I have always enjoyed the food I have had from Hugo's and it was the same on this visit. My panini was excellent and all food is freshly made by the charming owner who is always so friendly.

Absolutely delicious food, decent portions, good value. Some members of our social group came here at short notice for lunch on a Thursday. We were all pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the food very much. I'll certainly be back, thank you!

I do not understand why this restaurant is not rated higher. It is top notch. Amazing decor, spotlessly clean, great staff and fantastic food. Shrimp and mackerel starter as spot-on, brilliant halibut followed by good sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend.

Hugo's has recently opened up and it doesn't disappoint! I've added photos of the menu and you can phone up and pre-order. Lovely fresh produce and friendly service.

They claim to do the worlds best cheese and ham toastie. Yeah, it’s pretty tasty, but the French do do it better 😝 Anyway the bacon, Brie and cranberry sauce panini was fab 👍🏼 Will visit again.

Blink and you'll miss it but Hugo's is a little treasure of a place just round the corner off Clayton Road. Great coffee served with a selection of Italian pastries & paninis with innovative fillings. Don't expect to sit down though if the weather is poor - their seating is on the street - but in the summer, it's a great place to watch the world go by for 30mins...

Good service and the best Toasties in Jesmond for sure.. Clean, quick and a nice idea of selling through a hatch to the street. Fab all around.

A great addition to the Chillingham Road - very good variety of food, and good coffee. Well worth a visit for fresh and unusual food, a change from the usual, and you can tell the quality by the number of people waiting outside for their orders!

Wow! We literally have no words! Kenny and the team were an absolute delight. We have been to many Michelin and 2 Michelin stars, but this has been the most enjoyable evening. The staff are just wonderful, the knowledge they share amongst them to make you feel at home is incredible and having low level modern music playing makes you feel at home in an extremely relaxed environment. This is a superb Michelin star, food and service worthy but with an amazing personable experience. The food was truly exceptional, we can honestly say we've never tasted food like it. For us it's the "why". Most places tell you what they've done and how they've done it, but the team tell you why the food has been cooked in a certain way and quite honestly the pictures cannot do the level of intricacy justice. This is definately a bucket list restaurant.
