Having thought we'd spend the day in Suffolk, wandered up and down the high street looking for a place to have breakfast - which was really hard to find (a local independent place that sold more than tea and cake!) Came across The Chocolate Teapot which looked lovely from the outside and was dog friendly (inside too) 🐾 Staff were attentive, friendly and the food was lovely. We sat outside (as there were no tables left inside), but it was a lovely day, so it wasn't too cold for February. Poached eggs on a long thin slice of sourdough bread (cooked in butter or oil) was delicious. Eggs were runny and perfectly made. Also ordered a bacon and egg sandwich, again this was nice. We would certainly return back again. Thank you The Chocolate Teapot, first time to Aldeburgh and it was a great start to our day.

On the 19th April 2025 we were visiting aldeburgh with friends as we had heard aldeburgh were famous for their fish and chips. The 4 of us then went into the upper deck diner for our lunch sat down, we all ordered the medium cod and chips and was so looking forward to our meal. Med cod and chips x 4 cost us a total of £ 59.60 with the drinks being extra etc etc , well I have to say the cod which we were all served was very very disappointing, it was much smaller than we were expecting, the batter was dark in colour and it was dry and crunchy and tasteless and was mainly batter and what little cod in side the batter was full of big bones, I can honestly say it was the worst fish and chips meal we had ever ordered when out. We were all so very disappointed with our meal as it didn't feel like the meals were cooked to order as the meal were not very hot at all, I have to say the whole meal tasted like the fish may have been pre cooked then put into a hot oven to keep it warm until it was ordered, the same with the chips. Very disappointing indeed and We certainly won't be returning to the upper deck diner again.

I recently visited Ives Ice Cream Parlour and came away with mixed feelings. While the prices are notably high, I must commend the customer service and product quality that I experienced during my visit. The staff members were friendly and welcoming, taking the time to help me choose from their extensive selection of flavors. Their knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience enjoyable, as they offered recommendations and samples without hesitation. As for the ice cream itself, it was truly delicious. The rich flavors and creamy texture reflected the quality ingredients used, making it a treat worth savoring. Each scoop was generously sized, which somewhat justifies the higher price point. Though the pricing might be considered steep, the excellent customer service and the premium product quality make Ives Ice Cream Parlour a worthwhile stop for ice cream lovers. If you're looking for a delightful treat and are willing to spend a little more, I highly recommend giving it a try!

Quick coffee is all we ordered but had to wait half an hour! Ridiculous system without the obvious solution of having a dedicated barista! We had to wait for them to cook various breakfasts before they got to us. Just a quick coffee is obviously not an option here ... as was described on the website! Plus seeing dogs being fed off the floor by other customers was really unsavoury! We won't be back. The food looked really great and we had plenty of time to see people being served with it on our long wait.

We celebrated a significant birthday with friends with an Afternoon Tea. The tea itself was excellent as was the whole experience from arrival to the lovely waitress and reception. A really great package.

We had a delightful lunch at 'the Suffolk' with its delicious and unpretentious menu. The location is wonderful, overlooking the sea in Aldeburgh while also accessed via the charming main street. Inside it is cosy and comfortable with a log burner for the chillier days - it is both cosy and stylish. The friendly service was a compliment to an extremely well run restaurant. We will be back to savour the rooftop terrace with stunning views out to see and look forward to the BBQ + a cocktail or 2!

Good value lunch menu- maitre de was excellent definitely went over and above in his service! Food was delicious. Dinner service was standard, my wife had an issue with her main course which was quickly replaced as was mine ( so we could eat together), definitely over and above service on that issue ! It’s a beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea - will come again for sure !

What a fantastic find - I have walked along Aldeburgh sea front so many times and not once noticed Sea Spice. The food was fantastic, by far the best Indian restaurant in Suffolk. The staff were very polite and the decor was modern, making it perfect for a special occasion. It is also good value for money. The only reason I marked it down slightly is because the service was really slow. It took a long time before our order was taken. We also ran out of drinks a few times and I had to get up to go ask a waiter to order so more. I suggest that the front of house staff need to be a bit more attentive in checking on the guests.

I’m lucky enough to live a mile away from this wonderful place where I have been eating for many years. The food is genuine, remarkably good value and consistently excellent. But what I like most about Munchies is its exuberance! The staff and owner are always full of the joys of Spring - even when it’s not! No wonder they win awards!
