The best lunch I’ve eaten in NCL for a very long time. Everything tasted incredible, the decor is really cool, loved the decks and records downstairs, then upstairs was elevated and elegant. The whole place has a really cool vibe without being wanky. The service was class- when we asked about the menu, specific dishes were explained to us which personalised the whole experience. We were there on a Fri afternoon but I can’t wait to go back on a Sat night when the tunes will be on, the cocktails look lush, and I want to try out the Sake!

The food here was amazing. Myself and a mate visited here on a busy Saturday night and was lucky enough to get a table. The menu was small but had a good selection of both meat and vegetable selection. We ordered a few things from the menu a chicken dish, beef, lamb skewers, gyoza and we originally ordered grilled vegetables but we were convinced to try the tempura battered vegetables instead. It was definitely a good call. The food was excellent and I don't say that lightly. Perfectly cooked full of flavor and the lamb was my favourite. I was expecting it to have a bite and chew, it melted in the mouth it was beautiful. The drinks we had were also very nice. The Japanese beer hit the spot and I got the chance to try a Japanese sake. Having never tried it I asked for a recommendation and I was not disappointed, very smooth pleasant drink. The staff though clearly busy were polite and friendly. the person who took our order turned out to be the owner and we had a very good chat with him. he definitely knows what's best to have from the menu and drinks suggestions are on point . Both my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed miso Newcastle. Highly recommend going here. Normally I would take a picture of the food but it was so nice by the time I thought to take a picture we had eaten it all.

This is the best Asian fusion restaurant in Newcastle, it's not even close. The food was excellent, ingredients sourced locally, pure finesse. The owner is just amazing, very passionate about the food, in depth knowledge of how everything is prepared, how they're sourcing it, where from, pairings with wine. We've been here a year ago and when we came back he remembered us and we had a nice chat... I think this says everything really. Ohh, music and atmosphere are great as well, everything is too notch.

I absolutely love Miso and if you live in Newcastle you should give it a go. The atmosphere inside is really cool - a great front of house team, cocktails and stripped down brickwork look with chill lighting. The food is superb; lots of traditional Japanese dishes but with little hits (for instance lovage) that elevates them to the next level. They have a cocktail bar that delivers to a brilliant quality and the whole experience is always good. I will definitely eat here again and champion it to anyone anyone heading to the Ouseburn. One of my favourite places to eat in Newcastle and just generally a lush experience. Grab a few beers in the Ouseburn and head here for dinner, you will not be disappointed...

Unauthentic. Awkward. Misguided. A Japanese restaurant that removes Ramen from the menu when the weather is warm? The red flags were out and rightly so. We were told the service would be slow... (there were 8 people in the restaurant) We were told dishes would come out separately. (They did, a good 10 minutes apart and in the case of the lukewarm steak, 20 minutes. Even the Waiter thought all our dishes had been served. (Whilst we waited for the steak) It all feels a little lost, and at times, it is barely Japanese. I might be wrong, but it would seem there has been a significant shift in the kitchen. The review pictures from 2023 are night and day from our August 2024 experience.

The menu offers only small portions, priced the same as full-sized portions at other restaurants. They seemed aware that the food wasn't up to standard, as they gave us a £2 discount on the bill instead of serving it properly in the first place. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone—it's a complete waste of money and hardly qualifies as a proper meal which makes you feel full at least!

Highly recommended, reviews are spot on. Great Japanese place (non-sushi) in Ouseburn. Service: young, slim, blonde local lad. Very friendly and professional. Hats of to him. Location/decor: next to Brinkburn Brewery. Upstairs and downstairs seating. Book in advance to be upstairs, though downstairs is spacious and a little more casual. Decor all in-keeping and cool. Retro LP’s and speaker system in use. Great times being played. Food/drink: delicious! Clean and fresh. It is quality over quantity make no mistake. We had: • braised cabbage and capers - delicious, the sauce it came in was perfect for the dish • steak tataki - delicious, cooked to perfection. The chilli oil, everything. Perfect • chicken gyozas - delicious! Again the sauce/oil was perfectly balanced • Ramen (pork) - very nice. Should be a bit bigger, ramen IMO is not a small “fine dining” dish. Broth could’ve had more punch also. Still good, but more 7/10 for those reasons as opposed to the 9-10/10 for the rest. • Sake - two varieties, one nutty/oaky notes, one plum, both a perfect accompaniment. Would love to go again. Great experience all in all.

To the point - the food was substandard. Third visit. Staff are great and polite and prompt. The food has definitely deteriorated. Small plate Hispic cabbage tepid and undercooked, pork belly - 4 chunks - 3 delicious, 1 a lump of fat. Ramen, x 2 , tepid (again), cold upper layer, noodles that were remarkably similar to instant noodles (but undercooked), the bowls are small. Altogether a poor show. Ate at Maki&Ramen Edinburgh 2 days ago - the ramen bowls are very much better Ate at St Vincent’s Newcastle last night- the Hispic cabbage is how it should be done. Sorry for the negative feedback and thanks for not charging for the Ramen whilst pointing out that you thought the noodles were cooked to your satisfaction and that the liquid was hot enough as demonstrated by your finger thermometer. As a local independent restaurant it’s perhaps unfair to compare you with a national chain of Ramen restaurants or a Newcastle conglomerate, but our previous experiences put you above them .

Not up to the standard of old. The small plates of broccoli and beef were excellent but let down massively by the Ramen. No where near enough broth and although I don't mind my pork being served pink it has no place in a bowl of Ramen. I do not recommend this restaurant to other Asians. It has a very nice and clean environment, niche modern interior design, and good service, I don't deny that, but the food is way overpriced, and it’s not that tasty. I have had all kinds of Asian skewers, and I have never seen any skewers this chunky and chewy, and no proper sauce on the top, but drops of soy sauce come with it! And I can not believe this is 11 pounds! With no veggies or anything that comes with it! I wanted to order some miso soup because thought a restaurant named Miso would have some, but no, all they have is a broth of ramen, so I am grateful they gave me a small plate of soup. It’s good but too spicy. I wish I could give this restaurant a higher score, but they don't have many authentic Asian foods here and everything is overpriced. I don’t mind paying 1.50 for service because it’s good service, but overall I didn't enjoy eating here.

Miso is a great spot away from the bustle of Newcastle city centre for date nights, catch ups with friends or a solo Ramen fix. Pulling in a great crowd who appreciate great food and drinks, it's a winner for those craving punchy flavours made with care and using quality ingredients. Stopped by again yesterday for a late lunch. Worked through all the Konro plates and gyoza, went with the great wine recommendations and cocktails from the blackboard. The charred Hispi, Beef Tartare and Pork Belly were all standout, but every dish and drink brings it's A-game to work with each dish on the menu. If you can, try it all.

Very good but there is room for improvement. I really enjoyed the starters, all three were prepared impeccably! The main on the other hand, the bowl of ramen, did not live up to the same standard. The flavours were great, although the ajitsuke egg was a little overpowered by soy sauce, but as the star of the show the bowl was too small and not hot enough. There just wasn't enough broth. At this price point I would have expected the main to be more filling and without the starters we would have left hungry.

Normally this place is our favourite spot in Newcastle and serves high quality food. However, we got told today when we arrived that there was a new head chef. The menu didn’t have much variety for meat options and provided a lot of veggie options which were very pricey. Food was really good, however we enjoyed the other dishes more then the ramen, which I found to be not very flavorful and more oily which was disappointing, no disrespect but it was lacking Daishi and salt for the most part and you should try infuse more flavored into broth by starting with a shiitake mushroom base, the pork was really good tho. Best part was potato salad and the beef, they were really good. I liked the vibe overall but it is expensive and the waiter asked us if we wanted water, which we needed as although the ramen was lacking salt, the rest of the food was so salty, so we assumed it was tap water and he kept bringing us fresh bottles and each was I think £5-10 extra charge each which is crazy and when we found out at end it was a bit of a slap in face, you would think you guys would tell someone before they were going to spend £5-10on a £2.45 bottle of water… just crazy.

We’d been looking for somewhere to eat before a night out around Ouesburn and sort stumbled across this place as we were walking along. The menu looked interesting and the interior looked pretty cool so we decided to give it a go. It was quite busy but the guy behind the bar was very helpful and found us a table quickly and got us seated. Menu’s were presented very quickly and we were given a full run through of all the dishes by our a very friendly owner, who gave a run down on the general what to do which were the popular dishes and the specials. It’s generally a small plates menu, but they do serve large bowls of ramen, which looked fantastic. We went for a selection of small plates which is what most other people seemed to be going for. The drinks came quickly, Kirin on draught, which was fantastic. Then bit by bit the small plates arrived. Apologies for the pictures in the review but pretty much as each one arrived we dived straight in as they looked and smelled amazing. Highlights were all of them to be honest, but stand out were the belly pork skewers and the by the bay mushrooms. With the mushrooms coming from my home town of Whitley Bay, as we were told by the owner. The steak onglet with an amazing potato salad and the spicy meatballs were also fantastic. All the dishes were so fresh and full of flavour pretty much every dish was wiped clean. The total was about £90 for two, but that’s with four pints of Kirin, so isn’t too bad in today’s market. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be dragging some friends with us, but we’ll book next time as it seems a very busy and popular spot.

I never eat ramen, but this was a really nice introduction to it, but know although very tasty and umami it's very rich and may be hard to fully finish the broth if you're not used to such foods as it was for me :) Probably one of the best restaurants in Newcastle!

The service and atmosphere of the place was amazing. Food is good too, meat was very tender , especially the belly pork skewers, presentation of it all was great. but all the dishes we ordered was quite salty and too rich for my likings. The ramen broth was just warm. Bit pricey for it but worth a try.

I came to Miso just before the New Year with my Mum and can’t recommend the place enough. The ramen was the best i’ve ever had and Roy’s a genius with his cocktails. Above all else the guy place is ran by top class people, especially Paul, who looked after us both the whole evening and made me love the Toon even more.

Amazing experience! The food was unbelievable and the service was impeccable. Our waiter was great and was keen to help with our selections, providing recommendations and advice to my partner who can be picky with her foods. The pork belly was SENSATIONAL - a must try! The ramen and gyozas were also a highlight. Only minor detail would be the lighting in the upstairs section, purely a personal preference as it could be a little less bright and more cozy. Otherwise perfect.

Went in for late lunch right at their start of break in the afternoon. The staff has been very kind to check if there is still food. He said ramen can still be served. However, it ended up that the ramen soup was not hot enough, noodle was over cooked, grilled corns were cold even in the soup. And the bowl itself is cold without being warmed…. I hadn’t expected a very authentic Japanese ramen but it’s truly disappointing especially its very pricey,£16. I hope this was just because I came at the wrong time.

Very, very, very good food. Owner really friendly and talked passionately about the menu. Tomatoes with ponzu were just incredible. Nice setting, drinks menu is quite large. Ramen and another dish costs 20 to 30 quid, but you could easily just have ramen.

My first experience of this style of restaurant and I wasn't disappointed! Plenty of food across the course of the evening, and a very fun engaging server! Set menu 1 was a good choice and mix of meats!

Visiting friends and they organised lunch at Fuego’s. Had the tortilla and it was delicious. Spent hours after in the shop spending far too much money (but managed to get a fair bit of Christmas shopping done). Loads of choice and the staff were really helpful and friendly

Delicious yakisoba and beef curry as our mains. Excellent tempura and spring rolls for sides. Loved that rice came with the curry at no extra cost. Friendly, efficient staff. Good range of drinks. Central location and nice ambience.
