A fantastic building set in beautiful grounds would be a wonderful wedding venue and golf themed party venue also some where to live.

Lovely lunch with a group, efficient staff

We recently attended a wedding here. There had been some mix up/miscommunication re: dietary requirements so there was no food for us at the wedding (as you can imagine having not eaten since 9am by 4.30pm we were just as hungry as everyone else). It wasn’t just the lack of food it was the poor communication and how we were treated by the waitressing team (one waitress in particular) who clearly did not care at all that we had no food and would not answer any of our questions. We were eventually given a main meal but it was very poor. We were given very mixed messages about what was in the food. Due to pressure from us and the bride we were provided with a dessert however this was exactly the same dessert as everybody else but chopped up, presented different and placed into a different bowl. Needless to say that at this point we did not trust the caterings team ability to cater to those with dietary requirements/allergies so we chose not to eat it. I left the wedding at this point due to the terrible experience from staff and to go and find myself some food! Shocking experience.

Given the amount of rain lately, the course was in fantastic condition with great quality greens highly recommended

Excellent course for Winter Golf. Shame our 3 ball was held up from 7th hole onwards by a 2 ball who were filming themselves. They were completely oblivious to 3 people stood waiting on each tee or in the fairway waiting for the green to clear, whilst they set up the tripod camera to record every shot.(Ready Golf it wasn't) What should of been a perfect winter Golf day, turned into a slow & cold round. This shouldn't be allowed on the course when it's busy. A highly anticipated golf day ruined by oblivious selfish golfers.

Absolute brilliant night, 1st class service from all the staff, from being greeted to ensuring our food served hot with a smile, to ensuring our ice bucket was topped up, the food was to a very high standard and quality, enjoyed every course, a great DJ who kept the dance floor full throughout the evening, not out first visit but we see improvement year on year, wondering how it's possible, this venue has an eye for detail and an understanding of proples expectations..... Perfect start to Christmas, See you next year. Well done to the Vale Royal Abbey Team...... Thankyou from both of us!!!!

A lovely location for an event. I'm not a golfer, so I won't rate the course, but I would definitely recommend it for a wedding or other large gathering. The staff are very friendly.

A wonderful afternoon tea set in the most beautiful building overlooking the golf course. From the moment we stepped Inside the staff could not have been more welcoming and ensured we were well looked after throughout. The selection of teas, sandwiches and cakes were well thought out and they tasted amazing. The outstanding winners for me were the warm homemade scones with cream and Jam, what a wonderful birthday treat this was!

Had afternoon tea, reasonable price, it was absolutely gorgeous, and the place looks amazing will definitely be going back.

Came here with friends for afternoon teas, it’s was just so lovely. It was our first time at the The Abbey and it was amazing, beautiful location and building. Our server Melissa was great and really looked after us. The food was delicious and presented very well, and we will definitely be going back. They are doing a promotion at the moment giving out 2 for 1 vouchers on your return visit. Would definitely recommend and great value for money.

New Year’s Eve party 🎉 Bit disappointing. Not as good as previous years. All inclusive drinks was on a budget. No Prosecco or champagne offered. You had to take your own glass back to bar for a refill however you could not get a double, as the staff stated this was to discourage people from getting drunk ?? Food was a bit below par. Think presentation was lovely but quality not Staff as usual were brilliant. Probably find a different venue for next year

We were treated to an afternoon tea as part of our Christmas present. The staff were very attentive and the afternoon tea was delicious. Plenty to eat and everything fresh. Our only problem was finding the venue. Even the Sat Nav got lost, needs more signage.

Went there on a dining event. The dining hall they had for us was very spacious and included a very big reception area. The food presentation was absolutely immaculate and the quality of the ingredients trickled through into the taste. I had beef and it was very succulent and not at all chewy. I am yet to try the golf course however, as golf courses go, it looked amazing.

Went to a ball and had a great time, food was very good. Staff were great. Beer was ok, but a bit dearer then a normal pub.

Fabulous historic Abbey. Brilliant venue for weddings / christenings etc. Food is amazing. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended.

This is a great venue for both golfers and non golfers alike. The Golf course and settings are excellent! Don't leave Vale Royal Abbey without making the most of the hospitality, Dave and the team provide first class food and service !

Great parkland course with a very good layout, quite a few holes you need to think about each shot, otherwise your out of position some holes very testing

Had a great day at Vale Royal golf club today. Dave & his hospitality team during and after our round of golf were exceptional. Food was fabulous. Definitely one to visit just to eat even if you’re not a golfer

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea today. Everything was really tasty and good quality and we thought it was good value for money. Tina looked after us beautifully. I would highly recommend and can't understand why the place isn't booked up.

Played last year and was a must to return this year. Still an excellent day of golf.

Lovely building and setting. I booked for afternoon tea, which was very very disappointing. The sandwiches were unimaginative and the portions were so small it was an insult. Worst afternoon tea I've ever had and I've sampled all over the country.

Played in the mixed open, the course is great and the greens superb we had a meal afterwards which was also very good.

Third visit for afternoon tea at the weekend and it was excellent and very reasonably priced. A beautiful venue too.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here this weekend, the staff are so lovely and the Abbey is beautiful!!

Former place of biggest Cistercian abbey in British Isles, unfortunately torn down during harsh Edwardian times. Today golf club and beautiful wedding venue with good looking restaurant. For public only dirty external table full of pigeon's excrements.. but place overally really charming.

The Abbey is situated in a beautiful part of the Cheshire Countryside with amazing views. The staff have all got a very professional approach and deliver great Customer Service. The Carvery and Dessert I had was delicious and I would highly recommend to others. I will be back very soon ❤️

The golf course is in very poor condition the greens are almost unplayable I've been a member for the past 8 years and played the course from day one and I've never seen it like that think the greens staff need to do sum work before its to late

Congratulations to the fine management and wonderful team for hosting such a wonderful New Years Eve Gala evening at Vale royal Abbey. Along with My Vale Royal Courtyard friends we all had a wonderful evening in what is such a magnificent setting and surroundings. First class service, entertainment and food. Such beautiful surroundings, and the staff made Our Christmas extra special, the quality of the Christmas roast dinner was of high quality, served by a very friendly staff team. We will most definitely visit here again within the near future.

We had our Christmas Party here last night, It was fabulous, I was expecting it to be very crowded but it wasn't it was just perfect, there were 20 of us and we went for the £55 package which included a three course meal, free drinks all night, a magician and a disco. The DJ was brilliant, he joined us on the dance floor and generally seemed like he was loving life. The magician was very entertaining. The staff were amazing, we were well looked after by Tina and the rest of the team, the bar and waiting on staff were great, especially young Louis who we wound up all night! Another young memeber of staff took the time to have a boogie with our 84 year old Vera, (Sorry didn't get his name) she's a proper spring chicken. Also have to mention Vicky who sorted our booking out, excellent communication, very quick to answer emails and queries. Thanks everyone!

Excellent lunch and service here with great staff help and attention. Ideal facilities for disabled customers and reasonable prices. Will definitely return and have also tentatively arranged to go there with some other friends. So it better be same standard then!!

Very busy .green keepers addressing the greens. So a lot of waiting around. Disappointed because it was a present from my son.

Had dinner here. The location is excellent, but the bar and food service was very amateurish. The service was mainly by very young people, they tried their best but struggled without any leadership from senior staff. Lack of knowledge behind the bar meant that three staff served one guest this caused queues and frustration. When the food eventually arrived, it was unceremoniously plonked down!. As stated above, the building is very nice but the overall experience was disappointing.

Had a delightful afternoon tea this afternoon. Amazing location with fantastic views of the grounds. The food was delicious and there was a great selection of teas to choose from. Staff were really friendly and thank you to Dave looked after our every need. Great experience and would highly recommend.

We visited yesterday as a group of 120 diners and the food was very disappointing. We have visited for the last four years for the same event and have never been disappointed previously. The setting and location is perfect but the standard of food and beverage was poor. The carvery wasn’t hot, was presented like a school dinner and tasted as though it had been cooked hours before. The gravy was very watery. Starter and dessert were better than the carvery but the dessert was also served as a school dinner covered in custard (on a sticky toffee pudding?) Tea was stewed and luke warm. Beautiful venue but catering needs looking into!

This is an excellent course set in stunning dickensian scenery, however, the bar service and club house facilities could also be described as Victorian too.

Last night I celebrated my 30th birthday here, I just want to say a massive thank to all the staff working! Nothing was too much and made sure we all had the best night, they are a credit to the place. If you’re considering vale royal abbey for a celebration, don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed.

What a wonderful afternoon spent having afternoon tea here. The place is steeped in history and is overlooking stunning grounds. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist and seated upstairs in a beautiful room which was spotlessly clean. Pure white tablecloths, our name card on the table and different coloured crockery on each table. So quintessentially English. Lovely soft music in the background too. Our view was wonderful, overlooking the golf course. The food and drinks arrived and it was all so pretty and ever so fresh. I am such a fusspot with afternoon tea. I can’t bear sandwiches that are curly and dry. These tasted like they had just been made that moment. We had a pot of coffee each so lots and didn’t require a refill. When I said how wonderful the building was the lovely manager actually showed me around. I thought that was a lovely touch. I can imagine a wedding here would be out of this world. Would definitely recommend and will be back. Thank you VRA.

Just had bubble cream tea and great staff welcome and the tea room was beautiful. We do not drink alcohol and was served with any choice of soft drink. The only thing that let this great experience down was the coffee.

Went for Sunday lunch using Groupon vouchers, sadly meal was poor, a spoon of each veg and 2 roast potatoes, when my son asked for more he was told “you can have one”, so embarrassing, hair in 2 meals, I appreciate it was Groupon but should not be advertised as Sunday Carvery if its not, sent email of complaint which has gone ignored, no where near as good as other offers on at the moment during winter months Edit: Returned for our second visit yesterday, excellent food and service. Would now highly recommend and will be returning. Thank you for accommodating us after so many months of COVID lockdown.

Fantastic course kept in immaculate condition. Our society was made to feel extremely welcome. Breakfast was superb also.

Fantastic Greens where fast what a day we had all 13 of us

The first time out since the end of lockdown in a food venue. There was no problem booking afternoon tea by phone before lockdown lifted and requesting one vegetarian tea , with other dietary requirements that were handled easily too. Having parked easily signage could have been clearer as to where tea was served, however within a minute of standing by the entrance to the Spikes Bar, on a busy Saturday lunch time, a staff member greeted us asking if we were there for Afternoon Tea. We were escorted upstairs to the lovely , trnquil, lounge, set out for tea, tables with spotless cloths, English china, Royal Albert cups etc and a view over the golf course. A choice of tea, perhaps not enough speciality, no Darjeeling, Assam or Gunpowder but good tea nontheless. The tea arrived quickly and soon afterwards the two cake stands with an excellent selection of tasty sandwiches that even pleased the vegetarian Memsahib. Many of the cakes appeared to be home made and all were fresh. The scones were nice, if a little claggy but certainly fresh. Prosecco was included, a good quality one and a second glass was proferred when the waiter learned it was our 45th Wedding Anniversary. Throughout , from the young lady who took us to our seat to the young man who looked after us , service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, keen to please, not overbearing or pretentious, no long explanations about the eggs coming from rare breeds or butter churned by hand that you can get at other tea rooms, just good , honest , service. A memorable leisurely early afternoon tea, we will return.
