Went for afternoon tea for my daughter’s 13th birthday. Lovely, friendly staff. Rachel was our waitress and she couldn’t do enough for us, very friendly and made a fuss of my daughter even getting her a birthday, alcohol free Buck’s Fizz on the house. Such a good experience we went back the following day for lunch. Thank you Rachel for helping to make my daughter’s afternoon tea special x

We were a family of 3, the restaurant was virtually empty (even with covid restrictions!). Our food was ordered and then delivered wrong! Brought correct order, food very mediocre.. Then the waitress brought another tables desserts and drinks, which we had to say were not ours again. The cleanliness was poor, and surely could not have been up to normal standards let alone current covid cleanliness. The toilets were filthy. Please don’t waste your money.

We had a decent dinner the night before and were looking forward to the croque monsieur, which sounded good on the menu. However, what arrived was not as described, rather than sour dough it was literally white sandwich bread and resembled more a pre-bought microwave toasted sandwich than the classic French snack.

My wife and I visited for tea the other evening, the food was great, however the service was really exceptional. Our waiter, Nour, was very attentive, and helped my wife find an alternative meal that she could have because of her allergies, along with the chef, Joe. We then visited for breakfast today, and Nour was there again, he had remembered all my wife's allergies and had even let the kitchen know again just in case!

Faniced a sit down for a coffee and cake but could not find any soave in the Starbucks onsite so quickly booked a place in Cafe Rouge in the Village Square as pretty empty at 12.30pm on a Tuesday. Couldn't get just coffee and a cake so had lunch. Not a huge choice really and bit pricy for lunch. All covid help in place and it was a nice pause for a while.

Had the onion soup and camambert for starter, both quite nice.Had the beef burger which sounded fancy and delicious. In reality was very basic and tasteless, worth about £7-£8 definitely not £15. My partner had the chicken which was tender and quite tasty but nothing extraordinary. Drinks choice terrible. No lagers on tap, never mind anything of quality. bottled beer extortionate. Looked to have a cocktail instead but they'd run out of 90% of them. Had to have a soft drink instead. Overall overpriced. Unlikely to return.

Went here for breakfast on our last day, and was very disappointed with the service received. I ordered the smashed avacado on sourdough, with vine tomatoes and an extra poached egg, and I got white bread, tinned tomatoes, no avacado! (Random green peppers instead) and an extremely poor quality poached egg ( see pictures for what I received!). I ordered the pancakes as a replacement as I saw my friend got them, but I got a much lower standard of pancakes than she received and one strawberry! (See picture for what she received compared to what I received!) No money off and very poor customer service. Would definitely not recommend!

Unfortunately this restaurant has deteriorated year on year. Before going any further please allow me to pay testament to the colleagues and front line workers. The value for money is incredibly disappointing. 2 thin slices of garlic bread ordered from the kids menu cost £2.50.Lacked quality and flavour. See photo.I truly appreciate that this dish is part of the kids menu and therefore bought separate it will proportionately more expensive . The cost of raw material no more than 5pence for the amount as seen and no more than 45p for the total overhead contribution. Therefore a huge mark up and the quality was poor. In comparison to their peer group on camp I would advise that they take a look at the whole package. Truly understand the trading dynamics have changed but if you continue to profiteer to such an extent then your business will fail at pace. The Uk is facing a huge recessional trading period and therefore you must offer quality and value regardless of being in the unique position of tapping into a captive audience . Do the right things !

I’m sorry to say this was probably the worst meal out I’ve ever had. The staff were fine, but the food was truly horrid. Many items were substituted in the menu (salad niçoise served with tuna (!) the sourdough toast was limp frozen baguette, I’m not even sure the steak - pale and tasteless had any beef in it!) sorry, I appreciate these are challenging times but this was awful stuff. Centre parcs is lovely over all, but this is not the jewel in your crown!

We were informed whilst ordering our food that there were no steaks at all. We found this hard to believe as steak was the most prominent dish on the menu. Of course this slowed us down having to rethink our choice. The onion soup and the pate were both good. The rest of the food was poor and tasteless. For example, an expensive chicken baguette with cold chicken, slightly warm bread, warmish chips on the bottom and cold chips on the top. The blandest salmon fishcakes I have ever tasted with barely any salmon, a salad with a request for no anchovies - although two were found on the plate. When it was mentioned to the waitress it was simply 'I did ask the chef - sorry about that' in such an uninterested manner it was clear she couldn't have cared less. The fact that there could have been an allergy problem didn't seem to enter her head.We paid a large amount of money for a meal that wasn't even worth half the amount. Not enjoyable in the slightest.

We did not have high expectations due to the problems for Cafe Rouge but were pleasantly surprised. They clearly have problems eg NO chicken ( amazing ) !!Staff very pleasant but not too organised. They are concerned about their situation. Some confusion re Cofid precautions. We were sat outside at a table for 7 basically by ourselves so it was fine. However the food and drink we had was excellent. The children had kids garlic bread, plaice goujons, mac cheese, a drink and ice cream which was good.Adults the tasty whitebait and king prawns followed by excellent duck confit and a poulet breton.Very good aperol spritz and beers to start and a nice bottle of cote du rhone and viognier.

We have been coming to centre parks for years with our last meal always being in cafe rouge, we won’t be doing that again! Barely any of the menu was available, no croques, no steak, no salad and limited cocktails. We spoke to the waitress and manager and whilst apologetic it felt a bit ‘what do you want us to do about it’. I understand this is not their fault but they mentioned having had supply issues for 5 weeks so clearly they are bored of hearing about it whilst to the customer it feels they should have rectified it by now. In future we will not be going back and would recommend anyone who is considering to think again and go elsewhere to avoid disappointment. No other restaurants on site were having these issues and once you have paid the deposit you are kind of tied in

Visiting Cafe Rouge is a family tradition when we go on our trips to Centerparcs; we always spend our last night having a meal there as it is a great place to eat. Well, that is until our latest visit. We arrived, having booked in advance due to Covid restrictions, only to be informed that the menu had been reduced. On looking at it, it had practically been obliterated. There were no steaks (which is what the place is known for and what we all wanted), no Croque Monsieurs, no beef bourguignon, no duck, no salmon, no steak baguettes. The only main meal choices were a burger, salad , fish or chicken dish. Immediately we complained, only to be rudely told that they had supply issues and “What do you expect me to do about it?” At which point my husband (whose birthday it was) went out to see if we could go elsewhere. Unfortunately there was no availability so we had to choose from the sparse selection on offer. Things worsened when there were no simple items like pink lemonade or any of the mocktails for our children. Some desserts were unavailable too. And wine!!! We made our complaints clear to the waitress, who was very apologetic but kept on saying that they had ‘supply issues’. Whilst I am completely sympathetic to the current situation, this sounded odd ; how could simple items like ham and cheese be difficult to find? The restaurant was empty by this point (9.00) which again set the alarm bells ringing. It felt like a place ready to close so I googled it and found out that yes, Cafe Rouge has gone into administration. Basically they should not have been open as they clearly have not got the infrastructure to support a viable restaurant. On speaking to the waitress further, we learned that the Centerparcs Cafe Rouge is remaining open. Based on this experience, I can’t see it remaining so for long. This is such a shame as we have had amazing meals and lovely celebrations there over the years. It is unfortunate, however, that our last meal there left such a bitter taste. The attitude of one member of staff was dreadful, whilst our waitress was lovely but clearly and visibly upset by the whole situation, which was awful to witness. I can safely say that I have never gone out for a meal before and ended up comforting a tearful waitress. Our experience of having a poor meal pales into insignificance when people’s jobs are at stake. I wish the staff well but I am utterly angry at those higher up the pay scale both in Centerparcs and Cafe Rouge who are allowing such a poor experience to continue for all.

Booked a 6pm dinner on a Sunday with 4 adults and 3 small children. We were showed to our table quickly, but then the restaurant was fairly empty and was never more than half full throughout our lengthy visit. It wasn't meant to be lengthy...Our waitress was nice enough but it was clear she'd had a tough day; items on the menu running out, apologising for slow service and so on. She proceeded to apologise to us so often (having to wait aeons for each course and round of drinks) that I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. It wasn't obvious as to why the service was so glacially slow. They didn't appear to be particularly short staffed; the kitchen seemed full, there were loads of service staff and as already mentioned it wasn't busy. There was just no urgency. You can't avoid the impression that the staff have no pride in their job. A kind of, "I currently work at a restaurant at Centre Parcs but it's only short term".The food was generally adequate, but for the prices they charge you would expect 'nice' at the very least. Our experience didn't qualify for such an extravagant description. The French onion soup in particular was more of a depressing stew, the croutons having sat in there for so long that they resembled a biscuit you've dropped in your tea.Oddly, it felt way more expensive after you've left then when you first sit down. You are talking £7/£8 for starters, £15 for mains and £20+ if you opted for a steak, which aren't crazy prices looking at the descriptions, but on reflection they are 20-30% over-priced given the quality. It is tough to work out how even the bar service was so slow given that there was a dedicated barmaid.Even by the low standards of Centre Parcs eateries, this place is poor. You are left frustrated, unsatisfied and out of pocket.

We ate here on our first day at Center Parcs and were really looking forward to it, what a disappointment, would have been better off with toast back at the lodge. The staff were very disinterested, not once were we asked how our food was, probably because they knew what we would say. When main courses came we had no cutlery so my 3 year old granddaughter got up and took some from the next table. If I was working there I would have been horrified at this and would have immediately replenished the cutlery, not here, not even an acknowledgement or apology at being so slack. Food on the poor side of average, beef in the bourginon was full of fat, macaroni cheese for kids was tasteless and I think the top fell off the salt pot when they added salt to the 'frites'. I would highly recommend avoiding this place

I’ve been visiting Sherwood Forest Centre Parcs with a group of friends on an annual basis for the past twelve years. This year we decided to try Cafe Rouge for lunch, the service was very good no problem there, my issue is with the Caesar salad that myself and another member of the group ordered. The salad cost almost £12 and was nothing short of pathetic, consisting of a handful of leaves, about a teaspoon of avocado, three anchovies, some croutons, Parmesan and a sauce. Now don’t get me wrong it did taste good, but from a value for money point of view it’s quite appalling, broken down I estimate the ingredients to cost less than a pound, considerably less in fact! A huge disappointment for the two of us and because of that it’s highly unlikely our group will make a return visit.

This is usually our favourite place to eat at Center Parcs and we come twice a year with our teenager and preteen. However, having always had good experiences and love the quality of the food in previous visits, I was disappointed with both the quality and quantity of the portions. Our waiter, Felix, was doing his best although we had to wait an hour for food to arrive. There seemed to be a lot of staff waiting on and looking busy, but there was no food coming from the kitchen! When our food did arrive, it was luke warm, the salad garnish was embarrassing and the croque monsieur crusts nearly chipped my tooth! It was very expensive when considering the quality of what we received. As a result, whereas we would normally eat there more than once during our stay, we found that Hucks provided much better quality and quantity for the price. I really hope that whatever issues are affecting the quality of provision here are remedied. Such a shame.

Went as a family of four. The food itself was good. But service appalling! We waited about 45 minutes for the main meal. With two hungry kids, that’s the last thing to spoil a meal out. No one came to ask about deserts after finishing main meal. Therefore no deserts were chosen from the kids set meals!!! Frankly by then we had enough and paid the bill by going over to the till myself as I didn’t see any waitress near our table since having the main meal. Avoid if you can! Food is slightly on the expensive side( But everything in Center Parcs is!!) with abysmal service.

Attended at Cafe Rouge where walked into the cafe. Advised about the amount of wasps outside on the patio with female staff member blocking our access from inside the premises, a former outside patio has been converted into a faceless corridor and the inside was very stuffy so we sat at another outside table at the opposite side of the building.

Whilst staying at the parc tried to get a spot of lunch for two at 13:15 ish and were turned away as fully booked. Though looking around the restaurant approx 50% of the tables were empty? I asked if we could eat outside and was told we couldn’t as the kitchen couldn’t cater for all the tables and it would mean everyone waiting too long for their food. Though we could have a drink if we wanted to!

A few meals were quite nice but the mussels were awful. Here was no need to book as here was plenty of room

We were disappointed with meal the standard was much to be desired the portion size for the poule Bretton was surprisingly small and if it had two chicken breast it would have been a moderate portion, this was mentioned to the waiter who said they are preportiomed albeit she sorted out some sliced chicken, I had a steak which was a basic standard and tastless, bearnaise sauce was a tiny portion and tastless.

Crap service. Only told a few minutes after we'd ordered mains that they'd ran out. Try to order something else, informed after a few minutes they've not got that either. Average food and overpriced. Classic chain affair.

This was easily the best food I’ve had during my stay here! And more importantly, Felix (our waiter) was courteous, polite and beyond helpful when my girlfriend and I needed help ordering. 10/10 a must-go for anyone staying at center Parcs!

We ate here in mid afternoon and were all (3 adults and 2 kids) very satisfied with our meals,my leg of duck and my wife’s half chicken were absolutely beautiful. Good efficient friendly service. Only downside I thought the food rather expensive.

We were a family group with a six month old baby, we visited twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast, on both occasions, could not fault the menu the quality of food and the gluten free options for one of our party. The service was excellent, even though the restaurant was very busy on the second visit, in particular would like to mention Helen who was very friendly and helpful on both occasions and helped make our stay at Centre Parks memorable.

What a meal. Absolutely beautiful when I had it. Others in our group were more than satisfied with their food (moules mariniere, beef bourguignon, baked salmon and others) but I was super happy with my meal. My dessert was OK. I had the beignets and chocolate sauce but the sauce was weird and lacking flavour. It turned to water in your mouth and was very plain. But that chicken makes me wanna go back

We visited as a family of 13- prices are expensive for what you get and as it's at Centre Parcs they don't accept vouchers available to use in general branches.

Visited with my husband on Tuesday 21st May for an evening meal. My husband had Beef Bourguignon and I had the salmon and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The staff were welcoming enough and efficient but not overly friendly.

We visited here for Sunday lunch with friends whilst staying at Center Parcs. The food was excellent- usually restaurant roast dinners are nothing special but this was an exception. Lots of veg, huge Yorkshire pudding & delicious beef. Pudding was very good indeed. Would definitely recommend!

Our food took the best part of an hour to arrive and our gluten-intolerant diner wasn't served the gluten-free meal that we'd ordered but a standard meal. Also we had to send back one of the children's meals as it was virtually inedible.

For the second consecutive year we visited centre Parcs in May, 3 families, 7 kids aged 3-10. Anne looked after us for both our group dinners over this busy bank holiday weekend. The food was absolutely fine but the service, patience and kindness displayed by Anne and her lovely team were exceptional - a rare experience nowadays. The staff are a credit to this restaurant. Thanks from us all!

Great food, lovely cocktails. Fab service from Yasser and a girl whose name we didn't get (but it was her first night and she did great)

Absolutely fantastic afternoon cocktails and evening meal. Lovely service from Yasser who we met in the afternoon, who then made sure he was looking after us in the evening. Beautiful food. Made our weekend away. Thank you Yasser.

Had the afternoon tea deal with prosecco. Food was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been nicer to us and the kids in our party. The best CR we’ve been in!

Stayed at Center Parcs for a long weekend with family. Pre booked Cafe Rouge for Sunday Lunch. We were seated and given a menu from which we selected our meals. As we were waiting we spotted a server bringing out an actual Sunday lunch. We asked the server if there was a Sunday Lunch menu and were told that yes a special Sunday menu did exist. Three of our party of 5 would have had Roast Beef. The server said he was happy to stand up to the chef that we wanted Sunday Lunch and argue for us if necessary. We asked if our food had been cooked and were told yes but it didn’t matter. We didn’t want to waste food so stuck with our original choices which were nice but felt a little cheated. The Sunday menu had a special set price which was better value. A member of staff came over and said she would reduce our bill by a little. My daughter ordered a veggie burger with Halloumi it came without the Halloumi so went back to the kitchen and they rectified. I ordered a steak baguette but duck came out. They sorted it. The restaurant wasn’t busy but chaos none the less. We eventually got £20 off the bill but very disappointed in service although food good.

The standard is not great, the staff were very good, the building itself could do with lick of paint as even though this was early inthe season kicks and scratches were very noticable.

This was a really poor visit. The service really let it down. Everything we asked for they said yes, but then failed to do: we asked for a group photo, they cut one member of the group out; we asked for the kids drinks to be brought with the mains, they came before the starters; we asked for sauces with our steaks, they came without; etc etc. The food when it came was uninspiring - cold and lacklustre. Overall a less than satisfactory visit at a time when they really were not busy.

We had lunch here at Gunthorpe and was very disappointed. My mother and my wife had steak pie with a sauce that tasted like disinfectant. I had the fish and chips. The fish looked grey and also tasted funny. We mentioned this to our waitress and she apologised and offered us a free dessert or drinks. We ordered coffees. Not the waitresses fault she was very nice and did her best. This was the last meal I had with my mother before she passed and thank the chef for making it memorable for the wrong reason. Dont think I will go back.
