course meal at £12.99 each, great value king prawns to start with then the 6oz steak with peppercorn sauce served with chips onion rings peas and grilled tomato. Had a drink with our meal then a coffee. Great service from a lovely young blonde lady who even lent us a charger to charge our phone. Cannot fault the meal at all great value, great service and a lovely atmosphere, plenty of parking.

So we were staying in Chester, I had to find somewhere to eat, this place popped up on Google for being known for a gluten free menu asy partner is gluten free.... It was fairly obvious they accommodated for gluten free to the point they had a separate menu. When we arrived there, we entered down a built up area and immediately thought we might of made a mistake, but oh how looks could be deceiving. This establishment, just wow, we were pointed to a table on the stage, the TV had bad reception, the area where we sat, there was an unopened Amazon package on one table, some handheld tools on another and we thought, what were we getting in to. However, the girl on the bar, she was polite and very welcoming, so we took the table given, then placed our order. Now I can't even begin to explain the next hour, with my partner being gluten free she was a little hesitant on what she ordered, but, on an opposite table, the chef came out and spoke to a woman who was pregnant and singled out what dressing she could have and avoid due to being pregnant. Then our food arrived... Dear God, I cannot begin to know what to put. But the food here... Quite easily the best I've had, I've eaten in some places and this place, just wow. The food was absolutely exquisite. Now I drove 3 hours to this place, I would go again, even 3 hours just for the food. The starters were amazing, I had chicken wings, they were the best I've tasted in a long time,y partner had chicken dirty fries, the server when she dropped off the starters explained that both dishes were gluten free, so we were both able to experience both dishes. After that I had a burger, which I thought would be an every day burger dish, n oh my, what a burger. My partner had a gluten free burger and she was as just blown away. So to sum up, the food... Just amazing, the staff, super super polite and really welcoming, if I could eat there every week I would of it wasn't for the distance. The reason I go to Chester is a yearly thing, I will be going again next year and years to come. If you live near and haven't been. Go. Don't hesitate, just go. It's delicious, welcoming and well worth every penny.

We had a great afternoon of food, drinks and games of pool, Nathan was very friendly sorting out our drinks, he made some great cocktails. He also sorted out a taxi for us when the bus didn't turn up, thanks 👍

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Plates cleared by all, including the children's. Everything came well presented. Quick with service. The gluten free menu: good selection to choose from - the fish and chips was amazing. Lovely light batter!! The manager was brilliant at talking everything through with me. As a coeliac I felt confident with eating there.

I found myself and partner again in Cheshire for a family event. We arrived late evening and saw a pub with a car park, it also had a car electric charging area which I have not seen before in local pubs. The pub is in Hoole Chester , and from walking in the front door it was a great experience. I am used to gastro pubs and other public houses all over London and Surrey I found this pub beats any other establishment hands down The welcome from staff was great amd very friendly, it made you feel that your choosing to eat at The Piper was the fulfilment of the operators dreams. I was taken care of by bar staff from my first interaction with them. I ordered food for two, my partner chose Hunters Chicken , and I had a Bacon Burger, I have to say it was timely, hot and amazing food, the best Burger I have enjoyed since a very expensive trip to Culloden house, where an award winning Chef, handmade me a Burger. I was told the Piper was recently under new managment, and had been remodelled. They have clearly spared no expense when making the changes and upgrading the facilities. If your local, or even passing through the area, you will be pleasently surprised by the amazing establishment. Treat yourself amd family, there is also live music at weekends. Support this buisness if you wish to keep the local area alive, for good food beer and entertainment. UPDATE: We again sought out the piper on a rainy October Wednesday in Oct 2024, at 1pm. The pup still there and as warn and welcoming as before, the young barman was amazing, he was friendly and acted like concierge! Told us warmest place to sit and dry off from the rain. There are new owners now but i can say the food was perfect as was the service. I would expect to pay twice as much in London for the great food we were served. This is a blessing for the community, they have local open Mic nights and Quiz nights which are a staple of any community cohesion, to build a society and people to meet at. We are new to the piper, lived around the area for years and was surprised when visiting, very good atmosphere, excellent alcohol and the food was great, the staff are friendly and so are the landlords. We have booked for Christmas day and after talking with the landlord who has a great sense of humour, we are so looking forward to it we are bringing my mother so I recommend that everyone should try the piper. If you go on Facebook, you will see all the activities they do and the different charities they have on weekends for raising money well played. The landlords have only been there from early this year, but what an impact. It is so refreshing to see a local pub building relationships with the community. We will be visiting regularly. 1st impressions last! This is the 1st time we have frequented this establishment. Our son dines here often with his partner and their children. A warm welcome was had by myself and my wife, including our 2 chihuahuas dave and poppy, while waiting for our son and grandchildren to arrive. We we're seated at table 22 and could not ask for a better service even if we tried. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left, we felt so at home and at ease by the staff. Especially these four amazing ladies, Emma, Tailula, Elayna and Yasmine. You 4 made a lasting impression on us for your warmth and helpfulness, and your smiles brought joy to our day. The food was superb and plentiful. The beers we're ice cold and the friendliness of the staff was warm and heartfelt ♥️. An amazing place to dine, drink and socialise. Came today for the Alzheimer’s charity day , what a great day for everyone, singer Hannah was fab , had the pub singing & dancing , morris dancers brought memories back from my childhood watching them with my parents , all in all it was a great afternoon , didn’t stay for the evening bingo but hope Emma & Alan raise lots of money for a well deserved charity , 👍

Couldn't have asked for a better place to dine when gluten intolerant. New owners have not only done the pub up but also the menu and the gluten free options are outstanding. They have family who are coeliac so are very knowledgeable and always whiling to add new ideas to the menu. Food was to die for, really enjoyed my day.

We visited The Piper for a family meal out on a Wednesday evening, having heard about their gluten free menu. We received a friendly welcome and from then on the service was excellent. A good choice of meals with 3 of us opting for the £12.99 for 2 courses menu and 1 choosing from the gluten free menu. All of the food was delicious, cooked well and nicely presented. We didn’t feel rushed but we were not kept waiting either. We will definitely be visiting The Piper again!

We went here for my mum's birthday as they have a decent gluten free menu (although only 2 dessert options). Our waiter/bartender was Nathan, he was lovely, friendly and did his job well & with a smile.He also brought mum's gluten free meal out first so it wouldn't get confused with other meals which we appreciated. The chef that day was Colin and he did a great job with the food, it was all amazing, I had the Mediterranean linguine which was delicious, the pesto especially was great. The others got fish & chips and my god the fish was huge! The batter on the gluten free fish was nice & crispy which is rare, usually it's soft/mushy at other places so mum was happy about that. All in all it was a wonderful meal(starters & a main), in a nice place with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The place was clean too, including the bathroom.

Had an excellent fish and chips!! Really tasty! Service little bit slow but I think they just need more staff on the bar … having said that the barmaid was very good it was just busy when we arrived. Would definitely go again! Highly recommend. However hate frozen chips if they done real chips would be amazing!

Both me and my wife have just returned to our hotel after a very satisfying meal at the Piper. We took one look at the limited expensive hotel menu and looked for somewhere close and found the piper. The staff were very accommodating and polite; the food was piping hot,tasty and generous portions. Will definitely return when back in the area.

Stopped by after a post regarding a change in their menu and new gluten free options being offered. Was pleasantly surprised and had a nice meal. The manager(?) came over later and spoke about the care they have taken in the preparation. It's nice to go somewhere and feel cared for and will definitely come again. Bouncy castle was also nice to see.

We came here as a big group for my son’s birthday. The staff were really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much to ask and they were well prepared beforehand. When we arrived everything was so well organised for such a big group. The food was lovely and incredibly reasonably priced!

Well cooked hot food. The rump steak well cooked and surprisingly tender. Thought the burger & chicken burger well presented too. Good service. Only slight criticism, we were sat by a television that was extremely loud so struggled to talk to each other. As not busy we should have moved tables. We would definitely return.

Had a fantastic meal at the Piper today, the landlord was very polite & friendly! I had gammon egg chips & it was delicious! My daughter was just as impressed with her scampi & chips! Definitely, will be back for food again at some point!

They’ve had new management and they have 5 celiacs in the family so they’re very clued up! They’ve only just started their Gluten Free menu and are open for suggestions, I went this afternoon and although i didn’t have the roast dinner, i heard they do GF yorkies and gravy so asked for it on the side and without any hesitation they said that was okay. (the sunday roast is all gf too, they don’t just removed the items that contain gluten, we get to have it all!!!!) I had the fish & chips and it was so tasty and crispy and the chips were amazing too! I react really quickly once i’ve had gluten and absolutely nothing but a fully tummy! It was a really refreshing experience compared to the most i’ve had in the past, it’ll definitely be a regular for me now. Couldn’t recommend it enough for celiacs in the area!

My Daughter took me to the Piper for the first time. It was quite extraordinary. The Manager was on duty and never stopped the whole time. He works very hard. All the staff there were never still for a minute. They appear to be a great team. Our meals were swiftly served and not a thing out of place. Delicious and hot and exactly as ordered. Great job The Piper 👌

Went for dinner on the new menu, We both enjoyed our meals, Service was good and the young girls working were friendly , The new managers seem to be doing a good job , atmosphere was good, very friendly pub , Outside the pub had been cleaned up and was looking clean & tidy , Will return again to try the Sunday roast which I believe is the best around,

Just wanted to write to say a big thank you to the two gents working on Wednesday 28th Feb- our social group for disabled adults had a booking fall through at another pub so we called the Piper who got us in very last minute. The assistant manager and barman couldn't do enough for us despite being very busy and not expecting to accommodate such a large group on the night. Food was great, nice atmosphere and again, really helpful staff. Thanks so much, we will definitely head back here.

Came here for Sunday lunch with family. Absolutely amazing Sunday lunch. Very big portions and piping hot. Staff where so friendly and attentive,I think their names where talulah and yasim. The manageress was friendly and smiley and obviously had a great rapour with locals. Would definatley recommend. 5 stars guys

2nd time eating here , came to try the Sunday roast , meal was good came out hot , Husband had the beef roast dinner but we could not understand why he had crispy seaweed on the top of it , never had that with a Sunday roast before , and there was plenty of stalks in his meal , obviously from the rosemary , don’t get me wrong he cleared the plate as you can see by the photo , maybe they had no veg left , as the afternoon went by they ran out of Pinot then no gas for soda water so don’t know what was going on with stock , also we went to have a nice meal but didn’t realise football would be on every tv in the pub , even though they have a sports bar area for that , we sat by the window with two TVs above us , when the footie started it was too loud we ended up moving tables , no need for sound on every tv , it was coming from everywhere, maybe turn sound off in the dining area , if they are supporters there is the bar for that . , we would come again as staff were friendly enough and meals were very nice ,

This is the best place I've been in a long time,since I'm vegatarian I got the halloumi fish and chips it was lovely would go back again

We came in for Sunday lunch and although the food was nice we waited for atleast 10 minutes for our 3rd meal to come out after our first 2 had arrived at our table, staff didn’t seem very interested in being at work which made us feel very uncomfortable, female manager was very rude!!

1st time visit. Meeting the kids and grandkids for a spot of lunch. Management and staff bent over backwards to make our visit an excellent time. Popped in the piper on the way back from Chester , From the outside plenty of parking , also 2 electric car charges which is a bonus . For 1.30pm Friday afternoon was quiet , was told by the bar lad to take a seat & come up to the bar to order , no problem , The food came out hot which I would expect as nobody else was eating , looked abit bland on the plate , abit of side salad would have made the difference, but must say both myself and my husband enjoyed our lunch, would call in again next time we are passing maybe try the main menu next time .

Great deal £11.95 for 2 courses. Nice beer, quick service and lots of space. A refreshingly honest pub that gets the important things right. Superb crumble

Lovely meal with my niece and her partner. A long time since had visited. The pub has one through a lot of owners in recent years. Delighted to say the present landlord, who has been there 8 months, is doing a good job. Recommend for a midweek pub meal.

It's a great family pub, with pub food as expected. The atmosphere is really good and staff are extremely friendly. There are a small selection of kids games and lots of music. We feel comfortable bringing a 2 1/4 year old.

Our Sunday lunch at The Piper was truly excellent, a rare find. For starters, our party of four had the mozzerella cheese sticks, breaded prawns, and the stilton & garlic mushrooms. The breading on the cheese sticks and prawns was crispy, well-seasoned, and deliciously craggly. All three were excellent. For mains, three of us had the Sunday roast, and one of us the halloumi 'fish' & and chips. As with the starters, the halloumi was deliciously breaded, the chips lovely and crispy, and all of it was generously portioned. But for me, the roasts were the absolute star of the dinner: the beef (pictured) was tender, being a slightly pink medium doneness (I would have preferred slightly rarer, but that is personal taste); the potatoes & parsnips were nicely seasoned and the cabbage & leek was excellent; and the chef even added some beautifully crispy deep-fried kale (it could have been seaweed?) as an inspired umami kick throughout the dish, which complimented the gravy, mash, & crispy yorkshires very nicely. Two of also bought three pigs in blankets each as extras, for £3.50. It was honestly one of the nicest roasts I've had the pleasure of enjoying. For desserts (pictured), we had a vegan cherry sundae (made from delicious coconut ice 'cream'), and the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. Both were very nice and well portioned. Four of us spent just over £100 including soft drinks and the roasts' add-ons, which felt very reasonable considering the quality of the food. Can't wait to return to The Piper for more!
