Had the 'noon pie' and smoked salmon and cream cheese open sandwich. Amazingly good. In fact, in your life you will encounter pies you dream about. This is one of them, can't wait to go back! I went back! Pie was just as good as I remember. Also had a lunch box, lovely selection of fish. We enjoyed it so much, we went back to get a smoked mackerel for each of the kids. I don't think it would be possible to get a nicer bit of fish, buttery soft and just the right amount of smokyness, whilst still tasting like fresh fish. Well worth going out of your way for.

Popped in after walking the dog … such a friendly atmosphere and great personal service, wonderful cappuccino with real chocolate on top and cinnamon as well as a delicious home made scone … we were made to feel very welcome as was Dillon who enjoyed his treats and fuss :) .., Will be back!

We went to the Wentworth three weeks ago, for a couple of days much needed break. We have stayed at the hotel before and always look forward to returning. The hotel and staff are delightful. We must firstly mention the organisational, front-of-house genius of Hannah, who sorted out changing our room allocation with ease. This was not a logistical challenge for the faint hearted but Hannah made it seem like a breeze! Hannah is a wonderful ambassador for the Wentworth - smiling, welcoming and so efficient. In the dining room we could not have asked for lovelier waitresses. A huge thank you to Jamie and Lavinia who are first class in their roles. Nothing was too much trouble for them - we were so well looked after - what lovely people. We look forward to seeing you again soon ladies! Finally, I would like to thank the chef who made the finest raspberry posset I have ever eaten. Yum! I hope it’s still on the menu when we return.

Very friendly service, nothing too much trouble. I had booked a table, but wheñ we arrived quickly realised I needed to ask for a different table than planned as my elderly parents might struggle with stairs down to the lower part of the eating area.. all quickly rearranged, no problem.. our little dog was also happily accommodated and a bowl of water quickly brought when requested. Such a nice manner. Everyone happy with their food. Everywhere nice and clean. Lovely traditional pub with lots of history. Kindness counted for a lot. Thank you.

We were a group of 19, all with Basset hounds, that were made to feel very welcome. This is definitely a very dog friendly pub that does great food that’s reasonably priced. (All our group said how much they enjoyed the food). This is the second time I have been there and can’t fault it. The garden room is perfect for groups like ours. Many thanks, Kent Basset Waddle.

Walked in for a meal this evening. Despite not having a reservation we were made to feel very very welcome and a table was made available. The food was outstanding, very tasty and fresh. Front of house was brilliant, tonight a one man fantastic band! Highly recommended and would love to come back & try other dishes.

This is now actually called the Alde Cafe. I’ve been twice in the last three days. There are fancier places along the High Street, but you will not get a better meal there than you will find at the Alde. Sean is a brilliant cook who prepares every dish with both flare and a respect for tradition. It was the best fry up I have had in the last twenty years, and a welcomed alternative to the recent tendency of serving them up in thali dishes, with about a tablespoon of beans in one and a cubic centimeter of toast in another. I just had the kedgeree, which was magnificently prepared with haddock from the smokehouses along the Shingle. There are many reasons to come to ever-beautiful Aldeburgh. But I’d rank breakfast or lunch at the Alde Cafe at the very top of my list.

Had breakfast here Saturday, it’s a good job we used satnav as you’d never find it otherwise. Reduced menu was being served as chef at a wedding but choice on offer was perfectly adequate. An old fashioned greasy spoon. We really enjoyed the food, the produce seemed to be good quality and it was very reasonably priced. The 3 ladies working there were also lovely. The only negative was the overpowering offensive smell in the toilets. It was so bad I couldn’t even use the toilet and had to come straight back out again as the smell was making me physically heave. It was a mixture of a strong chemical smell mixed with the smell of a septic tank. I’m glad we ate before I went into the toilet as if I’d have gone in before ordering we’d have just left. To be clear although an update would not go a miss the toilets looked physically clean so I don’t know what was causing the smell but it needs sorting as it was unbearable. A shame as food and service were great

Excellent high end (for Aldeburgh) restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was very competent, personal and friendly. We enjoyed the asparagus and the mains in particular. The fish and chips were very good, but there were more interesting things on the menu.
