Our first visit! It hopefully won't be the last. The food was so obviously home made. The carvery excellent. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly and comfortable. No service charge added to the bill!!! Our own discretion!! The owner/ manager not sure which was great...eye on the ball and good to his young staff. We got Harry (in training) all smiles and a delight.

Rang to book, lady was really rude and sighed, I rang back shortly after to cancel as she had put me off but spoke to a man, told him why I was cancelling and he said he was pleased I cancelled as he didn’t really want have to come in to cook as he has Covid plus they have had builders in the kitchen all day. Was very rude, surely most places would have said sorry we have to close the kitchen today due to these things rather than being rude and inconvenienced that someone would want to come and eat! Would avoid this place at all costs

One of the few pubs in Suffolk to offer new potatoes and not just chips with everything. Good fillets of bass and separately plated vegetables. Reasonable prices for drinks and food. Shame about the waitress.

60th Birthday Jul 2024 • Family I cannot praise the whole experience enough, we celebrated my 60th Birthday a family of 25 people, we pre ordered a selection of meals some for the carvery and others from the menu the food was excellent with generous portions & enjoyed by all. The dessert menu was enormous with many old favourites but also delicious. Nick, Ruth & their team could not do enough for us from helping us untangle balloons to bring out Birthday cake that I had supplied into the garden after our meal. The Old Mill House is in an amazing setting offering a lovely play area for the children in our family party. The vegan in our party was also well catered for. I would highly recommend & we will definitely be back. Thank you 🙏

We were staying in Framlingham for 4 nights. We visited the Old Mill House on our 3rd night, the Wednesday. We had a starter and a main course. The carvery was Roast Pork and was delicious and really good value for money. All main courses came with a side dish of freshly cooked vegetables which were very tasty. We had no space for dessert. The food was so good we returned on the Thursday night and had a main course and dessert. My wife had vanilla cheesecake and ice cream and I had sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Both were excellent and plentiful. The service was excellent and we were given a lovely 2 seater table by the door and fireplace. I would recommend this pub to anyone visiting the Framlingham area and looking for a relaxed evening meal within a pub with plenty of history and character. Thank You.

Went for a beer today with a good fiend. Was telling him what a great pub. Food wise etc how nice the publican and and his were Shock horror The skinny barman who served us was the most miserable man I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting in any public house I have frequented. He is in the wrong occupation he should be working in a morgue. Or an undertaker. Nick the publican should have a serious word All respects to the public and. The Old Mill House was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 4 children. Excellent welcome, quick service and very satisfying meals. One of the boys was hoping for whitebait and the whitebait platter was exactly what he wanted. The roasts were just lovely. My fish was very good and the vegetables with it also tasty and plentiful. Happy to say that everything was eaten. Most enjoyable. We’ve been there quite a few times now and it is consistently and reliably good.

We have visited before and were not disappointed again. Same landlord for the past 30 years so knows what he is doing. The menu has all the usual suspects but then there is a specials board, we had the pork loin with Stilton and pie of the day, both meals were lovely plenty of sauce with the pork and the pie was stuffed full of meat both meals accompanied by a side dish of fresh seasonal veg. Pudding was a brandy basket full of orange sorbet and cream, delicious. Great Ghost Ship beer and nice Malbec. Couldn’t fault anything.

Staff were great barman a bit surly, we had lunch there yesterday, it was edible and what I would describe as school dinners. I skipped the carvery as the roast potatoes looked bad. I tried a friends brown Brussel sprout, not sure if it was frozen but bitter taste-inedible. do not recommend. There are plenty of fantastic places for lunch, yes you pay more but it's worth it. We have pasted this place many of times and said we would go in one day and last Saturday we did just that. It wasn’t planned we wanted to find a pub where we could have a drink and this was ideal. We ended up have a small bite to eat and we wasn’t disappointed. A starter and desserts was perfect and it was good ole pub food. We loved the fact there was bar stools at the bar for people to just have a drink. Staff were friendly and service was great. It was quiet but atmosphere was lovely. Very disappointed. We were welcomed by being asked if we had booked, when we said no we were told "well that's rude, it's nice to know if people are coming". It was a Monday in November and there wasn't anyone in the place. No smiles, just a well what do you want. Every table had a reserved sign on and we were told we just do that...odd. My brother asked for an Americanna coffee, only to be told "we don't do fancy coffee, it's filter or nothing". Apparently, it tasted awful. The food arrived, we all ordered various baguettes. They were large with chips and a basic salad. My sausage and onion one was made with very cheap sausages and not very pleasant. The cheese one was fine but the bacon and cheese melt was mediocre. Overall the pub seemed very run down, the tables were sticky and the decor tired. I hate giving bad reviews but honestly couldn't find anything positive to say about the place. I would never go back there.

Nick and his crew are doing a grand job at the Old Mill House in Saxtead. During storm Babet in 2023 we were unable to find a route past Framlingham. We were trapped by flooded roads in all directions. We turned a corner and found this pub, a true oasis and a godsend. We had several good beers and food over the next couple of days. Came from Chester to visit my son who lives in Framlingham. Looking forward to a meal here. Without looking too hard at the menu,I asked for a cheeseburger but added that I didn’t want any sauces on (as elsewhere you tend to get ketchup on) the man serving us was ‘a bit off’ with me saying “you have me confused” as apparently the burgers came as I wanted anyway. The food was fine , but felt he spoiled the otherwise ok experience. I’m sure he knew what I meant , but I didn’t need to be belittled. Fortunately , I’ve had better experiences in restaurants nearby.

Made to feel uncomfortable by the very rude owner on my first visit, which will also be my last. The carvery was mediocre at best - fatty meat, mushy overcooked broccoli and soft, floppy crackling. On Friday 11th October, my wife and me were looking forward to our fish and chips at lunchtime. We ordered 2 medium haddock and one portion of chips. The haddock was very small and mainly batter. The cost of this meal was £25, our local chippie charges around £18 for 2 pieces of large fish and a large portion of chips. We were very disappointed as we have been eating there each time we visit. Not next time we come to Aldeburgh.

A gem of a pub where we have previously stayed but this visit was for food and drink only. Important to remember it is a pub. Tables are not reset able and many people pop in for a drink only. The food is simple but plentiful, flavoursome and satisfying. As for drink, well it is an Adams pub - enough said.
