This is one of our very favourite restaurants in Newcastle (and anywhere actually). Such amazing food, fantastic service (Roy was a super delight) and it was such a joyful experience. Our son who has a severe nut allergy was very well cared for. There is such clarity on the website and in the respectful and attentive service. Hugely recommended & when we return we’d love to repeat the whole evening - it was v memorable

What an incredible spot this is, from the second we walked through the door we were met with a lovely warm welcome. Taking us through the menu & an overview of Miso. We opted for some small plates and cocktails, all with beautiful flavours and textures. The standout dish for me has to be the braised belly pork, my god this is one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. The beautiful sauce mixed with the charcoal flavours were incredible matched with the most perfectly cooked pork. Great vibes, great staff & even better food. An absolute gem of a restaurant!

The atmosphere is very good, but food is not as good as expected , read the review to try, to my disappointed, the dumplings tasted like from costco frozen dumplings, other foods are a bit salty.

Outstanding food, drinks, service and music. The food is simply sublime, Robbie and Jen and the whole kitchen team have created some inspired specials. Roy has long been known as one of (if not the) best bar tenders and mixologists in Newcastle. The music is a considered, eclectic mix, perfectly complementing the understated, stylish decor. A true gem of the city.

Wonderful Asian food. Can be tough to get a reservation on short notice so book early. It’s a small plates kinda restaurant with a specials board. - crack cabbage = amazing - stonebass (special) = tasty sashimi - cauliflower = beautifully charred - mono yaki = bbq’d to perfection - gyoza = nicely fried - tantamen ramen = meh. Would have preferred sliced pork and more spice. Needed something.

Delicious meal with friends. Great locally sourced food with cocktails and wine. Very busy on a Friday night but service was brilliant and the atmosphere was relaxed.

The food was outstanding. Came on a date and ordered ramen, gyozas and kimchi spring onions which was a fantastic combination. Bold and complex flavours where every element of the meal was well thought out and complimentary. The atmosphere was peaceful het lively, and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating; they clearly have a lot of love for what they do. Will definitely be coming again and recommending it to friends!

It's a bit cramped but nice atmosphere. Food was good but a little too expensive. They make a point that food comes as its ready. So don't expect a set 3 individual courses

New favourite place. Exceptionally good ramen - both the chicken/pork and the vegan. The side dishes are great as well and they have a good selection of natural wines, some by the glass. Good atmosphere/decor/service too.

Loved the place, the atmosphere, the food - everything was divine! Everything we tried was superb, but the ramen was the star of the show! One of the best I tried so far! The broth was soul warming! The pork belly and chicken skewers were also incredible and super soft! The crack cabbage from the cold dishes is a must try too. Had a ginger beer and a Yuzu spritz which was very interesting! The service was great and I would 100% definitely recommend !

Saturday lunch. On arrival, shown to our table, menu shared and explained, this was very helpful to understand the food choices. We had several 'Tapas Style' and the Raman noodle dishes. Everything was delicious, distinct flavours, rich sauces, hint of BBQ. Very attentive service, nice ambience with some vinyl tracks playing in the background. It was all so delicious that I forgot to take any pictures to post.

Kind and helpful staff - I believe it was the owner who served us? -and absolutely delicious food, he gave us some cabbage on the house and it has convinced me to come back soon and pay for it next time, please order some, I did not know cabbage could be so good! Gyoza and lionsmane was fantastic too! I never eat ramen, but this was a really nice introduction to it, but know although very tasty and umami it's very rich and may be hard to fully finish the broth if you're not used to such foods as it was for me :) Probably one of the best restaurants in Newcastle!

The service and atmosphere of the place was amazing. Food is good too, meat was very tender , especially the belly pork skewers, presentation of it all was great. but all the dishes we ordered was quite salty and too rich for my likings. The ramen broth was just warm. Bit pricey for it but worth a try.

Partner and I visited miso last night it was amazing the food the service every aspect first time we had tried ramen and it blew us away it was so good will definitely be back and it right on our doorstep oh and the cocktails best I’ve ever had we would highly recommend a visit

I came to Miso just before the New Year with my Mum and can’t recommend the place enough. The ramen was the best i’ve ever had and Roy’s a genius with his cocktails. Above all else the guy place is ran by top class people, especially Paul, who looked after us both the whole evening and made me love the Toon even more.

This place is absolutely amazing!! Amazing service, good vibes and amazing food. We celebrated a birthday and had an amazing night and we will definitely be back. Roy and Paul were amazing and made the experience 10/10

Amazing experience! The food was unbelievable and the service was impeccable. Our waiter was great and was keen to help with our selections, providing recommendations and advice to my partner who can be picky with her foods. The pork belly was SENSATIONAL - a must try! The ramen and gyozas were also a highlight. Only minor detail would be the lighting in the upstairs section, purely a personal preference as it could be a little less bright and more cozy. Otherwise perfect.

This place is becoming one of our favourite treats. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, incredibly tasty and varied food options. Oozes cool. Every dish is a joy.

Went in for late lunch right at their start of break in the afternoon. The staff has been very kind to check if there is still food. He said ramen can still be served. However, it ended up that the ramen soup was not hot enough, noodle was over cooked, grilled corns were cold even in the soup. And the bowl itself is cold without being warmed…. I hadn’t expected a very authentic Japanese ramen but it’s truly disappointing especially its very pricey,£16. I hope this was just because I came at the wrong time.

I went to miso for a friends birthday last week and it was amazing! Great food, great atmosphere and great staff who were clearly passionate about their food, music and T-shirts which added to the experience. Will definitely come again

Very, very, very good food. Owner really friendly and talked passionately about the menu. Tomatoes with ponzu were just incredible. Nice setting, drinks menu is quite large. Ramen and another dish costs 20 to 30 quid, but you could easily just have ramen.

I felt a little awkward coming in however it was soon dissipated with warm friendly staff that guided me and my partner to the table. Even if its in their book from management it comes across as genuine and warming when staff want to make conversation, like “oh i like the jumper your wearing” or just a little comment about the world it goes a long way (I’m also quite extraverted) Even one of the owners apologised i was sitting next to the door so when every customer came in the cold wind kept me a tad on the chill side but this was soon forgotten when the food came as it was outstanding i don’t need to show you the other reviews speak insta happy. These little details are important. I sometimes take the fact its still 5 stars on google reviews after 120 reviews as a bit off the cuff maybe it needs someone to throw a 4 star but hey means sod all really. I can see why though the food was outstanding, staff were ace. I will be back. From the minute we book to the text to say would you mind if you arrived a little earlier were first rate. Thankyou to Jack and the first class team. 🇯🇵

Absolutely fantastic place, the atmosphere, the service and the food all top quality. Came here for a birthday and was not disappointed, the staff were very friendly and explained the menu well. The ichiban beer is one of the nicest I’ve tasted, as was the food. From the tomato’s to the ramen, gyozas to the corn all fantastic. Would 100% recommend. Enjoy the photos but sorry I didn’t get one of the corn that stuff was incredible.

went here this summer with my dad while we were visiting a friend in newcastle. the food was amazing, especially the seabass they had on the specials menu that day; i got two plates of it. the staff were extremely friendly and got us everything we needed, and it wasn't too crowded since it was an afternoon weekend. they had a ton of records in the back and were playing some which i found cool too. the only thing that was kinda annoying was actually finding the place, since there was almost no signs or anything to indicate it was inside of there. i'm 100% going back next summer when i return :)

We came here for drinks at the weekend, so I can't comment on the food, but the cocktail menu is amazing. Some really innovative drinks on the menu. My partner asked for an alcohol free cocktail and they made a delicious drink with yuzu and coconut water!

An evening of flavour bombs. Only disappointment was the one non-veggie dish we ordered (out of around 8 dishes). Great vibe, good service. I hope that it can maintain its standard.

Super small restaurant, excellent food, lovely staff, great music

Great night at Miso - interesting authentic Japanese menu with a good selection of small plates - we pretty much had one of everything. Informal venue, quite chilled out, they have a bar downstairs and a small restaurant upstairs.

Didn't know much about this place. A really nice find, food was excellent. I asked for an alcohol free drink and got the most amazing tasting one after the guy came and asked me about what kind of thing I liked. High table and stools wasn't mega comfy and nowhere to hang coat / bag but tiny issues which didn't spoil a great night

Best, new restaurant in Newcastle. Absolutely! Love The Gyoza, the steak and the pork. The noodles are amazing too.

Got recommended to try this place from a couple of friends who had been here a few times before. It did not disappoint. The location is cool as most places in Ouseburn. Atmosphere was nice with some good lofi music playing. The food was really good too. Chicken and veg gyozas were really good and tasty! The Shoi Tori ramen was really good, some ramens you get a bit done with as it's a lot of the same, but this one was not like that. It was tasty and you wanted more all the way til the end. A must go! Only one downside was that one of the sides took til we'd basically finished the meal to come.

After wanting to try this place for a while, me and a friend finally made it to Miso for food yesterday afternoon, and we were not disappointed. I was too excited by the food when it arrived to take any photos, but it all looked and tasted amazing. We shared a selection of small plates which were all delicious and packed with flavour! The sardines on the specials menu were a favourite! We are already planning our next visit to try out the ramen and more. Cool vibe and impeccable service too! Thank you!

Such a great spot for food and/or drink - incredibly good ramen and small plates, with ever-changing specials. Drinks menu is really interesting and it’s a good spot just for a cocktail or a beer as well. One of my favourite spots in Newcastle - highly recommended

World class food in the Ouseburn, say no more.

The atmosphere and decor was lush, the service was amazing and the food is not one to miss out on! You HAVE to order the Crack Cabbage!!

One word…unreal! Japanese food, pork ramen amazing, tomato salad ridiculous, cabbage out of this world…then there’s the cocktails, speak to Roy (cocktail ninja!)…mind blowing mixologist! Seriously…get here as soon, you won’t be disappointed!

I've been here twice and both times food was nice, ramen is probably one of the better ones in town, other snacks were nice too but ramen seems to be the main meal. Service was good and servers friendly.

I wish I could use profanity in this review, it was so jeffing good. Cocktails were complex and really interesting, the service was impeccable - very attentive but not too much; friendly but not cloying; casual but just enough to juxtapose the quality and finesse of the food. Small sides were amazeballs, the spring onions were incredible and the belly pork was outrageous. The main dish of ramen was lovely - the only minor downside was that the small plates outshone the main ramen dish a bit, but out group genuinely enjoyed the experience so much it was superb.

Best Ramen place by far. My husband and I live in London and we came back here as it‘s just so much better!

The most delicious ramen in Newcastle🍜. The homemade soup, carefully prepared by a British chef inspired by Japanese ramen, is deep and delicious. The char siu is similar to the roasted char siu from "Afuri". The toppings made with seasonal British ingredients are also a must-see. The bar is also stocked with cocktails, and you can enjoy it as a ramen bar unique to Britain. From the standpoint of Japanese, this is the best ramen in Newcastle. Ramen soup is Umami heaven. You shouldn't miss chashu pork! The toppings using local ingredients are well cooked and taste very good. Good selection of cocktails, too.

A real find here. The food was very good indeed and even though the selection is fairly small, there is more than enough choice. The place itself radiates cool, stacks of (not just for decoration!) vinyl records playing some top quality tunes at just the right volume. Staff were very attentive, knew exactly what they were serving up and had good craic to boot. Definitely a place to visit, I'll certainly be going back.

Quite impressed with this new ramen restaurant in Newcastle. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the ramen actually was. The place has some chill vibes with loads of vintage vinyl that was playing on the record player. Not so mamy options on the menu but what we tried was exceptional so no complaints there. Cocktails were also quite nice. Nothing on the sweet side though. Definitely reccommended!

What a joy, both Paul and Roy. An absolute pleasure to experience the Miso menu, so much love, attention to detail and care put into every dish. The ramen is of course spectacular but the pork skewers are out of this world, truly divine. Many thanks Miso, we are very much looking forward to return again soon.

Visited for the first time last weekend for my partner's birthday. Such a lovely space, we sat upstairs next to the open kitchen but the downstairs had a great buzz for a Friday evening. The restaurant is located within walking distance of Manors and Byker metro stations, as well as several excellent bars. Staff were so welcoming, explained the details of each dish and answered all of our questions! As it was a treat we ordered a LOT of food but it was so delicious that all plates were empty by the end ... We went for the shio tori ramen (with soy egg), wakame, pickled vegetables, chicken and gyoza dumplings and crack cabbage from the main menu. Fresh oysters and also BBQ pork in tonkatsu from the specials board. For drinks : sake and a delicious white wine - also recommended from the specials. The food flavours were so delicate and fresh - absolutely outstanding. The vegetable dishes were equal in flavour to the meat and fish, definitely a great choice for vegetarian diners. Overall, a fantastic evening.

Fabulous Japanese inspired eatery and bar perched above Ouseburn. The ramen is AMAZING 😍 and the staff knowledgeable and helpful for newbies. Lovely post industrial decor.

A gem of a venue and a great addition to the Ouseburn, Paul and his team offer a relaxed dining experience over the two floors, the rationale of the business is to offer the best ingredients with local suppliers being used wherever possible, Pauls knowledge and enthusiasm is reflected in each plate, i would highly recommend a visit if you are looking for a quality dining experience at good prices, and do try the specialty cocktails

Great service, amazing flavours, lovely ambiance and decor, fantastic range of food and drinks. 2 vegans, 1 vegetarian, 1 omnivore all very satisfied. I can’t even find the words to describe how amazing the food is, from the steak to the tender stem, every dish was incredible! And it is very apparent that the kitchen and bar work closely together which is rare to find, the cocktails deserve their own shout out!

Went tonight with my partner and his mom and had a lush time. Food was outstanding and the service from Roy and Jack and the rest of the staff was superb. Definitely a must go in Newcastle!
