Went today for Sunday roast. We had Pork and chicken, plenty of roasted potato, vegetables and cauliflower cheese, All bathed in scrumptious gravy. Served with the warmest of smiles by Sophie & Charlie. After the service was finished, Jane , owner and great cook came to say hi and we had a lovely chat. Also met friends from their Pub Quiz, (Wednesdays, every other week) . We planned future meet ups. What is not to like !!!!

We were stying locally for a 3 night break. The Oyster was a 5 minute walk away. After checking online I saw they had a quiz night on one of the nights we were there, called ahead to book to attend and am glad we did as the Pub was packed. What a fun night we had. a real gem of a pub and obviously has a lot of regulars to te quiz, and we were made to feel really welcome. we also orderd food, the House burger was very good as were the other dishes. we also went and orderd pizzas for take away the following evening which were also very tasty and good value. The owners clearly put a lot of effort in to having different nights. 10/10 for the effort and care they clearly put into to running the Pub. thoroughly reccomend, especially if you can go to the quiz night.

Emailed and later followed up with a telephone call to confirm a booking for 7 adults on Saturday. We were staying locally and the Oyster Inn at Butley was a very conveniently located. Contacted them on the Saturday to ask whether dogs were welcome and they informed us that they had no record of the booking and that the kitchen was closed at 5pm. Not happy.

My new favourite pub in Suffolk We had a long weekend in Butley and came here every day. Jane who owns The Oyster is the nicest landlady you could ever hope to meet and makes you feel so at home. The pub itself is great with a large indoor and outdoor area with great locals. The food (Pork Sunday lunch was amazing) is great as is the beer but its really Jane who makes this place. Cant wait to come back Marcus

Made a special detour to visit The Butley Oyster as we have been meaning to go there for many years …. Our first - and last - visit!! Having ordered our meal - a pizza Margherita with coleslaw and a chicken Caesar salad - at around 6:30, and after asking how long before our food would take to arrive three times, the Caesar salad was delivered with the coleslaw at about 7:35! The pizza, however, was not delivered at the same time. Unbelievably, about 10 minutes later, the ‘waiter’ came over with a cardboard pizza box, slid it onto the table with a “Here your are, mate” and walked away. We had to request a plate - one eating from a bowl with a knife and fork whilst the other was supposed to eat from a cardboard box wasn’t at all what we were expecting! I have to say, the Chicken Caesar salad was actually delicious and not just because I was by this time ravenous - the pizza was really just OK - although it did appear to be freshly made. A shame our expectations were so much higher given the number of 5-star ratings previously given - the pub was by no means full; we wonder how long we would have had to wait if it had been!!

Stopped in with my kids on the way home for food and was told there was a 45 minute wait for food. Decided the kids could just about wait that long and orders just for the kids. It took 2 hours to arrive at 9pm! Not once did a member of staff come to our table to update on the delay, and every time I went in to check they seemed unable to give me a clear time frame and didn’t seem apologetic at all. We would have cut our losses and left after an hour if we’d known it would take that long with some communication between the kitchen and the bar. Just unacceptable. Especially when it was clear it was just for two kids. Such a shame but totally put off going again.

Nothing was too much, they decorated, provided amazing catering (the food was incredible!), they just made the whole experience amazing. They unexpectedly took ALL the pressure off and handled everything. Super friendly and kind, I felt like I'd known them for ages despite it being my first time meeting them all. I cannot say enough about this amazing place and the amazing staff. The beer garden is beautiful, the decor is stunning... the atmosphere is gorgeous, it's ideal for any and every occasion from an afternoon beer in the sun to a Sunday roast by the cosy fire (or a special occasion). What a hidden gem. Will definitely be regulars from now on, and everyone who came to my shower (they aren't local) have asked we come back after the baby is born. There wasn't a thing that we weren't all impressed with, you must pop in and try the food, heavenly! Visited The Oyster Inn with friends who were staying at the nearby Wantisden Park site, very friendly welcome from the staff and a good selection of beers with more on the way, menu is minimal but there should be something to tempt you, if only the price at £10 per meal or £6 (I think) for a smaller portion. We had the £10 fish and chips and double burger with chips which was extremely good value, a little wait for the food, however this was not a problem as the landlady provided complementary olives to nibble on. All other facilities were clean and pleasant. Worth giving them a call to check opening times in the less sunny months but if you are heading to the Butley area definitely drop in, if we want good local pubs such as this we must support them!

WOW !!! what an amazing pub !!! we have just had such an amazing evening in this beautiful old pub nestled in the center of the quaint pretty village of Butley. The food and service was truly first class and the staff were so caring. we ordered fish and chips , vegan tahini cauliflower, and burgers and it was all delicious, home made and very well prepared and cooked with love clearly. The fish was very fresh and the batter was so light and crispy the best I've had from a pub to be honest and the chef even came out to check everything was perfect for us which was very caring. I cannot say enough good things about it and you can stay in the b n b behind the pub if you fancy a stay there which is really cozy! The surrounding area is perfect for exploring the suffolk heritage coast as is located near to Orford with the Butley foot ferry linking the two villages along the Butley and Ore rivers which is a lovely walk and Shingle street which is a very interesting beach well worth a visit too. Also the pub is situated next to Rendlesham forest which is famous for its walks and wildlife. We came to this lovely pub twice on our couples get away after a hectic trip away abroad with our small 3 children. We have been staying at the wantisden park and read the reviews for the pub and thought we would pop along. Friday evening we had fish and chips and pie and chips. Both beautifully cooked. Best fish and chips I have had in years. A warm welcome to both us and our golden retriever dog. Upon returning to our car we realised our car has a flat tyre and a friendly local lent us a pump and pointed us into the right direction for a repair. We returned the following evening and met the landlady. What a lovely lady. I talked about my love for home cooked curry and she gifted me a curry book that she has a duplicate of. Made a fuss of the dog and had a lovely chat. We 100% recommend this lovely pub. Beautiful food and a lovely atmosphere. Keep doing what your doing. We will be back. Lovely country pub. Great food and portion sizes for the price. Great play area and choice of food for kids. Highly recommend

On Friday 11th October, my wife and me were looking forward to our fish and chips at lunchtime. We ordered 2 medium haddock and one portion of chips. The haddock was very small and mainly batter. The cost of this meal was £25, our local chippie charges around £18 for 2 pieces of large fish and a large portion of chips. We were very disappointed as we have been eating there each time we visit. Not next time we come to Aldeburgh.

A gem of a pub where we have previously stayed but this visit was for food and drink only. Important to remember it is a pub. Tables are not reset able and many people pop in for a drink only. The food is simple but plentiful, flavoursome and satisfying. As for drink, well it is an Adams pub - enough said.

This is one of those places that knows it has a good position so probably will always attract customers. I found the service to be very good and the pub has charm however the food is average. Nice place to stop off for a drink
