This little diner is situated just as you enter the high street. I would say it’s a colourful collaboration of retro meets kitsch and funky as hell. The two ladies that run it were super accommodating. Highly recommend the tuna open sandwich. The real star though was the home made slaw. Banging.!

Concept good…. That’s about it really, pancakes and breakfast roll average. Didn’t get our coffees and asked the waitress if we could have them, she looked rather bemused and apologised. She had served 5 other drinks and then run out of coffee!! Told her not to bother. If she spent less time singing and wandering about behind the counter she would have seen she needed to put more coffee on? Perhaps try having two pots going together. Won’t bother with another visit

Found this in a soggy drive through of Aldeburgh. Quick park up and in we went. The inside is small and the decor is quirky and we all sat (being of a certain age!) looking and remembering the items on display. Service was quick and freshly cooked. The food was good two had pancakes syrup and bacon and egg and my egg was cooked as requested. One had pancakes and cream and her day was made with sprinkles. I was pleased to see just the right amount of maple syrup - a lot of places give you too much and leave you swimming in it. One has a pot of tea to herself and was very happy. The lady (Delphine herself perhaps) and the cook were really friendly but not intrusive. It was just right for a sudden find!

Sat at one of the outside tables, waitress very pleasant and took our order. Lots of singing from her and who I assume was the chef. Drinks arrived promptly but after about 45 minutes no sign of food, Caesar salad and a Burger, so my partner popped inside to make sure we hadn’t been forgotten. The waitress was apologetic, my partner said it was fine as we hadn’t got anywhere to be and it was polite banter. A couple of minutes later the chef came out and started telling us off. He said that all the food and ingredients were freshly prepared (constantly repeated this) and that it was busy, approx 4 people sat inside, so could we be patient saying that we had upset the waitress and that it didn’t look good in front of other customers us chasing our food! Well the salad arrived and we waited and waited so I told my partner to start eating. After another 20 minutes my food arrived. My partner had already finished his food. We went in to pay and the chef was at it again telling a lady that it was cash only and couldn’t she read whilst stabbing his finger toward a sign on the open door. He then started on us again blathering on about his flipping ingredients. Well I couldn’t help myself and said if he stopped the incessant karaoke singing then he maybe able to prepare his fresh ingredients and actually serve two dishes at the same time.

We found Delphine's on our way to the beach. It is a fantastic little island of kitsch 1950's Americana is what is otherwise a very lovely, but one note, high street (think Waitrose By The Sea). I had my very very food fussy 12 year old daughter, Paddy, a well behaved Labradoodle and my daughter's sugar loving friend with me. My daughter asked for a special order, (burger with plain bun, and chips, no relish, no salad) which the lovely man cooking and even lovelier waitress made it very clear was not a problem. When we arrived, there was only a two seater in the corner available, and, as there were three of us, I asked if we could move to a bigger table if one became available. That was also not a problem and as soon as a bigger table was free, they prioritised cleaning it up, and we moved. Some of the fresh ingredients needed for the milkshakes on the menu hadn't been delivered that morning, but we had that explained before we ordered. My daughter's friend ordered an Oreo Milkshake which was bigger than she was. She finished it. We all had different burgers and they were all absolutely delicious. When we go back to Aldeburgh, we will be heading there again!

Well the choice of American culture influenced drinks and shakes here is just most excellent, I had a Dr. Pepper float, which was so divine I had to have another one. It wasn't cheap, but worth it. Hot dog was lovely as were the fries, great taste, although the wait was long, as we came in with a crowd of people at the same time (only a small restaurant). Have been coming to Aldeburgh for years and never tried this place before, small interior so book, and tables are a little cramped. But this is a little moan. Loos weren't working when we went, so popped around the corner to the pub. Overall an enjoyable meal, and satisfied cravings for an American dinner meal.

A relaxed 50's style diner in Aldeburgh. Quirky decor and background music to match - chef does provide a bit of vocals but who can resist singing along to a bit of Elvis? Had late breakfast - Lumberjack special (pancakes, maple syrup bacon, fried egg) and sausage bap with scrambled eggs. All freshly prepared and tasty. Yes you need to be patient but then there is only two people...and it isn't fast food. Staff are friendly and the fact that they welcome well-behaved dogs is a real bonus; fair prices too. Bring along a sense of humour and you should enjoy!

Arrived without a booking, which was lucky as other diners were arriving after us when the tables were full. Cash only but the staff allows for ordering before going to the cash point (a couple of mins away, at Co-op). The service isn't fast but it's nice and fresh. Targetted this place as last time we were in Aldeburgh we'd spotted its boasts of vegetarian / vegan food. This time, we were encouraged further by a laminated vegan menu stuck to the door, though this was not in evidence when we sat down. One menu/drinks list had felt tip scores across it -- guess those items were all 'off'.This is a tiny place which could be cosy and fun, but the atmosphere was a strange mix of grim, determined munching by the only other couple in the place, and the relentless singing and whistling to an over-load radio by the gentleman behind the counter. Perhaps he was bored, having driven all his customers away? Perhaps it was sheer lack of self-awareness? We'll never know: the atmosphere was so intrusive and oppressive that we upped and left.

For food alone I’d recommend this establishment. The owner or manager (I don’t know which) is eccentric, he sings and hums constantly but you know we’re all different and it didn’t bother us as it has others reviewing on here. Delhine's is a tiny diner with 4 tables and a couple of bar stools and promises an American Diner experience with lots of ice cream sodas and american kitch. Unfortunately it fails to deliver. The chef cooks in the open plan kitchen and for some reason sang constantly the whole time we were there, stopping only to patronise the waitress, snap our heads off when we dared asked for some salt and to start a fight with a poor woman who dared to ask if she could reserve a table. "I'm not going to ask any of my customer to leave' he bellowed at her. It really was quite an unpleasant experience being in there. I ordered the prawn salad, this being Alderburgh I was tempted by the Atlantic prawns on the menu. I expected them to be frozen but I didn't expect them to be smallest, cheapest prawns you can find at the cash and carry. They couldn't do an iced coffee, or serve a coffee over ice, but generously agreed to serve a coffee, and a glass of ice so I could pour it on myself. The coffee was instant and horrible. My husband ordered a ginger beer and was told that that was only available on the winter menu. Not sure why they gave us the winter menu to choose from. I have never given a bad review on Tripadvisor before as all restaurants have bad days and I try to find the positive when eating out but this place takes the biscuit. Terrible service, uncomfortable atmosphere and poor quality food.

We stumbled across this place and loved the diner aesthetic, and were thrilled to find they were even dog friendly. We got a cheesy veggie dog and a chilli veggie dog and they were really tasty and we felt they were good for the price, as it came as a full meal with chips. We even had a cream soda each which topped it off nicely. The staff were friendly and the service was really fast to say there was just one chef in the kitchen at the time and the diner was almost full. It's relatively small but just about the right size!

Popped in here for a cup of tea before a walk around Aldeburgh. Husband went in and ordered and paid and then came and sat down outside where we were sitting as it was such a lovely day. After 10 minutes a young female waitress came out and asked us if we were waiting for our tea, to which my husband replied we were. Another five minutes passed and then the same waitress came out with our tea in two grubby mugs and practically threw them onto the table at us!! The tea was stewed, no further milk or sugar was offered and it wasn’t hot, the teabags had obviously been sitting in the mugs for too long as there was scum on the top. Very disappointing, we thought it looked such a nice place to go, but as regular visitors to Aldeburgh we won’t be going again and won’t be recommending this cafe.

Unfortunately our breakfast was rather disappointing - my vegetarian option was so greasy I ended up feeling queasy for the rest of the day. Attracted by the offer of many ice cream sundaes, and salads on the menu, we went in, as this was our first time in Aldeburgh. However, I’m sad to say, it was a let down. What appears at first glance to be a friendly cafe in the American ‘diner-style’ is in fact not very well managed, with inaccurate waitress service (the young waitress didn’t take the very simple order down or communicate it correctly so we were served one wrong thing and not the second part of the order after what had already been a bit of a wait; when we asked where the missing item was we were told two desserts had been put together in one dish - weirdly, as this was not requested at all - rather than served as two separate desserts, one for each customer. So we had to wait a long time again to half rectify the mistake). No proper apology was forthcoming, no thank you for understanding we got things wrong, or for the terrible slowness and inconvenience, when we settled the bill. So an hour was spent there eating just a salad and an (inaccurately made) dessert. For almost £6 for each ice cream neither of which tasted that good or special in the end, I think both the service and the food could have been much better. As there were only two of us there, the tardiness was a mystery too. We had also been told a couple of items were not available on the menu (‘sorry we’ve run out’) and it was only 2pm. A small biscuit was put on the dessert for decoration instead of the ice cream wafers promised on the menu. Then half way through our time there suddenly the WC was ‘out of order’. Naturally that can happen anywhere, but it just seemed to sum up the general ‘things don’t work here’ vibe, which is a pity. When we walked further into the town we found Aldeburgh has several lovely eateries, cafes and ice cream shops. Overall our conclusion was that we felt rather disappointed at Delphine’s Diner.

A big mistake was made with the clear order we gave and all we got was ‘this happens’. Overpriced. Virtually empty when we visited but very difficult to get attention from anybody. The salad was titivated from a bag and overpriced. We ordered two sundaes and ended up with one that was an amalgam of both and two spoons. forced ourselves to eat as could not afford to waste £12 on ice cream. had asked for a cherry on the top and got six glacé cherries mixed in with ice cream? If you didn’t understand the order, why not ask for clarification? No apology but the worst was a very clear and sullen lack of a ‘thank you’ when we paid, in cash as no cards accepted. Was going to forgive and forget but we are fed up with this kind of useless service. Avoid.

We went there for a late breakfast, mainly because this was the only place which seem to be serving hot breakfast that late. Im not big fan of the ambient, its very retro, but with all the bits and pieces it kind of create an impression of being unclean and dusty (but its subjective). The gentleman serving us was at the same time the cook as well, and seem to be slammed by the fact that there were 2 of us and than another couple arrived after. He was really nice and friendly, however I cannot forgive the burnt omlette I received. I mean this is the easiest job in the kitchen, so wonder where they would get with a more complicated food item. Nothing was amazing, coffee was rather average, my omlette was burnt, overall when the bill arrived I felt we paid too much for the food provided. Will never return for sure.

Just back from a family meal at this delightful cafe. The service was friendly and efficient and the burgers were delicious, came fully loaded and with home made slaw and fries. Lots of lovely little 50’s touches. We left full and happy.

Unfortunately our Saturday night family dinner was ruined by bad food and poor service. The “skin-on fries” were fried so much that that’s all they were - skin! No potato left (definitely not like the fries shown in the pictures!). Never been served anything quite like it. But what made things worse was the cook’s reluctance to admit to her shortfallings when we asked for new fries. She reluctantly served another small basket for all 4 of us after we’d virtually finished the rest of our food. Although the 2nd small batch were better, the customer service was appalling and left us regretting our choice of restaurant. We were also underwhelmed by the non-chocolate tasting chocolate milkshake and over priced American beverages. The only good thing about the visit was the burger but unfortunately it wasn’t good enough to make us want to go back - ever!

Strange place . The idea is to be a 1920s American diner and supposedly prides itself in vegetarian food and milkshakes . Trouble is that in the 1920 s in this country you could only get powdered milkshake and that is what you get ! American diners have rather moved on from that . The orange juice is cheap concentrate . The other annoying thing is that there is no functioning loo . In fact I have my suspicions that a loo doesn't even exist as the out of order sign has been on the door for about 3 yrs .

We visited this tiny phage on a chilly Tuesday morning in October to find it almost full. All three tables were taken and the only space left was two stools at a breakfast bar. We sat there but luckily one table became free and we moved to he more comfortable. Service was a little slow and the waitress seemed to lack confidence. We ordered two King breakfasts and tea. The food is cooked to prefer and arrived about 20 minutes later. Unfortunately the plate only had one egg rather than the two that should’ve been. We had to query this at the counter but the cook was apologetic and soon brought our missing eggs. The food was hot and delicious, with locally sourced and good quality ingredients. The bacon was especially deli and cooked to perfection. Overall a good experience and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Aldeburgh.

We went to Delphines for breakfast last week having been several times when we were in Aldeburgh last year. Sorry to say it wasn t as good as I remembered - the veggie breakfast seemed to have shrunk with “one tomato” now meaning I’ve half not even a full one ! The kids looked forward to their pancakes with maple syrup but also days they were both different - and not in a good way - to last time. Also no music/radio on which made for a bit of a subdued atmosphere.

Having seen that Delphine's Diner has now arrived in Felixstowe I couldn't resist taking a look at their veggie options for their new, larger than Aldeburgh, premises on the seafront. What a surprise, rather than the vegetarian and/or vegan options being the 'if we must' part of many restaurant menus, Delphine's extensive burger and hotdogs selections were all offered in both meat and meat-free versions. How refreshing. I went for the 'Squeaky' burger, which was a tasty spiced chick-pea based pattie with halloummi melted on top. It came with all the usual burger trimmings, plus a well dressed salad, homemade fries and a side slaw. The only down side was that the food was falling off the plate. I'd definitely recommend this diner to veggie friends and family for a no-fuss lunch or early evening meal.

Visited for lunch and sat outside as good weather. I went in to order my open sandwich , same for my husband, plus two cokes. We waited a long time although not very busy despite being carnival day. Basically we got two slices of bread with filling on top. My cheese could have been grated to look more professional but it was just sliced cheese that I do at home. Pickle was good but too much of it but that’s just my taste . Salad on the side.

The premises are full of character and the menu had a good variety of options for vegetarians. U fortunately they were out of veggie burgers but the hotdogs were delicious. There was a wait for the food but there were signs telling us about good food not fast food. Enjoyable lunch.

Vegan hotdog, skin on chips, wonderful! Very helpful friendly manager :) An excellent addition to Felixstowe, closely positioned near to the new Pier who at the mo are lacking in vegan options so this is a perfect alternative.

A pastiche southern US 1940s diner, playing rockabilly music, with burgers and shakes far too large for most stomachs. By no means haut cuisine. But loved by all children.

We have been to Delphine’s a number of times and EVERY time it’s just delicious. Went this morning for breakfast - buttermilk pancakes, bacon and maple syrup - just divine. And the service is exceptional. A little treat for our dog (we sat outside) and lovely conversation. So excited to hear they are opening in Felixstowe. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Homemade, great quality beef burgers. Lovely crisp skin on fries. Fresh accompanying salad with a tasty dressing and deli style coleslaw. Sundaes with Rossi ice cream and fresh whipped cream (not the plastic out of a can spray stuff). Really great family run restaurant. Not to be missed :)

I find some people's reviews fascinating. It feels like people go to a diner and expect Michelin food and toady service. It is neither of these things; it's great food in a fun place. I'd easily take Delphine's over both those impostors in a fifties flash.

Just wandering around Aldeburgh we had already had a large late breakfast and were out for a three course meal in the evening so just needed a little something for the hunger gap. Delphines was a great choice where we enjoyed a beautiful milkshake each with some fries.

What a gem this place is! We only stopped for a mid-afternoon Ice Cream Sundae but wished we'd gone earlier for lunch when we saw the food being brought out. The sundaes were indulgent and the Cherry Soda was amazing! The decor is delightful and the staff were chatty and friendly. Definitely on our return list when back in Suffolk.

Looking for somewhere to have breakfast, parked right outside Delphines and popped in. Waitress came straight over with menus, we ordered frothy coffee and two breakfasts. The coffee was lovely, in fact I had two cups. The breakfasts would have been perfect had the bacon not been over cooked and dry and had they offered jam or marmalade with the toast. Maybe a little overpriced. But it is worth a try.

Waitresses were very polite although under staffed. Very disappointed in our meals. Starter was overcooked.. the chicken burger was burnt although the chips were great.. the coleslaw mayonnaise and onion rings were cheap quality. Dessert was delicious.. best part of our meal. Unfortunately we wouldn’t reccomend or come back. The restaurant itself is run down.. windows needed a clean at our sea view.. toilets were disgusting.. I walked in and walked out.. I couldn’t use the toilets.
