This chip shop looked good we ordered fish and chips paid and waited and waited... I have never waited so long for fish and chips in my life, if only the server advised of a wait time. Three people were working behing the counter, there was no indication how long the wait was going to be but it seemed outside orders were being processed. A local came in, paid and went away, i thought they know something I dont, very annoying for customers waiting in the queue, melting to death in the window. I always order a pineapple ring, not on the menu. Wish i had gone to the other fish shop. Maybe the owners could develop a system where walk in customers are also important.

Lovely friendly staff, fab fish and chips, great curry sauce. Well worth hunting out this little shop - who needs chips fried in anything other than vegetable oil!!! Always great being handed a box full of chips.

Following a recommendation from a previous holiday-maker in our cottage, we visited the shop during the early evening and we're so pleased that we did. The haddock was cooked to perfection and the batter was really light ... just the way we like it. The chips were also very light and tasty. We've had lots of fish and chips takeaways at home and on holiday and there was nothing to fault about our order. Ordering at a desk and receiving the food via a window at the front of the premises was a rather quirky experience (a new one to us) but the food only took about 5 minutes to appear and it was piping hot and very fresh. We've never tasted haddock like it before now. If we return to Leiston in the future then the Traditional Fish and Chips at 'the bottom of the hill' in High Street is a definite stop. Thanks.

Worst fish and chips I have ever eaten! So disappointed the 'large' fish was soggy and the chips were tiny would hate to see a small portion, the piced onions were rotten! Will definitely not be going bavk

We live locally, and after trying most places in the area (including Aldeburgh etc) this is our favorite place. They’re consistently good, never had a bad meal. Whilst it can be slow to prepare, the fish is freshly cooked and always full of flavour so it’s never been an issue for us. The people who run this place are all lovely, always a pleasant exchange when ordering etc. Prices are good and it’s cash only but there’s an ATM across the road

Decent local Fish and Chips. They have a window to pavement where you order rather than going in which I thought was good. Make sure to ask for any topping such as salt and vinegar at point of placing order as they don't ask when it is ready.

Had Fish and chips delivered Saturday 11/11 21.They were hot and well cooked. The chips were light brown and the fish was just right. Batter perfection. Mushy peas perfect . Top grub.

Despite them giving a time to collect the take away, they were 20 minutes late. Added with the chaotic scrum to collect or pay through a small window just adds to this unusual experience. Parking is nearly non existant but this can't be controlled by the proprietor. When we did get the food it was lovely. But in my view not worth all the hassle.

We ordered for delivery due to lock down. Efficient ordering service and the Haddock was huge and delicious & the chips were lovely.

Whilst staying on local caravan park, we ordered delivery, very friendly person on the telephone and Neil who delivered it was very friendly too It was a good price for fantastic fish and chips.

Horrible place to go for fish n chips, messed up my order and gave me scampi instead of a sausage, and I despise scampi! The fools that run this sorry excuse of a shop need to fix up big time, do not recommend!!

These handsdown are the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had I was feeling very ill after eating them and then the next day unfortunately I was sick and highly do not recommend coming here they were very soggy and the staff were very unfriendly.

Nice fish n chips at a good price. We waited 30 minutes past our order time for them though which was a disappointment. I was shocked that they do not take cards for payment ( cash only) and that there was a whole load of people hanging around outside waiting for their very late orders. This poor way of handling current social distancing advice puts me off going there again.

Yes, that's right, it's the best local fish and chip shop, certainly in Leiston, and most probably better than the Aldeburgh ones. Indeed as some of the reviews say, it's sometimes a long wait, the place is mostly busy, and the service is quite slow, and hey you could be waiting 15 mins, but I think it's worth it. They do not open late, so if you want to try it, you will need to get there early. PS, I've seen queues of 25/30 people waiting to get fish and chips in Aldeburgh in the summer, and I think this place is far better

I have a family of 5 and this place is always good for feeding and keeping every individual happy. Wait times can be a little longer than desired but its a satisfying meal once it comes. Staff sometimes look a little run off their feet. Good value!

30 minute wait for cod and peas is a little extreme food good when it eventually arrives. The queue had only 3 customers so was not busy.

The batter is very poor, they deep fry a very low grade of sausage coupled with extremely slow service. Avoid at all costs.

We have bought fish and chips here a few times and they taste great. No lard used here. Warm friendly staff small waiting area but then you don’t wait all that long and the locals are always friendly.

Awful!!!! Save your money. Went there hopeful given the reviews however waiting time longggggg which wouldn't have bothered me if the food was worth it. Burger was like rubber and cold, chios, barely any even for regular and we're also cold. Won't be going there ever again. Waste of money and if I wasn't so hungry I'd have taken it back and asked for a refund 😡😡👎👎👎👎👎

Slow service, waited over 40 minutes for sausage and chips and cod and chips! The lady on the till was unorganised and really has no clue what was going on! Fish and chips ok, but have had much better in the past! Food was cooked to order, but hit overly busy so goodness knows why it took so long!

To those in the know this takeaway trumps Aldeburgh. Absolutely delicious fish and chips done in vegetable oil(beef drippings in Aldeburgh:. On a fine day a few minutes drive to A Sizewell beach to enjoy them! Closed on Sunday and last orders by 7.30 throughout the week.

Very traditional chips, the taste reminded me of when I was a child, staff are friendly and the prices are average. I am staying local to this fish and chip shop and I have had take-away from here twice this week so it must be good.

This is a nice little place located at one end of Leiston high street. It was very busy but well worth waiting in the queue, the fish and chips were delicious.

Lots of staff could be quicker and could have a few fishes fried on a Friday night instead of having to wait but not bad

Visiting the area and was recommended this fish and chip shop by locals - it didn’t disappoint. Chips were fantastic and plenty of choice of fish and accompaniments. Lovely friendly service and all freshly cooked.

Had tried the fish &chip; in Aldeburgh but we weren’t impressed and this one was nearer. We were staying in Knodishall at the time - glad we did, it was lovely and all freshly cooked. Recommended

Best Chippy in Leiston, but closes too early in the evenings. Fish sizes are too small but their sausages are really good and the portion sizes of chips are good. Very tasty chips :)

We bought two portions of cod and chips (no haddock available). The disappointment started as soon as I opened the packs. The batter was so thick in some places the inside was completely raw and there was more batter than fish, which itself was totally tasteless. There was a mound of chips, but having been asked if large portions were required and giving a definite no thanks, there were many to put on the plate. We will definitely not use this take away again.

Strange way of service. Queue, order then wait. No buffer of fish etc. Friday 5.00 pm you would think 10. 20 pieces of fish cooked ready for tea tome rush. Apart from that very tasty

Staff hate eye contact so it takes ages to get served. Food is only cooked to order so takes ages, however at least it's hot and fresh (once you get it). Hardly ever open though.

We have been visiting Leiston for many years, but always got our fish & chips from Aldeburgh. About 3 years ago we were recommended the Leiston shop. We were thrilled as it was delicious. The fish was chunky & juicy and the chips were great too. We went for our yearly visit this time & to our horror the fish was small, flaky & tasteless! Was so disappointed. Don't know what has happened?

Drop in here while passing. My expectations were low however what a find. Family run business...hard working and very friendly , had to wait for my fish cake to be cooked, crispd were fresh and nicely cooked. Reasonable prices.

Food pretty good which is the main thing I guess but been here twice in a week and on both occasions they had no chicken or haddock. Also without trying to sound too disrespectful and probably failing badly but check your change as the lady works out the prices in her head and doesn't always get it right

Numerous fast food restaurants close-by but this is the best for fresh cooked to order fish and chips My kids love it. Usual pies sausages burgers also available.
