A delicious creation of (fresh) donut, icecream, cream and chocolate sauce. The icecream was creamy & so yummy. An absolute must to visit this shop when in Aldeburgh!

We are locals, so we appreciate how many tourists pass you by that might be tricky, but the service has decidedly gone downhill. We live very close by with 3 children who love to select their ice cream and enjoy every bite. Unfortunately, over the last 4 years we have noticed a very bad service towards customers. Almost a hate. We are told to stand back. No smiles, no warmth, all the joy of ice cream taken by the rude sad sour servers. We live locally and it’s sad.

If you go anywhere in Aldeburgh for ice cream other than H&J, you chosen 2nd best! BIG range of flavours (and colours!) true to taste - -favourite - rum & raisin. Huge scoop size - - CHALLENGE - try and get all the drips off walking down the High St. before your hand gets messy! 10 to 1 against!

Thursday 11th August - 2 x Two scoops (in cups) £8.60 Friday 12th August - 2 x One scoop (in cups) £7.10 Please explain! Good ice cream but had I realised that they had inflated the prices on the Friday but that much I would have gone elsewhere. It’s the kind of ploy I’d expect to see abroad with the tourist menu / pricing.

Beware this place. Advertised free donut with any hot drink. But you HAVE to ask. When enquired staff said. " I'm making rules today.

we always go in to get ice cream after our fish and chip on beach, you also can buy chocolate there but will try next time.

An ice-cream from Heaven yesterday. Mmm... delicious! Today, having refused a pud at The Lighthouse restaurant so that I could manage an ice-cream at H & J, the place was awful! The door was closed, there was a queue inside, a womman opened the door and said that there was no point in waiting because she was serving those inside the shop and then locking the door. Charming! Obviously, business is excellent. The next time I am in Aldeburgh, I shall avoid her shop.

This is one of those where you go in and you decide on two scoops, because one doesn’t sound enough, and then discover that two scoops is huge! I had mint choc chip, it was excellent, not much more to say!

So disappointing. How can churros be so poor, so stale. Clearly not cooked fresh, as completely dried out. A dental challenge in fact! Spotted shop on Tuesday, saved for a treat today. If not enough trade to warrant making up batter, please take them off the menu. So fed up. We did not return to complain as we should. They went in the bin I'm afraid.

This was the best ice cream we have had in ages and such an amazing variety of unusual flavours and it didn’t cost and arm and a leg to buy. Service was very friendly too.

Amazing churros and super friendly staff. Very accommodating with giving us a mix of dips. Cakes, ice cream and truffles looked amazing too.

Called in here to get takeaway coffees and ice creams. We waited in line, socially distanced and had already made our choices when we reached the counter. A cafe latte please and a flat white. Server asked - do you want one shot or two in the latte as latte is a very milky coffee (oh really?). Errr, how strong is your coffee? I asked. I've never been asked that before. Well, she says, this is the size of your cup and cafe latte is a milky coffee so one shot or two? I'll not bother with the latte, just make the flat white please and then the ice creams. You'll probably need 2 shots otherwise latte will be too milky, she says. Don't bother with the latte, just give us the flat white and then ice creams please. Hmmph, I'll make the flat white while you make your mind up!! she says We've made up our minds so please just make the flat white and then 2 tubs x 2 scoops of ice cream, one vanilla and choc and one turkish delight and choc. Thank you. She continued to hmmph and sigh. Eventually we got the flat white and the ice creams while she continued to huff and puff. I really was dying for a coffee!! Surely, a cafe latte should have the right amount of coffee for the size of the cup?? Never known such a fuss and poor attitude over a cup of coffee. I had a taste of the flat white and it was very good. Ice creams were nice too. Pity about the po-faced server - she let the place down badly. Would only recommend if you don't want the third degree about coffee shots in a latte

Durning our stay near Aldeburgh we ended up visiting here 3 times! All the ice cream was so lovely. We couldn’t stay away!

Exceptional chocolates and biscuits. The Adnams ones are to die for. This could be my new go to chocolate shops. A must visit if in the area. Even if outside find a way to get their chocolates 😀

Initially you may think these gelatos are pricey but they are worth every penny .Delicious with a variety of flavours to suit every diet and budget .the gelato you never want to end

A must when you visit, there are others that are reputed to be the best but H&J is really good and because of its location never a long queue. Salted Caramel to die for, went back the next day for more 👍🏼

5 star ice cream, very like Italian recipe and excellent range of flavours. We love it. always has a long queue in summer, and spring and autumn weekends. A great sign.

Every times we're in the area I have to come here. Decent selection of ice cream and the portion size is very generous. 3 scoops is probably in the region of half a litre of ice cream and it's taste amazing. Hands down the best...

Many coffee shops only do soya so it is always really lovely to find a place that serves other alternative milks.

Exceptional ice creams and a wide range of flavours. Generous portions to the point of ridiculousness. A firm favourite. (Consider a takeaway tub, they are great value.)

I am a local and normally stop by on my way to and from work. Always the most yummy ice cream in a great range of flavours. Dairy free is a great feature too as next time I will be able to bring my dad....

We visited the shop on Saturday and was served by an outstanding member of staff. The lady was so helpful to my Mom and myself. I didn't catch her name, I just remember she wasn't very tall. Her knowledge about the flavour icecream was outstanding. We will definitely return. Thank you.

If you do when thing when you are visiting here, do this! The ice cream is out of this world,the only downside is choosing which one you want and thinking how many trips you can fit in while you are on holiday.

This place caught our eye whilst we were visiting Aldeburgh. The ice cream is incredible, some of the best we’ve had! The “Rolo” flavour was particularly good. We loved this place so much that we also bought some of their chocolate bars and hot chocolate so we could continue our experience at home. Needless to say we’ve not been disappointed! Whilst it’s sad that they don’t sell online (we don’t live nearby and would definitely be regular customers), I guess it’s better for our waistlines because if we lived in Aldeburgh we’d eat here everyday!

I can take leave ice cream - but this is seriously good!! Salted Caramel is devine. Am not a coffee drinker but am told H and J's is excellent.

Lovely coffee, great food, but go to meet the wonderfully cheerful lady behind the counter. You are guaranteed to leave a lot happier than when you arrived.

We tried the coffee,chocolate and mandarin orange flavoured gelato in the cafe.The cakes and chocolates looked delicious and the staff were friendly and enthusiastic about their products.

Visited here on an overcast Saturday, although this did appear to stop the desire for ice cream. The shop offers a few indoor seats to enjoy hot drink and cake or ice cream as well as some appetizing chocolate to buy and enjoy or as a gift. Very good coffee and adds to the establishment up the coast at Southwold. Interior a little cramped but worth shuffling in and around the tables. Ice cream is available in cones or tubs in both adult and child portions in a variety of flavours.
