The best restaurants serving Default food in Newark and Sherwood East Midlands

Beautiful people, happy to stay for one night

Whenever I find myself in Newark this is the place to stay, close enough to the center and has ample parking. Rooms are clean and warm, the staff always make you feel welcome

They do a great breakfast here and also a great breakfast buffet. Lots of other food options too..The place is kept incredibly clean, we come back regularly :)

very disappointed. was cold. was soggy. the chips were awful. we binned it. normally really enjoy the pizza. sadly not today. ordered house chilli and got garlic mayo 😢

Two rooms booked for 4 adults. My wife and I arrived first and thought we would check in whilst waiting for our friends. Discovered that they had overbooked and wanted to give us one room with two double beds. Tried speaking with 4 different staff members but nobody could tell us how this happened. The 2 men were extremely rude and just not interested. Would never book here again. They eventually found a room in a different hotel for our friends and we finished up leaving and booking in there as well

We came here to try the Sunday dinner as it will soon be our local, the food was fantastic, I had the pork belly and my wife had the beef, both cooked to perfection, and the selection of veg was great (no leeks thank god) the gravy was awesome, just needed a slice of bread to mop it all up! The kids roast was spot on as well! For dessert had the burnt basque cheesecake, the sticky prune pudding and the chocolate cake, all were amazing, we will be back to try the rest of the menu in the future 👏🏻

Went to this restaurant a year ago and had an amazing meal, couldn't fault, so when me and four friends wanted to get together for a pre birthday meal, we all agreed on the Lion. Unfortunately not sure what has happened but my food was awful, the chips were oven chips that hadn't been cooked properly and were cold, the pulled pork and vegetables were lukewarm at best, the molten pepper jack sauce was so cold it had a skin on, not sure what happened to the aioli and the crispy onions, didn't seem to have any. I then had to sticky toffee pudding which was dry and rubbery, the only good thing was the toffee sauce, not impressed for £37.00. Also the restaurant was very cold.

I don’t know Joel B but he’s really knows his food that lad. Wish I’d have read his expertly informed and well written review before I had the misfortune to make the same mistake. I bet he drives a bad ass Czech saloon too!

Great experience. Jo our server was very attentive and service was very quick. Food was nice and filling. Would definitely recommend.

Our first visit, very impressed, modern interior, plenty of space, very attentive staff. Menu , not huge, but good choices. When food arrived it was very nicely presented and extremely tasty. Must mention the mushroom risotto, which had decent chunks of mushroom,really enjoyed, desserts were great. Will definitely put on list for another visit.
