The best restaurants serving Japanese food in Newcastle upon Tyne North East

Absolutely wonderful food. Sushi is top quality, beautifully hand crafted and presented and the flavour combinations are superb. We enjoyed our dinner so much we went back for lunch the following day!

Absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious, we had several dishes and all of them were amazing and beautiful flavours. Excellent service and the team were knowledgeable about the menu. I did leave my hat behind by mistake and they were great, they had already popped it safe behind the bar for me to collect the next day. Thanks all and definitely be back.

Fuimos con muchas esperanzas. Las críticas parecían buenas, así como el menú y las fotos de la comida. El personal era absolutamente encantador, el lugar era magnífico. Pedimos un rollo de sushi cada uno, ya que no teníamos demasiado hambre y teníamos poco tiempo. Los precios eran un 25% más altos que nuestro lugar de sushi favorito en Newcastle. El cangrejo de concha suave llegó primero, sabroso y bien presentado, pero una pequeña porción con solo 6 piezas delgadas por £ 16. Atún de aleta azul con mayo picante vino a continuación y era soso, no hay otra manera de describirlo. Sin especias, y parecía y sabía a mayonesa de atún que harías con ingredientes de Aldi. Presentado de forma mesurada, con unos trozos de lechuga que sobresalen del extremo y un chorrito de mayonesa. 8 piezas esta vez, pero pequeñas. Muy pobre por £ 15. Para ser justos con ellos, satisfizo la descripción de su menú, aparte de la completa falta de especias, simplemente no era bueno. Una pena que el menú y las fotos de la comida se veían excelentes. Tal vez pedimos mal, pero esperaba mucho más por £ 31. Basado en la comida sola habría sido una revisión de 1 *, pero el personal era todo encantador, de ahí el 2 *. Difícil imaginar que volveríamos ya que tendríamos 2 rollos de sushi más grandes y sabrosos, más un poco de nigiri, por el mismo precio en nuestro lugar habitual en Newcastle.

Entrego aquí con bastante regularidad. Nunca nada más que sobresaliente. No hay trucos tontos, sólo buena comida cocinada en su mesa. Recomendaría Hanahana a cualquiera.

Took clients for dinner as the setting is snug without being too intimate and there are lots of tasty plate options and alternatives. Unfortunately we arrived at different sites and only connected after 30 minutes of waiting(despite both mentioning the booking name -a glitch in the two-site system if you don't arrive as one group). Wine list is fine and lots of festive options of cocktails etc. Service a bit hit and miss as they were inducting new staff but the veterans knew the menu well and made some informed suggestions. Loved the Bau buns and octopus balls especially. Around £50per head plus drinks. A successful evening.

Visited for a birthday meal. Overall vibe was great inside, with one of the best sushi which I have ever had! Great gluten free menu, with no nuts at all on the premises for nut allergies. Generally food was slightly overpriced for what it was, and service lacked punctuality at times, with missing items and slow responses, but was overall satisfactory - when you’re visiting this sort of place however, you expect it to be perfect!

Went out for my birthday. The service was terrible, waiting over half an hour for anyone to come take our order. There was a couple behind us that came in after us and they had their order taken as they came in. My food was lovely though, enjoyed that. Few of the party said the katsu curry was bland. They didn't bring items that we asked for and we had to ask 3 times for one of our party to even get a tap water. Attitude from the servers wasn't the best at all, and no management in the say anything too. We got the service charge taken off because we complained, which is optional anyways. Unfortunately, I won't be going back.

Good variety of food. Can’t expect too much for a takeaway standard. Overall fresh and delicious. Would come back again.

No tenía la mejor experiencia aquí y no recomendaría. El chef trató de ser entretenido durante toda la noche, pero el servicio se sintió apresurado y la calidad de la comida era deficiente. Varios funcionarios estuvieron visiblemente al teléfono durante toda la noche y parecían desinteresados. Teniendo en cuenta la experiencia y la calidad de la comida, habría esperado mucho mejor teniendo en cuenta el precio extorsivo para el menú establecido que teníamos costando £ 33 por persona. This place is fantastic if you're after a Japanese meal. It's in the Chinatown area of Newcastle. The staff are so attentive and friendly. I had a really good ramen meal with a side order of tonkatsu, miso soup and a glass of yuzu sake. The prices were quite reasonable. It was just as good as any meal I've eaten in Japan itself. I will certainly come back here again.
