When you walk into this store you really do appreciate how many different beers are brewed in the northeast region of England. There is an amazing selection of beers and there is nothing better than being able to enjoy a good local brew on a long train journey. Prices are varied but value for money especially considering the quality and range of beers sold. Also excellent for any last-minute Christmas shopping you need to do before boarding the train home!
My HK friends wanted to try out this place and I was not disappointed! It is a hole in the wall sort of restaurant, most people eating are locals or workers getting a quick, cheap and easy meal during their lunchbreaks, but I can see why they'd choose this place! It's run by the family and everything feels very authentic and you can see them prepare your order right in front of you as there's no separation from the kitchen. Maybe some people would prefer something a bit more formal, but for a bunch of friends who were missing some good Cantonese food for not too expensive prices this was great. I got their HK milk tea which was deliciously refreshing and sweet, the market street platter and noodles with fried chicken. Their fried chicken is really great, captures that HK essence perfectly.
The food here is not meant to be that special or unique, but it is the real deal. And all for super cheap too! I love this place and will definitely be returning when I come to Newcastle again, I recommend it to all my friends!
Visited for Saturday brunch with 4 family members. We all tried something different and every dish was excellent - from the epic Desi breakfast to the superlative lamb biryani to the creamy chai and hearty full English, everyone left full and impressed with the delicious food. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff and the prices were very reasonable. We will be back!

This is one of my favourite places for lunch. Small, family-run, very friendly, and fantastic real food. I've been here countless times and it's always a great pleasure - I go there several times a month. It's an awesome way to recharge for the afternoon! Delicious shawarma and grilled food. Daily special, which is always worth trying - very tasty and great value, such as aubergine kebab or bean stew. Flavourful lahmacun (Turkish pizza) too. Many options come with rice or bread or fresh salad - and the bread is baked by them every day. Another great sign is how the chef subtly varies the dishes each week - different balance of flavouring, different sauces - but always very tasty.
Comida texmex absolutamente fabulosa.
Totalmente clase!

REVIEW OF WEST DENTON CAFE: I’ve breakfasted at Terry’s Cafe for a decade. I’ve had the full english (FE) in the Wolseley, the Butterfly Cafe, the Regency (mediocre), and it’s my firm belief a good supermarket cafe can really deliver in the FE game, but quality (and let’s be honest) quantity is critical in this market, which is unashamedly and quite rightly focusing on sales volume. That model is fine - in fact it’s well understood and successful. But in my view, there’s often a race to the bottom with the investment in staff.
Which is why the lady on not only the till but the tables, on the morning of 27 June, stood out.
She stood out ‘cause of the singer and lovely welcome, and spotting mam and I looking slightly pensively at a screen, was straight over advising we just come to her till to order. Mam and I both discussed, and agreed that this member of staff was an absolute credit to herself and to Morrisons. As we were both munching through our breakfasts - me, the medium FE, and mam on a requested ‘very well-done bacon sarnie’; coffee and tea, we kept mentioning how helpful she was on a number of occasions (clarifying the process of condiment provision / making sure the doneness of mam’s pig) was delivered. I hope Morrisons reward and recognise her.
The breakfast itself was a 7/10 (see pic which elucidates) Which isn’t a bad score at all in my mind. There’s not enough about the quality or scope of the main items to justify anything above, BUT, in the context of a supermarket offer, it’s a 9/10.
