I honestly believe that if we hadn’t actually gone into the shop (reluctant to as it was packed and no one was wearing masks) to ask where our food was I think they’d still be in making it? Rang up. To be fair. They said they were busy. A good hour and half later still no food. This place has simply nose dived in terms of the service and food. I kid you not. It was literally stone cold when we got it the 3 minute walk home. What happened to it? It used to be good service and tasty food? Steer well clear unless you order several days in advance. Actually. Just stay well clear. Awful awful awful!!

Been with them for years never had no problems .suddenly there delivery drivers don't want to give you change , want to pocket it instead . Got half my order when I complained they were suppose to send me the other half. Never received it . Honestly disappointed in all the years I been with them , that the service is shocking . Taking over an hour also to be delivered . Then gets a reply back saying they been to busy to resend rest of my order . Your a joke

Walked in after theatre around 10.15pm tonight, not expecting much. All the other Chinese restaurants on the street were closed. Empty (expected at this hour) but great food reasonably priced. First meal of the day, so I had the fried seafood chow mein, beef in black bean sauce & peppers, then decided to add a char sui egg fried rice! Generous portions too and nice friendly staff. Will come back 👍

Our experience in Master Chinese Restaurant was delightful! Lovely interior designs and a very spacious place. We had a big group, and it being a Saturday night, we were lucky to have come here. Fried Sweet Potato Fries coated with Salted Egg Salt and Pepper Tofu Lamb from the East? (something like that. This was perhaps the most impressive dish.) Beef Noodles Sour Vegetable Fish Soup Salted Egg Custard 'Pau' Our entire group thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There's also the option of Bubble milk tea is this restaurant. Master Chinese Restaurant makes for a good decision when it comes to Chinese cuisine.

Oh dear....how the mighty have fallen. We used to visit the King Neptune when my wife and I first met...30+ years ago. It was EXCELLENT!! and we were regulars there. We haven't been for around 15 years to be fair but thought we'd celebrate our wedding anniversary there. What a mistake. The Neptune used to have a fabulous large fish tank, a real centrepiece!....now gone and just a gap where it once took pride of place. The room is also starting to look a bit worn and tired. We went a la carte rather than 'banquet' style and ordered : Prawn toast, chilii salt squid as starters then chili salt king prawns, szechaun chicken, crispy beef in cantonese sauce and fried rice. Drinks were 2 small proseccos and a pint of John Smith's. The good - the chili squid, chili king prawn and fried rice were very good indeed. The bad - They don't supply chopsticks!! Only forks, I mean REALLY?? No chopsticks in a Stowell Street Chinese?? Forks only. They also don't have the heating plates they used to, the metal tray like contraption with small candles underneath to keep the food hot. Now they just plonk it in front of you on cold plates so it cools down quite quickly , not great and the food suffered as a result. The crispy beef was average at best, and became just ' yuck' once it cooled down and coagulated, I left half of it. The Szechaun chicken was just okay with no real flavour to it at all. Prosecco came in a tiny 200 ml bottle at £7.20 each!! Really? You can buy them at £2-2.50 so a fiver mark up is ridiculous. The John Smith's was £3.90, a fair price. Service is also weak, only 3 people serving in total and we had to keep reminding them they'd forgotten both drinks and one dish. Bearing in mind it cost just over £83 this was a completely forgettable experience, honestly no better than a decent quality takeaway meal. If this was a Chinese 'cafe' or lower end eatery and set us back £45-50, then I'd say it was okay, nothing more, but for a Stowell Street 'top end ' place to eat, an absolute letdown. It just looks run down with zilch atmosphere - and what is it playing Abba songs in a Chinese?? - disinterested staff and the fact that when we left at 9.10 only 7 people were eating at 3 tables sums it up. We won't be going back, sad to say as we had such great memories of the Neptune, and unless your idea of a Chinese restaurant is no atmosphere, no chopsticks, average food at top end prices and disinterested staff, you're probably better off eating elsewhere.

Absolutely disgusting service spent 70 quid on food plus delivery and a tip, sent prawns instead of chicken and when phone we have been told we have to take it back, just as well we don’t have food allergies, won’t be going here again and will also let all friends and family know how crap it is
