Great find .excellent choices on menu chose carvery,absolutely delicious,huge choice of desserts large portions and again delicious.will visit again for sure.

We had an absolutely great Sunday lunch 3 days ago. The carvery was delicious. The kids loved their food and they had their first ever knickerbocker glories - their faces were a picture! Prices were really reasonable and staff were lovely. Have already passed details on to family who are planning to visit next week and next time we are in Sussex we will definitely be back!

We enjoyed a reasonably priced 2 course lunch. The beef and ale pie was tender with a tasty gravy and enormous puff pastry topping. Service was courteous.

Definitely more on the restaurant side than the pub side. Atmosphere was still very cozy and the decor added to that feeling. Had the lasagne which was excellent, albeit a little small but came with ample sides so no worries there. Service was a tad on the slow side, but not enough to complain. Waiter was friendly.

The Old Mill House was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 4 children. Excellent welcome, quick service and very satisfying meals. One of the boys was hoping for whitebait and the whitebait platter was exactly what he wanted. The roasts were just lovely. My fish was very good and the vegetables with it also tasty and plentiful. Happy to say that everything was eaten. Most enjoyable. We’ve been there quite a few times now and it is consistently and reliably good.

We have visited before and were not disappointed again. Same landlord for the past 30 years so knows what he is doing. The menu has all the usual suspects but then there is a specials board, we had the pork loin with Stilton and pie of the day, both meals were lovely plenty of sauce with the pork and the pie was stuffed full of meat both meals accompanied by a side dish of fresh seasonal veg. Pudding was a brandy basket full of orange sorbet and cream, delicious. Great Ghost Ship beer and nice Malbec. Couldn’t fault anything.

Good pub grub! A completely unplanned visit we were driving through the Suffolk countryside and felt peckish, this was the first pub we found, and we are very glad we did. Friendly staff and good menu selection, our order was taken quickly and the food arrived piping hot. Dog friendly, we had our 5month old pup with us and he was made welcome. Well worth a visit.

Very nice pub, great food and choice of either IPA or Ghost ship. We will be back.

Staff were great barman a bit surly, we had lunch there yesterday, it was edible and what I would describe as school dinners. I skipped the carvery as the roast potatoes looked bad. I tried a friends brown Brussel sprout, not sure if it was frozen but bitter taste-inedible. do not recommend. There are plenty of fantastic places for lunch, yes you pay more but it's worth it. The White Horse in Easton is the best or The Unruly Pig. good luck!

I am sorry but the pub has no atmosphere at all it was a good job I was with my friends so it was a nice evening.

Not a hospitable pub. Most tables with 'Reserved' but no bookings and got told where we could sit. No choices. The barman was miserable. Not one smile. Very similar to another review. No WiFi The food is nice, but the atmosphere is terrible.

We stopped here on a Wednesday lunch time on the way home from other activities, slightly odd walking into a sparsely occupied pub with reserved signs on almost every table, however we were seated quickly (with dog) and served well. Scampi and chips was plentiful, and my wife's broccoli cheese bake was delicious. Perfect lunch break. Would be happy to return.

We visited on a quiet Tuesday but the service and quality was still great. Huge selection and a great special board. The gentleman that served us was friendly, happy and professional. 3 of our group had the carvery and all were impressed with the quantity and quality. We would defiantly visit again.

We have pasted this place many of times and said we would go in one day and last Saturday we did just that. It wasn’t planned we wanted to find a pub where we could have a drink and this was ideal. We ended up have a small bite to eat and we wasn’t disappointed. A starter and desserts was perfect and it was good ole pub food. We loved the fact there was bar stools at the bar for people to just have a drink. Staff were friendly and service was great. It was quiet but atmosphere was lovely. They served a yummy looking roast lunch. We will definitely be back when we have more time and plan on eating more.

Very disappointed. We were welcomed by being asked if we had booked, when we said no we were told "well that's rude, it's nice to know if people are coming". It was a Monday in November and there wasn't anyone in the place. No smiles, just a well what do you want. Every table had a reserved sign on and we were told we just do that...odd. My brother asked for an Americanna coffee, only to be told "we don't do fancy coffee, it's filter or nothing". Apparently, it tasted awful. The food arrived, we all ordered various baguettes. They were large with chips and a basic salad. My sausage and onion one was made with very cheap sausages and not very pleasant. The cheese one was fine but the bacon and cheese melt was mediocre. Overall the pub seemed very run down, the tables were sticky and the decor tired. I hate giving bad reviews but honestly couldn't find anything positive to say about the place. I would never go back there.

Always a warm welcome from Nick and his team. They go out of their way to make my boys very welcome (all 3 have learning disabilities). Food is homely and comforting.

Nick and his crew are doing a grand job at the Old Mill House in Saxtead. During storm Babet in 2023 we were unable to find a route past Framlingham. We were trapped by flooded roads in all directions. We turned a corner and found this pub, a true oasis and a godsend. We had several good beers and food over the next couple of days. Nick was a friendly and amiable chap. Next time we're passing through we'll definitely call in again for a chinwag, good beer and home cooked food. Top pub.

Disgusting that cold wet people were made to sleep in their cars, when they've been spending money sheltering from the weather. Take their money and chuck them out.

Came from Chester to visit my son who lives in Framlingham. Looking forward to a meal here. Without looking too hard at the menu,I asked for a cheeseburger but added that I didn’t want any sauces on (as elsewhere you tend to get ketchup on) the man serving us was ‘a bit off’ with me saying “you have me confused” as apparently the burgers came as I wanted anyway. The food was fine , but felt he spoiled the otherwise ok experience. I’m sure he knew what I meant , but I didn’t need to be belittled. Fortunately , I’ve had better experiences in restaurants nearby.

We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday with family for our wedding anniversary. Food was superb as was the service. Nothing was too much trouble for Nick and his staff

Made to feel uncomfortable by the very rude owner on my first visit, which will also be my last. The carvery was mediocre at best - fatty meat, mushy overcooked broccoli and soft, floppy crackling. The young waiters on duty were the only saving grace but if the owner speaks to his customers so rudely, I can only imagine how he speaks to them.

Went for lunch. Great service and good food. Thoroughly enjoyed it. My 6yr old daughter was especially fond of the pizza she ordered

Great experience at this place last Sunday, food was delicious and owner was very welcoming. My child loved the outside play area. If we lived closer we'd definitely be visiting more frequently.

All day lunch! The carvery is splendid and large. We were quite a big party and happy to say that everything arrived in a timely fashion and with a smile. The desserts are a sight to behold – they are huge! All in all very satisfactory and I’m looking forward to a return visit.

We visited the Old Mill House over the weekend and could not be happier with our experience. The building has such lovely curb appeal that we actually drove by on our way Orford Castle and decided to turn around and try it for lunch before continuing to the castle. The carvery was very good!! My husband cleaned his plate. I wanted something lighter and opted for a salmon sandwich. It was simple but very good. There is loads of parking and a large outdoor play area for the kiddos. We really enjoyed our time there and plan on returning. Highly recommend.

This is one of the best pubs!! I come to Suffolk on holiday and always eat here twice a week!! Best carvery ever!! With a large menu as well, and the desert menu has so much choice and something for everyone!! The staff are excellent and the food is amazing! Always look forward to coming here!!

Arrived on bank holiday Monday had not booked a table. The manager was very happy to seat us. He was a very happy person and he couldn’t do enough for us . We had the carvery , roast pork and beef . The dinner was so big didn’t have room for a pudding. Lovely place and fantastic food . Well done

Saw this pub was open at 2pm on a Sunday and pulled in and had a great meal with lovely service from a team of young staff supervised by a more experienced team member. The local football team were in celebrating and the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming.

Great food with very welcoming & friendly staff what more could you ask for. We will go back the next time we are in the area.

Been a couple of times when on holiday and always had good food at reasonable prices. We went with a couple of friends and every meal was plentiful and delicious. There is a huge board with desserts on offer and we can highly recommend the apple crumble, cheesecake and icecream sundaes. Dog friendly, lots of parking and children's play area.

Only one ale on after a busy weekend

Pleasant staff but only one beer on - Ghost Ship. Not criticising the selection as of course deliveries and what sells can't be helped. To me even for standard GS it tasted as if it was on the edge of being on the turn.

My family and I eat here quite often. The food is absolutely outstanding every time and the service is always superb! See you again soon

Very friendly atmosphere with a good selection of drinks, I didn't stop to eat but the menu looked great and the food looked and smells really good. A nice little wooden play area outside with plenty of room for children to run around

We had a lovely roast dinner before Christmas which was excellent. It was lovely and warm and welcoming.

What a lovely place! I went there today and they were so helpful. I’m a Coeliac and they catered for me perfectly. Friendly, polite, prices reasonable and many GF desserts too.

Stopped on the off chance for Sunday lunch and we both had the carvery. It was very tasty. The only gripe was there wasn't a massive selection of veg to choose from. Well priced and yummy.

Two carvery choices are available plus specials and restaurant menu. I have brought business colleagues here too. Not silver service or gastro pub, but good honest food and drinks. --- Updated 2022. I still eat here regularly, with both collection and eating in. Nick, Ruth and their staff are great, and the food is good tasty honest pub food including great roast carvery with often two meat choices available.😀

We popped in to ask if they could feed us early eveng after 6hrs walk. A lovely welcome and roast pork display awaited us; we had as much as we chose with nothing wasted, as all delicious and such good value.

Lovely old pub and restaurant, how pubs should be cosy and friendly. 2meals here and both excellently cooked and presented pork carvery one day, pie of the day huge topping loaded with meat, and cod loin in cheese sauce beautiful, good sized portion and loads of sauce, sweets some caused us a giggle but sen t the taste buds into action. Couldn't fault anything. Go and try it!!!

Just popped in as just passing and had a lovely carvery roast with two meats and plenty of veg. Very friendly and accommodating... fabulous if you have children as there is play equipment and seating in the large garden.

Closes at 1400 seems too quite. Apparently never gets busy. Nice looking lun though

Friendly with polite service, we selected the carvery menu which offered a selection of two meats i.e. Beef and Pork The vegetables were served by the staff on to the plate . Unfortunately the small dinner plates dictated that even with a normal portion of vegetables /potatoes food had to be piled on top of one another to get them on the plate, which we found somewhat disappointing. The beef although lean was a little hard to chew , the price for the rood was reasonable all in all worth a visit.

1st time here on are holiday and service was great and food quality was really lovely. And will come here again and next year when we come back to cabin we definitely be coming here for meals. I found this to be a great Country Pub, with an extensive garden which had swings and climbing frames for my 4 year old and stand up football goals for my 10 year old. The carvery was delicious, with the meat and vegetables being spot on, and the staff were very friendly. We returned two days later to enjoy again.
