Ives Ice cream Parlour & Coffee shop in Suffolk Coastal

Not a great experience. We witnessed the lady behind the counter turn two children with sad faces away when they were mere moments behind our group. We were rushed through the orders and as I went to pick up my ice-cream from the counter stand, the lady had commenced spraying windex. Needless to say I felt the light misting of the windex hit my fingers and icecream. Yum, I thought, hopefully that stuff isn't too toxic 😑😬 I get the stress of closing and wanting to get away, and wanting to get away if you are only paid a certain number of hours but that was not a good friendly experience, and you have to wonder if the owners are aware.

This is a nice little ice-cream shop located on the Aldeburgh high street. It has a good range of scooped ice-cream flavours and also sells whippy ice-creams. I purchased one scooped ice-cream cone and one whippy ice-cream cone and the cost was £8.50, which to be honest I do think is a bit over priced. I tour many UK coastal areas and don't think I have paid so much for just two ice-creams, especially when one was a standard whippy ice-cream. The ice-cream flavours are nice though.

Small ice cream parlour with limited on street seating on the Main Street. This place is a gem. Many flavours available including Sorbets. Available in various sizes in cups or cones. Drinks also done. Lemon sorbet was wonderful. Salted Caramel and Chocolate Cookie Dough also went down a treat. Mango Sorbet, Salted Caramel, Biscoff and Stracciatella also went down very well on another visit.

Honeycomb ice cream here is breathtakingly good.

Excellent ice cream parlour that we regularly visit on our holidays. Very popular with kids and family's. Large selection of ice cream, unfortunately very limited seating inside and outside. Children's ice cream size is very reasonable price at around £1.70.

Dropped in today with a friend and received really excellent service from the gentleman serving us. Plus the Vegan ice cream was delicious! My friend also commented on how tasty his chocolate milkshake was as well. Would visit again if I return to Aldeburgh

Great customer service. Definitely worth trying the different flavours if you go in there and have vanilla and a plain cone, there's something wrong with you!

Avoid. Very rude unhelpful staff, not very good for potential customers that are anxious during these times. There’s a much nicer place over the road.

Popped in today looking for churros but forgot how they’re called in English 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Was offered ice cream in waffle cones and Belgian waffles buy super friendly people. Will definitely return next time for wide range of ice cream when weather gets a bit warmer for my family to enjoy .

Queue outside the shop so social distance was adhered to. Loads of flavours to choose from, however paying an extra 50p for a cone is a bit steep! Friendly chatty service which was nice

Covid 19 couldn’t get in Due to many signs and tapes not to touch anything but other bacteria will get you as the (rude) staff member wore the same gloves to serve my husbands ice cream cone, take his Cash and give change! Should have been a 2 man job. Nb hand gel doesn’t work on gloves as is formulated for skin. Terrible customer care and service.

Staff were a bit grumpy and not too helpful even when there was no queue and we were the only customers present. It does have a good selection of ice creams; however beware that sometimes the ice cream isn't firmly seated into the cone......with predictable results!They do have screens up between the staff and the customers. There is sanitisers available. One customer (household/group) at a time, with queuing outside, but people didn't maintain social distance. No surprise there.

As others have testified, great range of flavours. Our party had maple and walnut, gingerbread, coffee, pistachio and salted caramel. There were probably 30 more.

Amazing ice-cream, lovely people working there...so many options...!!! Delicious!y favourite one is rum and raisins. They have vegan options too! They had 6 options, vegan cones! Big portions. Vegan I had coconut and raspberry ♥️♥️ my favourite place where I am always willing to travel! Thank you! Family company, doing their job with love! Cheers!

Allow plenty of time as soo many flavours to agonise over!! Generous helpings at a good price. Well worth finding.

THe hardest part is choosing. There are over 30 different flavours. I opted for the coconut and pineapple and the maple and walnut. The latter was by far the nicest. The other dis not really taste of either the coconut or pineapple and I expected it to have bits of both in it but there wasn't.

A minimum of 34 flavours of ice cream made from locally sourced ingredients are available - there is so much choice making a decision is very difficult so return trips are necessary!!

I have been in this ice cream parlour several times as it’s the only one that has a dairy option however the owner is rude and needs a lesson in good manners.

Good ice cream, with full fruit and quick service. The difficulty comes with making the choices. the rhubarb was very good.

Lots of flavours available to go with lots of different option cones(with chocolate etc etc). Ice cream was yummy too and the staff were friendly. Some bar stools available indoors and a few seats outside, not many, if you're looking for sit.

34 flavours of ice cream all of those we tried were very good. The walnut and maple was great as was the pink grapefruit. Highly recommend as the ice cream shop for Aldeburgh visits.

Wow! What a range of flavours. Never had coconut and pineapple before - Real chunks of pineapple mixed in. Had all the classics and a huge choice of cones & waffles. Will try coffee bean flavour next time.

A visit to Aldeburgh wouldn’t be right without a visit to this ice cream parlour, I don’t know how many flavours they have, but there are a lot. Always a queue but they serve quickly.

I had a milkshake that tasted lovely, very fresh and creamy. It's a shame however that the milkshake menu is very limited and only chocolate/caramel based choices. I really wanted something based on one of the many other ice cream flavours they do. My friend enjoyed an amazing Eton Mess ice cream and the price paid was slightly above average.

Really impressed with this lovely ice cream shop. First place we have found with gluten free cones. Staff very friendly and helpful and also very knowledgable about which ice cream flavours contained gluten and which didn’t. They also had a separate clean gluten free scoop for serving. All very useful when your children are coeliac.

Once again delicious ice cream, Praline & Cream this time and, as always, the best flat white coffee in town 😊

We searched up places to eat before making a trip to Aldeburgh. We found Ives was quite near to where we were going, so we decided to give it a try.

Came in to get a ice cream and was quite amazed at the choice of flavours... there was so many it took me a few seconds to decide and as I'm visually impaired It took me a bit longer to try and read the menu but the lady serving seemed in a bit of a hurry to get us served tho we were the only 2 people in the shop! I choose a flavour in feeling a little under pressure to make a quick choice. We also ordered hot drinks. We ate in in the few tables and chairs provided, just as i didn't want to carry my drink at the same time.

The ice cream i had was nasty, mostly because the staff spat in my rum and raisin surprise. I will never visit this cack-hole again.

Looking for somewhere to have a coffee, we stopped here. Entered and requested two coffees. The proprietor seemed a touch unfriendly especially when presented a card for payment. Seems he would rather have cash but this is 2018. The coffee was much too strong for the small cup in which it was served. I did not ask for an espresso shot!

Can’t beat a good ice cream in the rain. Sadly we had quite a bit of that this week but this place cheered us up. I was a bit stuck on Salted Caramel, but eventually tried lovely Honeycomb, I’m told the White Choc was also lovely, Worth a trip.

Always a huge que outside and with good reason . Wonderful ice cream with a huge and some unusual flavours . Favourite with the grandchildren .

What more could one want? Lovely cones with a delicious plethora of choices, one cannot really go wrong. Especially if one walks along the beach with an ice cream in hand.

There were over 30 varieties of ice cream. I highly recommend the Xmas pudding (available all year). It blew my little mind. The couple running the place seem very nice and clearly love their ice cream.

Having decided to have a day on the coast it was a beautiful, sunny, warm day. The ice cream parlour provided an excellent range of ice creams either to eat in or take away. To sit down for a short while from the sun was excellent.

Visited for an ice cream and was not disappointed. Very wide range of choices We had Devon toffee and salted caramel and both were lovely. Average prices for these sort of ice cream. Would definitely return.

Ice cream was terrible ! The staff were rude and would never go back the ice cream tasted horrible and i was on the toilet for the whole night !!! There were no toilets so i had to go over to a public toilet half way through my meal !! Would not go back, Which is a shame !

Following a wet beach walk an ice cream for the kids and coffee for us was what was needed! Ives certainly have a passion for good coffee and brilliant ice cream (even try before you buy). The owners have kept it clean and in good shape for over 20 years and their hospitality is refreshing even on a damp and dreary afternoon. Not to mention affordable prices. Highly recommended!

Tried to buy a coffee.Asked for change first staff said no.But when I then asked for a ice cream happy to help.Ice cream I had was horrible.Staff said there's is the best in Suffolk.Tastless.Will not come again.

Lovely ice cream but a tad pricey

We always hope to find room after lunch ( todays was fish and chips) for an ice cream from Ives. Today as always huge flavour selection. We went for stem ginger (regular favourite) and coconut and pineapple (new one to try...more coconut than pineapple but very nice, fresh and tropical all the same). Consistently excellent ice creams..an Aldeburgh institution for us!

We used to bring our children years ago. We enjoyed lemon meringue and peanut butter ice cream yum. Highly recommended.

Had the ice cream in the title and it was wonderful. Been past many times, but decided to go in. The guy behind the counter was very knowledgeable about every ice cream and although I went for a favourite, I'd go again for a more wacky flavour. A must visit.

We popped in here yesterday to get my daughter an icecream. There were more than 30 flavours to choose from with a range of different cones. Ellie and my husband had a strawberry cone and a peanut butter cone, both we're reported to be delicious. I'm a vegan and was chuffed to hear that there was soya and almond milk available so opted for a coffee. There were a few different fruit sorbets available which were suitable for vegans and I intended to come back later in the day for one. However after sitting down and having a chat with the owner he mentioned that there was a secret stash of soya-based vanilla icecream behind the counter! Awesome news, so I very much enjoyed a scoop of that with my coffee. It's not on display so perhaps ask at the counter to see if they have it in stock on your visit. The parlour was clean and nicely presented and the staff friendly, if we come back to Aldeburgh we'd love to see that you're still here!

I love soft ice cream and Aldeburgh no longer has soft lucky ice cream. We both like ice cream but my husband is a fanatic! We have been in this ice cream shop before and it is worth queuing. There were four people behind the counter yesterday but only one serving a longish queue. It seemed more important to attend to the coffee machine (no one having coffee) than serve. None the less the ice cream is OK!

We visited here today as a treat before dinner. It is clearly very popular as we queued outside for 5 minutes before we could even get in!

well it was August Bank Holiday, the sun is shining and you are at the coast. we had to try the ice cream and with 34 to choose from plus an assortment of cones, tubs, waffles you didn't get caught out. Service great, ices good value, although was a long queue!! very friendly and helpful staff to all

Judge by the queues, very popular, fish is gorgeous! Well the wait, parking can be difficult in the high season....

When ever we visit Aldeburgh our visit is never complete without an IceCream from this specialised IceCream parlour.

We often visit this little ice-cream shop when we are in Aldeburgh.... not the friendliest of places, the staff could do with smiling every now and then and at least appearing grateful for the custom. However, I guess a long summer of tourists, including those less intelligent ones who insist on pushing their pushchairs through the narrow one-way system of the shop is enough to make anyone scowl. Ice-cream is very average, at best, they are certainly not investing in good quality here so I would imagine it's all about raking in the profits whilst the season is here, making hay when the sun shines in other words. Who can blame them...but it's the lack of wearing gloves or using a napkin when the staff pick up the cones which is the most disappointing. If you want to avoid dirty hands touching your food, have it in a cup.

We visit Aldeburgh at least 6 times a year and always come here. However on this occasion i was most disappointed after ordering 4 ice creams at 220 each that the poor girl serving them was told by whom i can only assume is the manager that to watch her portion sizes which were getting to big!!

Got Maple Walnut and Pistachio (underneath). Pistachio tasted like marzipan. I hate marzipan, can't eat it. Popped back to ask if I'd got the wrong one, instant response was "if it's green it's Pistachio". It could be bright purple, if it tastes like Pistachio it's Pistachio. This didn't. Would have been fine if you'd handled this disappointed customer half-decently.

Ice cream and coffee says it all but products and service are first class and i would say you should not miss this establishment on your next visit to aldeburgh--super, great, kids loved everything--well done owner.

It was the 'right thing to do!' On a warm sunny afternoon we just had to have an ice cream after our fish & chips. A lovely bright shop with a few tables outside and inside.

Keep returning here, year after year. Best ice cream we've ever had. Tried most of the flavours and still can't choose! Pistachio is up there but rhubarb crumble has the be tried!

Have to be honest, we loved the ice cream here so much on our visit to Aldeburgh that the next day we called by on the way home, from another day out, just to get some more! Worth it!
