South Gosforth Chinese Takeaway in Newcastle upon Tyne

Been waiting to order a Chinese from here for so long and it was definitely worth the wait! I haven’t had crispy chilli beef since becoming coeliac over 13 years ago, and they recommended the crispy beef in GF peking sauce and it was amazing. We also ordered the salt & chilli king prawns (amazing), egg fried rice, chips & curry sauce. Best gluten free Chinese I’ve ever had, you wouldn’t think it was any different to a regular Chinese takeaway order honestly. Thanks so much!!

We have ordered from South Gosforth Chinese a few times now and it has never disappointed, always comes on time and generous portion sizes. The staff and delivery drivers are lovely too. Would recommend.

food was delicious but delivery time was estimated an hour and a half and it ended up closer to 2 hours, understandable being a Sat night but still quite a wait

Took an hour and half to get here, missing item when it arrived, rang to complain, then when putting food out it was cold!! Very disappointing

Lady on the phone had bad attitude, food freezing, marked delivered before it even came! Waste of money

I ordered the salt and pepper chicken and prawns, fried rice and prawn crackers, curry sauce the food arrived no curry sauce, chips that I never ordered and where very dry and cold, I called the restaurant to ask for my curry sauce they sent the missing curry sauce 20 mins later. the chicken had a weird taste I Icould not eat it, the batter was very dry. I will never order from there again.

Curry was amazing. Properly seasoned not just spicy like most other places. Absolutely delicious full of flavour will be going again.

Ordered from here last night for the 1st time, food arrived within an hour, it was hot, tasty and I will be ordering again. Recommend this place.

Normally the food is good but the App took my order and the money out my account despite the shop being closed. Hoping the money is going to be returned quickly. It not ideal finding out when you get to the shop you're not getting any food after it's let you pay online in the app. Wasted travel time and money held from account for 0 service. Posted as review because can't reply to the automated email.

curry was more like coloured water with meat (the sauce didn't even stick to the rice), the chicken and mushroom soup was more like watered down gravy with mushrooms and for some reason had chips in it but no chicken, very disappointed as a friend suggested I try this place

Excellent for Gluten Free and other food. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. I can't recommend them enough. The gluten free curry is a highlight.

10/10 place Food was delicious and so chuffed they have such a large gluten free menu Staff were super friendly and helpful. I even said “you too” when the staff member told me to enjoy and I didn’t get any judgment even though I should have for being such a fool Will definitely be ordering again!!

Great GLUTEN FREE selection. One of only 2 Chinese take aways I've dared to try but took the advice of "Eat out Gluten Free North East" on Insta and I'm glad we did. Very nice.

delivery time was long but advertised correctly and accurate. Food was absolutely delicious though, and arrived hot and well packaged. Strong contender to be my regular Chinese takeaway. Impressive.

So glad we found this takeaway.. gorgeous gluten free food! The only Chinese restaurant we've found with GF curry sauce and it's unreal. As a family of 4 with coeliac disease, we've enjoyed several dishes and will be ordering again soon! :)

After seeing lots of great reviews for the gluten-free menu, we decided to try South Gosforth Chinese and it did not disappoint 😋 We've since ordered from here 3 more times as it is so good! We opted for some things that are difficult to find gluten-free so our first order was; Salt and Chilli Chicken Wings, Salt and Chilli Crispy Beef with Salt and Chilli Chips and Sweet and Sour Crispy Chicken with Fried Rice. We've also tried the chop suey, the spring onion and ginger stir fry and today we tried the amazing new gluten-free Chinese curry. We couldn't fault it, not just the best gluten-free, but the best chinese either of us have ever had. Huge portions, good value and speedy delivery too!!

Increíble comida sin gluten, bien vale la pena la espera. El pollo con sal y chile estaba delicioso e incluso podía tener salsa de curry sin gluten. Mi marido pidió fuera del menú normal y me encantó también.

Why why put an order for a delivery which is 45 mins late and the takeaway has no idea where it is. Joke people save hard for a treat, but no food

Real quick delivery. Food was average hot on arrival bonus! However the crispy chicken wasn’t at all crispy and the curry was watery.

1st time using them last week, I was blown away, best king prawn chicken curry I've ever had, the crispy aromatic duck was amazing 2, so good I've used them twice since, all 3 were equally amazing.

Food can be a bit too oily or not very seasoned but the portions are massive and overall the food worth the price. Fast delivery as well. Definitely go for any kind of ribs or Chow Mein.

Food was delicious and piping hot as always. I did have an issue with the driver tonight, he knocked, gave me 1 min to answer before he opened my front door and put the food in my hallway!! Not a front porch he opened the door into my house. Got in his car and drove off. Yes we got our food but he could have got the wrong house and not checked. You never enter someone’s home without permission.

Food was decent enough, but the beef curry was quite bland and a little sweet, not to my taste.

I usually love coming to this Chinese but today my food was soo salty that I really couldn't eat it I actually feel unwell after eating some of it. I ordered garlic butter chicken, hot wok chicken, friend rice, salt and pepper chips and curry and I don't know what it was but one of the meats were soo soo salty it was actually unbearable don't know what's went wrong this time. I usually order the same thing and it is usually beautiful I couldn't recommend them enough Iv been telling everyone it's the best Chinese in gosforth but very disappointed today. Could just be error or a mistake which I know it possibly is but I will have to see next time. The salt and pepper chips are beautiful!

Chicken not cooked throughly. Not the slightest bit crispy and definitely not shredded. Taste just off. So paid £26 for rice and chips and spring rolls. Not good enough

Paid for chicken fried rice and only give boiled rice so not happy

Ordered with chicken with Peking sauce. It nearly blew my mouth off. When I rang to discuss this with restaurant they just said it was meant to be like that. But it was extremely spicy, wasn’t offered a replacement dish

My meal was, as usual up to your high standards, however I'm not particularly happy that the order was just left on the ground at the front door with no sign of the driver anywhere.

Great tasty dishes. Excellent for takeaway. Delivery took a while, but it was worth the wait. The propietor is very accommodating. I wasn't inside the place, but considering the polite, professional service, I wouldn't doubt the atmosphere being positive.

Lovely food however the lemon chicken wasn't as nice as usual. Lemon sauce bland ; chicken not crispy as usual.Waiting time due to their re opening this week after holiday so no real issue there to be fair

After already waiting 1 hour and 15mins for the order it was then a further 25minutes late. Shop does not answer the phone. Ridiculous waiting this long for food that’s cost more then it’s worth
