REVIEW OF WEST DENTON CAFE: I’ve breakfasted at Terry’s Cafe for a decade. I’ve had the full english (FE) in the Wolseley, the Butterfly Cafe, the Regency (mediocre), and it’s my firm belief a good supermarket cafe can really deliver in the FE game, but quality (and let’s be honest) quantity is critical in this market, which is unashamedly and quite rightly focusing on sales volume. That model is fine - in fact it’s well understood and successful. But in my view, there’s often a race to the bottom with the investment in staff. Which is why the lady on not only the till but the tables, on the morning of 27 June, stood out. She stood out ‘cause of the singer and lovely welcome, and spotting mam and I looking slightly pensively at a screen, was straight over advising we just come to her till to order. Mam and I both discussed, and agreed that this member of staff was an absolute credit to herself and to Morrisons. As we were both munching through our breakfasts - me, the medium FE, and mam on a requested ‘very well-done bacon sarnie’; coffee and tea, we kept mentioning how helpful she was on a number of occasions (clarifying the process of condiment provision / making sure the doneness of mam’s pig) was delivered. I hope Morrisons reward and recognise her. The breakfast itself was a 7/10 (see pic which elucidates) Which isn’t a bad score at all in my mind. There’s not enough about the quality or scope of the main items to justify anything above, BUT, in the context of a supermarket offer, it’s a 9/10.
